Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks
VJ91 replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the Bills actually did better then I thought they would. They actually got the second of Philly's first round picks in next weeks' draft and a fourth rounder. Since they were really just trying to dump his Peters and his salary demands, I thought for sure they would not even get either first round pick from the Eagles this season. So now Langston Walker can officially mover back over to the left side for good, and the Bills can draft a kid to compete for the starting right tackle spot. I wonder how warm and fuzzy Trent Edwards is feeling about this decision to save money?? Next, I can't wait to see what the Eagles sign him for. Anybody want to bet that he will get his 11 Million per season that so many die hard fans out here think he doesn't deserve?? -
If this trade goes through, I would be shocked if the Bills get even one 1st round pick out of the Eagles. Why? Because the Eagles will take advantage of the usual fact that Buffalo won't or can't pay Peters his money, while the Eagles will. I suppose the Bills should demand one of the Eagles two first round picks in this years' draft, and I really hope they do, don't get me wrong here! But this is just as mcuh of a good old fashioned salary dump as it is a supposed trade for "value", and the Eagles will be negotiating that fact down the circle jerks throats till the cows come home. I said it right from day one of Peters' hold out last season. The jerks should have paid the kid his money and let him become the force I know he has the talent to become for the next 10 years or so. We'll see how this works out for Philly and Buffalo.

You sound exaclty like the left wing radicals railing about capitalism and the military during the Bush administration for his 8 years in office. The liberal democrats take full power and here we go with the right wing radicals railing about communism and socialism. You need to have more faith in the people of this great country. Bush never did all the horrible conservative things the liberals accused him of doing, and now Obama won't do all of the horrible liberal things the conservatives are accusing him of beginning to do. The United States is too strong for all of this irrational ranting from either side. We are not just a smoke screen. We keep this country going, with all of our faults and frailities, as by far the greatest one in the world year after year, and generations after generation, becuase we have always value our FREEDOM most of all.

We owe Ralph, I have no problem with that. And I'm not saying Wilson owes us anything. I am saying he could have explored the Jim Kelly group sale before signing up with Toronto in the first place. If he needed that 9 Million per game so desperately, he could have simply asked for some minority partners, like those in the Kelly group for instance, to invest at least that much now so the BUFFALO BILLS could continue to compete in today's big business NFL. I am saying the man had options other then selling our home games out to Toronto. And that is my entire point of this thread.

Jim Kelly has said many times on many media formats that his ownership group is in fact a reality. Tell me what he has to gain from lying about this? Why don't you ask the Rooney family if they have sacrificed HUGE potential profits for winning two Super Bowls in this decade. I'm sure they would laugh at your claims that it is a myth to think they could not have earned more money by spending less on the talent they needed to win those SB's!! Kelly's group knows how much they would need to invest to purchase the Bills from Wilson, and he has said in no uncertain terms they would stay put and continue to be known as the Buffalo Bills. I would like to hear his group's plan for doing that before I ever agree with your negative statement. You live in Maryland....who cares?? I'm supposed to grow up, and just wish for Wilson to live to 110? What should I do if I decide not to grow up, wish that he lives to 115??
-
My "whining" about Ralph Wilson not allowing an ownership group buy the team that wants to keep the team in Buffalo, and keep the name BUFFALO Bills. You call that whining as a true Buffalo Bills fan? To me, it sounds more like a reasonable complaint, but what do I know right? Maybe Tom Golisano should move the Sabres up to Hamilton for 20 home games himself this coming season. Just look at all the profits he could earn, and then I can call up my local New York state politicians and blame them for him doing that too. And oh by the way, venting my anger at New York State government would be much more "productive" right? How's that new Peace Bridge coming along? And how is Erie County doing paying their vendors these days? Yeah, that's the ticket, I'll vent at New York State.

Excellent post, and I would agree 100% if not for the main point of my thread! Jim Kelly and his partners are out here telling Wilson to give them a chance to take over the franchise and let them figure out how to keep the team viable in Buffalo! Either you are like other fans out here and simply think Jimbo is lying, or you really think Wilson deserves to maximize his profits for his family after he's dead.

I don't understand how you can write Kelly off so easily. That downtown bar of his?? What does that prove? Certainly you have to agree that Kelly is far different person now then when his bar went under and he stiffed paying some of his vendors. I am not saying Jim Kelly is perfect, he never has been! However, people can change. The man has lived through the horror of watching his only son die from a terrible disease at 8 years old, and has come out of that dreadful experience committed to helping all new borns in the country through his wildly successful Hunters Hope Foundation. And it is not only to find a cure for the exact disease that killed Hunter. He has expanded his efforts into mandatory testing for many more diseases for every baby born in the country today, then most states currently test for. So it seems that Jim Kelly has grown up, more painfully then most of us are forced to grow up I might add. And a man this serious in life would not go around saying he has partners ready right now to buy the team from Ralph, as soon as Ralph might be ready to talk, if that were not true. That makes absolutely no sense to me. He goes from state to state speaking to politicians and anyone else that will listen about demanding more disease testing for new born babies. Of course he talks football and his passion for the Buffalo Bills while he's doing it. Do you really think he would be out there on radio shows across the country lying to everyone about having an ownership ready to do business if it were not true? What would he have to gain by stupidly bragging about something like that? This is not Pete Rose charging fans $200.00 for autographed baseballs at sleazy memorabilia shows and lying about never betting on baseball we are talking about here. Kelly is out there on serious business for Hunters Hope. So I refuse to accept this b.s. about Kelly not really having an ownership group together. I believe he has, and has tried to get them to talk to Wilson about it, and Ralph has decided not to do it.

Phil Lind of Rogers Communications has decided it's time to start getting serious about more regular season Bills games just one year into the current deal.... "It's hard to say when and where it will happen, but over time we hope there'll be more games here and Buffalo (ownership) hopes there'll be more games here," Lind said. ...Buffalo ownership hopes they'll be more games in Toronto...4 months before Ralph is inducted to the HOF?? Now there's a nice kick in the gut to Bills' fans that don't live in Ontario, huh? Ralph Wilson could have gone in an entirely different direction with the Bills. He could have already sold the team to Jim Kelly's group, paying the dreaded taxes and still ending up with at least what, 200 or 300 million dollars in pure after-tax profits, since he has no "mortgage to pay off" on his Buffalo Bills investment. Imagine the reception he would have gotten in Canton this August had he taken that path. Tens of thousands of Bills fans honoring the man who not only had kept the team in Buffalo himself almost 50 years, but who also sold the team to the one group dedicated to keeping the team in Buffalo. Instead, let's take a look at Ralph Wilson as is. Over 90 years old, still whining about Buffalo's small market, to the point he has taken home games out of his own stadium 90 miles into Canada to "compete" with the other teams. At the same time, he and his marketing guru have already made quiet agreements that even more then one regular season game a year may be leaving Orchard Park down the line. And finally, as he makes his induction speach this August, we BUFFALO Bills fans will know that the minute this guy passes away, our Bills will be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of their plans of what they will do with the franchise. And why has he taken this path? Pure greed. Greed to earn more money now, and greed for his heirs to earn more money after he dies. Money that he won't get any use of when he dies, and I am convinced he absolutely doesn't need now during his last years on this earth. Business people reading this can flame away at me. I have always believed owning a sports franchise goes beyond just the business of making every last buck they can. At some point, the franchise owners that have won championships or that have really cared about their fans, have decided that money was not the most important aspect of owning their teams. Shame on you Ralph, for making this deal with Toronto instead of just selling the team to a group that seems to just want to keep the team here in Buffalo.

Really? Well, once I posted a thread telling the All Pro posters to stop flaming the rookies for posting old threads. One of the All Pros, "The Dean" wrote this reply back: "Not sure why you felt compelled to post this, actually. I found it amusing that you chose the wrong forum, though, You've been around long enough to know this thread is not "Bills related" and doesn't belong on the main board. But, given the content of your post, it sounds as if you don't really give a s#it about the rules, and customs of this community. I'm going to guess that you haven't bothered to read the Terms of Service, which outline some of the guidelines for this website: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=boardrules Now, I don't think most of the posters here really care much, if a poster is very new, or a vet. I will speak for myself, though. Sometimes when I see a post that post, or thread, that is so obviously out-of-step with the norms that have been established here, I take a peek at their post count. If it's someone new, I might try some friendly advice on what is normally done, around here. Also, if the handle seems unfamiliar, I might do the same, and say "Welcome" if the poster is very new. If a long-time contributor makes, what at first blush, seems to be a rare gaff, I probably let him/her slide, figuring they know the score around here. So, if that counts as caring about post counts, then I have to plead guilty. Otherwise, I don't care all that much. As you may have noticed, this is a very lightly moderated board. I visit other forums that are very heavily moderated, where repeat threads on the same issue are quickly squashed (closed or merged) and posters are warned for abuse. Here, we do a little bit of self regulation, when we can. But, I trust you notice what happens when things get out of hand: a mod, usually Simon, starts shutting down thread, after thread. Is that what you want to have happen, on a regular basis? So, I won't apologize for the fact that many of us treat this community as such...it is a community. Many of us, know each other in real life. New posters are more than welcome...in fact they really keep the place active and alive, IMO. But, I don't think this place has ever been a free-for-all, without some guidelines, and traditions. So, honestly, I think the poster that really needs to get over himself, is you. It seems you don't like the community, as is, yet you want to stay, and enforce your standards, instead of respecting the standards that were in place in the community you decided to join." So I ask, what does "...this thread is not "Bills related" and doesn't belong on the main board...." mean to you? -
Looking at the Bills depth chart as of today
VJ91 replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It has changed. It's gotten worse. Donahoe ended up being an egotistical joke. Marv Levy came in and try as he might, actually made things worse with his inexperience in management and hiring of Jauron. Now all we have is the circle jerks with their collaborations, and Jauron still the head coach. Despite all of that, with a little luck on the injury front, there is still enough talent on this roster to inch towards the playoffs this year with the addition of a motivated T.O. and his usual 10 TD catches counted into the mix! Here's the most important thing that must happen for the Bills to compete in '09: Edwards has to stay healthy, and whoever ends up being on the OL, they must keep Edwards upright long enough for him to get the ball to his new weapon Owens, and his old weapon but now more open Evans! Everything else will fall into place if the Bills can suddenly become at a top 10 - 15 offense for the entire season. -
Peyton Manning, his career inching closer to the end
VJ91 replied to Romeo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like goalies in the NHL, QB's in the NFL seem to last a hell of lot longer then they should. There have always been at least 10 excellent QB's playing in their mid to late 30's every single year in the NFL since I started watching the game way back in the late 60's. I still remember George Blanda winning games for the Raiders as a QB and a kicker into his 40's back in the early 1970's! Your story is nothing new, but I do find it interesting in that those teams will be struggling to find replacements for maybe years, when those guys finally retire. But for Manning and McNabb, they've already played 10 or more years for their respective teams, so Indy and Philly are way ahead of the game. Look at Buffalo after Kelly gave us 11 amazing seasons. It's now been 12 years since his retirement, and the Bills have never really replaced him. -
What about one of the centers before a pure guard?? That would be my choice.

Outstanding. I did not know it was their first MNF loss. As for the man himself, I'm old enough to remember when he first started in the booth in the late 70's. He was an absolute original, and everybody loved his style. Through the years, he stayed on top without ever really changing his style, and that is hard to do in any field. He had an amazing career as a color guy, and he will be the last great one ever. Today, it is all about the technology. The yellow first down line. 4 replays of every play from 4 different angles. HDTV that puts you "on the field." When John Madden first started, I remember thinking how great it was for him to do a rare Bills game against an NFC opponent. Now, I could care less who the announcing team is, because it really doesn't matter anymore. -

Are you kidding?? This MAIN BOARD was set up AS a Bills-only board! Of course, they will only remind you of this when they don't like your non-Bills related thread. -
Thanks for the info. I had it backwards. I thought the NFL only wanted their money, and didn't care where the cable providers put their tiers. I really don't understand the NFL's stance on this. They are all about money as it is. $1.99 per month?? I would do back flips if it only cost $1.99 a month more to get that station!

I'm predicting Peters will be signed before draft
VJ91 replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's my vote: anyone who posts about threads or topics being old or repeated, should get thrown out. Because after all, if you think the post is old or repeated, all you have to do is not read it and move on, right? -
Cardinals willing to listen to offers for Boldin
VJ91 replied to DPR4444's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about to Buffalo for Jason Peters, straight up? The Cards get their LT after Gandy's horrible game in the SB, while the Bills can add another premier pass receiver to their arsanal. And maybe they would even sign Boldon for more then one lousy season! The Bills could plug Walker in on the left side, and then draft a rookie to compete for the right side. -

Please allow me turn this into a topic that belongs on this "main board": John Madden, who's Raiders lost a classic MNF game in the last seconds on a catch by Ahmad Rashad to the Buffalo Bills, back in 1974, announced his retirement from announcing. -
Nice comments, Hulk. Here's a thought along the O.J. lines: Now that the Juice has been convicted of a felony and is residing in prison for the next 8 years or so, isn't it time to remove his name from Ralph's wall, and replace it with perhaps Lou Saban, who never murdered anyone, and never held up anyone while stealing from them??
-
Willy got a lot of compliments on his arm and presence in the pocket. I won't be surprised to see him get drafted in the 6th or 7th round, or sign a free agent contract with a team at the worst. It would be fun to have him in camp this summer in Pittsford, and see him battle for the third spot - the Bills have made worse late round picks and have signed worse free agents for training camp in the past!
-
Very cool. I'm signing up.

Needs aside, the player you want most
VJ91 replied to Food_Pyramid_Wrong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reaching or not, in whatever round, I want a stud center who can take over for the next 10 years and quarterback the OL like Kent Hull during his 10 years here! If the circle-jerks have that guy high on their board, and are convinced he won't be there in the second round, then damn it trade down, gain another pick or two, and draft him late in the first round if he just isn't "#11" worthy!!
