It is a pass happy league. Rules for WR are much tougher on DB's than during Kelly's day. Kelly would put up Brady numbers or better today running the K-Gun. Think about the receivers, line and running backs Kelly had!!! Lofton, Reed, Bebe, Metz, Thomas, and Davis. Behind a massive but athletic line. Those guys would score like the Pats of 2007!!! Fitz is inconsistent, which is why he belongs backing-up a starter.

So with all this talk about how good Mario is and how good the D has been over the past month, do they bring Wanny back? Give Wanny two competent LB's, and is the D on to something? Yes Mario has been a force since the bye. Sack stats are great but he has been in the backfield consistently. He has put pressure on the qb and changed plays many times. This D is starting to look like what we thought we would watch from the start.

Personally i think Chan was brilliant and should use jackson and CJ the same the next 4 games. Freddie gets most touches in the first half. Give CJ some touches in the first half but use CJ more in the second half. I like this approach for the simple fact it plays to both players strengths. Freddie is a better pounder and between the tackle guy. The Defense will get worn down and use to that style. Bring CJ in with fresh legs and let him break a big one like he did yesterday. Maybe i am imagining it, but it seemed like that was the approach Chan took yesterday?

Russell Wilson will never be elite
atlbillsfan1975 replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its way to early i know but he has all the tools. He also has the intangibles. If he was 6'3 he would have been a top 15 pick. Kudos to Carroll and Seattle for getting a player who looks to be a solid player at the most important position in all of sports. I want to see what he does in year 2 and 3 before i crown him the next Drew Brees. -
Thank you for that!! He was drafted in the fourth round starting his first game after being injured in his rookie year. Those numbers are promising if he can be coached up. The one penalty, not sure if it was the PI or illegal use of hands, can be corrected easily. As he learns the game and positioning of his body he should get much better. We have to also remember he is adjusting to the speed of the NFL. And how these caliber of players are fast from the first play to the last play. I was encouraged by what i saw today.

Batch is the same as Fitz- a back up. Nice guy, tough player, can make all the throws, but can not do it consistently. That is the definition of a back up. Fitz will be the highest payed back-up next year for someone, just not Buffalo i hope.

The Bills need as much confidence a spossible heading into next year. For all you lose out and get a better draft pick, sorry but picks are a crap shoot. Bills will not be picking first no matter what. Where the Bills are now drafting will not be that much worse then if they finished 9-7. By that i mean, the quality of player and chances of success or failure are not that much different from picking say 12 to picking 20. So for now every Bills fan should be hoping for a win out scenario and hope the chips fall the Bills way. Get into the playoffs and show the players it can be done. Get the monkey off your back. It would be a huge step in the right direction. Worry about QB and D cord after the season. Just Win now!!

This is exaclty correct. Many of the 'talking heads' thought Dorsey was the can't miss guy. Ryan had some concerns, but Dimitroff thought otherwise. Dimitroff also hired Dave Caldwell from Indy and made him head of his college scouting. I have had the opportunity to meet Dave and talk with him, a very very good guy. He is a Buffalo boy and honestly I wish he would be our next GM for the Bills. I have had the opportunity to ask Dave about the Buffalo picks right after the draft over the past few years- he has always been spot on. Dave has experience under Polian in Indy and now Dimitroff in Atlanta. Both places where the GM went in and turned things around. No doubt picking the right HC and QB played a big part!

Thanks guys. I get tired of watching teams like Atlanta, Indy, New Orleans, Tampa Bay... figure it out.

Living in Atlanta i have adopted the Falcons as a second team. And over the past 12 years more times in December i am focusing on Falcons games then Bills games. I think back to 2007. The Falcons had just hired Bobby Petrino as HC, Rich McKay was GM and Mike Vick was suppose to be the QB. In August of that year Vick was found guilty of Dog Fighting and suspended indefinetly. The Falcons had to use Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich at QB. Falcons Start the season 3-10. 24 hours after Vick is sentenced to almost two years Federal Prision and an emberassing lose to N.O on Monday night football, Petrino takes off. Petrino does not even address his team. The entire franchise is in shambles. Think about it. Things can not get too much worse then that. Now what they had and have is a strong determined Owner. Who after years of trying too hard and being involved to much decided to hire a good young talent evaluater from a proven franchise as his GM. Arthur Blank realized owning a football team is the same as owning Home Depot. You must find succesful people to fill positions and then get out of their way and let them succeed. Thomas Dimitroff then was given full reigns of personel decisions. He brought in Mike Smith a tough defensive cord from the Jags. Dimitroff then went and drafted the best qb available in 2008. He also signed Mike Turner from S.D who was backing up Tomlinson. In 2008 the Falcons went out and where 11-5 and a wild card. They went from 4-12 in 2007. The Falcons enetered the offseason with no coach, no qb, and the laughing stock of the league. Since the change at GM, HC, and QB the Falcons are 44-22. They have never had a losing season since the new regime was brought in. This is a stark contrast to the franchise of old. In 40+ years the franchise had never had back to back winning seasons. The Falcons only missed the playoffs in 2009 after finishing 9-7. Now the Falcons are not perfect, they still have to win a playoff game under Smith and Ryan. This could be their year. Ryan has suffered much of the same scrutiny Peyton Manning did until he won it all. Personally i think until the Bills do what the Falcons did, we are in the same boat year after year. If you want a drastic change from the norm you must make drastic changes. Like i said, i am and always will be a Bills fan. I grew up going into the locker room with my grandfather who worked for the team in the 70's and 80's. I had the privledge of meeting many of the players, coaches, and Mr Wilson. I wish like so many of you that the Bills could win just one Super Bowl. Like so many of you i would cry with joy and think about my grandfather and father who are no longer here. Just my two cents and worth less then that.

See now that is different from what people are saying here. To me that reads more like, Buddy wants Chan and Fitz to be here, but Ralph is maybe saying something else. At least he and Nix have had discussions about replacements for one or both of them. I also do find it strange that Nix said they were going to go after a QB in the offseason, and now is giving his support to Fitz. The next 5 games will decide everyones fate.Personally i think Fitz has already been decided. he is done. Buddy and Chan know it, but realize they have nothing else onthe team better. they still have a very slim chance of making the playoffs. Fitz gives them the best chance at winning all 5 games.

The one arguement you can make for not drafting Green is Detroit. They picked the number one wide receiver 2 or three times and it never paid off. I am not saying Green is not a franchise game changing WR, i am a UGA fan. What i am saying is until you fix you rlines of scrimage and QB, wr's are a luxury.

Pick one to leave - Fitz, Chan or Wanny

He may not have a choice when Gruden is named Head Coach. -
Pick one to leave - Fitz, Chan or Wanny
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know this is a game, but it is this type of thinking by the Bills over the past 13 years as to why we are where we are!!! -
Since Nix has said this. basically, who cares? Nix not Gailey makes this type of decision, and Fitz knows this. Fitz is an intelligent man. He knows he is at best going to be competing next year, again, for a starting spot with the Bills. At worst Fitz is gone trying to start over, again somewhere else.

I got agree with some of the other posters...coaching is screwing this team up. They would screw up green and dalton. Chan would have green runing underneath routes and getting his head knocked off!! Marcell looked like a man last year, this year average. Now i will say Dalton over Aaron is a yes!!! Chan is an idiot. Sorry but you could give him the best players and he would find a way to screw it up. Offensive guru mind???? WTF are you watching??? He managed one touchdown the last 8 quarters!!!!! that is not a guru!!! that is an inept in over his head old fart!!!

On the plus side... [Mario Williams]
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well i would this agree this season is representative of Mario's play. Mario had stretches in Houston where he went missing. Andre ware even came out and said such the week of the Texans game. He would get called out by fans and media and he would answer the critics. So i think this year is kind of true to what Mario is, a streaky player. Look -fact is the Bills needed to win that game in Indy, and Mario showed up and played his tail off. IF the Bills had won, his effort would be a lot sweeter today. Mario showed up against Miami too. The loss in Indy falls squarely on Chan. The offense couldnt put up 21 points against an average Indy D. -
Jason Babin; Buddy puts in a claim!

Falcons may make a run at him. They have Abraham and that is really it. -
On the plus side... [Mario Williams]
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
mario did have a great day. Set the edge- to bad the Bills had no one in the middle giving up multiple first downs to Luck running the ball! I can see both sides to the arguement for Mario right now. I hope the guy since the surgery is who we get for the next 5 seasons. And like other posters have pointed out add a LB or two and this D is looks good.- Oh yeah, fire Wanny too! -
Our offensive line is bad, not a strength
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The offensive line is just like every other group or player on this team- inconsitent. That is a product of poor coaching. I mean if you can look good one week and poor a next what does that say? Probably that the coaches prepaired you well one week and bad the next. Now the Bills did have some bad plays- Hairston for one looked really bad on that one sack. -
Watching the game yesterday and seeing the cameras pan to Wanny or Chan was like watching two old guy reading the sunday paper and babysitting the grandkids playing in the back yard!

Fitz Killed the Playoff Goose
atlbillsfan1975 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. Chan is about as uninspirring as you can get. I am not saying i want a head coach with pom pom's on, but jeez show some signs of life. He is and always has been an OC. He needs a HC like Cowher to fire up the team and get them believing. Chan is an x and o guy. Yesterdays play calling before the half sealed it for me. A HC would have given Chan one pass attempt on first down. When it went incomplete he would have said run it twice and make them use their time outs. We punt the ball back with less then 20seconds. Instead Chan throws it on first and second down. Both incomplete and then runs it. Indy gets the ball back with 53 seconds at almost mid-field. Indy still has a time out left. The Bills were lucky to only give up 3 points. Sorry Chan showed yesterday he is in over his head. Any fan that has been watching NE games long enough knew what to do thier. You think BB would have allowed the other team the same option Chan did? Nope!! -
Fitz Killed the Playoff Goose
atlbillsfan1975 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with people defending Fitz is this- yesterday the Bills played a team very much like themselves. The difference being QB. Luck is good and Fitz is not. Indy and Buffalo are very comprable on D and much of their O is similar to Buffalo's. I would even argue Buffalo has a better Oline and running backs. Sorry but the D gave up 13 points. And 3 of that was due to Gailey's horrible play calling just before the half -
Murray plays in a pro style offense. I have never doubted his physical ability. My problem has been his consistency and ability of playing big in the big game. To his defense against in his worst showing of the year against South Carolina he was dealing with news about his fathers cancer. IF, and it is a big IF, Murray plays good on Saturday against a good Bama D in the SEC championship then he is a first rounder. The Bills would be just silly not to take him. Stop with the QB's have to be 6'4 to be succesfull. Every QB gets passes batted. Even Luck had some yesterday and he is 6'4 i think. Second round and thrid round need to be devoted to LB and/or DB help. Every Bills fan should be watching the SEC championship game on Saturday, the Bills will likely have a player or two selected in April from the game.
