My fear is that we let Hughes walk because we think we have a shot at Revis. Then Revis turns around and resigns with the Pats and we don't end up with either. Could happen and that's what worries me here. A Hughes in the hand is worth a Revis in the bush!?

The notion that the offense will be worse if we sign Revis is flawed in my book. Yes more money will be allocated to an already stacked D, but we'd let Hughes and Spikes walk in this instance, which is almost comparable to what we'd end up paying Revis. We have a fair amount of cap space to play with and we're surely going to save more money by cutting guys like Pears. Also, the Roman hire alone will do more for this team than people expect. Having him in the fold will improve the team greatly before we even look to add additional pieces to the O in the offseason. No more Wilson is cheap and buddy is asleep at the wheel in Buffalo.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but have a theory: Polian gets elected to hall this weekend and then announces he's joining the bills. We're still looking for a czar and it's far from the lift he might of thought it to be post Dougie. The franchise seemed hot to hire someone for this role and we haven't heard much since Polian "turned them down." I'm probably wrong, but seems Infinitily plausible that he didn't want to jeopardize getting elected.

I would highly suggest folks on this board read the book. I'm only about 25% in, but it's a rare glimpse inside the game and Rex's philosophy. Also some of the assistants that he's brought to Buffalo. People will also find the Pettine material interesting too.

I'm currently reading Collision Low Crossers- recommended read for Bills fans- and it makes mention of Rex allowing his coordinators access to the media. His thinking is that he wants them to use it as professional development- see Pettine. Anyhow, I appreciate the approach. Aside from the occasional Hackett interview, we never got that from St. Doug. I don't think Rex is one to mislead. I'd expect him not to hide his fandom. I'm sure he'll have a story about coming to the aud and enjoying the rivalry...
