  1. Ryan does have great receivers no doubt. But if you watch Atl games (and not saying you do not) Ryan puts the ball so often where only hig guy can get it. The Falcons run game was pretty weak this season and Ryan took over games knowing they had to win through the air. It became a huge topic in Atl this year how awful the short yardage run game was. Eventually the best third and short option was Gonzalez 'posting up' and Ryan putting the ball just in the right spot. Gonzalez will come back i think. The Falcons need to address RB in FA or draft and need a couple guys on D,(DE, CB, and LB). They should be right back in the mix next season.
  2. Buddy- It was the biggest game of his life to that point and he was going against the best opponent he ever faced. Forget about how the Oline got to him and pushed him around, i will give you that his Dline did a poor job. Even when he was in position to make a tackle he missed more then he made. Those where NFL caliber running backs, no doubt. But so will every one he plays against next season. Te'o will be an average LB in the NFL or he could wash out in 3 years. You take those guys in the third- fifth round. Nothing about his game screams MLB for your team for the next 10 years.
  3. Thats what happens when you are in denial about the guy you think you have to be your starter. As far as Williams at safety, what in his game over the past 2 seasons lends him to be a good safety? Serious question. Can he play the run good? ball hawk? cover athletic TE's? Walk up and play 3-5 yards from the line of scrimmage? What?
  4. Jax might very well be in play for a QB. Caldwell knows QB's. IF he thinks one of the guys is worth the pick he will take him. He is a product of watching what a good QB can do from Indy to Atl. Caldwell also scouts QBs very well, so i will be interested to see what he does, it will show what he thinks about the QB class to me.
  5. You think? Reid loves Qb's. He got Mcnabb in his first draft, a selection the Eagles fans hated at first. Reid believes, as well he should, he can take a QB and make him great or good depending on wht he has to work with. Reid had way more to look at and know what he was getting in Smith. This is not good for the Bills because it means a bad team in the AFC just got better.
  6. Before Matt Ryan the Falcons NEVER had back to back winning seasons, let alonemaking the playoffs in consecutive years. They have completely changed the culture of the franchise. I live in Atlanta and watch most Falcons games one way or the other. The Falcons have built the team around Ryan for a good reason, the guy can win. He has 16 fourth quarter/OT come back wins and 23 game winning drives in his career SO FAR. The playoff win drought ended this year. They were 15 yds away from going to the Super Bowl against a team that many said they had no shot against. The problem with the Falcons is the D. Dimitrof is a disciple of Belichick. Find a great QB, give him weapons on O. They realize what the NFL is- a qb league. If you do not think Ryan is in the top 7-8 guys, tell me who you would take over him? And explain why. Ryan carried that team this year. M. Turner fell off big time from his 2010 performance and has been on a sharp decline. The Falcons run game is so bad they have to usually pass for it on third and short. Like the Pats do many times. With out Ryan on the Falcons they are a 4-6 win team.
  7. This is a good question. However Belichick has missed on many draft picks since Dimitrof and Pioli left. The second question might be because Belichick just got Tommy to take an extension till 2017. After that i would not be amazed if Belichick decides to hang it up himself. Why not get a pick out of Mallet who is just going to ride the pine till his contract is up. Also this is a very weak draft class, if ever anyone would give you a 2nd rounder for a back up it is now. It is a risk but so is taking a college qb in this draft. If Nix and his guys like Mallet from his day at Arkansas then they should do the deal. If not then pass. I think the concersn over Mallet are more about how good he looked in a Bobby Petrino Offense. Think Brohm...
  8. Farve got traded because he cared more about the Atlanta night life then the play book. That was a fact i bet even Farve would tell you. He did not take his rookie season seriously at all. As far as the entire trade for Mallet thing, BB is not dumb. He is watching third round guys come in and win playoff games in their rookie season(R. Wilson). Heck BB may even be saying to himself 'when Brady goes i go. So i might as well get as many guys i need to win now'.
  9. The interview with Mayock and the other NFL Network guy to me was more worrisome then his performance. I saw a guy making excuses at first. I also watched Mayock bait him into doing so, almost leading him. Now, Te'o caught himself at one point and said something along the lines of 'well that is football and you must be ready for anything'. I am sorry but the more i watch and see of Te'o the less i like. From his performance on down to his interviews. I think he is extremely intelligent, but i have big concerns about his character and his talent. I said concerns, i do not know Te'o but on paper and tape(from the NC game and combine) there is nothing supporting why he should be taken by the Bills in round one OR two. The NC game is important because it was the first time all year Te'o played against elite competition. Those Oline men and Rb's are the same guys he is going to be going against next year, only better. He has good hands, knows how to read offenses and can set up his D. Those to me are his positives.
  10. No way the Ravens take him!!! They like quick athletic lbs with a mean streak. What about Te'o says that??? Te'o will be around in the second and maybe even the third. No team is giving up their best pick for an average LB with a lot of drama around him,
  11. You got to think if all things are equal the Bills have the inside track? He gets to go play in the system he knows with the coaches he knows. Is there any info on if Scott and Pettine are on good terms?
  12. This is backwards is it not? I mean the Bills said Buddy was staying on through the draft and than would turn things over to Whaley, correct? Did i make that up or was that not what Brandon said? So you mean this was the plan with no contract worked out? Kind of strange?
  13. This Oline is good and will be much better as they play more together and mature. And if you think the Oline is not good you lose credability with your Fitz analysis. Also Fitz was responsible for turning the ball over 22 times last year. 16 INT and 6 fumbles. That is 1.375 T.O per game. When you factor in the average amount of possesions per game is 12, that is big! I am sorry but people who want to bang the Fitz drum need to ask themselves how they felt over the past 3 seasons watching Fitz throw a pick to lose a game?
  14. The Bills published a media packet filled with qoutes from guys like Sean Peyton, Drew Brees, Parcells, etc... If you think Brandon, a marketing guy, did not initiate those calls to get the interview you are naive. All i was saying is enough already. Lets see the guy coach and lets see if this team plays hard for him. Lat years team quit on Gailey, and Gailey quit on them. I like the hire, i think. I will find out after week 16 if it was the right hire. I do not expect the Bills to be awesome next year, but to play smart fundementaly sound football would be nice. What Polian or any of these guys say means nothing. Only thing that matters is what Marrone says to his team and how they perform for him,
  15. The fact that his cap hit comes off next year by cutting him nw is reason enough to do so. Next year the Bills will have that extra room to sign a key guy or two. Would you not like to resign Woods next off season? Fitz's contract could go a long way to deciding if the Bills can do that or not.... food for thought.
  16. These endorsements are a little worrisome. It seems as if people are trying to put at ease many Bills fans initial concerns/reactions to the hire. Kudos to Brandon going out and getting all the sound bites from different players, coaches, and league people. It is better than people saying something like 'i did not think he was HC material, or not sure he is ready yet'.
  17. I do not see A Williams to SS either. To me SS is a guy who can fill the hole, has ball skills, and can deliver a hit once he arrives. What in A Williams game makes people believe he can do any of those things well?
  18. Ogletree in round one Astro. The Bills need an elite 3 down LB given how the NFL is these days. Ogletree seems one of the few who can fit that this year. Dline and WR are deep this draft. I would not consider one of those positions untill the 3rd. Second round than becomes QB or CB. Yes the Bills need a QB, but taking one just to take one is silly. If their is a CB in round 2 still available that has starter potential, take him.
  19. This was my thought. $7.5 mil. The Bills do not have a ton of money tied up in the oline right now. Urbik has the biggest deal on the team right now he is signed through 2016- $2.7m, $2.9m, $3.2m, $3.6m(Cap Hit). Glenn has a very team friendly deal for another 3 years, his cap number is biggest in 2015 at $1.5m. Pears and Hairston are signed through 2014 with their combined salary in 2013- $3.5m and 2014 being $4.1m. Woods is set to make $3.3m this season. 2014 he is a FA. This will be a tricky one. If he holds up and has a pro bowl year this year he will command a nice salary. Injuries though will be the thing teams consider. To me lock up Levitre first. The Bills do not have another single 'big' salary on the oline. And between Woods or Levitre i am going with Levitre. Byrd will re-sign or get tagged. It does not make sense not too, unless Pettine think he can do the same or better with a smaller salaried FS. And great work by the OP!
  20. The Bills will bring back either Byrd or Levitre i believe, maybe both. Aaron Williams at FS is a nightmare. He can not cover and as shown little to no ability to be a run stoper as well. LB core is horrible. You saw first hand last year what a talented rookie looks like at LB in Bradham. Makes some plays but also is out of place often. You need atleast one proven Vet at LB. If you want to go young fine, but you need a Bart Scott to help them learn and get them in position. TJax or Fitz- who cares they both are average at best. Maybe Manuel can be the next R. Wilson? If not the Bills will fo rsure be looking at a top 5 pick with that line up.
  21. Sounds spot on. Metz said it, i wonder how many players think it?
  22. They are castoffs because the Jets GM kept thinking they where one player away. He spent too much on about 6 players. He also failed to recognize how bad his QB is. Much like the Bills and Fitz.
  23. Honestly man? How do you not know about a gun in your bag? I mean he did not accidentally put an 8 oz bottle of Pert in his shaving kit!!
  24. Would be nice in the fourth round. His height is 6'0. Could develope into a OLB.Be a nice ST from day one.. Looks to have good cover skill, and a nice burst. Would not be a liabilty on running plays either. he posses the speed to rush the QB and the strength to bring him down once there.
  25. He seemed to me to be the leader on that D. To me that singifies the heart. Maybe a different opinion on what 'heart' is. I know and recognize his play is not what it was. The Bills right now have zero LB's with any real experience. Sheppard is there but has been average at best.
