The Robert Kraft Monopoly of the Truth
atlbillsfan1975 replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best thing that could of happened this week in regards to Kraft was Welker's agents coming out with their side of the story. It took some brass ones to do so, but i applaud them. Kraft was full of it and they did not let him skew the facts. If you have ever watched any interaction with BB and Welker you knew Welker was gone. BB likes smart guys and team guys. Welker is not exactly that. He is good and talented, but that diminishes with age. I think the Pats where trying to phase Welker out to begin the year in 2012, until the realized they could not. And btw what is going on with Krafts face? -
Interview with Buddy Nix from Owners Meetings
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After the entire Prank phone call incident, I am done with Nix. Not that it was that one single event, but adding everything up, he is not the man for the job. He is a decent scout on some levels, but i do not believe he is a GM. Nix is 70+years old. I am sorry but the type of work a GM has to do is not easy. The hours and the travel and constant meetings where you must be sharp. That phone call and listening to Nix when he thought no one was listening was telling. I do not think he is a good poker player. I think he is an honest and nice man, who got offered a job he had no business being offered. That, unfortunately, is how the Bills F.O. has been run for years now... -
Astro- You get the sense that this year is going to be crazy? Like for the first time in awhile ,nobody really knows what anyone is really going to do?? This year could set a record for trades one way or the other. I mean some teams will have one value on a guy that is vastly different than what another team has. I know that happens every year to some degree but for some reason it seems more prevalent this year?

Can someone explain the Whaley faith to me?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chuck Knox? We are talking about the way things where done 30 years ago? I met Chuck Knox and was around the Bills during the 70's and 80's. granted i was a kid. The only thing i remember Knox doing was telling my cousin he killed Santa...true story. And yes my cousin was 6 and still believed in Santa...ha! -
So why is he leaving Oakland??? Ha

Or You have an owner who realizes his owning a football team does not mean he knows much about football. i look the the Atlanta Falcons when i say this. Once Blank realized he knew very little about the actual process of setting up a winning team and thus 'promoted' McKay to president and they hired Dimitrof as GM, did the Falcons become legit. IF you get the GM right the rest falls into place. Heck look at our own Bills...Wilson owned them while Polian put together the Super Bowl teams. -

I wanted a complete turn over. i know my wants do not matter. If the Bills where serious about change they would have let everyone go from Nix on down. Dave Caldwell wanted to go to Buffalo, but now he is in Jax. It will be interesting to watch the Jags and Bills and see who is better in 3-4 years from now. The Jags and Bills are very similar in their situations. Both need a qb and both have been struggling for years. I personally think Caldwell experience and places he has worked provided him with a better resume. But the Bills have decided to stay in house. I hope Whaley does step up and becomes the next Polian and not the next Nix. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB - Tennessee Titans
atlbillsfan1975 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You forgot to add- The entire prank phone call thing. It was horrible or great timing depending on what out come you wanted. But no doubt that had to ruffle Fitz's feathers just a bit. As it would me or most other people with pride. -
Take your QB Smith. I am sorry but i would rather roll the dice with him then any other guy at 8. Every guy on that list has some question about him or else he would be gone before the Bills pick at 8. So to me take the most valuable position on the field and coach him up. From everything i have read he has the talent, work ethic, and intelligence to be a starter in the NFL. He played on a team with a horrible D and was often trying his best to keep his team in games. His record down the stretch was not great but his personal performance was solid. The guy put up 42 tds to 5 ints in 13 games. That tells me the guy knows how to make the right decisions.

New Stadium Already Being Discussed?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The American side of the Falls needs to be blown up. The stadium would be perfect. Wax museum and the Rainbow Mall and everything else over there that was built in the 60's and 70's and 80's is horrible. Detractable dome that would be able to have a view of the Falls would make it the best stadium in the NFL. Buffalo could host a SB or two with in the first 10 years. Think about it. Tha casinos the falls the Bills. It would be amazing. Which is probably why the politicians will never let it happen. For some reason Buffalo seems like it wants to slowly die. -
Salary Cap Question Going Forward
atlbillsfan1975 replied to AtlBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dibs- Is there any site that has an updated Cap team by team? One that updates daily? -
Those stats do not show one thing. Luck is a winner Fitz- Not so much. By this i mean i remember at least three games where Luck brought his team back to win games last year. I remember three games last year where Fitz sealed a defeat for the Bills.

Yep. it is also how the Steelers do things and also how the Giants do things to a degree. you resign the guys you have to have, like a QB!!! because you realize they deserve it. You do not overpay over the hill guys to long term deals that will hamstring you. You also must have a good Front Office with a good scouting department and a good GM. A good coach who is working directly with the F.O. and they are all on the same page. It is called a good orginization. Something the Bills have not been for over a decade. We shall see what happens. I think the Bills will sign a few more FA. I think the will pay fair market value for them. That means you are normally not a big player the first few days. Miami has made a huge splash this week. But they still have a huge question mark at QB. If you do not have that right, all the other stuff is not going to win you a SB and that is why yoare here.

The depth chart, as of 3/13/13
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I echo the sentiments of the other posters- thank you. Guys like Searcy and Bradham you have to hope step up and progress. Bradham showed flashes last year he belongs on the field. You could clearly tell on other plays he was out of position. If the coaches can focus his talent he is going to be a keeper. Searcy is a little more of an unknown as to what to expect. He can not use the 'rookie' excuse like Bradham or Graham. Graham also showed flashes of his talent last year. You can not expect every third rounder will turn out like Wilson. I think the chart is fair based off last years production. I however hope our coaching staff gets more out of our players this year then last. I also do not think the Bills are done finding another couple of starters through FA. -
Stevie wants DHB (Update - goes to Colts)
atlbillsfan1975 replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He fits the mold of the type of guy the Bills are targeting this off season. Has shown production and starting capability and should come at a fair price. If he is still out there by tomorrow his asking price should be around $5mil base and then incentives to kick it up to maybe $6.5-$7mil. Yep . He seems like exactly the type of guy the Bills are most likely targeting- shown starting ability, right age, and can be had most likely at a fair price. The longer he goes unsigned the better the price gets. -
I feel the same way. Not spectacular but fills a need and come at a fair price. This allows you to give the big contract to one of your own if you feel he deserves it. The Bills need 3or 4 more of these types of signing- Gaurd, WR, and Saftey or LB. Lawson will contribute a good deal and should compete to start. This is what the Bills need more of. FA who have displayed starting ability and are atleast 28 y.o or younger.

You really should read the entire thread.

Both the Bills and Jets are realizing the mistake they made with their QB of choice. They both realize they do not have a franchise QB. So if you do not have that you do not have the luxury of keeping over paid aging vets. Atleast the Bills finally did something about their QB position with the release of Fitz(this also will help the Bills ability to sign a bigger FA next year). Until the Jets do the same they are stuck in neutral. Personally i would like to see the Bills add a couple guys in the next few days for fair market price that will be around for 3-5 years. Draft a QB at 8 and fill in your other spots with the next 3 picks. Then the Bills new coaching regime needs to step in and coach. I think this is also where the Bills atleast realized they had made a mistake. The Jets will part ways with Ryan after he stinks it up this year. Another year down the drain. To me, atleast the Bills are showing they are trying to move forward. Now They just have to make some good moves over the next year.
-
I actually like the Bills waiting this year. lets be honest we need to fill a lot of positions. So paying premium dollars for one or two guys this year is not in the cards. Instead i think we are going to see much better coaching and getting guys in the right place to make plays. The difference between the best and the worst talent in the NFL is not as great as some may think. A players coachability is though.

Dannell Ellerbe to Dolphins
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree all signs pointed to the Ravens trying to keep him. But a good GM has anumber in mind that he says 'i am not going over this' . I think the Phins, had a different number in mind. Newsome who saw Ellerbe on a day to day basis did not feel like he was worth it. 5 years $35mil is a lot for a LB who has very little track record to show what he can do. I wanted him, but those numbers are a little aggressive for me. -
I do not think the Bills are going to over pay for anyone this year. They will pay fair market price for a couple starters, those deals happen after the first and second day 'mega' deals get done. Let Fitz's contract and cap hit come off the books next season. They will have plenty of room to sign Byrd to long term deal and also re-sign Wood. The Bills will start signing guys starting tomorrow or Thursday. By Friday look for the Bills to have atleast 2 new players that will be starters.

Tebow. What have we got to lose ?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to jaybee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We just got rid of one QB who was setting the franchise back, why replace him with another? If your move is to have every Church bring a bus to the game right after mass, fine. Otherwise how does it make sense? -
Maybe Buddy used all his minutes trying to call back the Tampa GM a hundred times? Looks like some of the 'reasonable' guys are already moving off the market.

Dannell Ellerbe to Dolphins
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Got to trust Newsome. If Ellerbe was that good i think he would still be a Raven. I will wait to see terms of the deal to totally say the Phins overpaid for him but, Newsome is a good GM who knows when to let guys walk. -
Levitre's greatest attribute was him being able to stay healthy. He also was able to play LT (decently) and also Center (below average). He is a good gaurd, i will give you that. Just do not think he really wanted to come back to Buffalo for some reason. I am sure more will come out and we may find out how far off the Bills where.
