haha. most the people who joined after 2006 actually back up there statements with facts. And are not so negative as you older guys.lol -
If you looked at Defensive and offensive stats as a whole, then the O needs a lot more work. However the one stat that is glaring on D was sacks, or lack there of. I am an old Olineman myself and feel you really do win or loose a game with in the trenches. Bills need a pass rusher and an interior Olineman. TE is nice but should not be taken unless you can get quality guys at those other two areas. I believe the Bills get the pass rusher first. Then if( and its a big if) Pettigrew is there at 28, they take him. In the second could get one of if not the best interior lineman. Would shore up the Oline in two areas. Pettigrew is a tremendous blocker. Would be able to help who ever the Bills have playing at tackle. I think the Bills are going to see what Bell has this year. The pass rusher helps the entire defense play better. Interior Dlinemen are not as easily double teamed. And the DBs wont have to cover men as long.

This years tackle class is mediocre. I am hope the bills dont fall for it too. And take one in the first three rounds. The halfway decent ones will be gone by pick 11. After that might aswell see what you got in Bell this year. And then come back and take one next year if Bell doesn't have it. -
good stuff. will make me feel a little better if he is the Bills pick.

If Crabtree falls, we're taking him at #11...

Seriously? I think Detroit invents new ways to loose games every year. Last year they had a QB that ran 3 yds out of the back of the endzone, trying to throw a pass. If you want to watch that crap by all mean go for it. or hey the new XFL is comming out, or whatever it called. Maybe they will have a moat on the goal line, filled with crocs, now that would be fun. -

This is what Detroit did for years. How did that work out for them Skooby? -
Your guess is as good as anyones elses about Maybin. Why did he have one good year? What was his motivation this year? Or did it all come together for him? Who knows. He is a 50/50. Could be a bust or could be a very solid pass rusher for years.

Anyone else get the feeling that this draft class as a whole is very mediocre. I mean if you can have such huge discrepancies all over the place, it has to say something. I know everyone and their brother has a mock draft now, because of the internet, but it just seems this year is weak. There is one guy at each position that seams to pick the A talent. Then there is a whole lot of C talent. Heck i would even arguee that the A talent has questions. I watched Stafford play for 2 and a half seasons at UGA. He is by no means a lock. Not to mention going to Detroit. They have no Oline, and refuse to upgrade it. Another QB that could have developed, goes to a crappy team and plays behind a crappy line. I wish him luck but sounds like a bad situation. The Bills 4 areas of need seems very confusing to who is the best. TE, Pettigrew sounds like a monster blocker, with addequate recieving skills, and average speed for TE. The rest of the guys sound like oversized WRs for the most part, who dont know how to block yet. LB, Curry has the size and head to be a great LB, but is concern over his lack of ability to rush the passer. Also struggled some in pass coverage. The rest of the LBs all seem to have one thing not the other. Personally, i think LBs are like RBs on defense, they can only reach maximum potential if they play behind a solid Dline. So unless you have a solid Dline, dont take a LB high. Oline, many scouting write ups are saying this draft class is very average for LT talent, you will see a lot go in the first 20 picks. But this is more because the league has put a premium on a LT. Every guy has questions. Either small arms, low wonderlic(intelligence), work ethic...etc. Interior line seems to be this drafts strength. Three very good centers( Unger, Mack, Caldwell) and then some nice gaurds Robinson and Levitre. DE, This is the most mudded area. Who is the best? Everyone has their own oppinions. And evceryone can tell me why their guy is good and the other guy is bad. Maybin one year hit. Ayers 3 sacks his senior year at Tenn. Orkapo got dominated in some games. Everette Brown is not big enough to play with his hand down. I mean i have no clue anymore. I could rant on and on. But too me this year sounds more and more like these teams are buying a lottery ticket and hoping for the best, then makeing a lock down solid investment. At the end of the day today, no matter who the Bills take, i will be cautiously optimistic. As long as the Bills dont take a wr or cb in the first two round

Exactly. This is a craptabulous story all the way around. Was it like this last year the night before the draft? I mean all these crazy rumors? -
Tony Gonzalez traded to Atlanta

Leonidas, I usually agree with you. But a second round pick in next years draft isn't overpaying for him i dont think. Reasons being, the Falcons were desperatly needing a TE. Its about the only thing the Falcons were missing on the offensive side of the ball. This will allow them to go defense with their first three picks. They need a guy at every level. Grady Jackson(DT) Coleman (DT) Brooking (LB) Boley (LB) and Milloy (S) are all gone. Now Brooking, Milloy, Jackson, and Coleman needed to go. However that was a lot of Vetran leadership gone, not to mention Crumpler and Dunn from last year. Gonzo has a few good years left, and he can be a very solid locker room guy. Dimitrof pulled a good one here. -

Love the Ricky Jean-Francois pick in round four as well. If he gets his head on, then you would have potentially two Dlineman that stand to be very good. Ricky was the defensive MVP of the Natl Championship Game a couple years ago. He can be a game changer, if he gets his head on straight and plays motivated. Would love him working next to Stroud, and haveing Stroud mentor him. Like the first four rounds as well. We can hope it turns out this way. -
I really think Jax trades out. And Sanchez goes to who ever. if not and they take one of the DEs. The Bills phones will be ringing hard after San Fran takes a defender. Drop back and load up on a couple more picks.

Losman receiving interest..... from TWO teams!
atlbillsfan1975 replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
God i hope he goes to Carolina. And Jake picks up where he left off in the playoffs. J.P comes in. The Falcons are my second favorite team. I would love to see J.P behind center. Would laugh the whole time he ate the ball and got his head knocked off. -
No way the Chiefs give up Dorsey for less then a one. Henderson could be had for maybe a 4th and throw in Denney to walk the paper work to them.

So was that a bigger waste of your time or mine? -
you are exactly right. And it is the reason i hope the Bills dont go after a TE. Evans and Owens will command a lot of attention, leaving Reed matched up with a safety or nickel back. And thus leave Fine to be covered by a LB. I think Reed is actually Edwards favorite reciever. If you look at how Trents play suffered last year, Reed was hurt a lot of those games in the middle of the season. Also going forward hopefully Johnson or Hardy will develope into the outside guy, that Owens is this year. Meaning you dont really need a dominant TE. Yes it is nice, but not when you got other areas of need. Bills need to focus on D front seven and interior Oline in this draft.
-
overused? really? more like injury prone. Terrell Davis was a guy that might have been a great back, but once again injury prone. Emmitt Smiths two greatest feats were playing behind the Cowboy line for all those years, and staying mostly healthy for his career.
-
I think the Bills should not draft a tackle in the first round either. Union, you hit the nail on the head. The Bills have guys already who can fill in these spots. For this next year rotate Walker and Chambers at LT. Draft best interior lineman with your 28th pick. Or second best one with your 42 pick. Put Bell on the Peters plan. In 2010 he is your starting LT( sign him to a 5 year deal halfway thru the season, once you see he can play and before he gets voted to the probowl).

Gonzo - Worth our 3rd Round Pick?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he voided a trade last year that would have sent him to Buffalo. Not sure if it could get done even if Buffalo gave K.C a second .
