I am with you. Evans is a nice player, but a few days ago there was a projected opening day line up. The main area being discussed was how many wrs to keep. And who goes. I think Buffalo saw that Evans main specialty was as a speedster. That is not the starting qbs main specialty. And Evans was only going to be under contract for two more years. Not saying i am happy about only getting a fourth for him. But i bet the younger guys in the locker room appreciate the faith they are being given. It never seemed to me that Fitz and Evans were a great couple. So maybe the Evans trade helps take pressure off Fitz to force him the ball? Maybe a glass is half full approach, but dont think the locker room is going to sulk over Evans going, just like they didn't when Whitner left.

Do the cards have any Otackles laying around? Seriously though. If the Bills could get a third and a player of need for this year in the deal (a capable Olineman for depth) comes to mind. Then i say yes, make the deal. I like Evans, but to me he is a one trick pony for the most part, a burner. And since Fitz isn't really great at throwing the long ball, then why not try to improve the team? WR seems like the one position the Bills have some good young talented guys. And with Evans contract being very team friendly, this really could happen. He is set to only make a littl eover $3 mil. And please save the 'yeah he is a good player so lets trade him'. I am looking at it more from the stand point of getting something of value for a guy the Bills could replace with younger guys.

The great thing about the NFL is you usually have a 'fighting chance' every week. The level of talent from the best to worse on each team is not that far off. Think about it, In the NFL it comes down to coaching. Having the right player on the field in the right position to make the play. -If the oline comes together and stays healthy -If Fitz can cut down on the 'who was he throwing that too?' moments. -If front 7 on D can apply preasure and cover TE and RBs. Then yes, maybe for once in years we as fans are watching meaningful football in late December.

Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In reading the recent article about him, it seems like he still doesn't realize he is the problem. he acts like the coaches are keeping him down. I talked to some guys i know that work for the team two years ago whil ethey were in town for the Atlanta Game. They told me that maybin was basically the least intelligent guy on the team. For what it is worth. -
Kelsay better than I thought?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The game where he showed very poorly was the green bay game. In this game the TE was killing him. He can not cover an athletic TE. I have never really bashed him or praised him. I think the guy tries really hard. But i think the Bills asking him to cover a TE will cause huge match up problems for the D. If he is only making 2mil this year then no reason why he can't be a situational guy. My question is what is he best suited at, rushing qb or run Defense? Seriously asking, not being a smart ass. -
Braylon Edwards possibly in trouble again
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesnt really sound like he did anything. i mean urging his cousins to fight? Come on. Edwards Doesnt sound like a good guy, but no where in the story does it say he physically got involved. -
Good point. I dont think you need to be a Doc to know thats true. I am sure they are just being very careful with him.

There's an interesting word coming out of Bills camp
atlbillsfan1975 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha! I was gonna put that in my post actually. Like on 3 down and 8 and watching the D end come clean through to the backside of JP and you just know its gonna be a fumble? -

I am with you man. I think this team has the potential to be very effective. But it is predicated on a few different variables. -Can Fitz be more consistent, and cut down on the untimely poor decisions? -Can the Oline stay healthy and come together as a unit? If those two things happen i do believe we as fans will finally get a pro offense that will keep us on the edge of our seats. -
Stroud and Seymour started at UGA in the middle of the line in the late 90's. How UGA didnt win an SEC title with the talent they had is silly. Oh they also had Champ Bailey in the backfield. Think about that for a second.

Gaither just failed a physical in Oakland i believe. Ryan Harris sounds more like a good fit. I think you will see Buffalo make a play for him or another OT in the next few days. They didnt want to seem desperate after the Clabo signing fell thru. And picking up the phone the next day would have only caused someones agent to try and use the Clabo deal as a negotiation point. I am not sure the Bills are going to go after a TE. I think we as fans want one, but it just doesnt seem like Gailey/Nix but as much emphasis on that position. LB is another area where i would be surprised to see a big turnover. Kelsay isn't getting cut this year. Gailey said in his interview about Barnett they got a threedown backer. I like your thoughts, but that much turn over combined with a condensed preseason, isnt optimal. IMHO

Got to wish Trent good luck. Ever since that hit in the Zona game he hasnt been the same player. He was a classy guy, took the demotion last year with as much dignity as a man could.
-
True, I was thinking that timing and him being at practice and all this news hitting, might be a good sign for Bills and his agent to try and keep him in town for good.
-
The Tatupu news might help the Bills actually, right? i mean if you are Barnetts agent you see another LB about to hit free agency, compounded with the fact Detroit signed someone else? Correct me if i am wrong. The Bills should offer him a solid base deal, with incentives. Could get to $5-6 mil if he plays whole year and hits 100 tackles.

Good call. I think he gives the Bills a lot of flexibilty. God forbid you loose Fitz and Tyler, you still have a capable option at QB for a game.

[closed]Just lost another one!

Does anyone see a pattern here? Clabo stays in Atlanta despite more money from the Bills, we think. Burnett goes to Miami, after Buffalo makes a pitch for him. Sorry guys, but the pattern of being a losing franchise compounded with the stigma of Buffalo as a city is killing this team. I mean it sounds like the FO is actually trying to sign guys, but can't. maybe Ralph knew this all along and didn't want to embarass the franchise and city? Food for thought. -
Bills interested in OT Tyson Clabo
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think at this point the Bills will sit back. the last thing you do is start calling all th eother tackles agents. This second tier of tackles will only try to run the price up, because the Bills woul dlook desperate. By mid week next week we will know if indeed the Bills went after another tackle or not, but i dont expect a signing today or over the weekend. -

He actually just married last year. he and his wife immediately adopted two children. -
Brad Smith...Update...signs with Buffalo
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Mike In Illinois's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, This would address two big needs. OL will be solid for the next 3-4 years. And the D should be improved from last years squad when you add Burnett and Dareus. Add in Shepperd from the draft. And second year guys improving. The front 7 on D and the Oline is pretty set. This team would be starting to come together. -
Bills interested in OT Tyson Clabo
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clabo is older, but has started for the past three season every game. The Falcons Oline has been very good. Clabo to me is the better choice due to Colons injury status. This and Burnett would be huge, on the heals of keeping Florence. Only thing better would be a legit TE signing. -
Good job. thank you for that. And to Simon, you just went down a huge notch.
-
RT is an issue. The Bills are going to be forced to spend the money, either on purchasing quality talent or redistributing the money among players already on the team(due to new CBA). So why not go and sign a Clabo? I mean seriously, he is proven over a player like Pears. This would allow Pears to develope more, and also offer quality depth, if Gailey and Nix think he is solid. I am sorry, but the oline is a solid RT away from being good. Bell is the big question once you solidify RT with Clabo. But wouldn't it be nice to have only one tackle position you are hoping steps up instead of both?
-
Clabo is also just under 30 years old(turns 30 in Oct), which means he has plenty of gas left in the tank. You would be getting a guy in more or less his prime. Olineman can be very productive into their mid 30's. he has started every game over the past 3 seasons for the falcons. So no real injury concerns. To me it makes to much sense. which means it wont happen! ha
-
He is a very solid RT. The Falcons have had a good running game and offense as a whole for the past couple years. The reason the Falcons are probably not going to resign him is a numbers game. They have 3 starters all up for free agency. They Like Blaylock at gaurd and Dahl i think and feel the price will be better for those two then Clabo. If the Bills can sing him then they should do so. It sounds like they are going to have to spend some money anyways. And it would be nice to solidfy the OLine with a proven comodity over a developing player.
-
They talked about it on ESPN yesterday. Which means it will never happen. It would be a perfect fit. He is a very good RT and the Bills are in desperate need of one. I am afraid though that with the OT pick out of Clemson (Harriston) the Bills wont spend big money on Clabo. Clabo will be 30 years old this October. has been relatively healthy. The Falcons like him, But think it will be a numbers issue. Vince Young? Really? Why? Because he looked good at Texas? And dont give me his winning precent in the NFL. That because Tennesse always has had a great D.
