Yep. We are the only team in the league that has a 'transition' period. Nix should be gone and Whaley should be the GM.

Addition by Subtraction! Cutting him means this franchise has th eposibility of moving forward. Another year with Fitz...well see the last 2+.

I think when Urbik got his deal it signified Levitre was going to be allowed to walk. The Bills will probably sign another decent gaurd for around 4-6 a year. This will allow them to also resign Wood next year. At $8mil a year Levitre would be one of the top paid players on the entire team. I just do not see that happening. I am sure we will know who Levitre is playing for by the end of the day today. Someone will pay him $7.5+ money most likely.

Steven Jackson - Bills need another RB
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure the Falcons will get Jackson. Talk down here is they will wait and see if Jackson lasts a week. Then his price will come down a lot. Falcons do not have a ton of cap room and they need to fill some pretty big holes on D. -
He is and married a hot girl from law and order i think! leodis may not be the smartest guy in the world, but is anyone playing football? I mean if you where so intelligent i am sure there are far more ways you could make a very good living with out reducing your life span by 10-15%. He always seems to want to do well and tries like heck. He is a likable guy with great talent. I hope he is brought back for average starting CB money.

What are the Bills doing defensively?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Pitta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is 46 and been learning from on eof the greatest D coaches around for years. He also comes from a family of good coaches- albeit HS, but still. Phillips is great, not taking anything away from him as a D cord. But Phillips has been a great D Cord for years.... -
Nix not sure on levitre or fitz
atlbillsfan1975 replied to hooper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this is the case, which i am not sure it is. Then i can not believe anyone who is a Fitz supporter will stay on the band wagon for long. I mean if Levitre gets signed somewhere else and it is leaked that the Bills would have signed him if Fitz had restructered. Wow, i will be pissed as hell. It would also say Fitz is not dumb. He realizes he will never get another deal anywhere near the one he has, because he doesn't deserve it. -
Guys he is old and slow. I like the guy a lot and loved what he did for Buffalo while he was here. A positive guy who always brought it. But i watched a couple of Chargers games this year and keyed in on him because i like him. He is very pedestrian. We just let go of an aging LB. Spikes has no direct connection with Pettine or his D style, so he would be learning just like younger guys. The only over the hill LB i would remotely be interested in is Bart Scott. If Scott and Pettine are tight this would make a lot of sense. Scott would be very useful helping the younger guys learning and getting set.

This stinks of McShay still not wanting to admit he was wrong about Glenn.
-
Signed as an Undrafted Free agent. He rode in the equipment van from the airport the same day the Bills picked Kelly up in a limo. I know it is an old story but classic. Kind of symbolic of the two being joined together for the next decade and their different styles Glenn has a lot to prove to be considered the best value ever picked by the Bills at Oline. I am a huge Glenn fan and was on record advocating him playing LT last offseason pre-draft. he did a good job his first year and if he builds and grows into the position we can discuss it more in a few years....

At this late date it might be best to let him hit FA. I mean let him see what he can command on the open market. If he gets an $8+mil deal then good for him. I do not think the Bills should pay him that. If after a couple days maybe things are what they are and he take a $7mil deal. And guys we are talking about $1,000,000 not $1 so there is a big difference.

Bills interested in Dannell Ellerbe?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the best thing for Ellerbe is to re-sign with the Ravens. I do not think he is the next Ray Lewis but is very good. Kruger wanting 10 mil may happen, but no tin Buffalo. -
Movie Draft Day No Longer About Bills

Come on man. It still would have been nice to have Buffalo and the Bills featured. -
Why does everyone think Matt Ryan is a top 6 QB?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes but they didn't lose those games. In fact i would contend those games where close because the D for Atlanta is very average with little depth. They won most of those games because of Ryan. With out Ryan on the Falcons they are probably a 4-6 win team. I wonder how many people here giving an opinion on Ryan have seen the majority of his games. I have. The guy has yet to win the big game. He is a very good QB who has great poise and good over all talent. He is not the most god gifted QB in the league. He also has had 2 O cords and not missed a beat. -
Between now and draft night i can see so many things happening. To me this draft is so muddy with who thinks what about which player. I think some teams will be posturing and playing games to see if a desperate team will bite on a trade. I believe there just might be a few teams who value one guy way more then another team, so they just may make the trade. With the cap now in place for the draft the not jumping up because of the huge salary increase is gone. This should allow a few teams to take an educated risk on a guy. We could see a record amount of first round trading...or we could see everyone stay pat. This year is a total crap shoot i think

Bennett and Keller are the two guys i like way more and for a lot less then Finley. Bennett seems to have gotten a little more humble once he left the drama of Big D. Keller i wanted so bad in the draft when the Jets jumped up and took him just before us!

Bills interested in Dannell Ellerbe?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why i highly doubt he hits FA. The Ravens will have to make the decision between Ellerbe or Kruger, and Kruger goes. -
[please fix subject]Linebacker
atlbillsfan1975 replied to unpaid_bills34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I use to feel the same way, but i am starting to wonder if the league is changing some? Look at the contracts and also some of the best passers in the league. Gaurds/C are starting to gain more and more attention. I do not think the Bills have the luxury of taking a gaurd because they still need to figure out the 'passer'. If you have dominate interior linemen who can open up lanes for not only the running back but QB, you can go after any QB. Even one sub six feet tall -
filling the "holes" with useful vets
atlbillsfan1975 replied to jcbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just do not see the Ravens letting Ellerbe go. From what has been reported the Ravens view him as the heir to Ray. I think it is going to take some cash to keep him which could mean Kruger shakes free. Flaccos' monster deal and Ellerbe should mean the Ravens will have to make a tough decision or two. Not to mention they still have to decide what to do with Ed Reed. He will come back for another year he says, but it is not going to be for Vet min. -
Those on the board who realize Fitz is what he is and are tired of it know football. The rest are living in denial. Taking nothing but receiving options with your high picks when you have back up talent at QB is not smart....ask Detroit and Matt Millen how that works out.

Geno Smith vs Matt Barkley last 2yrs
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My question is what does Nix have to lose? It is a belief that this is his last draft before Whaley gets promoted to acting GM. Nix could pick the QB with Whaley and then turn the operation over to Whaley. If it works out Nix has a legacy he can be proud of. If not Whaley goes and picks his guy in two years. The Bills have to try and get a QB who could be your franchise guy, instead of thinking some miracle is going to happen and retreads will become the next Kelly. -
Geno Smith vs Matt Barkley last 2yrs
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is spot on. Especially when picking outside of the top 5. I mean any guy you pick is going to have questions about his game. I would rather pick a QB at 8 and have the CHANCE he turns into our next franchise QB then pick another guy who MAY turn into our next franchise MLB, CB, WR, or whatever other position we are trying to fill with the pick. Geno or Barkley both have the tools to be very good to maybe even great QB's in the NFL. They could aslo not pan out. -
Ah, smart move by the Raiders then to 'start showing interest in Geno'. The Raiders then dangle their pick and see if a team like the Bills jumps at it. I think between now and the draft their is going to be a lot of 'games' being played. This draft has so many players that have little differential value. It will com edown to what team thinks what about a certain guy. There does not appear to be lock down number 1-5 guys. This opens the door for trades to happen all over the place in the first round. Might make for an exciting first night.

I am starting to think the Raiders will take Geno. It just seems like the type of move Al Davis would have made if he were still here. I would like this draft a lot provided the Bills get a LB or two in FA.
