  1. thank you...my point exactly...he put up better numbers as a #3 WR than a #2 WR...

Its also interesting that Breston as the #3 WR in AZ and a rookie managed to top 1000 yards and put a better season than Bryant ever did in the same offense...

Don't get me wrong because I am no avid Bryant Johnson fan. But it's kind of unfair to compare the two. Breaston got to play the #2 WR a few times this season. And Kurt Warner this year does not compare to any QB Bryant Johnson ever had.

That being said those are impressive numbers for Breaston. Do I think Bryant Johnson could achieve those numbers this season in Arizona? Probably not, but I think he could have been near them.

  2. Historically not true...Giants won on a fluke play last year or it wouldnt have even been true last year. A guy who barely makes the team this year after his SB heroics makes a lucky catch on his helmet, otherwise, Giants lose.

The year before Defense didnt win...Colts beat Bears...

Truth is, matchups win championships as another poster said, its not nearly as black and white as "defense" wins championships.

    I'll second that.

  3. I am very happy for him. But I think the real importance to the team here is that Lynch will now have the opportunity to meet and hopefully attempt to recruit stars who may be going into free agency, etc. I think this is a vastly under-reported byproduct of the trip to Hawaii. And I think Marshawn is the perfect person to be doing that for the Bills right now. He is passionate, young and will certainly impress others all week long.

Hmmm. I don't know if Marshawn would be the best delegate for the Bills on getting players to come here. I love the guy but I can't see another NFL player taking him seriously in a conversation.

  4. Paying anyone 7 or 8 or 9 million a year who is mediocre---thats overpayment.sorry. Schobel used the fact that we had fat Pat and Ted and the other fat guy in the middle...snuck in for some unimportant sacks at unimportant times....Never got consistent pressure even when he was young. Now that he has not much support on the line he has been exposed for the utter mediocrity that he is.--That being said I think he works hard--and I dont blame him for being a slow 243 pound white man who gets manhandled and is a non-factor. If I were him I'd be stealing the Bills money too.

Bingo. Yes at the time we had no choice but to pay him what we did. But now that his true colors are showing it's time to cut the chord. Believe it or not guys do get old. I would like to see someone give me one reason that Schobel will have a better season than the last two. Because if you don't think he can than he should be cut.

  5. The Patriots are going nowhere. The way Belichick coached up Cassell during the season was the stuff of legends. Early in the season, he was awful, and by the end he was a good QB. We're lucky that tiebreakers kept NE out of the playoffs because they could've won their 4th championship the way the playoffs have been going. McDaniel leaving? So what? Charlie Weiss left, Romeo Crennel left. Belichick will just take the next hard working young man and coach him into a good coach as well. Pioli leaving? Knowing the Patriots, they probably had a succession plan in place for awhile now, and Belichick has always had a lot of say in personnel matters. If he has to take on more duties wrt personnel, he'll probably succeed.

Give this man a gold star. (That's not sarcasm)

  6. The Bills are irrelevant. That's the issue. They're not a laughingstock, they're just totally off the radar. A team that never breaks out of that 6-10 to 9-7 morass of nonplayoff teams. They've had no notable players, no notable coaches.

But then, at the same time, they're not laughable. They play most teams close, and have only one truly terrible season in the past 20 years. This manages to exclude them from "Who will go in the top 5?" conversations, and nobody's ever watching us to see if we go 0-16 or break the record for points allowed, or anything like that.

We have this terrifyingly long playoffless streak, but I bet outside of Buffalo, nobody's heard of it.

This is the saddest truth in the world (slight exageration.) The Bills somehow manage to stay away from every form of media attention possible because of how mediocre and boring they are.

  7. Nobody seriously cares if we have a white defensive end who has 15 sacks in a season or a black defensive end with 15 sacks in a season. Or anything else about race.

It's just been frustrating when it seemed like we kept drafting the same guy and it became a joke.

Exactly! All three are the same. I know Schobel WAS much better than the other two, but it doesn't seem like it anymore. When he did play last season he was nothing special.
