Because Trent Edwards had a groin injury nobody saw happen. The bigger question is, why was Losman still the back up on this team? He did a real nice job with the Bills' usual ZERO time outs and 1:50 left from his own 20 yard line, down by 7 points in a must win game didn't he? That drive was awesome: 4 plays for minus 5 yards. It's such a comfort to know he is on the bench ready to play like that if Edwards fakes (oops, I mean) Edwards gets injuries during the game.

First of all, I've never heard of Raheem Morris. Secondly, the first Mike Tomlin hasn't won anything yet in Pittsburgh. And finally, who on this board or any other could possibly have been wrong about Jauron? This guy never met a time out he couldn't waste. His players are totally unprepared both on offense and defense to win a game against a good team in an important game. Come to think of it, as soon as the games become important, they can't win them....period. The guy is completely void of any human emotions, he's too proud or arrogant to just plain get pissed off during a game, and he's a completely boring and predictable interview. ESPN must be thankful he stopped winning, because they knew they would have to interview him if the Bills stayed relevant. As ususal, he did not disappoint Berman and company. So take a bow for knowing what every football fan has known for at least two years now. The only thing that matters is if Ralph Wilson, at 90 years old, still cares about improving this mess before he passes away and leaves the Bills to the highest bidder. He might not even care anymore to blow it up for the gazillionth time in his almost 50 years of ownership.

Let's not get carried away here. Kay started the consecutive 2-14 seasons and Hank finished them. Even double - G managed 3-13. If Jaruon finishes 7-9-0 again, three straight 7-9-0's is better then 2-14, 2-14 and 4-12. But while I'm talking math, it's painfully obvious that it's all over but the mathematical chances for Buffalo for the 9th consecutive season. Hey, maybe this is the Flutie curse we are suffering today. Dougy led the Bills to a 10-5 record before being benched in favor of RJ against the hapless Colts in the last game of the '99 season. Johnson lit up the Colts, and that was it for Flutie. Thanks for the fine 15 games Doug, but Robby had one tremendous game, so he'll get the nod against the Titans in the last playoff game this franchise has played in. Wilson seriously wanted to draft Flutie coming out of college, so he should offer him an assistant coaching position to help break the curse.

Jauron won't be fired until the end of the season

Was it really? I've never heard of a contract extension for any coach or player in any major sports league that was not confirmed by either party. "Sources and rumors" are all we have as proof. -
What Would You Guys Think About...............

I would love it. But Holmgren's next stop is "retirement number one." He won't resurface again for at least two or three years, if he is serious about his announcement. -
Which Team will help the Bills out today
VJ91 replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Number 3 is the only realistic one to hope for this week, in my opinion. -
Buffalo is Buffalo. Nate Clements decided to use the lack of his type of nightlife as a reason he became a good enough CB to demand a huge free agent contract. I think when I called that reasoning ignorant, some posters felt I was being racist, and decided to defend Buffalo's lack of cool rap-type African American night clubs. SORRY. I just thought that using that reason for improving his craft was really just an easy way to take a cheap shot at Buffalo. And I say again, I don't feel sorry for African Americans who are single and love rap clubs playing in Buffalo for the Bills. Buffalo does have plenty of ways for them to use their money and find ways to have fun, with or without rap clubs. The bottom line is that Ralph Wilson and Russ Brandon are paying them as much as other NFL teams that happen to be in bigger cities are paying their players, and they should just shut up and worry about their jobs, and not the night life.

Sorry, that won't work either. He plays for the Penguins now.

Why all the fuss? Take away the successful hail mary, and the two ot wins, and UB finishes 4-8-0. But nobody can take those wins away, can they? And, apparently they came within half a yard of pulling out another one against Kent State, even though they played a lousy game against them. So the fact that they won 3 of those 4 close games within the MAC is incredible, if you look at this program before Gill got here, for one thing. Secondly, despite those 4 close games, and despite the disapointing loss to Kent State, UB is the MAC EAST CHAMPION this season. Last year they shared that regular season distinction, but did not get to play in the MAC CHAMPIONSHIOP GAME. Next week at Ford Field, you and I wll get to watch UB battle the nationally ranked undefeated Ball State for the MAC CHAMPIONSHIP. You don't think THAT is worth fussing over Gill about?? Finally, despite the fact I have a feeling Buffalo will give Ball State a decent game before losing, they will then still get to go to a BOWL GAME. And I disagree that Buffalo will probably lose that game, as you predict they will. Why do you think they will play against a team in their bowl game that will even be as good as Ball State? And if UB wins their bowl, they won't finish .500, they will finish their long 14 game season at 8-6-0.

Just because Savage insulted Buffalo doesn't mean he would never come here to be their GM, if Wilson made a good enough offer. People from all walks of life insult Buffalo. And I'm not even being overly-sensitive. Jim Kelly hated the idea of playing in Buffalo. Plus, I don't think Savage was even putting the city of Buffalo down with his angry e-mail. It reminded me more of Bill Polian telling fans that wanted Levy and Kelly fired and demoted to "get the hell out of town!" The Browns actually had just managed beat a decent team on the road, and Savage was just venting and using that team they had just beaten to make his point.

Why wouldn't you come down on him? If he and his teammates want to be considered a great defense, they need to play great first. The only thing that stopped Larry Johnson last week himself. After sitting out a few weeks, Johnson was not in great shape, so after he ran down the field 20 or 30 yards un-touched he began sucking wind. It's one thing for Poz and the rest of them to say we need to keep improving and play better. It's another thing to keep telling us how "great" they think they should be. I don't see it, and I don't want to hear it.
-
"It's frustrating because we want to be considered a great defense", said Posluszny, who leads the Bills with 94 tackles. Well Paul, it's frustrating for Bills' fans because comments like those are all we ever hear these days from Bills' players and coaches. "We should be doing this, we aren't doing that, we didn't execute this, we could have done better with that,".....I have an idea for Poz and his buddies on defense: tackle better and you just might become what you want to be. On offense, things might continue being better if the line continues to open holes for the Beast Brothers like the past two games. Actions speak louder then words, Poz.

I'm not worked up because Buffalo doesn't campare to other cities. I'm worked out because Nate Clements said it was boring, and he had no reason to say anything about the city, good or bad. I will say this however, if he plays as bad against Evans that he played against T.O. last week, I will call the San Fran Chamber of Commerce and thank them for having enough MTV rap clubs to keep Nate distracted these days.

Keep the pipe, you need to smoke it more then the rest of us. Ask Derick Dockery how dis-satisfied he is with the Buffalo night life, while he deposits his 7 million dollars a year into his small town Buffalo bank account, OK? He's black, he's young. I wonder if he isn't spending too much time going to Buffalo's non-rap clubs though. He is not playing that well.

Wake up to what, 1983? Now that would be pretty cool. I was 24 that year, and the 80's were awesome. But sadly, we all must continue to live in the present. Sorry I forgot that Kelly was a different person 25 years ago. I just admire the fact he loves Buffalo today, has decided to stay here 11 years after retiring, and also seems serious about somehow trying to keep the Bills here after Wilson dies. No wonder I have long forgotten that Kelly "laughed at Buffalo" when he was a kid coming out of college. I really don't see how that compares to Nate Clements throwing a cheap shot at Buffalo the first time he is coming back to play against the Bills for the 49ers, but maybe you are just one of those Kelly haters.

It's not ignorant for any athlete, black white or brown, to say he was able to focus more on his job because the city his NFL team played in had less night life distractions then other cities he could have played in? What do you call that statement, intelligent? How about saying Buffalo was a great place to play his first 4 seasons, and then just shutting up and leaving it at that? Is that so hard? I don't remember his current teammate on the 49ers, TKO, considering Buffalo's lame night life for black athletes so important that he didn't sign his huge 4 year deal with the Bills back in 2003? And how about Marcus Stroud leaving that cool nightlife in Jacksonville near the beach to come up here to a town that has no MTV rap clubs?? Jacksonville might not be Miami, but it has to have a few clubs down there in that warm weather, doesn't it? Who else can we mention? How about poor Roscoe Parrish? How in the world does he survive up here, after spending his college days at the U right in Miami?

Great point! I too have recently praised Wilson for being the one owner of Buffalo for over 48 years, and that is an amazing fact. But I certainly respect and admire Kraft for the job he's done in New England.

You feel bad for him? Here's what was left out of that list: The minute Vick tearfully applogizes for hurting those dogs (and he will), when he gets released from jail: Money Vick will earn from the media outlet he chooses to give his first interview with: $5 Million Dollars. Money Vick will earn from the book he will write: $10 Million Dollars Money Vick will earn from the TV movie that is made about his life: $15 Million Dollars. Money the Cowboys will pay him to back up Tony Romo: $750,000 per season plus incentives. Money Vick will earn after playing just enough to impress any other desperate team that will trade good draft picks to Jerry Jones for him: $5 Million per season for 4 seasons. Belive me, because of our sick twisted warped MTV based need for sensationalism, I'm sure Vick will come out of prison smelling like a rose.

"I think the fact that it wasn't a city like Miami or Atlanta is something that was kind of a hidden blessing in disguise," Clements said when talking about beginning his career in Buffalo, "I wasn't able to always go out, and I think that really helped me on the field."... Jim Kelly must be laughing his butt off at that pathetic statement. Jimbo and his buddies never had any problems finding "places to go out" around Buffalo. Then, in order to keep the public incidents to a minimum, he built his own bar in the basement of his home so he and the Bills could continue to party privately. I know Clements wasn't earning 10 Million a year in Buffalo like he is now, but he ceratinly had enough money to be "able to go out" if he really wanted to. Being from Buffalo, and rooting for the Bills my entire life, I really have to laugh at all the insults athletes and media members try to throw at our fair city. They just end up making asses out of themselves. For every one ignorant arrogant idiot like Clements, there are two Steve Taskers, Scotty Bowmans, Paul McGuires, Jim Kellys, Thurman Thomas's, Larry Playfairs and many others who have decided Buffalo is so great, they end up living here full time.

It seems crazy to me that Andre Reed, Ralph Wilson and Steve Tasker have not been elected yet. Bruce is a lock. I watched Reggie White in many Packers and Eagles games, and I've seen high lights of Deacon Jones. But I'm thankful I had the opportunity to watch Bruce play most of his career for the Bills. Say what you want about White and Jones, if Bruce was not as good as those two, he was easily great enough to be a first ballot HOFer. Andre Reed has more catches and yards then Swan and Stallworth combined, and they are both in. Can they be more obvious about the fact that Andre played in 4 SB losses, while Swan & Stallworth's Steelers went 4-0? What crap. If SB losses were that important, why did Jimbo and Levy get elected? I just can't see what Andre Reed left out of his Hall of Fame resume'. Same goes for Ralph Wilson. It's an insult to the Hall of Fame and to Ralph himself that Art Modell is in the final 25 with Wilson this year. Come on. This is beyond stupid. Did I read on this forum that Modell passed away? I had not heard that. But dead or alive, I cannot imagine Modell or a family member showing their faces 20 miles away from Cleveland to accept the HOF bust. There would be 150,000 Browns' fans with torches ready to burn down the entire facility. And the biggest travesty may be the fact Steve Tasker has never even been close to getting in since he was eligible in 2002. Same reasoning I cannot understand what is going on with Andre Reed, with so many other receivers with less catches and or yards then him already in. The HOF opened up the special teams category years ago when they elected Ray Guy for his amazing punting career with the Raiders. Did they also elect Jan Stenerud, I'm not sure? So doesn't it make logical sense for the best special teams player (7 Pro Bowls, one Pro Bowl MVP, if you can believe that), in NFL history in the non-kicking category to be elected in? During his career with the Bills, there was Steve Tasker, and nobody, when anyone mentioned special teams stars. The NFC had to vote one into the Pro Bowl every year Tasker made if for the AFC, but nobody thought that guy was ever in Tasker's class, whoever it happened to be. He also ran back kicks effectively when called on, and was a pretty good WR when needed there as well. I can't imagine why the voters may make Steve wait years and years, if they ever vote him in at all. The guy was unique, and the best at his positions for many years.

1) Green Bay Packers, Inc. Green Bay Packers - 1923 - Present 2) Ralph Wilson - Buffalo Bills - 1960 - Present 3) Bud Adams - Houston Oilers / Tenessee Titans - 1960 - Present We take Ralph for granted in Buffalo, but with all the franchise moves and new owernship groups. and the passing away of some long time owners recently, Wilson has now moved up to number two in longest owership of an NFL franchise in one city. Bud Adams has owned his franchise just as long, but moving Houston to Nashville knocks him out of his tie wilh Wilson. Of course Al Davis has been around Oakland since 1960, but he was not their original owner (Wayne Valley was), plus he moved the franchise to L.A. & back after he became majority owner anyway. So it's the publically owned Packers, and Ralph. Pretty amazing when you think about it. Long live Ralph Wilson.

Your Pollyannia is refreshing, and it would be great to see the Bills finish up on a 6 game winning streak and buffalo their way into the playoffs. And I will enjoy my mashed potatos. But I'm predicting a reasonable 3-2-0 finsih for a playoff-less 9-7-0 record. Sorry, reality sucks, doesn't it?
