No he wasn't. Kyle and Shady were better. The interior OL (incognito, groy, Miller) were great. Heck, even Darby played as strong a game. This polarizing stance on Gilmore needs to be put to rest. He's not awful and he's not excellent. He's a good player and the team will feel it if he leaves next year and they can't replace him. I believe the NYT is right...which is good for us. Means that we can beat Miami on a 9-7 tiebreak. The tiebreakers are below: Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Strength of victory. Strength of schedule. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. Best net points in common games. Best net points in all games. Best net touchdowns in all games. Coin toss Assuming Miami beats the Jets then loses to us and NE, we tie them in the first 4 scenarios. It comes down to strength of victory. Taking out all the common victories, we have beaten NE, Jax, Cincy and they have SD, Jets, Pit. We are currently 1.5 wins ahead of them (by virtue of the one Cincy tie). Assuming the Jets lose the next three and NE wins the next three, then we are in good shape. Basically, Jax + Cinci remaining wins + 1.5 has to be greater than SD remaining wins.

Considering the prospect of no meaningful games until September of next year, I'm holding on to the slightest bit of hope that things fall our way. Mostly just so I have a vested interest this weekend. Just like the similar thread posted last week, I'm not thinking this is at all likely. But stranger things have happened. (Or maybe not). 1. We need to win out..duh. 2. Miami has to lose out. Starting Saturday night at the Jets and week 17 against the Pats (as well as us in between, obviously) or we're officially done. Meaning we could be mathematically out before kickoff Sunday if I'm not mistaken. No Tannehill possibly, even though I think he sucks. 3. Baltimore needs to lose 2 of PHI, @PIT, @CIN. Losing at Pit could easily happen. At Cincy is far less likely, but possible. Division game on the road and they should have AJ Green back. 4. Tennessee needs to lose 2 of @KC, @JAX, HOU. Lose at KC, then one of the next two somehow. 5. Denver has to lose 2 of NE, @KC, OAK. We beat Denver on tiebreakers at 9-7 somehow according to the ESPN machine, so they don't have to lose out. Just any two of the three which is very possible. Save the doom and gloom replies. I know the odds are astronomical. I watched them lay eggs the last two weeks too. But its a week-to-week league and as much as I hate Rex, I don't think the team is as bad as everyone is making them out to be. When this all happens, I'll be back to start a thread in early January about how the Bills will get revenge in Pittsburgh on wild-card weekend.

Sadly, you're likely right. It's not impossible to win with Littlefinger roaming the halls at New Era, but it does significantly increase the degree of difficulty.

He will never play to his potential with the country club atmosphere that Rex runs. Some guys need to be coached up. He's definitely one.

Lorax the vet seems like he has been running on fumes the last few games. Shaq is improving week to week. I like this decision.

I consider myself one of the more cynical fans of this team. But the way many on this board have gone on to suicide watch after losing on the road to a 10-2 team has me scratching my head. No, they didn't look good for about 50% of that game. But people are acting like it was some national embarrassment. We got beat by a better team. End of story. And now, everyone seems to think we're getting demolished by the Steelers? Why? They're another middling team just like us and they're not good on the road. Everyone needs some perspective here. We're 6-6, not 1-11. We have dealt with more injuries to big name players than most teams and now they're slowly coming back. We're about as healthy as we've been all year going into this game, assuming Woods and Darby can play. As the OP said, if we win this game (and I think we will), I say we win out and make it. Rematch at Heinz Field on wild card weekend.

I'll take it a step further... The loss to the Raiders might have helped us, exponentially so if Miami had beaten the Ravens. Had we won that game, the Patriots may not have had anything to play for against the Dolphins in week 17. And the Dolphins losing to the Patriots that week is more important than us beating the Raiders would have been. Hear me out: Assuming we beat Oakland and won out, going into week 17, NE could have had home field locked up (because of us beating Oakland). Miami could have a much better shot at beating the Patriots, which would have made us both 11-5 (assuming they don't lose to Arizona or NYJ) at which point they would get in ahead of us because of a better division record. Miami lost to the Ravens, so that makes that part moot. But if we had to lose one game, this was the one that actually provides some benefit. Now, if we both go 10-6, we make it ahead of them. And that sixth loss for the Fins becomes more likely in week 17 because Oakland beat us. Perhaps all part of Rex's strategy. He threw the game! Also, root for the Raiders this Thursday. If the Patriots are 13-2 going into week 17 and the Raiders/Chiefs are both 12-3, the Pats can rest their starters. And even more so, root for the Cardinals this weekend so it makes the Dolphins, and this scenario, a non-factor.
