  1. My take is that the Kansas City major is trying to make a political statement. His budget will never pass stipulating that the money to the Kaufman Sports Complex be cut. The are just now pumping over 300 Million into Arrowhead to modernize it. The Chiefs are going nowhere. Since the Royals barely put much more then a good Triple A team on the field year in and year out, I doubt the fans would care if they left town anyway.
  2. Scripted or not, Owens did say one very smart thing: Nobody expected the Cardinals to be in the Super Bowl this past season. I'm not saying the Bills will be the 2009 surprise SB team, by any stretch of my imagination. But every year is a crap shoot, and that makes every "5 year deal" more like a "one year at a time up to 5 year deal". Just ask the other new Buffalo Bill, Drayton Florence, about his "5 or 6 year deal" he signed with Jacksonville right about this time last year! So my somewhat long winded point is this: Owens was refreshingly honest in his press conference. He only cares about 2009, with the Buffalo Bills. When asked what "tipped the scales for Buffalo", he said...."nothing did." He even came right out and said, "it could have been the money, it could have been this or that..." He even played the "God has a plan for me" card. The bottom line is, OF COURSE IT WAS THE 6.5 MILLION DOLLARS FOR ONE YEAR. And what is wrong with that?? The man said he practices and playes just as hard no matter what jersey he is wearing. Let's see if he can make some plays THIS SEASON, while he's wearing a Bills jersey, and help this team win at least 8 or 9 games.
  3. You can not underestimate Russ Brandon's marketing expertise. Remember, this is the guy that has sold the Bills to season ticket holders during this entire 9 year playoff-less era. He may not yet be a great GM, but there cannot be a GM in the NFL that can match his marketing talents. Brandon sat back and watched Coles go to Cinci, watched T.J. sign with Seattle, and then most likely called Ralph and said something like, "enough was enough, now we have to do it MY way." He may have even had his eyes on Harrison (my personal choice for old receivers), but figured T.O. would bring more media blitz bang for his buck.
  4. Yeah, I would like to call out the guy with the heart felt story of how he lives down in Virginia somewhere, is blessed with money, drives 9 hours both ways every Sunday, used to play and coach baseball in Pittsburgh area, and has finally given up on his season tickets to remodel his basement. What do you think now? Is T.O.'s circus worth the money you can afford and those 18 hour drives again...for at least one more season? If it blows up, you can always write us another story of how you are still wealthy, but the Bills have broken your heart yet again.
  5. You can never have enough Godfather quotes....nice job!!
  6. "I was a little surprised at first," said defensive end Chris Kelsay. "When you looked around at our team and the needs we have, wide receiver wasn't the first one that jumped out. But it's great to add talent. Yeah Chris, a bigger need would be to replace your over-quoted under-achieving butt at defensive end. Maybe signing a nut like T.O. is a good sign that the Bills might finally be looking for talented players instead of overpaid below average players that are good "quotes" and good guys, like Mr. Kelsay.
  7. That worked out pretty good for us, relatively speaking. Bledsoe came in and led the Bills to one 8-8 & one exciting 9-7 season out of his 3 years in Buffalo. Too bad he played one of his worse games as a Bill in the biggest one, at home against the Steelers to end the 2004 season, which if he had led them to a win, would have put them into the playoffs. If Owens stays healthy the entire season (huge if at 35-36 years old), the potential is there for him to have a huge impact on the field for the Bills offense this year. After stupidly letting Coles go to the Bengals, I think this is a terrific bold move by the marketing man Brandon and his fellow circle jerks.
  8. I hate to break it to Rosenhaus and T.O., but Dallas is in "North America" too.
  9. I am pleasantly surprised to see Marshawn Lynch buying Jimbo's house in OP. I have said a few times that I thought Kelly was a genius and way ahead of his time to have a full size night club type bar complete with a dance floor built in his basement years ago when he was young and wild. He had a experienced a few run-ins out at the bars in Buffalo, and decided to have his fun in the privacy of his own home. There is not a more apporpriate young Buffalo Bill to follow in those footsteps then Lynch. Now that he has this house, he should stop driving cars of any kind, and invite the current Bills over for "fun nights" just like Jimbo used to do. He can even turn Kelly's trophy room into a gun room if he wants. Marshawn can move his Mom back in, and begin to keep a low low public profile while he does his community service and gets through his 3 year probation from his current "misdemeanors." Bottom line, living in a house like this should illustrate to Lynch that he can stay in, and still have 2009-type fun being so young. I hope the Bills stick with Marshawn and refuse to trade him. If the kid can grow up, he can be another future Hall of Fame Buffalo Bill in 10 years.
  10. Brag much? The BUFFALO BILLS section of your biography was heart felt, however, especially for an 11 year season ticket holder. It's too bad you are giving up on going to the games, since you can afford to still go. It's your personal choice, and its' the Bills loss - hopefully they will get better someday soon and you can drive up again.
  11. My take on your assessment: Florence Replaces McKelvin who split nickel with Youboty = Gain of Talent and depth at the nickel spot. McKelvin replaces Greer at CB = Equal to Gain of Talent by the end of the '09 season, as McKelvin settles in to starting. Anybody to replace Dockery will = Gain of Talent, since Dockery sucked and was a huge waste of valuable money. Fitzpatrick replaces Losman = Gain of Talent, since Fitzpatrick is equal at QB, but will be a much bigger help to Trent. Hangartner replaces Fowler+Preston = Gain of Talent. (both Fowler & Preston sucked at center.) Anybody to replace Royal will = Gain of Talent (As long as the new TE can catch passes when wide open for first downs.) Nobody to replace Lynch who will be suspended for one to five games....or 8 games to an entire season, for all we know. That one I agree with, Lynch is a special talent on the field, and I think the Bills should suck it up and keep him on the team.
  12. Here are Gallaway and 4 other older receivers still left on the market: Past 3 seasons combined stats: Ike Hilliard - 143 catches, 7 TD's 32 Years Old Joey Gallaway - 132 catches, 13 TD's - 37 Years Old Marty Booker - 115 catches, 9 TD's - 32 Years Old Marvin Harrison - 175 catches, 18 YD's - 36 years old Bobby Engram - 165 catches, 7 TD's - 36 years old Gallaway's the oldest, but his production is right up there with the other 4 over the past 3 seasons. The no-brainer of that list to me is of course Marvin Harrison, he had 60 catches last season, and over 90 the season before. But I doubt Russ and the jerks would be willing to pay him what other teams might as the other younger free agent WR's get signed up.
  13. It really isn't outrageous at all. And it means nothing after the guaranteed bonus money. Look at our newest CB, Florence. He signed with the Jags last year at this time for 6 years, $36 Million. As it turned out, he earned a whopping $13 Million in bonus and guaranteed salary for his one year there, and he got cut. No wonder the kid was willing to sign for so much less this year with the Bills. That's why I think the Jags were nuts to cut him after only one season. So Jabari's salary is really more about his up front bonus and first couple of years' salary, more then his 4 years for 23 Million.
  14. When I gave up my seasons after the 1996 season, when both Jimbo and Kent Hull retired together, I never imagined how little I would miss from that day on! I feel bad for you and all the season ticket holders.
  15. I count about 20 FA WR's left that can catch the ball OK, worth way less then 6 Million a year.
  16. True. And that's maybe because the overall record of the Bills has been 7-9-0 for three consecutive years now. If they had gone 13-3-0, 13-3-0 and 11-5-0, like the did from 1990-1992, the overall tone would be the Bills are destined to continue to be a great team and hopefully win a Super Bowl soon.
  17. Don't read it, or have the "post-master" remove it if you don't like it.
  18. Here's the thing. Coles walked away from 6 Million a year guaranteed from the Jets. Now to me, that is a strong clue he just may have wanted more money then that. He came to Buffalo first, and I'm just spit-balling here, but my guess is that he conveyed that desire to Brandon and his circle jerks. No matter what we think Coles might be worth, Brandon knew what needed to be done to sign the guy. I read from "sources" Brandon offered 3 years at 6 Million a year? I'm not a math genius, but that's not more then 6 Million a year, it is the same. Miami passed, surprised me, I thought for sure the Fins would sign him. But there was good old "cheapskate" Mike Brown, of all NFL owners, willing to give Coles an extra million dollars a year for an extra year in the contract. Who ever thought Mike Brown and the Bengals would "overpay" for a free agent? Small market Cincinnati? Well, they did not overpay for Coles. They paid the right amount to sign him, according to him and his agent. Sure Brandon, Wilson, the circle jerks and even the vast majority of TSWers out here can sit around and laugh at the money the Bengals overpaid to get Coles. Bottom line? Brandon blew it when he had the chance to "overpay" for Coles himself. And if he would have offered Coles 28 Million dollars last week before he ever left Buffalo and signed him, I'm sure most of the fans out here would be freakin' happy about it, and not mocking out the Bengals right now. But that's just me.
  19. I'm a jack ass for "accusing" you of being my age? I'm a jack ass for forgetting the old shows are on TV Land? I have to admit, first I thought you were funny to come up with that old Red Foxx line, now I am convinced you are nothing more then an ass-HOLE.
  20. You make an excellent point. Turk threw the O-Line under the bus recently whining about Trent not having the time to get the ball down the field. Hardy was healthy until December, Parrish was available, and Evans was healthy all year. It seems to me that Edwards should have been able to get the ball out underneath to Parrish or Hardy when he played a lot more then he did. Schemes, coaching and as always, poor O-line play may have had more to do with the Bills' anemic passing attack then not drafting Royal over Hardy.
  21. Cinci did not lose their best receiver. Chad Johnson (I won't use his other name) is the number one receiver, when healthy, for the Bengals. Maybe now that T.J. is gone, Chad may clear his head and come back to camp ready to play again with a healthy Carson Palmer. The Bengals are not as desperate as you are thinking.
  22. There is your answer. And it is not the possible suspension, in my opinion based on the way Goodell has come down on off-field behavior, it is the suspension of Lynch, and how long it may be. I'm guessing it will be at least 8 games, because Goodell let Lynch off without missing any games after his "traffic accident" less then a year ago. I think the circle jerks may be thinking the same thing about Marshawn, and want some insurance at RB. I don't think the Bills will trade Lynch, he has too much upside after this incident is over, and he's still a very young man.
  23. You're right. The Broncos drafted cousin Eddie, not Kansas City.
  24. Steely Dan, you're showing your age with your Sanford & Son take. (Of course, so am I by recognizing it.)
  25. Eddie Royal was taken in the second round last year with the very next pick by the Chiefs after James Hardy. You know how that rookie WR did? How's 91 catches for 980 YDS & 5 TD's grab you? The Bills could have drafted him instead of Hardy, but then again, the Bills needed that elusive "tall" wideout for the red zone, right? I guess we should thank Tom Donahoe of all people, for drafting Josh Reed, Lee Evans and Roscoe. Since then, the Bills have not been able to find a pass catcher out of college who could remember what foot goes in front of the other, much less a potential Pro Bowler. On the other hand, it looks like the circle jerks may have lucked onto their version of Donahoe's Jason Peters' undrafted rookie free agency signing, with 7th round pick Stevie Johnson from last year's draft. If the kid can pick up where he left off, he could be a great story.
