  1. I do not see A Williams to SS either. To me SS is a guy who can fill the hole, has ball skills, and can deliver a hit once he arrives. What in A Williams game makes people believe he can do any of those things well?
  2. Ogletree in round one Astro. The Bills need an elite 3 down LB given how the NFL is these days. Ogletree seems one of the few who can fit that this year. Dline and WR are deep this draft. I would not consider one of those positions untill the 3rd. Second round than becomes QB or CB. Yes the Bills need a QB, but taking one just to take one is silly. If their is a CB in round 2 still available that has starter potential, take him.
  3. This was my thought. $7.5 mil. The Bills do not have a ton of money tied up in the oline right now. Urbik has the biggest deal on the team right now he is signed through 2016- $2.7m, $2.9m, $3.2m, $3.6m(Cap Hit). Glenn has a very team friendly deal for another 3 years, his cap number is biggest in 2015 at $1.5m. Pears and Hairston are signed through 2014 with their combined salary in 2013- $3.5m and 2014 being $4.1m. Woods is set to make $3.3m this season. 2014 he is a FA. This will be a tricky one. If he holds up and has a pro bowl year this year he will command a nice salary. Injuries though will be the thing teams consider. To me lock up Levitre first. The Bills do not have another single 'big' salary on the oline. And between Woods or Levitre i am going with Levitre. Byrd will re-sign or get tagged. It does not make sense not too, unless Pettine think he can do the same or better with a smaller salaried FS. And great work by the OP!
  4. The Bills will bring back either Byrd or Levitre i believe, maybe both. Aaron Williams at FS is a nightmare. He can not cover and as shown little to no ability to be a run stoper as well. LB core is horrible. You saw first hand last year what a talented rookie looks like at LB in Bradham. Makes some plays but also is out of place often. You need atleast one proven Vet at LB. If you want to go young fine, but you need a Bart Scott to help them learn and get them in position. TJax or Fitz- who cares they both are average at best. Maybe Manuel can be the next R. Wilson? If not the Bills will fo rsure be looking at a top 5 pick with that line up.
  5. Sounds spot on. Metz said it, i wonder how many players think it?
  6. They are castoffs because the Jets GM kept thinking they where one player away. He spent too much on about 6 players. He also failed to recognize how bad his QB is. Much like the Bills and Fitz.
  7. Honestly man? How do you not know about a gun in your bag? I mean he did not accidentally put an 8 oz bottle of Pert in his shaving kit!!
  8. Would be nice in the fourth round. His height is 6'0. Could develope into a OLB.Be a nice ST from day one.. Looks to have good cover skill, and a nice burst. Would not be a liabilty on running plays either. he posses the speed to rush the QB and the strength to bring him down once there.
  9. He seemed to me to be the leader on that D. To me that singifies the heart. Maybe a different opinion on what 'heart' is. I know and recognize his play is not what it was. The Bills right now have zero LB's with any real experience. Sheppard is there but has been average at best.
  10. This is why Scott makes a ton of sense. He was the heart of the Jets D, knows the scheme like the back of his hand. He would be a coach on the field. He could help tremendously in the play calling and alignements for the players. He also knows the Pats, Phins, and Jets first hand from playing against them ever year. Is he what he once was? Nope. He will be 33 to start the year. a 3 year $10 mil deal with $5-6 gauranteed sounds fair. I would take him over resigning Merriman and also look at cutting Kelsay.
  11. Couldnt agree more with you. Tell me the last time an orginization kept the old GM around to 'mentor' or help with the 'transition'. It underminds Whaley if nothing else to some degree.
  12. If the Bills stay with the current QB's this team will be under .500 again. At best .500. To me after 13 years of no playoffs that is a poor record. The only good record is one that gets the Bills into the playoffs. Maybe Pettine can make this D look like the Jets D from 2009 and Fitz or T. Jackson can do just enough and the Bills get into the playoffs...that is a tall order and the Bills entire team has their work cut out for them.
  13. Promo- The D stepped up in the second half of the season many games, and Fitz/Chan could muster no O. The Bills barely ever played a full 60 mintues on both sides of the ball. The D i believe has the capability to be good, given the right scheme and a couple LBs. But until the Bills address the QB we are stuck at .500 or worse. Fitz is his own worst enemy, he can not handle success or expectations. He has proven that to me at least.
  14. OP brings up good points about Landry playing in the style D Pettine wants to run. Byrd has not yet and thus he may be great at it or may not. Byrd would probably do good at an attacking style D that forces QB's to make a forced decision. Ball Hawks flourish in systems like that. The Williams to safety thing sounds good due to his size, however when you think about it can he really play safety? He has shown little ball skills, and to me i do not see him as a fill the box run stuffer. When you think about guys who moved to safety from CB most of the time it was because they where losing a step or because their skills could be maximized in that role. What about Williams' skill set has shown he can play safety. There are plenty of 6'2 200+ lb guys on this board, none of us could play safety in the NFL, right?
  15. Does Fitz have any trade value? Does the NFL allow for trades where a team can pay some of a players salary like in baseball? Not sure if this is an option or not. Or have Fitz restructure his deal with the Bills to a more reasonable one and than trade him?
  16. This was my thought after the NC game. I think Teo will be a solid pro, not an all pro by any means and will have a hard time getting on the field his rookie season. He has so much to deal with also off the field due to all the other stuff. The fact that Gruden is having him on his show is another media hype thing. Lattimore on is to talk about the knee and such. I am sure both agents got their clients on the show.
  17. Fitz has to go plain and simple. No excuse to bring him back. You know what he is and will just be a distraction to whoever you bring in to be the starter. Fitz has had two plus seasons to show he is a starting QB, that is enough.
  18. He was a Pro's pro. Never heard a word out of him, T.M. just went out and played. Father time caught up with him and wore down his body. Thank you for all the years and plays! We can hope made an impression on some of the younger guys you played with on how to carry yourself on and off the field!
  19. You think? That is more than Grubbs or Nix got last year, right?
  20. John- I am not questioning his toughness or the fact he called guys out. Those are great attributes. But does his play equal his salary? Can the Bills use that money in better places? Do the Bills need to spend the type of money he will be making on a back up/role player? I do not think Kelsay stinks. Just to be clear on that.
  21. That is kind of my thought too. These agents and teams all know how to play the game. An agent knows before FA officially starts who and what they will pay for their clients services. Kind of like the deal that Haynesworth made with the Redskins at 1201 to start FA a few years back.
  22. Ok so if your Levitre what would you do? He has played on a losing team for 4 years. Played for 2 HC and has no reason to give the Bills a discount. So if say a teamthat has been in the play offs 3 out of the last 4 years came knocking and was able to offer more money, what would you do? I still think he stays. The moves the Bills are making signifies they are going to spend money. I would be amazed if Levitre is not back. Buddy and Whaley want a good line and have shown they will pay their guys to stay. Smart business move on Levitre to test the waters some. i am sure his agent has already put together a list of teams in need of interior line help that have money and also have playoff potential/experience lately.
  23. Keep Byrd and Levitre(if around 7mil a season). Go after Bowe and Cason. Cason would be a good add to our D i think. He is young and has shown to be solid but not great to this point(a big upgrade over ever other corner except Gilmore on our roster last year). Him and Gilmore would be a nice CB tandem for the next 4 years. Bowe provides the wr to help take pressure off Stevie. If The Bills pulled off these moves i think we would be helping both sides of the ball greatly.
  24. How do you get that from that? I mean all that said was he is cleared to play and gave his base salary. I am not saying he will be back with the Bills or will not but that blurb from rotoworld just stated some facts. facts which Kelsay and his agent probably supplied.
  25. Take his team mate Ogletree. Ogletree will turn out to be the better pro long term i think. He is the guy i want to see what he weighs and how fast he is at the combine. I really do not like th ecombine but for a guy that is a converted safety to lb, it will be interesting to see. If Ogletree comes in at 250 and has the same speed and agility he had, he is your pick. Can cover the Lb's and is every bit as good as any LB the Bills have had since Fletcher left.
