  1. Sorry, as much as I respect and admire the one who took the Bills to four straight SB's, your description of his 2 years as a GM is way too kind. He helped get the Bills out of salary cap hell? By signing Derick Dockery to a 49 Million dollar contract? By overpaying Langston Walker, although Walker seems to have come around decently, but not worth his 25 Million. By drafting Donte Whitner when Jay Cutler was on the board, and Lost-man had just "led" the Bills to a 5-11 season as was certainly not "entrenched" as the Bills QB of the future? Sorry, whatever role Marv played in all of that and more, makes his time as GM a hell of a lot worse then "leading the Bills back to a young team on the rise and somewhat competitive." Levy is a Hall of Fame NFL coach, let's just leave it at that.
  2. I think Florence got caught up in a bad situation with ego maniac Gregg Williams running the defense for the Jags last year. His numbers are still very productive over his 5 seasons with the Chargers, and he's only 28. I can't believe the Jags cut him after only one season, but he could work out really well for Buffalo...for once. If Jabari gets his 20 Million that's great for him, but this is one time I hope the circle jerks come out better for spending less.
  3. From Players Page on NFL.com Drayton Florence: 6'0 195; Corner; 28 years old 6 Year Veteran 5 Years with San Diego, 1 with Jacksonville (last season) 89 games; 53 Starts 273 Tackles 41 Passes Defensed 10 Interceptions 2 Fumble recoveries 0 TD's Jabari Greer: 5'11 180: Corner; 27 years old 5 Year Veteran 5 Years with Buffalo 70 games; 26 Starts 156 Tackles 27 Passes Defensed 4 Interceptions 0 Fumble recoveries 2 TD's Other then Jabari's 2 TD returns on his 4 Ints's, and him being a year younger, Florence is a huge upgrade. Very nice signing by the circle jerks this time!
  4. While I was not thrilled with Duke at center, I still think he can be a quality starting guard in the NFL. I think the Bills should have made him an offer to stay on, especially after dumping Dock.
  5. It does? Well, Coles himself walked away from 6 Million a year to see how much more money he could earn in free agency. So it seems pretty pathetic to me that the circle-jerks would only offer 6 million while he took the time to come up here and visit, doesn't it?
  6. I hope not, since that will mean Trent is injured yet again, or sucks bad enough to get replaced.
  7. Is this your way of reminding us you called out Guy weeks, months or years ago? Sorry to bruise you ego, but no, I can't imagine why anyone would use the search feature on this site, since they think about their own thoughts when they think of them, and just want to add to the discussion.
  8. First Round Picks of the past 5 drafts: 2004: Bills took Lee Evans #13: I would have drafted Vince Wilfork who went #21 to the Pats, instead. 2004: Bills traded their second round pick in this draft, plus their first round pick in 2005 with Dallas, to get back into the first round to draft J.P. Lost-man #22: I would have kept my second round pick and drafted Bob Sanders #43, who went to the Colts at #44, instead. 2005: Bills had no first round pick from the 2004 Lost-man trade to Dallas. With my first round pick in 2005, I would have drafted: Shawne Merriman #11, who went to the Chargers at #12, instead. 2006: Bills took Donte Whitner #8. I would have drafted Jay Cutler, who went #11 to the Broncos, instead. 2007: Bills took Marshawn Lynch #12, I like the kid, and I'm not ready to give up on him yet. I'll stick with Marshawn Lynch. 2008: Bills took Leodis McKelvin #11, I would have drafted Branden Albert, who went #15 to the Chiefs, (and started at left tackle for them from game 1), instead.
  9. That's my point. The Bills have the money. They need Coles more then any other team, so why did Brandon "offer him what they felt was a fair contract", instead of just asking Coles how much he "expected", and maybe negoiating somewhat less then that figure, but making sure he locked him up while Lavereus was sitting across from him at his freakin' desk?? It has happened already around the NFL. Bart Scott only visited the Jets, and signed with them. Lito Sheppard may not have visited any other teams, yet he signed with the Jets himself. Players have agents with cell phones and I-Phones and fax machines. The players dont' have to "visit" any teams at all. When they do visit, they are showing that they are really interested in your franchise, and expect an offer. If Coles ends up signing with Buffalo, awesome. But if he signs with the Dolphins instead, don't waste your time believing Brandon could not have locked him up while he was here. Of course he could have....and should have. On the bright side, there are still plenty of other free agent wide receivers including Bryant Johnson who we were all so high on at this time last year, available to be signed. I just thought at only 31, and still with plenty of catches in front of him, a guy like Coles was perfect for the Bills right now. I'll continue to hope I'm wrong about the Dolphins.
  10. Derek Dockery sucked, plain and simple. The Lions should feel lucky they combined with the Inner Circle Jerks to screw up that trade. He may have some talent for his size, but there was zero attitude, zero nastiness, and zero motivation for Dockery as a Buffalo Bill. Duke Preston was a better guard then Dockery. Not center, but Duke played guard with a higher motor and more attitude then Dockery. Langston Walker did a nice job filling in for Peters when Jason was out, and he may not be worth his money, but he is far better at right tackle then Dockery was at gard. Brad Butler has nothing but upside coming in as a 6th rounder, and Melvin Fowler has already been replaced by the big dude from Carolina. (Hangartner, Harngarter or whatever his name is.) Maybe Dockery will do better back in Washington, but I'm happy he was cut.
  11. Coles will be a Dolphin....that's my prediction, and I'm sticking to it. If he ends up here, I'll be the first to one to congratulate the Inner Circle Jerks, but I just don't see it. As you can see now, all Russ had to do was make an offer that Coles felt was worth his while, and this discussion would be over.
  12. It was still a huge financial risk for even the great and powerful Pats to franchise this guy. Let's say these trade talks break down, because of Cassell's top 5 QB salary this season, the Chiefs and whoever else walk away from the table. They are unable to cut a long term deal with Cassell, and he remains a Patriot. That's a hell of a lot of money tied up in their two quarterbacks, don't you think? That's why I thought the Pats would not franchise him. But obviously, like I said in my last post by the way, it turned out to be the best decision for them in the long run, since I doubt this trade won't go through, the Chiefs will get Cassell, and the Pats will get the picks like you said.
  13. If this ends up being true, I would like to congratulate all the geniuses out here who actually seriously thought the Pats would trade Brady and keep Cassel. I thought the Pats were crazy to even franchise Cassel, much less keep him over the 3 time SB winning 2 time SB MVP Brady. Well, I was wrong about the Pats franchising Matt, and I suppose they really had to given the excellent season he had. But it didn't take long for New England to dump Cassel and his franchise salary, did it?
  14. Yeah, why not overspend on Taylor and Coles enough so that they signed contracts with the Bills without leaving town? Taylor signed for reasonable money with the Pats, they would not have had to go over that by much for him to sign in Buffalo. And why would he have been considered the number 3 back here? Who knows how many games Lynch will be suspended to start the season, or if the Bills even want him back at all at this point? His case is not settled yet, and the Commissioner has not ruled on him yet. So that makes him number two here at the worst, and I don't think Taylor considers Freddy Jackson to be better then Laurence Maroney, do you? So why would Taylor think he will get more carries in New England then in Buffalo at this point? And after running for over 11,000 yards, why do you think Taylor even wants to be a number one back at his point in his career? No, I have to believe money was his motivation over anything else. And WHEN Coles signs with Miami instead of Buffalo, you will find out just how serious the Dolphins are a contender for him. And Coles is only 31, and would have been a terrific receiver to line up opposite Lee Evans. For Brandon not to have made Coles an offer he couldn't refuse is just another example of the Bills being cheap. Plain and simple. Hey, if Coles ends up signing with the Bills, terrific. I'll eat these words. But that won't happen, if I know anything about free agency in the NFL today. Coles needed to sign the deal while he was here.
  15. Stiffs trying to cheer up our miserable lifes (is that a word?) up at 2:00 AM watching free agency? Who the hell are you, Bill freakin' Gates using a mask to cover your eyes so you get your 10-12 hours of power sleep every night? And how exactly do you know that 90% of "us" had never head of Jason Brown or Bart Scott? Did you take a poll last year? Did you give a free agents of '09 written test or something? I must have missed it. The Bills are not failures because they didn't sign Taylor, Brown or Scott. That does make them cheap, however, if they really wanted to sign them, but that of course is nothing new to us as Bills fans. I will wait for your "almost guarantee" of a big trade or FA signing for the Bills this weekend or next without being "reactionary." But I do resent your insults at the fans that are upset they have waited for this process to happen. The FA's that have signed with teams already are certainly great players that would have certainly helped the Buffalo Bills, so those fans have a valid voice during this process too!
  16. Here is what the Inner Circle-jerks are waiting for: the free agents to sign for what they are willing to pay them. Did Brandon offer contracts to Coles and Taylor? If not, why not? Or, if he did, they certainly were not enough to wow them into siging without ever leaving Buffalo. Either way, it sucks for us as Bills fans. If Brandon let them leave without offering contracts or offering contracts too low, then he is admitting to the players Buffalo does not want them badly enough. Taylor signed with the Pats, maybe Coles will come back to Buffalo, but I can't imagine him leaving Miami without a contract, can you? So despite the extra cash from Toronto kicking in, Wilson seems to be guarding his bonus money for free agents with his life. That is still the only way to win a free agent auction...bonus money that gets pro-rated for the years of the contract even though the player gets it guaranteed in the first year or two of his deal. Wilson is familiar with it. Dockery was already paid $18 Million by the Bills in only two years. But now, when there is real talent available, the jerks seem to be conservative about spending it like they did in '06 for Dockery and Walker. Maybe it was Marv Levy being around and Wilson trusting him so much that convinced him to spend the money then. Who knows? But after cutting Dockery, it really pisses me off that the Bills wouldn't spend enough to get Taylor and Coles signed while they were here. Four year deals for both of them, even with the Bills overspending, would have been less then what they paid Dockery alone in ''06.
  17. If the Bills don't sign Hangarten for depth at a reasonable price, then they could always bring Darwin Walker in for a visit. He was almost a Bill for 5 minutes a couple of years ago - maybe now he might consider the Bills worth his while.
  18. I think Mr. Pro Bowl blip led the running backs with 48 yards in the Pro Bowl, didn't he? Mr. sucky YPC averaged about 6 YPC in the Pro Bowl, didn't he? Come back to the 2000's, Skooby. Your cartoon was funny in the 70's when some of us were kids, but the best and most talented athletes in the NFL today usually have some baggage growing up they bring with them. Lynch is all of 22 years old, and with some guidance, can challange Thurman's numbers by the time he turns 30 as a Buffalo Bill. No way should the Bills trade or cut the kid now.
  19. Good picks, here are mine with just a 3 differences: 12 - Jim Kelly - Quarterback 2 - Steve Christie - Kicker 8 - Brian Moorman - Punter 34 - Thurman Thomas - Running Back 83 - Andre Reed - Wide Receiver 80 - Jerry Butler - Wide Receiver - Elbert Dubenion - Wide Receiver 88 - Pete Metzelaars - Tight End 66 - Billy Shaw - Offensive Line - LG 68 - Joe DeLamielleure - Offensive Line - RG - Howard Ballard - Offensive Line - RT 64/77 - Stew Barber - Offensive Line - LT 67 - Kent Hull - Offensive Line - C 89 - Steve Tasker - Special Teams
  20. So now I know why the good teams stay good, and the bad teams go up and down annually. (While the Bills stay below average, year after year after year.) The teams drafting 1 to 15 don't seem to do enough of their own scouting anymore. They just believe everything the draft gurus say, and are afraid to "reach." Now more then half of them do fine that way, don't get me wrong, the bad teams do scout, and the gurus are right most of the time. But that always allows some great to good players slip down to the lower half of the first round. And that leaves them where the better teams love them to "slip"... right into their laps. Listen to this crap from the combine regarding Pettigrew: "Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew ran times of 4.85 and 4.87 seconds in the 40-yard dash Saturday. He was projected as a first-round pick by many before the combine. How much will that hurt his draft stock?...Analyst Mike Mayock of the NFL Network said, "I still think he’s plus or minus Jason Witten. He’s an in-line tight end who will block his tail off. He might not be as fast as some of those guys, but he can separate and catch a football.”...Nevertheless, it probably decreases his odds of being taken in the first half of the first round....Witten, a third-round pick in 2003, has made five Pro Bowls for Dallas. He was the 69th overall pick. But he ran a 4.65 in the 40 at the combine...." So there you have it folks. A lot of draft gurus were mock-drafting Pettigrew at number 11 for the Bills, and that would be just fine with me. But will the perennial 7-9-0 Bills now take a pass because of his slow time in the 40, and allow him to drop down to New England, Pittsburgh, Indy, San Diego or even the newly good Cardinals perhaps??
  21. Yeah sure, over 11,000 yards later, he may finally come to Buffalo. Did RJ even have that many yards passing for the Bills??
  22. Jason Peters made a mistake signing that contract - he and his agent never realized how much starting left tackles were worth, or they underestimated Peters' own talent. That said, for the inner-circle jerks to sit around and congratulate themselves on saving a ton of money by getting Peters to sign that contract, instead of rewarding him for becoming the 2 time Pro Bowl left tackle he has become, is a huge mistake on their part. You know the old saying, two wrongs don't make a right. The inner circle jerks need to re-do Peters' contract before training camp this season, or trade him if they don't think he is worth Jordan Gross, or even Derek Dockery money this season.
  23. I agree with none of it. Here's a question for the most liberal left wing civil rights activists out here: why doesn't Lynch have a permit to carry that weapon with him? If he would have had a legal license for it, there would have been no arrest, and then Marshawn and his friend could have turned the incident around on the cops in the media. They could have played the racist white cops profiling card till the cows came home. I get pissed off when cops use their power to hurt innocent people, black white or other. But in today's world, I would rather see them err on the safe side. Anthony, the writer of that article, was very sarcastic about how Lynch was not about to go rob a bank or liquor store with his unlicensed gun. Well, how do we know that? Who was the other guy in the car with Lynch, and what were they doing parked on the side of the road? That's all the cops wanted to find out.
  24. I find myself struggling to find a silver lining with our economy. I gotta admit it's frustrating. Anyone else with me here? Oh, EVERYONE agrees with me? Now there's a surprise. OK, too sarcastic, right? Sorry. Well I say everybody just chill out and see what happens beginning March 1st. We might all think we're doomed, but then again, maybe the inner circle jerks will finally do some things right and put together a winning team next season. Crazier things have happened.
  25. Here's why your post is unclear, San Jose; because you seem to be sarcastic and negative about the Bills bringing back Buddy. Did you even read that biography before posting it? I'm damn thrilled that Nix is back helping the inner circle jerks figure out how to get that elusive freakin' 8th win of the year. If you think re-hiring Nix is something to mock, then you are expecting way too much from this organization lately.
