Great draft, as long as the Bills are able to get Mack, Unger or Luigs to fill their gaping hole at center, getting a couple of pass rushers would be terrific too.

The season really ended with the Cleveland Monday Night loss
VJ91 replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's how that really happened the way I saw it: The Browns played better then the Bills and deserved to win anyway, and then Lindell missed the kick at the end that could have saved the game for Buffalo. And you are surprised about this, why...? -
Pats - 42 Bills - 28 NE take command in the 4th quarter.

John Harbaugh smacks down Bills chances...
VJ91 replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all, he's just trying keep his Ravens focused to win their game against Jacksonville. Secondly, the man speaks the truth, so who cares if he just comes out and says it? -
Sure. Then he could bring in Rod Marinelli as his head coach.

In Retrospect Levy only slightly better than Donahue
VJ91 replied to bbfan54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marv Levy only slightly better then who?....Phil Donahue? Or could you be talking about Tom Donahoe? -
Scott got burned, but without those monster pass rushers I agree with you the Bills lack, tight ends and slot receivers are always the first ones open immediately on most pass plays. I really like Scott's size, and hitting ability. An aggressive DC could find ways to take advantage of those traits, but Fewell has got to be the worst DC in the NFL today. Despite this, I am still convinced the Bills have to draft the best center when they pick 9 - 16 in April. The best one should still be on the board at 16, or certainly higher. A new DC can teach a second round DE how to use his skills to help improve the Bills' pass rush next season. But why not draft the very best center coming out this season, who looks like he will be ranked around the end of the first round in value, so he can use his superior talent to anchor the O-Line for years to come??
-
Forget DE or DT. If I were "running things", I would draft the best center in the draft to anchor my O-Line for the next 10 or more years.

I don't see how two teams would trade their first round draft picks for the same player?? You must have an extravagant deal between the Eagles and Panthers in mind here, but won't you share it with the rest of us?? The Bills trade Jason Peters to the Eagles, who want him so badly they trade someone else to the Panthers for their first rounder, and then trade that to Buffalo too? Or, is it the Panthers that want Peters badly, and they trade for the Eagles first round pick, and package them both to Buffalo for Peters? Either way, I think you are seriously dreaming. Peters is an amazing story, the undrafted rookie free agent tight end that becomes one of the best left tackles in the NFL, now heading to his second consecutive Pro Bowl. Tom Donahoes' one great acquisition. But I cannot believe he is worth two number one draft picks to any other NFL team. It makes no sense. Look at the Bills themselves. They won't even spend one third round draft pick on an offensive lineman. Ever. Most NFL teams have a decent left tackle already in place. No way does any team, even those that value offensive linemen more then the Bills, invest two number one picks on one left tackle.

The Sad State of the Bills and the NFL.
VJ91 replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo can compete. All they have to do is decide they want to. The one thing Ralph Wilson never says is that he is committed to winning the Super Bowl for his Buffalo Bills. Everything starts at the top. The Irsay's were jokes for years as NFL owners. Bill Polian was a hot tempered vulgarian bully, according to some people "in the know." On top of that, Jim Irsay seems to be a man of Christian Faith these days, based on some of his accpetance speeches I heard him give the year his Colts won the SB. That did not stop him from hiring the vulgarian with the temper to run his entire franchise did it? Ralph can win a Super Bowl for Buffalo. He's wealthy enough, even if he doesn't have as many luxury suites or high enough ticket prices. He can pay for Bill Cowher out of his own pockets............if he wants to. -
Here's the story I heard after Polian quit or got fired at the end of that season: Polian had a heated argument with Linda Bogdan which led to him either quitting or getting fired. So your scoop is not exactly earth shattering, but thanks for reminding me how stupid and petty the incident was that led to the Bills losing the best GM they ever had.

Poll: Bills Best Coach Since Marv Levy
VJ91 replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So would Marv. But Mularkey bolted. On the other hand, no other team has given Mularkey a chance again so maybe Mike knew he was in over his head. -
Has anyone done the scenaros of
VJ91 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like the Bills will draft anywhere from 9th if they lose, all the way up to 16th, if they somehow win. Of course with either pick, they could draft their franchise center for the next 10 years....or they could draft a defensive end that may or may not be good enough to even start next season. -
So do we trade Peters this offseason?
VJ91 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for answering your own question. -
Joey Harrington gets in a good one
VJ91 replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
....and the Pistons Championships while we try and remember the old Buffalo Braves, (did they win a playoff series? I think they had one 50 won season under Jack Ramsey, but I don't remember what they did in the playoffs that year.) ---and the Detroit Tigers World Series wins while we can remember the video presentation Bob & Mindy Rich hired Larry King to narrate back in 1990 when they tried to win expansion into MLB. Two more reasons it would be really nice for the Sabres or Bills to win just one championship between them in my lifetime. -
I always root for the Bills to win, regardless of anything else going on. Even if they were 0-15 and playing Detroit for the number one pick, I would root for the Bills to get the second choice. But once again Ralph Wilson opens his mouth, and his loyal fans are left to wonder about his thought processes. 7-9-0, 7-9-0, and (most likely) 7-9-0, and Wilson needs more meetings, with DJ sitting in no less, to decide if this pathetic below average, 3 year record is good enough to retain Dickt. The same season Parcells walks into Miami as Team Dictator and they go from 1-15-0 to (most likley) 11-5-0 in less then one full year, with a coach nobody had ever heard of before. On top of that, Wilson tells us that he will be rewarding Tom Modrak, left over from Donahoe's sad 5 years in charge, by making him Vice President, Inner Circle. And if that isn't bad enough, even if Modrak tries to make good football decisions with his new position "inside the loop of power", Wilson also said that no one man will be in charge. So Modrak can always get overruled by Wilson, Littman and / or Brandon. Add this interview up and as insane as this seems for season ticket renewals, it looks like everything stays about the same as we "prepare" for another draft with the number 9 to 16 pick in the first round - yet again!! :worthy:

Well said! That is why I don't think Edwards has come close to "coming of age" yet, as other posters think out here. That said, the kid certainly has the talent to take that next step and throw to Evans deep before he checks down in the future.

OK, if they don't eliminate all the divisions, the only other thing they could do would be to leave a division winner home for the playoffs in favor of the better wild card team! Could you imagine that? Neither can I. At the very least, the NFL should make the crappy 8-8-0 or 9-7-0 division winner go on the road to play a wildcard game if their opponent has the better record.

PFW audibles - quotes from NFL scouts/personnel people
VJ91 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's what is written about these nuggets from around the NFL: The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Wow, what great sources! What the hell keeps Pro Football Weekly.com from completely making this crap up?? "speaking on the condition of anonymity"....isn't that nice? Well I heard from an expert source, speaking on the condition of anonymity of course, that both Bill Cowher and Scott Pioli are coming to Buffalo to replace that idiot Russ Brandon and his idiot coach DJ next season. There, I now have as much credibility backing up my story as PFW.com has. What ever happened to real reporting in the media?? -
Wilson has told everyone who has ever asked, he will not sell the Bills until he dies. Are we now calling him a doddering liar too?
-
Your logic is compelling, but there is one problem with it: Brady has led the Pats to 3 SB Championships, and he is only 32 years old, not 39 like Favre. Not even Belichick is arrogant enough to choose Cassel over Brady, for at least another 3 years.
-
There is only one thing they can do to eliminate this from happening, and that is to eliminate the 8 divisions completely. As long as teams like Arizona and San Diego play in lousy divisions, they can win with 8-8-0 records, they must be allowed to make the playoffs, or what would be the sense of having divisions in the first place?? So this season you might very well have the 11-5-0 Pats miss the playoffs while the 12-4-0 Colts are forced to travel to the 8-8-0 Chargers for a road wild card game. Pretty stupid, I agree. But would these owners, who value their "rivalries" so much, be willing to throw out their divisional twice-a-year games to keep this oddity from happening? I doubt it.

Well he wasn't laughing too much after the Jets loss, was he? My question is, why would the man signing all the checks be happy and jovial after any loss?

Steve Johnson was a 7th round draft pick, wasn't he? Did he sign a one year contract or something? I am under the impression that 7th round draft picks usually sign 3 or 4 year deals at an extremely reasonable price, because they are 7th round draft picks. The kid has caught what, 15 or 20 passes with 2 TD's his rookie year, which is remarkable for a 7th rounder, don't get me wrong, but are you suggesting that Brandon renegotiate his contract this off-season or he will hold out or something??
