  1. First, it is impossible for any NFL QB to play so poorly they make Lost-man look good. Secondly, like Herm said a few years ago: "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME." Losty is not capable of winning an NFL regular season game anymore. He will figure out a way to lose any game he starts or is forced to finish. So at least with this third stringer, the Bills can start fresh and give him two games to show his stuff.
  2. Or have pictures of ugly bear asses or naked women smoking bongs as avatars!
  3. Sarcasm is great, I use it in all of my posts too. But if Lost-man understood our system so well, he would have thrown that football into the 25th row of Giants Stadium Sunday the mili-second he saw that Cory what's his name was lying on his 4th string fullback ass. Over-Under? Not even Modrak/Guy/Brandon/Littman/Wilson would bring Lost-man back, if his 4.5 Million dollar salary was the absolute cheapest deal they could make for even a third QB.
  4. The biggest firing that needs to be done at One Bills Drive has nothing to do with DJ or his band of stupid over-coachers. It is once again time for Ralph to fire himself as team president, and either promote Brandon to run the entire show, or bring in another qualified football man (hopefully better then Donahoe this time) to run if for him. If Wilson could be honest with himself, the best teams he has fielded in his almost 50 years as Bills' owner have been either coached or GM'd by good solid football men who couldn't care less about their players' "liking them" unless they were winners. Lou Saban (twice), Chuck Knox, and the Bill Polian/Marv Levy GM/coach combo all had that in common. Even "lovable Marv" had no problem getting in the face of his crazy Hall of Famers when they needed it. Plus the guy showed some emotion on the sidelines - especially at the refs! And one thing Levy loved to do and was pretty damn good at, was call the plays inside the 10 yard line. But that was as coach. As a part time fill-in GM for two years, Marv sucked. I hate to say that about a true deserving Hall of Fame coach, but he did nothing to help "turn around" Donahoe's mess, and when the Bills finish 6-10 this year, the team will be right back where they started in 2006 when Marv came in. As a coach, Levy used to say that winning was really simple, but the work needed to put in on the fundamentals was hard. Wilson's dilema can be described the same way: his answer is simple: whenever he runs most of the football show, his teams have sucked. Now comes the hard part for him as the regular season comes to an end and super-salesman Russ Brandon has to try to get those 53,000 season tickets renewed: He has to put his 90 year old ego aside and let a real football man take over.
  5. Outstanding post Animal. I was wishfully hoping Turner might have decided to stay at UB for another 2 or 3 years to try and establish a MAC dynasty before he left. Or maybe even decide to just stay at UB his entire coaching career - now how's that for wishful thinking? But as that cult movie from the 90's proclaims, reality sucks. Gill is the hottest young college coaching prospect in the country outside of the southern red neck "living perpetually in the 50's" programs such as pathetic Auburn. Iowa State would be a fantastic opportunity for him and his family, and if he takes it, I wish him nothing but the very best!! Of course, if freakin' Syracuse would have been smart enough to hire him, I would have been one happy life-long Orange fan, that's for sure! At least Gross had the common sense to hire a young talented NFL OC who just happened to have coaching Syracuse as his life long dream, if not Turner Gill. Robinson may have been a good NFL DC with a couple of SB rings to show off when he came to Syracuse in '05, but he had no clue on how to recruit for the 'Cuse and it showed!
  6. Then, this year, we focus so much on getting size at the WR position we take a high draft pick on a WR from the University of Indiana (never known to produce any kind of receivers unless your Randle El) when we had Eddie Royal (Virginia Tech) and Desean Jackson (Cal) sitting there for the taking. Jackson and Royal are having break out years as rookies, and either one would have made an obvious better choice then Hardy. But that doesn't mean Hardy will be a bust. This knee injury really sucks for him, but once he rehabs and spends more time working on techniques, he could turn out to be an excellent tall wide receiver in a couple of years. And hopefully by the time the kid is healthy and learns how to be an NFL receiver, the Bills will have some real NFL coaches that can take advantage of his height and catching skills.
  7. Gee whiz, J.P. Losman really must be a fine NFL quarterback then, right? According to Turk-ey, there was only ONE option on that play-fake roll-out pass play - the FULLBACK. Since even Lost-man should have been able to notice right away that the full back was laying on his ass unable to receive the pass, Losty should have simply heaved the ball into the freakin' stands the milisecond he ran outside of the box, which was a full second or more BEFORE he got stripped by the far side blitzer. In other words, he was not even required to think about making a play other then throwing to the full back or throwing the ball away.....or he could have even just slid down for heaven's sake, took the sack and not fumbled the damn ball.
  8. Excellent point, I forgot about him, and he's the one most responsible for signing Derek Dockery instead of Damien Woody, and signing Kiwaka Mitchell instead of Joey Porter, little decisions like that. Now that you mention it, he should be the first to go!
  9. I agree! The kid has the tools, and I have stated that he may not be mature or even smart enough to have contributed this season. But so what? It took Josh Reed 5 years to go from being called a bust, to being compared to Heinz Ward. This entire season has turned out to be one big freakin' BUST, so why come down on a kid that had so little to do with it? Now he blows out his knee, and that sucks for his develpment, but I wish him well and hope he gains some mental toughness from his rehab. By the way, Promo - I like your UB schedule on the bottom of your posts.....I still can't believe the job those kids and Gill and his coaches did against the number 12 team Ball State in that game!!...Amazing. I can't wait to see how they match up against U Conn in the Bowl game.
  10. I get pissed off when they lose right up until they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. They were still in it yesterday, and they played the best overall game they've played in, well considering the Jets had a winning record, you have to say that was the best overall game they had played all season.......until Lost-man fumbled of course. So sure it was silly to root for the Bills as if they "could" still make the playoffs when the last scenario had them winning out at Denver and at home against New England while the Jets and Dolphins would have had to lose two and then tie against eachother in week 17!!! But that's my thing, I continue to care until the fat lady has done the math. Now that I've posted a couple of ventings over the loss, my passion has been stored away until the 2009 season starts up. I'll watch the last two to see if this team has any character left at all, and even if they don't and get blown out in both games, that will just help the Bills draft position.
  11. Your real sources are still phantoms. And, now we have some sources saying he signed back in October, and some saying he signed yesterday. At least one group of sources are outright liars. I'll still wait to see how Wilson and Brandon handle this garbage before I get carried away with how stupid Wilson was to sign Dick to an extension. Coaches salaries don't count against the players' salary cap, so even if Ralph eats the entire 3 year deal, (if there is a new signed deal for Dick), it won't be as bad as being stuck with Derek Dockerys' $35 Million left on his contract! (Although I have to give the NFL's biggest fattest line some profs lately, they are opening some running lanes for Beast and Fred, and I'm sure they would love to wave goodbye to Dick and Turk as soon as possible right about now themselves!)
  12. I've checked everywhere this morning. I have not read one word, or heard one report, from either the Bills or Jauron that this infamous 3 year extension has been signed, nor even exists. Nothing on the Bills official team website. No press release, no press conference, nothing. ESPN, WGR, CBS, WKRP in Cincinnati, every single media outlet keeps running this story about Dick signing this contract. Until the Bills and Dick freakin' confirm the story, why bother reacting to it at all??
  13. The Steelers had to win 3 road games to get into that Super Bowl. You talk like they stopped the Bengals game after Palmer got hurt and just handed Cowher the Lamar Hunt trophy. That was just their first road win. And regardless of how lucky you thought the Steelers were against Seattle, they won the game, and Cowher became a SB winner. Plus, you forget to mention the fact that Cowhers' Steelers played in another SB about 8 years earlier, under his watch. That one they lost to Dallas, and now Bill Cowher has a 1-1 SB record. That makes him an elite Hall of Fame worthy NFL head coach. Marty?? Well he may get into the Hall too, based on his 200+ regular season wins. But the man is known as the all time choker coach come playoff time. You think he would build the Bills up faster then Cowher? Only you know why that is, but what good would that do if his Buffalo Bills have a 14-2-0 regular season and then lose their first round home playoff game like his Chargers did a few years ago?? And his Chiefs never got into a SB. Neither did his Redskins. And his poor Browns manage to lose three AFC Championship games to the same team - the Broncos, in the 80's.
  14. I thought Mangini came out of the Parcells/Belicheck tree. He was boy - genius coming from New England. I had no idea he was Dick Jauron Junior. No wonder the Cowher rumors have begun circulating in Jets Nation.
  15. Obviously my sarcastic wit is lost on you two. I'm not comparing football to accounting. I'm comparing how football players talk to if accountants tried to talk the same way. I understand football players have a different dynamic then the rest of us working class out here in the real world! They risk their lives every week to play a game at a level most of us cannot imagine. They also get paid more money then most of us can imagine. All I ask from them is an honest answer to a valid question. I'm not expecting them to try to relate to the world of accounting.
  16. Hindsight is 20/20, and every fan of every team can do this. But since you brought up the Bills draft since the non-playoffs steak began in 2000, take a look at just some of the offensive linemen, still starting today, that were on the board at the time the Bills drafted other players in the first round - in or out of the top 10 picks: 2000: Bills drafted Eric Flowers, DE #26 Overall: Still on the Board: #38 Marvel Smith LT - Steelers #44 Chad Clifton LT - Packers 2001: Bills drafted Nate Clements, CB #21 Overall: Quality Pick, no complaints. 2002: Bills drafted Mike Williams, OT #4 Overall: Still on the Board: #7 Bryant McKinnie LT - Vikings #10 Levi Jones LT - Bengals #29 Marc Colombo - RT - Bears (Starting now for the Cowboys) 2003: Bills drafted Willis McGahee, RB #23 Overall: Still on the Board: #26 Kwame Harris RT - 49ers - (Starting now for the Raiders) #33 Eric Steinbach LG - Bengals - (Starting now for the Browns) #37 Jonathan Stinchcomb RT - Saints 2004: Bills drafted Lee Evans WR #13: Quality Pick, no complaints 2004: Bills drafted J.P. Losman QB #22: Still on the Board: #34 Chris Snee RG - Giants 2005: Bills drafted Roscoe Parrish #55 Overall (No 1st round pick): Still on the Board: #64 Adam Terry RT - Ravens #81 Richie Incognito RG - Rams 2006: Bills drafted Donte Whitner SS # 8 Overall (Quality Pick?..not yet) Still on the Board: #23 Davin Joseph RG - Bucs (Taking Joseph at #8 would have been a major reach, but was paying Dockery 7 Million a year a few months before this draft any less crazy for Levy??) 2007: Bills drafted Marshawn Lynch RB#12 Quality Pick, no complaints 2008: Bills drafted Leodis McKelvin #11 CB (Quality Pick?.. probably, but not ready to start), Still on the Board: #12 Ryan Clady LT - Broncos - starting left tackle as a rookie. #15 Branden Albert G - Chiefs - Made the switch to left tackle, starting as a rookie. #21 Sam Baker LT - Falcons - starting left tackle as a rookie. Too bad the Bills never made the OL a priority. Obviously there were plenty of starters sitting there just waiting to be drafted by Buffalo these past 8 years!
  17. Why do the Bills sign Lechler, if you say Moorman is safe? Other then that, I think you have a pretty good read on next season. One thing I think needs to happen, despite the money they have already spent on the OL, they really need to draft a first or second round or sign a top level free agent center this off season.
  18. The Jets game in 1968 was special for me, it was my first Bills game in person at the RockPile. Excellent memories...thanks. I also agree that crazy game from 1990 is the best Broncos game to highlight. That AFC Championship game in '92 was not a very good offensive game, and the Bills won only by recovering a fumble as the Broncos were moving into field goal position to tie it up late.
  19. Here's what I would say: "We admire and respect Coach J. We have all let him down. We have all played terribly these past 7 games, and intend to at least finish strong by winning our last 3 games against good teams to prove how much we respect him, and to slavage at least a winning season for ourselves, for Coach and most of all for the great fans of Bills Nation." Instead, Langston fed us the same tired defensive garbage about the media creating illusions of problems in the locker room, and only admitted that his team has gone through "a tough spot." A tough spot? What the hell is he talking about, getting a stain out of one of his $300.00 silk shirts? Later on in that article, McGee took a tiny bit more accountability, but pulled out the most popular current vague cliche' in all of sports today in doing it by saying "It's the players," cornerback Terrence McGee said. "It's not on Jauron. You can watch film and see that we're not making plays like we need to to get these wins. It's the sad part of the game, seeing coaches go through stuff like that when the players aren't making the plays that need to be made." "We didn't make plays." That is not an answer! If your accountant does your books, and you still get audited, would you be satisfied when you go back to him and his answer is: "Man I'm sorry. I just didn't add the numbers. "It's the sad part of accounting, to see you go through stuff like your audit when I just didn't add the numbers that needed to be added." I am so sick and tired of hearing player after player repeat that stupid mantra of making or not making plays!! And now everyone on ESPN, CBS, Fox and NBC are repeating that stupid phrase over and over as if they think it makes them seem like experts. Idiot panel host asks; "So tell me Trent Dilfer, why do you like Matt Ryan so far?" Dilfer: "Man, that kid has all the throws, and he just makes plays!" Shut up all ready. I miss the old days when the talk show host asked Thurman Thomas what was the biggest problem with the bickering Bills in 1989, and Thurman answered: "JIM KELLY." Where is the personality, passion and heart of those warriers that played for so much less money these days???
  20. Why did Turk Shoenert give up on all of his early season ideas? What happened to moving Evans around to free him up? What happened to running the ball on second and 10 for a change, or running draw plays or screens on third and 6 just to change things up? What happened to finding different ways of getting Parish the ball? What happened to throwing to the tight end more? Evan Losman should be able to throw a 5 yard out to Royal or Fine or Shouman on first and 10! How in God's name did Turk revert back to bringing in two tight ends and a full back to advertise the run, and going empty back field to advertise the pass, like all the OC's before him in the past 10 years???
  21. 2001?? That season sucked. You don't have to look farther back then last year, when I think the team banded together in the face of all those injuries and played with passion just about every game. And the first 6 games of this season they seemed pretty passionate as they came back to win some games at the end. Something went bad when they got out to Arizona, and despite the good game against the Chargers, it stayed bad and got worse. The Cardinals kicked their asses when they thought they were a great team, and I think they just decided to pack it in when the Dolphins started punching them in the mouth down in Miami two weeks later. They gave up for the season in that game, and that's why even 90 year old Wilson, despite f...ing with Sullivan and talking like he could care less, knows that he has to get rid of these coaches.
  22. I Always root for the Bills to win. Even when I think a higher draft pick would be better then a meaningless late season win, I still end up watching the meaningless game and rooting for them. As for DJ, I believe he's gone no matter what. Ralph is hanging on too long and is too invloved with personell, like his old AFL pal Davis out in Oakland. But I think that even Wilson is smart enough to know that he needs a new head coach.
  23. And to think Duke was a 4th rounder himself!
  24. The way I see Brandon's role, he is the GM. And he & Wilson will hire the new coach. When Wilson fired Donahoe, he also re-hired himself as team president. When Levy quit, Ralph did not say he was stepping back again. Unfortunately, I think Wilson is going more Al Davis on us then Wayne Huzienga, who just sits back and hires a man like Parcells to run the entire show in Miami, and loves his decsion. Not to mention the fact he is also trying his best to sell the Dolphins which may or may not have anything to do with him bringing in Parcells. Bottom line here in Buffalo is that Wilson is in charge until he either comes down with Alzheimers or dementia, or he dies. He will never hire another "legitimate personnel guy for GM again, in my opinion.
