  1. That's pretty ridiculous - glad I couldn't hear it then.
  2. A similar topic was just on Rome's ESPN show - the description was "Owens - good fit for Buffalo?" and Rome was talking about it with 2 guests. I was in the employee cafeteria so I could barely hear it - anyone happen to catch it, and what they discussed? I ask because it seemed like a fairly heated discussion that went on for a few minutes.
  3. I saw him two years ago at the Mirage. Personally I thought it was the best show I've seen in town, and I've seen alot of them - although since that show I saw LOVE and think that is my favorite/best. His show was a combination of comedy, impressions, singing, just overall performing. He mimiced many famous singers in many different kinds of songs, and was also very good at comedy including a bit as Johnny Carson / Carnac and another as Jeff Foxworthy doing the "redneck" bit. He was consistently thought of as one of the top performers and one of the hardest working as well, on the strip. The thing that stood out to me the most about his show was that it was about 90 minutes but it seemed like he NEVER took a break - I thought that was remarkable. In that sense I would call him the best pure entertainer I have seen, here or anywhere else. He also has been lauded, before yesterday, for being very family oriented, community oriented, and very "giving" of his time, which is a contrast to other entertainers/celebrities/millionaires (Criss Angel for example). This is from all accounts, from people that knew him personally. He will definitely be missed around town, I am glad I was able to see his show.
  4. Thanks for the shoutout - I work for MGM. I am in the finance side, but more so with respect to operations on property, don't deal with the corporate "mess" we have now. But I am very happy with this latest news nugget: http://www.lvrj.com/business/44016137.html - hopefully that will bump up the price a bit and we can start to dig ourselves out a little, since the cloud around that project was growing by the day. Amazing to look at the chart and see the highs near 100 in late 07, and then the low of I think it was 1.89 in early March. So mid 6's is a pretty good comeback. Unfortunately I don't have any "inside" info on ours or other gaming/casino stocks, but as you can see in their historical performance when the overall economy is doing well, they do really well. I know a number of friends and colleagues who have been gobbling up some shares when it was in the 2-3 range. With respect to Boyd, the big hinge for them is how their Echelon project pans out. They were pouring money and resources into its development and construction but halted last summer in order to save cash. Since the credit market/ economy has gotten much worse since, it will be interesting to see what they do long term with that land. That does leave them with some cash in the short term that they can float to buy some other pieces at a cheap price, perhaps. I will say that we are doing everything imaginable to cut costs, since the top line is just not there and probably won't be for at least 9-12 months. Aside from the stock, now and the next few months continues to be a great time to visit Las Vegas. Everything is becoming very cheap as all of the hotels need to discount to drive business, traffic, and some kind of revenue. THat should continue for a while, unfortunately for those of us who are in the middle of it!
  5. Interesting review of tonight's show from USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/re...24-review_N.htm Note - there may be a few SPOILERS in there, well mainly in a picture, so if you don't want to see it, just wait to read until after tonight's episode. Pretty interesting perspective on the season, though.
  6. I think I saw another Entourage cast member appearance with the VP's Chief of Staff - wasn't that Adam Davies? Also, can they stop calling them "safe rooms"? That makes 2 this season (along with the one with PM Matobo) where the folks inside weren't really "safe" at all. Just call them a spot to go until the next commercial, when the bad guys figure out a way to penetrate the impenetrable walls.
  7. Little known but true fact. It doesn't help for Clark County that, as anyone who has been here knows, there are millions of little fliers/cards that are given out to people as they walk the strip that have girl's pictures on them and phone numbers. But all actual brothels are outside the county lines. The closest is in Pahrump, about 2 hours west, near the California stateline. Once when a friend was driving down here from Reno he stopped at this place: http://www.shadyladyranch.com/ - he walked in and got to look at the "lineup" - said he never wanted to do anything just wanted to see it, I believe it but we gave him sh-- for it still. Anyone looking for a prostitute while in Vegas is bound to wind up with one of these ladies - http://www.lvrj.com/news/39633407.html. Although they are certainly experienced, I wouldn't recommend it.....
  8. Very good chance on this (the first part). Most fans probably assume Tony "turned" back and is on Jack/WH's side. The way this show goes, he'll probably change "roles" a few more times before the season ends. COnstant rollercoaster.
  9. Thirded. Although I will say I was laughing out loud when Billy Walsh offed his girlfriend then tried to run out of the building. Classic Nina Meyers move.
  10. I will say that the hat was subtle, and up close you could see it. A couple people recognized him, not sure if the hat helped in that or not. Overall though he was pretty low key and didn't really talk much about the show.
  11. Yea I don't think he could deny that 24 was his biggest, no only, claim to fame. He wore a hat that said "Twenty Four" on it even I actually thought Tony was going to be the one to pick up the Pres. daughter, and then kidnap her as he turns back to the "dark side" with the British guy. Maybe next week?
  12. I met the actor who plays Pierce last year, he said he didn't think he'd be back on 24 because of his new role on Friday Night Lights, but it was probably hard to turn down what is probably his most lucrative and highest profile role. Good season thus far - feel like some has been changed up from prior seasons, but some of the old favorites are still there - "dammit Chloe!"
  13. Wow great thread. Most of my favorites (except for the loaded hoagy at Jim's) can be found at Gino's Pizza in Tonawanda. Worked there for 2 years during high school (Ken East was across the street) and had everything on the menu countless times. Favorites included the pizza sub, chicken finger, cheeseburger, and royal. Wow- Gino even got himself a website: http://www.ginospizzaplace.com/index.html I haven't worked there in almost 8 years but it's fun to see the website and taste some of the pizza! Btw, anyone who didn't work in a local, neighborhood place in Buffalo would not want to see the "back of house". But the food was great!
  14. A heads up to all who travel in or out of Buffalo (probably most of the people on this site): http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/buffalo.html Here are the important restrictions: -Purchase must be made between October 21, 2008 and October 23, 2008 for travel October 28, 2008 through February 12, 2009. -Blackout dates apply November 20, 2008 through December 2, 2008 and December 18, 2008 through January 4, 2009. If any portion of travel falls on a blackout date the discount will not apply. Personally I am cancelling my current flight to Buffalo for MNF and booking one from southwest, even with the cancellation fee from Delta this is cheaper.
  15. Bump - I will be in Seattle this weekend for the UW-ND game Saturday, staying through Sunday afternoon. I am the only Bills fan in the group so I may not be able to get out on my own, but would anyone recommend Jillian's or Sully's for this weekend's game? As long as it's got decent food I am happy just wondering which was preferred by the Seattlites. Thanks in advance.
