  1. One of the reason his play diminished was because Dallas switched its scheme. He had his probowl years in a 4-3 cover two style D. Which the Bills play now. Not saying he is a great cover safety by any means. But a few guys have stated he could be had relatively cheap comming off two injured arms last year. And yes he could play linebacker. He is a tough hitter, and i bet he could cover just as good as any linebacker the Bills currently have under contract. He was/has been mentioned to make the move to LB. I would not be surprised which ever team signs him will try to move him to a linebacker.
  2. They will have to release players or rework contracts to get under Cap. Or the NFL will step in and do it for them. I think this happened a couple years ago in Jax. They were way over the cap. Finally the NFL went down to Jax and said you have 24 hours to get under cap or we will do it for you. And the NFL doesn't take into account who you want or dont they just cut guys based on salaries to get you under the cap. I think i rember correctly but someone here can correct me if i am wrong.
  3. Leif Larsen? I dont remember him too much.? Did he have a very good career in college. As far as Raji pushing him around. If i rember correctly Mack looked a lot better in team drills then he did one on one. This is usually the case becasue very seldom is a center not recieving some form of help from a gaurd. Whether it is a chip block or a straight up double team. I am by no means suggesting the Bills take Mack late in the first or with their second pick. I would rather see a true gaurd in the second like Duke Robinson(who the Bills had the Oline coach scout at his proday last week).
  4. He is very good player. Watched Bama play a few times and that Oline looked stout. Dont really know what happened in the Bowl Game. Buffalo has a history of looking down south here for lineman. Jennings, Williams, and Peters come to mind. This kid would be a great pick in third. Pair him with Duke Robinson in the second you would be set for years at two interior positions.
  5. I am not so much worried about spelling Jackson. It will be the begining of the season. He should have fairly fresh legs. Bills will know what kind of suspension Lynch has way before preseason. So they will know not to run Freddy to much in preseason games. I am more worried about Lynch getting ready for r/t action. Practice and even preseason games dont simulate a reg season game. If it was to be four games that is a big curve to be behind the rest of the guys on the field. In then end we are worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. If it turns out to be 1-2 games then its not really an issue at all. And you could always pick up a vet running back for preseason/ first part of reg season to be your number 2 after the draft. Then moves to three when lynch returns
  6. Just because a guy is a first round pick doesn't mean he is automatically going to be a great player(we as well as anyone should know that). The list goes on and on both ways as far as first round busts and mid to late round stars that are in the league. The truly good longterm succesfull franchise know how to spot mid round guys 3-5 that will develope into starters. And yeah they dont miss on first or second rounders either.
  7. Maybe the Bills start 1-5 then go on a tear and win 9 out of last 10? Just kidding. There is no solution if Lynch gets suspended for the first 4 games. You can't find a good rb for 4 games. so you lean on Fred. It is the begining of the season so he should have fresh legs. Then once Marshawn comes back, you work him in. Fred gets to rest some middle of the season and he is ready for playoff push. Lets just pray Freddy doesn't get injuried in preseason the The Bills would really be FUBARD. Can a player practice with the team while he is serving his suspension? Just wondering so Lynch is not to out of shape once he does come back. We all saw what Peters looked like last year after missing a month of preseason.
  8. Ok first of all Hangartner was a backup. But was so on a very very good OLine. He was not resigned because the Panthers have a lot of money spent of Oline. Everyone in Carolina was sad to see him go. As far as the other LG goes, pretty much all the guys that were there two weeks ago are still there in FA. Simmons, Goff, etc.. have you seen any real signs in the last week? Teams are waiting out these guys. The price drops everyday just a little bit more. The Bills will pick up another vet LG and probably a LB. Then address other areas thru the draft. DE and more Oline help. I think the Bills are trying.
  9. With all these down the field weapons, should we have some underneath guys? Just saying, maybe Bills dont pick him up and the stay with Fine. You got two big time recievers in Evans and T.O. now who can stretch the field and occupy the corners and FS. You got Reed who is a good midrange guy. I know Fine isn't very flashy, but when given a chance last year he had some nice catches/games. If they got Scheffler i would not be upset by any means but would not want to give up more then a fourth for him as it stands now. still have holes on Oline, LB, and Dline that must be addressed. And then taking a T.E in the fourth is right back where you are now with Fine.
  10. Thank God. Good. so now what? The J.P comming back to the Bills rumor starts up ? Because he was seen eating wings at a Hooters.
  11. Yeah i understand the circumstances for the Cassell move and the Peppers one. However if the Bills are giving up McCargo, then i really would not think a fourth(hopefully a fith) is out the question. I hope Steve Johnson is not part of the deal. And i say that because him + another pick is a little much for me. And i am pretty sure the Broncos aren't going to trade straight up Johnson for Scheffler. Johnson showed a little glimpse that he could be a good wr. And if anyone knows that its Denver, he had his one good game against them.
  12. Very good. If the Bills could get him for a 4th round pick that would be nice. I mean if Carolina is looking at a second for Peppers. And Cassell and Vrabel were traded for a second. Then why couldn't the Bills get him for a fourth or maybe even a fith round pick?
  13. Yeah i never saw the Bills name on any of those 'we dont want him lists'. Not saying i saw it comming but looking back there were clues. Hindsight is 20/20.
  14. I never said it was fact i said it was Proof. Splitting hairs. And that is exactly whats wrong. You can be 'sophisticated' all you want. Reality is he broke the Law, he addmitted to that (he plead guilty), and now he should be punished. End of story. If you think otherwise then you are doing so because he plays for your team. And that is bad. Laws are more important then a football game/team.
  15. Not really proof? Seriously? Come on man. Either you are a blind homer, or can't admit when you are wrong. Facts are facts. I like him a lot but he makes some really bad judgement calls. He needs to sit a game or two. Maybe that will help him learn his leason. And then next offseason he wont do anything silly. For some reason we believe we shouldn't be held accountable for our actions anymore. Just look out the great 'Bailout'. Sorry he did it and it was against the Law and he has to pay the price for it.
  16. Watched NFL Live lastnight on ESPN. And Mortensen named about 6 teams. The Bills werent even mentioned. And i know people here don't like Mort but i am sure he would have mentioned Buffalo if he could have, just to stir the pot. I think the consensious from journalists and people who actually have sources in different teams, is that the Bills really like Trent. And he is their guy. Not saying it isn't possible (after T.O nothing will surprise me)but i think people on here have started the controversy, not reality. And his agent being in town didn't help out much either. But hopefully that is for the T.E. Something we actually need.
  17. I don't want to trade or get rid of any of those guys you listed. Peters is the only guy that i think the Bills might HAVE to trade. And the reason i say that is because he is asking for too much money and i dont like his attitude. Not going to get on a tangent about that and hijack this thread into a Peters one. Schobel when healthy is very good. Fans are fickle and want to win now. And so do the Bills, sometimes injuries do play a big role in how well your team plays. If Schobel comes back healthy this year and has 12 sacks or so and the front line gets pressure, then Whitner, McGhee, and Poz look good and everyone is singing their praises next year. The Bills do need to draft a DE pretty high this year to help with this. Edwards is in his 3rd year. I gave J.P three years, and defended him to everyone. To me Edwards has to show a good amount of growth this year. Or else we are looking for a QB next off season. And Parish is a great special team player, who can also line up maybe 10x a game on offense. If they used him right he could be a great situational weapon for Trent. Maybe gets 2-3 catches a game. He needs to be used in open space to show his speed and ellusiveness. Dockery was not worth what he was getting paid and never panned out. He did create a whole at LG but id rather fill it in the draft or FA with a quality guy then an overpaid underperforming guy.
  18. Peters entire approach has been laughable. Holding out with three years is just stupid. Sorry but if you cant see that then you are stuipid. Bills did have the upperhand last year and still do. If he holds out this year it would make a little more sense but not much. Seeing as though he still has 2 years left. His best bet was to show up last year and play hard and work out a deal during the season. If not then try harder tactics this year. He just skipped straight to playing hard ball when he really had zero leverage but to hold back his services. But in the end he really gets hurt because he makes no money. I wish he could be signed but at this point i am so scarred of his attitude and capability to think clearly on business matters i dont know if the bills wouldn't be better off shoping him and getting the best offer they could for him. Trade Peters and your first to Philly for their 1a and then 1b picks. It wouldn't cost more then you signing Peters and signing the 11 pick. Basically would be a wash. With one of your 1st rounders pick up a LT and with the second sign you DE or DT. And save the we have a great LT now. Because these numerous posts have shown that is debateable. And th elast few years plenty of good LT have come in the later first to early second. The Colts have a second round pick protecting Bradys blindside in Tony Ugoh.
  19. Well the Bills cant find a better qb then Brady. He is better then probably 30 other qbs. Save maybe Peyton. And you could possibly argue Rothlesburger. Because of his two rings. The oline could not be far off N.Es , but so much of that depends on Peters. Also i think the Bills will sign a vet gaurd for a year maybe two. The Dline is an area that must be addressed. No one here would argue that. I think the Bills should go Dline in the first, with Rajii if he is there. Then go DE in second. Then OLine the next two picks. Interior guys that could develope and get playing time this year. And be your future starters. So much really depends on the next month what happens. Can Peters be resigned? Do Bills sign FA TE or LB. Honestly you can't chase another team. You have to make your own as good as you can. if you constantly worry about what the Pats are doing you are taking your eye off what you should be doing. We started to see some chinks in their armor last year. They have some older guys on that team. The lose of Cords plus some key players through FA or trades or injury can affect everything. The Bills are trying to win, and this FA period is now about waiting and letting prices drop on some solid guys.
  20. in the strengths it mentioned H Back. Bills will definetly draft him. They love TE that aren't realy tight ends but more like H backs. Just being a pessimist. Sorry
  21. Hey i am the biggest proponent that Oline is the area you have to settle first. However Peters doesn't give me a very settling feeling. And everyone that says just pay him is naive inmy opinion. You honestly think he will just play out this new contract and not be a malcontent in two or three years down the line? At that point maybe LTs are getting 13 million a year from a team like the Redskins or Oakland. If he had gone about this the right way. Shown up last year on time in shape and ready to play. I think he would have already gotten a new deal. The Bills have shown they reward hard working 'team' guys. Sometimes we dont like it, ie Kelsay, Schobel. But they will rework a deal.
  22. Its only a matter of time before Jake Long starts becoming the perenial pro bowl Left Tackle pick. And i say that not because i like him or anything but because the kid is hyped up a lot and so is that team. Voting on the o line for pro bowl is tricky. Once you get voted in you are almost a lock for a few times. Look at Rueben Brown. How many of us said how is he still getting to go to Hawaii? He was a good player that got the name and lived off it for years. A high pick who produced at a decent level. Jake Long has that written all over him. Then we will be stuck with a guy that isn't makeing pro bowls anymore but still leading the league in sacks given up. Trade him for picks and move in. Philly sounds like the best landing spot for him. Get there highest first and a third for him. Take a great left tackle with you eleventh pick. DE with you next pick in the first, then get 3 more players that could be starts this year in the next two rounds. Or at very least 2nd stringers who get lots of playing time. Everyone here says we have whole to fill, Peters lets you address them. The guy is a malcontent. And foolish. Sitting out with three years left on your contract is idiotic.
  23. 10 yd times is what every GM looks at for making a pic on interior Dlineman and Olineman. That plus bench production and technique from film. 10 yd time is so much more important to them then 40 yd times. Burst off the ball is what matters most. If a DE isn't quickl in his 10 yd time you dont want him as a high pick. You DE isn't the guy you want makeing a tackle 25 yds down the field. Instead a guy that can burst off the ball and blow by a O tackle is coveted .
  24. Fingon. 40 yd times dont mean squat for interior lineman. How many interior guys run 40yds. So the fact that you bring up Warren Sapps 40 time confuses me. The initial burst off the ball is what is important for interior guys. And from all the video i have seen on Raji show he is explosive. Any GM will tell you that the 10 yd dash drill is more important for interior guys. And their strength, ie 225 benchpress. Sorry but 40 yd times are not relevant for Oline man and Dlineman. Maybe DE but thats it. If you did not pick a guy because he had a slow 40yd time, but a good 10 yd time and strength, then you are just silly.
