  1. He has very good points, one which many of us on here have been saying all off season. Now the bills just need the 11th pick to pan out.
  2. My thought was you then leave yourself the option of being able to go Oline with two picks and D front seven with 2 picks. Your fourths go to Denver. And come back rest of draft and take best guy available. Best case would be trade one of the fourths and a fith. I would rather trade two fourths though for a guy that has proven he can play, albeit he has been hurt a little too often. But the injuries is the reason you get him for the fourths and not a second rounder.
  3. umm the Bills had the biggest olin ein the league last year. How did that work out for us?
  4. Just a question, but now that you have two fourth rounders, would you trade them for Scheffler? Or one of your extra fourths and your fith?
  5. I dont know about the does not want to be here. He wants to be anywhere they will show him the money. And good for him, we all would. He was good to average, and probably a lot of that had to do with him sitting out last year the entire preseason. Like i said better this then to see a repeat.
  6. Good point. If this was a business (which it is really) then i would say the Bills got a very good return on their investment. And as people are saying the Bills were 7-9 the last two years with Peters at LT. The Bills watched how the line played good last year w/o Peters in there. The Bills also are pretty high on Bell. Not saying he is your starting LT next year, but he will be put on the spot to perform at RT or LG. The Bills will now definetly take two lineman with there first four picks. Then D front seven with the other two. Heck this also gives the Bills time to wheel and deal the 11th to any of those teams that want a qb, if Sanchez or Stafford are still there for some reason.
  7. With Peters the bills went 7-9 the last two seasons. Sorry but if you know line play and watched him last year, he was good but not great. I wish the Bills could have signed him to a fair deal, but they could not agree. Better this way then watching a repeat of last season.
  8. Tim any idea what the conditional pick next year hinges on? I wanted a first and a third this year too. But if next years pick turns out to be a third rounder, then would not be a bad deal.
  9. I hear ya about the age fact. You could do a 4 year 10 million dollar deal with 6 gauranteed. pay him 3 and 3 then drop down to 2.5 and 1.5. That way if he looses his talent you can cut him the last two years.
  10. They are going to lock Freddie up. His agent should be a little more patient. i think this is the wrong way to go about things. Agents like this guy are morons. First thing you should do in negotiations, is know who you are negotiating with. Bills pay guys they need and do a good job(please dont turn this into a you know who thread). The Bills would have locked him up to a 4 yr 10 mil a season deal. All this does is draw lines in the sand. Stupid!! Haveing said all that i would be surprised if before workouts start he doesn't have a deal. And everyone will be kissy kissy.
  11. not trying to be negative, but from what you just described about Coffman, he sounds a heck of a lot like Fine. Except Fine is a half way decent blocker. Also i am with maddox, Mathews sounds like he is exactly what the Bills need in a OLB. Can play pass coverage and rush the qb. I personally would go d in the first then Oline in the second and fourth. And then go back to d front seven in the third. Depending on whatever you did not take in the first.
  12. Guys we are way over thinking this. I have read so much about schemes on here lately. And yes it does matter sometimes. But a kid comming out of college, that is athletic, intelligent, and a good football player wont have trouble in any scheme. For every rule there are exceptions.
  13. I am with you. You have to figure the Peters situation out before the draft. This team has tipped its hand that it is putting a lot of effort into trying to win this season. The T.O signing being the biggest signal. If the Peters deal isn't completed then you are looking at a 'blind' draft. The Bills already have a whole to fill at LG and then also the unknown at LT isn't very reassuring. Get him signed or traded by draft day. Or this thing turns into a real headache like last year.
  14. I am liking Matthews more and more. Between what he does well. And what the Bills need, i think he might be the Bills guy at 11. I know it is a little high for him. Perfect scenario would be tradeing back and getting him in mid teens somewhere. But between him and Poz, i believe you would have a very good LB nucleus for sometime. Bills have to get an OLB, that can cover and also apply some pressure. Two things Matthews does well. The wonderlic does show he has some intelligence. Which translates into being able to pick up the defensive playbook. Everyone else there was like go figure. The last thing i would want is a Wr with a low wonderlic. Talk about a transition. Being not too bright and trying to learn the playbook and how to read defenses on the fly. That is a deadly combo.
  15. This offseason is the favorite time of year for 31 teams. The fans sit around and think this is our year. We only need one or two guys and we can be the next SB winner. In Buffalo we have done this for way to long. I dont agree with you about the Oline and Dline. Last year we felt like the Oline was going to be awesome. Then due to many causes it just did not happen. The Dline was suppose to be great with Stroud comming in. Stroud did ok but Schobels injury killed the unit. I personally think the Bills have some guys in the system, and will fix some of the areas in the draft. Every year i looked at the schedule and tried to say ok thats a win thats a lose and thats a 50/50. But recently i gave up on that. Reason being is because the NFL changes so quickly. I do agree the Bills need a freakin GM. A guy that evaluates talent and works with a bean counter on how to sign him. But ultimately he(the Gm) has the final say. Do not loose faith, the Bills are going to win again, the will make the playoffs. And dont you want to be a guy that can say i stuck by you through thick and thin? Instead of some guy that jumped off the wagon. If you love the Bills you love them. They are like that cousin/friend that always hits you up for money, but is so loveable you cant say no. You give into him/them, but are complaining the whole time. We all here have said many times 'i hate this team' but we are right back the next week or season. Why? Because we cant help ourselves. My wife one time said i wish you could like another team. I hate how those guys get you upset. I told her it just doesn't work that way. Not for real fans and people with character. You love your team even when you hate them.
  16. At this point i would sit pat. Wait till after the draft at the earliest. Rhodes has been sitting there for a while and no ones touched him. Wait till draft day. See what transpires. Personally i would not sign a RB till later in the summer. Could get a good Vet for cheap at that point. And learning a teams system is not difficult for a RB.
  17. you just have no idea today what they are going to do. Hell if Brady doesn't come back or does but gets hurt again, who is slinging the rock then? What if Miami goes back to being a bad team? The wheels come off and Penningtons horrible arm rears its ugly head. And the Jets dont have a qb at all. If the bills can stay somewhat healthy, then this could be there year. The Bills sure are do if nothing else.
  18. Sounds like a last second ploy from K.C. to see if they can get anything better then Atls second rounder. The deal is probably already in place. It makes more sense for K.C to trade him out of confrence. If the Bills want him they would prob have to give up a second and maybe a later pick. Sounds like he is already wearing black and red.
  19. Losman never learned how to read an NFL defense. Any guess what everyone in the NFL knows that too. Thats why he has no job now. And will probably stay unemployed till the injury bug hits a team bad, and he is a desperation move. This also answers some questions about whether it was coaching or him.
  20. As a Bills fan number 1 and a Falcons fan 2, i love this for the Falcons. They need a vetran presence in the locker room. They just let Brooking and Malloy walk (rightfully so), and last year cut Crumpler and Dunn. Gonzo can definetly still play, and would be exactly what the Falcons were missing last year on offense. At 33 he probably has atleast another 2-3 years left. I also like th emove for the bills because it takes one more team off the board for him. Do you guys really think the Pats go for him? They never use the TE that much, and they do have Watson still right? I think NE goes heavy D in the draft. They need help all over the place in the Defensive backfield, also another LB.
  21. Personally i dont believe Donte is a bust. Not yet atleast. And with news he is going to switch to FS this year, i hope it helps his level of play. He and the rest of the secondary could use a pass rush. Also the other Safety taken in the first round of that class Micheal Huff is in danger of being cut by Oakland. So we needed a safety and i think we give him this year to show what he has. Also if the Bills get a better pass rush, then the entire defensive backfield looks better.
  22. If you cant draw the conclusion to what the Bills philosophy is for signing players to contract extensions, then you might be as misguided as Peters. The Bills have proven they will pay talented players that they need and have a good attitude. I remember last year after being traded Stroud joked about getting a contract extension. He also said the Bills wanted to see him play first. After playing one year, and being a good team guy he got a nice contract extension. Evans last year also made it known that he wanted to get a deal done before the end of the year. He showed up to everything and went out and played hard. He got a new contract. He and Stroud both have the talent and attitude the Bills want on the team. Peters has made it clear he wants a new deal. Now he has the talent, but he does not have the positive attitude. He went about his business the total other way. And here we sit today. Peters has no deal. He and the Bills are in a pissing contest now. And to be quit honest, the Bills have him by the you know what. I would personally send a video of the first few games last year when he did not play. And the second Pats game when he did not play (and Jackson rushed for 120+ yds). Tell Parker and Peters we did ok with out you. You are under contract we own the rights for you to play in the NFL for two years. You can sit at home and collect dust, and people will slowly forget about you. Point out the fact that Gandy just Started at LT for Arizona, who was in the Super Bowl. Point out that there are ways to help a LT with TE and RBs. The season and the game will go on with out Peters. Or you can come in and sign a salary of 9 million a year. With bonuses that could pay you up to 11 million a year. Those bonuses will be based on attendance to all mandatory workouts, games played, and both team and personal goals...ie playoffs and/or probowls. This should keep everyone happy. Peters would control his own paycheck, by showing up and playing at a high level. And the bills would know they are not going to have to pay a guy a big salary then watch him turn into a non performer. This would be my approach if i could not trade him for a first and a third, like being reported.
  23. What Roscoe is worth to the Bills and what he can fetch in draft picks doesn't equal up. Parish is a very good returner. If he is not there then you have to put McKelvin back there more. This could hurt his growth as a corner, not to mention expose him to injuries and fatigue. Keep him and atleast the Sts should perform well again for another year. Also if Reed gets hurt he can be used in the slot. Hardy wont be ready, Johnson showed promise, but needs to prove he can do it more often. I would keep Parish atleast for one more season. Not a bad insurance policy and a good ST.
  24. I think you are right about most positions. But running back is a pretty easy position to learn a new teams terms. Look at how many rookies are able to come in and have solid seasons, compared to other positions. And thats going form college to pro. A vetran back would be able to pick everything up and be ready to go in a few weeks. Plus would not cost the team as much. A Dunn is going to cost some money and will probably want a two or three year deal.
  25. If i were the Bills i would not make a move at all. Instead wait till training camp cuts and pick up best rb that gets cut. Will get him for the right price and will be ready to play. Yes he will have a shorter time learning the plays. But a Vet will be able to make an easy transition.
