Bills sign UFA DT Alan Branch to 1 year deal
atlbillsfan1975 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would be a nice pick up. Should not cost a lot is only 28 and provides depth/rotation at a key spot. Sounds like a perfect back up for K Williams and can spell him during the games with out a huge drop off in production. -
3 round mock post Kolb
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do not see Nix going Oline in the first. After all the teams in the top 10 playing QB musical chairs i do not see trade downs being available to the Bills. At 8 i think Nix will go for a play maker on O or D. I know that is vague but an impact type of player. Be it a pass rusher or WR. Safety is also a posibility. Ogletree was my pick right after the season ended. I know he has had some issues off the field, but he could be the guy we say in 3 years 'we should have taken him'. Like Clay Matthews? -
Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb
atlbillsfan1975 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is what many TBD people are missing. I believe in Kolbs five starts for the Cards last year he was sacked something like 25 times. If the Bills line can protect him and he gets comfortable in the pocket i think he has the ability to pick teams apart and make the right decisions. He did this in Philly. The Fitz to Kolb comparison is valid in some regards, i am hoping the change of scenery, a better oline, and better running game will translate into better QB play. -
The Phins are putting together a nice squad on paper. And i like the HC. I hate to say it but give them a year or two and if the QB matures they may be on to something. The QB is the big question for them, like all teams. If you have that in place then the rest of your roster becomes a lot easier to address.

Romo 6yr 108 million
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly right. its like being in a relationship because it is 'comfortable' or fear of the unknown. This is the Cowboys settling on an average guy. Romo is not bad but he is far from great. Just like the Bills knee jerked with Fitz after a couple of good games in 2011, the franchise had gone for so long with out a decent qb. The first sign of something to think this could be our next qb they jumped on him. Especially when you consider the Boys went from Aikmen to nobody just like the Bills from Kelly to '?'... -
Possible Flynn trade to Raiders, Palmer to Cardinals
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said awhile ago i am interested in seeing what Dave Caldwell does at 2 with the jags pick. If Geno gets past them and makes it to the Bills and they draft him it does not mean he will be bad, but i will be cautiously optimistic it turns out ok. Dave knows qbs. Him and i have had talks in the past about when he was a scout for Indy and they drafted Manning and when the Falcons drafted Ryan. It is going to be a fun draft night for sure -
Romo 6yr 108 million
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really, Top Ten guy? Brady Rogers Brees E. Manning Flacco M. Ryan P. Manning for atleast the next two years Roethlisberger Kappernick R. Wilson Luck Stafford After that i put Romo in with a group of guys like- Newton, Schaubb, RGIII, Cutler, he is maybe a top 15-20 guy. I hear what your saying about 'thats the going rate for a good qb' but Rome is average at best. He plays behind a good line, has good wr's, good TE, and played with good RB for most his career. Who knows for sure how it will pan out. But i can tell you if any of you have Cowboy fans that are friends like i do, they are pissed. -

This takes Nix off the hook for worst deal with a QB in the past 5 years. Numbers aside why are they locking up a guy for 6 years who has not done much to warrent that. And yes it is moves like this by dumb owners who drive up the numbers! -
Exactly- For some reason the Bills quietly get a pass it seems from the media on how bad they have been for the past 13 years. If Buffalo played in a big market the media on a national level would kill the Bills. i remember a few years ago when Buffalo started out hot, people like J Rome where saying it is good for football for the Bills to be relevant....

ESPN Insider : McShay latest 2 rd mock draft
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Dat Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like McShay said 'what did the Bills lose this off season, and who will be available?' He also used the Marrone tie to Nassib. McShay proved once again why he should not be the heir apparent to Mel! Not like Mel has been great for about a decade is ever. -
I do not see either happening. The Bills just parted ways with one failed back up to starter experiment. I do not see them giving that a second chance so soon.

Stevie wants DHB (Update - goes to Colts)
atlbillsfan1975 replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Playing with Stafford and across from Calvin Johnson, what is not too like about that? It is more appealing then Buffalo. Now Detroit just has to want him too! -
Fred Davis FA TE has dinner with Bills brass
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Scott_36's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure a one year deal would be good for the Bills. It is not like the Bills are a player or two away from being a constant playoff contender. Why not lock him in for 3+ years with character clauses and performance kickers? He is not over the hill and if the medical staff clears him this is what i would like. -
Does being gay make him any slower, any weaker, or any less able to perform his position skills then before WE KNEW he was gay? Honestly it is good for gay rights and good for humanity. What a man does behind behind closed doors is his right as long as they are not infringing on anyone elses rights. I hope his team mates support him and act like mature professionals about it.

Waiting for Round 2 worth the risk?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are maybe a couple of reasons for this. First off a gaurd is no where near as noticable as a QB or even a tackle. Gaurds are often times getting help from another linemen or even a RB. With many rookies coming into the NFL and instantly succeeding at QB i think the times are changing. It takes a smart coach to develope his qb. Also scheme to his strengths earl on to build confidence, -

No any player. Think about it, if he was the best prospect to come out at his position in a few years and a 'sure fire lock' he would be gone by 8. he just would. Those guys are always gone by 5 heck even 3 usually. -

I hear you. But the fact that it went from a meeting to now a visit, that sounds more like sincere interest. I know he could be playing the Bills but i am sure numbers were discussed already. His agent left the meeting and called the Skins and told them what type of numbers the Bills are offering. The Skins probably are waiting now to see if the Bills trainers ok him and then the agent will make one last phone call back to the Skins with the Bills offer. It is then up to the Skins to come close or he probably signs with the Bills. Kind of how i see it playing out. -

Yep. At pick 8 any guy the Bills pick will have some question to his game or else he would be gone. Since QB is the most important player in the NFL take the guy you think has the most upside. If Smith is there you got to take him. Guy had 42 td's and 5 int in 13 games playing against solid caliber opponents. I am not saying he is a lock, but he is big and strong, and the td to int ratio tells me he knows how to make good decisions. He likes to watch film and is a hard worker. Tell me what about that stuff is not to like? If his TEAM had made it to the NC game with his same stats, he would be a top 3 pick no doubt. -

atlbillsfan1975 replied to Scott_36's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they are flying him in it is for the doctors to take a look at him. IF the doctors see he is on the path to recovery then the Bills will make him the offer they already discussed at dinner. The Bills must have said something he and his agent liked hearing for it to get to that point. As for some of the staff and front office going, who cares? They are making him feel wanted, which may get them the edge. Not saying Davis is a huge signing but he is a need based signing. I like Chandler a lot, but the Bills need more guys who can run after the catch. Given right now the Bills have a journey man at QB and are likely to draft a qb early, having a 'play making TE' makes a lot of sense. -
New Stadium Already Being Discussed?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no real dog in the fight either way to be honest. But i think a stadium that could have a view of the Falls in the background would be amazing on so many levels. The entire American side of the Falls is a disgrace. I know it will never happen, but it could help the city. A new stadium could create an entirely different area. I know in Atlanta we have 3-4 different little areas where there is commerce, hotels, rest/bars, and retail. These areas thus have plenty of housing around them as well. In the end a Stadium anywhere other then oout in the middle of no where, like it currently is would be better. -

atlbillsfan1975 replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. I am always amazed at how few people realize where the Falls are in location to Buffalo. It takes what 10-15 mins to get to the Falls from Buffalo. In most other cities, that is how long it takes to go anywhere...if not much longer. I live in Atlanta, average commute here has got to be like 20 mins. When i lived in Buffalo back in 99 i was training for a marathon. I stayed with my Aunt off Colvin in Kenmore, i remember it taking me no more then 15 mins to get to the Falls to run. -
Doug Marrone botches Buffalo Bills backup QB's name
atlbillsfan1975 replied to brenty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Makes me think about Bobby Bowden his last 10 years at FSU. He would mention a player by his number during half time side line interviews. He had no clue what the name was of 90% of the guys who played for him. -
Could we play Balitmore Thursday night season opener?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can the Steelers not host them? This would be the very obvious choice. The Bills played them close in Baltimore a few years ago, but honestly what about Buffalo is compelling from a Netional stand point? It would be like having the 49ers play Tampa Bay to start the year...if the 49ers had won. -

PTR- Who cares about the roads? I mean really, it is 7 days out of the year and they are usually Sundays when there hsould be little to no other traffic. Places like San Fran and Pitt have stadiums which have to over come geographic boundries like water or mountains. The Falls is the place to build the Stadium, it just makes so much sense for so many reasons. It could be one of the main catalysts which put Buffalo back on the right path and start to really bring the pop. back. -
Urlacher? Wonder if he has anything left at all? Bears and he could not come to an agreement.
