I've never replied to my own post before, and I'm sure to be flamed for it, but I need to make a correction...of course not all 32 teams' fans suffer, becuase one team wins the SB every season. Sorry, I got carried away. Plus, the Steelers certainly don't spend the same money as the Cowboys or Redskins, and they have won or at least played in a SB every decade since the 70's, and have won the most SB's all time. So my post in certainly not totally accurate. But my point about at least half of the NFL owners remains valid. They voted for this system, and then they sit back and let the other owners take advantage of it while they whine about the money being spent.

No, you found the exact words to express what you mean, I have never agreed more with a post on this board then yours! I used to complain after each SB loss that Wilson and Polian need to make the right changes for the Bills to win the SB the following season! Can you imagine that? Talk about being spoiled back then in the early 90's. Despite the fact the Bills had the talent and the passion to be great and were great, as a true Bills fan, I was impatient for them to get over that last reamaining obstacle, and WIN THE SB. Shows you how much I've been slammed back to the real world in the past 16 years or so. My take is simple. It's not a players league, nor a fans league. It is an owners' league. Each individual owner decides how much under or over (by using the signing bonus clause) the salary cap they want to be before they even think about "winning the SB." They decide on how much to pay their GM's, scouts and coaches (which don't even count against the salary cap), before they even think about "winning the SB." And these owners are emotional, and sometimes jealous of eachother. For all we know as dumb Bills' fans, Ralph Wilson may have more money in his vast fortune then Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder combined. Yet Ralph Wilson is jealous of the markets their NFL teams are in, and jealous of the stadiums their teams play in, so he decides in his own mind, how much money he is willing to spend on his NFL team....fans be damned. It's much worse in baseball. Who knows how rich the Reds or Royals' owners may be in real life? Yet they decide every season not to compete for championships because of the money their fellow owners are willing to spend to get them. Blame the owners. They created this mess, and they decide whether or not to compete within it, to the complete detriment of the 32 teams' fans, who like you and I, only want to see their teams win the damn Super Bowl when the season starts in September!

Bills win on MNF will make them a crazy story for weeks
VJ91 replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you kidding? They went 4-0 last year without T.O., remember?? I won't get excited about any one win by the Bills this coming season until they clinch a playoff spot. Sorry, but I'm not a young guy anymore. I have fresh memories of the Bills going 8-0 or even 10-0 before even losing a game. I am very tired of this 9 year non-playoff "steak". -
Hilarious.

Richard Seymour's wife plays dirty too.

This is non-Bills related. Please post elsewhere, and get it off the "main board." Thank you. -
They are talking about possibly trading for Jason Peters
VJ91 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points, all valid. You are missing the big picture however. Peters is that good. He is huge, fast, strong and I don't care how many Bills fans' think this is meaningless, a two time consecutive Pro Bowler. Why should the Bills settle for a lesser talent when they simply don't have to? Not very many NFL players hol out an entire off season until the day before the first game of the regular season, and then have a Pro Bowl season. I can think of only Bruce Smith in my recent Bills memory who was every able to pull anything close to that off. So Evans didn't hold out and Peters did. So what? Every player is different. Plus Peters must regret holding out because he fired his agent. I say yes, pay the guy his money, secure one of the most important positions in the NFL with a bonified Pro Bowl player, and move on. -

Nice sarcasm The Senator. Do you anything original to add to the discussion, or are you the monitor of all posts that don't measure up to your unique standards?? -

Has anyone NOT seen the T.O. - Hitler video?....but still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Not original though. The exact same clip from that Hilter movie has been used for many other "dubbed subjects" including the Giants upsetting the Pats in the SB and something about Tim Tebow. Regardless, the T.O. dub is priceless. And oh by the way, the Bills may not be done in free agency, the Bills may move to Canada, but not until Wilson passes away, Losman sucks, T.O. may be a "cancer", but who cares if he duplicates his stats from last year, Hardy is anything but a bust so far, at least give the kid his knee rehab and second season as a pro, and Lynch is not a thug. And the season won't start until September 2009. (Sorry.) -

Outstanding post! You look around the NFL, and how many franchise left tackles are currently playing in the NFL, as young as Peters, with two consecutive Pro Bowls under their belts??? Of course this kid is worth the money or two number one picks. If the circle jerks trade him for less, then they are more pathetic then I give them credit for. -

Good point, we all saw his glaring mistakes - and they were most likley due to his idiotic hold out. (He has fired his agent since then.) However, combined with his mistakes, he obviously did enough good playing to be voted to another Pro Bowl by his peers. And like I said, the Eagles or some other team will pay him, and they will congratulate themsleves for doing it and their fans will settle in to watch their franchise left tackle take over on the left side. You can argue if he is quite that good now or not all you want. The fact remains, the Bills have him, they should pay him....now. -
B.S. No problem with his route and his pass catching on that sweet TD catch in the corner of the end zone against the Jags early in the season, was there?? Turk-ey got too full of himself and his "routes and schemes and reads" with this young raw talented TALL kid as the season wore on! How hard would it have been for Hardy to go out 4 yards and turn the freak around and catch a high pass for a first down on any third and three??? But noooooo...Turk-ey got angry when Hardy missed a read on a complicated nine read pattern from page 671 of Shonerts playbook, and bam...back to the bench for you stupid rookie! I hope Hardy's rehab is going well, and he gets back on the field for the start of the season. He is tall, and he is a weapon, and he will compliment T.O. and Evans just as much as Reed does if Turk-ey just gives the kid a chance!!

If the inner circle jerks had a unified brain, they would just make Peters the highest paid left tackle in the NFL. I mean come on, the Eagles will do it if they trade for him, right? The jerks tell us they like the extra cash from Toronto, and would even consider adding another regular season game to the Rogers Dome. Well, then spend the extra cash on Peters, and make him your franchise left tackle, dammit! -
Bills contact LT Peters to discuss new deal
VJ91 replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you drunk? If a player gets his new contract and his signing bonus, why in heaven's name does he still hold out?? -
Outstanding point. Peters fired idiot Parker because, in my opinion, he's a good kid who just wants to be a great football player. Obviously, the rest of his peers already think he's great, with the second Pro Bowl vote despite what all of we Bills fans think was an off year for him! No way does Peters hold out this season. My guess, is that he would like to actually play in one of these Pro Bowls, and these late season injuries - or at least last years - could be attributed to him being physically off the entire year by missing every freakin' workout the Bills held, right up unitl the eve of the first game of the season! I think Peters knows he going to get paid, and I think he is going to concentrate on football this season.

Don't discount the draft. There are some excellent tackles and centers that could step up and play this year, if the Bills draft one of them on day one.
-
....and that's why Brandon signed him in the first place. ESPN cameras are in Buffalo videoing his team and his training center and his quarterback on the first day of off season voluntary workouts?! And that's on a day that T.O. doesn't show up. Imagine all the press conferences from now until the end of the Bills season, live on ESPN and the other major networks, that will feature that ragin' Buffalo behind the speaker - Brandon and the inner circle jerks are lovin' it.

Lynch won't be suspended in my view
VJ91 replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lynch will miss the first 2-4 games, count on it. The NFL & MNF only chose Bills - Pats because of the T.O. show vs. Brady's first game back drama. They couldn't care less who the other 21 Bills are that line up against the Pats on that first Monday night of the regular season. If history holds true, it will take a 180 yard receiving game with 3 TD's for T.O., for the Bills to have any chance of starting their second consecutive season 1-0. -
Bills can stay in the Buffalo / Niagara region if........
VJ91 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If... 1) They raise the ticket prices up to at least the average price of the rest of the NFL teams. 2) Erie County, New York State and the fans/ tax payers guarantee the Buffalo Bills sell-out revenue every game, regardless of whether the tickets are actually sold or not. 3) Erie County, New York State and the fans/taxpayers offer the Bills a 100% free lease for the next 20 years, and offer them every penny of parking and concessions, while still paying all of the expenses for the stadium and maintaining it. 4) Erie County, New York State and the fans/taxpayers guarantee the Bills sold out luxury seating revenue every season, regardless of whether the luxury seating is sold out or not. Anything less then those conditions, the ownership group that purchases the franchise from the Wilson family would be absolutely crazy to keep struggling here like Wilson has. Other then a Jim Kelly - led group that just plain loves the BUFFALO Bills, I can't imagine this team staying here after Ralph passes away. -
Your favorite Bills player of all time and why...
VJ91 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly, hands down best all time Buffalo Bill. -
Dick, talking about T.O. attending the 12 week training session: “My hope is that he’s here. He knows how important it is for us, particularly in his first year with us.” Yeah Dick, that first year is really important for a player with a one year contract. !! Hank Bullough, anyone??

A rational person needs to give props to Peter's agent
VJ91 replied to DazedandConfused's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your post certainly contradicts your username. Well said. But I don't understand this last 3 Million a year the Bills won't pay. Three years ago they dished out $49 Million for Derick Dockery. And he is a guard, not even a right tackle. Tack on a conservative 5% increase per season, and that same contract would cost the Bills $56 Million for a guard today. $56 Million divided by 5 years is 11.2 Million per season, and 11 Million per is what you are saying Peters is looking for. Obviously the road block has to be the up front bonus and front loading of the guaranteed money Peters' agent is most likely demanding. Bonus cash and guaranteed money is what the problem always is for the Ralph Wilson Bills. No matter how smart Peters and his agent may be regarding this impasse, I still think the circle-jerks should ante up and pay the kid, and lock him up for the next 3 or 4 seasons at least, with a huge signing bonus and front loaded 7 or 8 year contract. If they trade him or let him hold out for three more seasons, finding another 2 time Pro Bowl left tackle under the age of 28 will be almost impossible. And even if they do luck out and draft one, by the time he becomes a Pro Bowler, he will only cost evern more money to sign to his long term contract. -
More then "just a playoff team"? When did the Bills become a playoff team?
-
You feel bad for him? Did you read the article? He signed with Denver in what, March of 2007? And the article said he's "only" earned 6.7 million out of his 25 million dollar five year contract since then. Well it's only been 24 months that he's earned 6.7 million dollars. Subtract 50% of that and that still comes out to just under $140,000.00 per month, right up to this month. With all of that, he can't afford the $170,000 per year in child support? That is only about 10% of his net earnings after taxes! What the hell did he do with the other 90% of the money the Broncos paid him?? In other words, Henry has managed to waste over $125,000.00 per freakin' month, every month for 2 years - and you feel bad for him? Oh wait, he's wasted more money then that, because he's been getting regularly sued by all 9 mothers for falling behind in that child support, that only totals around $14,000.00 per month. And have I mentioned the drug charges? I can't feel bad for an idiot like this. With all of that money, he had every opportunity in the world to afford some help and mentoring in his childish selfish out of control "life" in the fast lane.
