  1. You bring up a good point in how do they pay for it. Maybe they have an Aunt or Uncle who could take out a loan for it or who knows how the payment is structured for the policy premium. The rookie scale has helped a lot but i still think there is a big difference between getting top 3 money and going in the 3rd round or worse. Thanks for the info on insurance. I knew they had policies out there but had not seen the total loss clause. I also did not realize they had a drop in draft status plan now too. God Bless Insurance Co. If you can think of it and pay for it they will write a plan.
  2. Ok, i will admit i try to read into things at times. I will make connections between one situation and another. My one to think about is Jadeveon Clowney. His injury is one like the PF that Byrd has. Basically you have to wait till the player says he is good to go. Here is where my conspiracy comes in, what IF Parker turns out to be Clowney's agent?? Coincidence?? Speculation is that Clowney is just trying to get through the season healthy so he can turn pro and make money. And yes he was teammates with Marcus Lattimore so he has seen first hand how an injury can change everything. If Clowney does not play another down but goes to the combine and kills it he will be a top 3 pick. Heck he may be already even if he passes on the combine. I respect Clowney's choice if he is sitting. This also fuels more fire to the pay college athletes discussion. South Carolina raised ticket prices on average of $6 a seat this year. Some say it was large in part due to Clowney. What you guys think? Is my tinfoil helmet on to tight??
  3. They Falcons do not need a SJ type of receiver. If you watch the games they are missing a deep threat option that Ryan loves in Julio Jones. I also think that while we like SJ in Buffalo he is seen more as a possesion type of receiver around the league. Ryan has Gonzalez for that. Ryan also has Harry Douglas. I doubt highly the Falcons will make this type of move unless Thomas D and Mike Smith feel they will be fired if the Falcons do not make the playoffs.
  4. While i agree i think that at some point it is going to take EJ saying to Hackett we need to open it up more, i am ready. The jets OC seems to realize Geno's strengths and weakness' and is trying to optimize and minimize both. Hackett is using the ,bringing a guy along very slow approach,. Granted EJ is playing verse sitting but i hope what we have seen so far is not indicative of the entire play book Hackett and Marrone use.
  5. Manning struggles outdoors in cold weather, he always has. It struck me weird when he signed with Denver because of this. Would Denver be a better team with Byrd? of course. However Denver also has to think about life after Manning. Denver won 2 Super Bowls not very long ago. the pressure or desire from the owner is great but not as great as an Arthur Blank or D Snieyder. I doubt the Broncos will end up as a trade partner for Byrd. His salary along with some of the others they have would make him a luxury they can not afford.
  6. No he does not. Use the interweb, it is awesome. he injured his shoulder once his junior year and missed one game. He started every other games his junior and senior year. his freshman and sophmore season he played when Christian Ponder got hurt. As NoSaint said and others have, he has had two injuries on two seperate knees. You guys have got to stop with this stuff. If you want to take a shot at EJ take a shot at him for being over competitive to try and get a few extra yards that led to him getting hurt. But i remember another great qb named Jim Kelly who played the same way early in his career.
  7. Ding Ding Ding!!!! Exactly!!! EJ will be the better pro then Smith i have no doubt in my mind. Barring injuries Smith is another Sanchez, Fitz, etc...a streaky guy who when on is on and when off, wow! Smith has looked good against teams whith bad/banged up secondaries. he has looked awful agianst good D's. I have now watched 4 of Smiths games and every one of Manuels'. The difference is the Jets have a very good OC while the Bills are hoping Hackett turns into one. End of story.
  8. EJ will be the starter i do not care how Thad looks. He is a back up. And he is not Tom Brady for crying out loud. Ask yourself this, where you the same people who thought Tuel would give EJ a run for the starting comp? Guys, i hope Thad comes in and plays his butt off and the team rallies around him and the Bills win every game 100-0. But EJ is the now and future of the team. We just got done trying to make a back up in a starter with Ryan *hitspatrick! Let us not try to polish another turd and hope he turns out to be the next Brady!!
  9. EJ was drafted 16 by the Bills and the belief was he has the highest potential out of any QB in last years draft. From what i have seen i believe the front office was correct. EJ will be very good if he stays healthy. The guy has the will and 'it' factor. He wants to get better and produce. He is bright and a leader. Give him another year or two and this front office another draft or two and we could be looking at a perennial playoff contender. The important thing is the team is being built all around. key pieces are being put in place for the Bills to be succesful. Over the past two years many of us have had to watch the QB seal a defeat with a bad pick late in the game. So far EJ has done the exact opposite.
  10. I think you are wrong about the read option. Lewis seemed to do that very well in the preseason.
  11. I think a second in the next draft and a second in 2015 would be something both sides could live with. This would give the Bills the opportunity to build the team even more. When you consider the Bills have gotten their starting LT, MLB, and a very good WR in the past 2 drafts in the second round I would do it in a heartbeat. Not to mention you save that money you would spend on Byrd and can use it for your own guys or sign some FA next offseason. Pettine's D has looked solid with out 4 starting defensive backs to date. Once Gilmore, McKelvin, and Brooks are back and Williams can go back to safety I want to see how the D looks. In a perfect world Byrd could be resigned, but I say move on and see what you can get. Build through the draft and become very good for a long time. Now just find a team that needs a safety and pull the trigger! Broncos would be a good fit.
  12. Yep, BB maybe knows something about football but unfortunately the list you mentioned discredits anything else he says. You forgot to mention his Teebow love too. I think maybe BB has actually helped pick the Bills QB since Kelly retired!
  13. I hope the Saints kill the Pats. Honestly they should. I watched 3 Saints games this year and they are a good team, my pick to start the year to come out of the NFC. I assure you Rob has picked Rex's brain over the years on what works against Brady. The Saints should torch the Pats D. Sean Peyton wants to prove he is better then Bellichik. Should be a great 4pm game to watch after Buffalo beats Cincy!
  14. From the Video he looks just like Geno Smith, maybe a little faster. Lewis appears to have a big arm with work needed on accuracy. He was also getting pressured a lot in that video. Him being with the Bills less then a week for sure played a part in his performance. Lets hope the O line steps up big like they did against the Ravens. Lewis is going to need time and lanes. The read option should be used a lot. Nothing from that video made me think he is any less a talent then White or Dixon.
  15. I got to agree on why he was not on the active roster if he is a better option then Tuel. I also will speculate that the Bills do not believe signing a Carr, Dixon, White, etc... is worth it. Possibly EJ's knee is improving and the Bills think he can be back in a few games. The need to go sign someone else is not necessary. OR yes it could be all the other negative reasons- Bills do not want to spend money, Freeman did not want to come to Buffalo, etc.. One thing I do hope is that Hackett will design a plan that is aggressive, Bengals have a good D and trying to line up and smash it down their throats will be silly. Hackett does not have to try and bring Lewis along slowly or worry about hurting his confidence. Open it up if you want to beat the Bengals. Mix it up and throw the kitchen sink at the Bengals.
  16. No on the CB in the first or QB in the first. McKelvin and Gilmore look good. Brooks also has ability for the slot corner. IF EJ comes back in 3-4 weeks and plays good you need to give him some more weapons on O, like a real pass catching TE. Also get a guard. Then turn to the D. personally i think EJ is going to be a keeper, if his body holds up. He has the talent, work ethic and smarts to do it. The Bills have another draft class like this past one and the Bills are on the way to being a playoff team for years.
  17. I do not see this as being an issue. EJ is very mature. i doubt a bad element would bring him down. Instead i see EJ as the type of positive guy who could elevate someone else. Maybe Freeman in Buffalo could help Freeman? I hope Whaley is in charge of the decision. We know Nix and the GM for Tampa have a relationship from the TMZ leak. Dominick did little to help mediate the issues between Schiano and Freeman which makes me believe Dominick has little regard for Freeman. Personally Freeman gives the Bills the best option to win. Anyone else off the street most likely not so much. Dixon is another interesting posibility. He knows how to run a fast paced O and has athletic ability to run the read option. Something tells me Dixon may be the guy the Bills sign.
  18. Yes, the Easley not playing wide out is a mystery. With the talk of Hackett being a young guy who adjusts i have yet to see that. If anything Hackett seems stubborn and rigid in his calls and personel. S.T. are important but i think Easley could handle 10-15 snaps at WR too.
  19. I would say Freeman. Freeman first since he is in game shape and ready to go. Also the Bills play 3 more games against NFC south opponents. This could help his learning curve of the offense. Tuel just is not very good right now. I know Freeman would like a long term deal but if none are coming, which they have not, then he needs to sign. Freeman treats the time he can start as an audition for next year. Maybe not for Buffalo but teams always have a need for a serviceable QB, Tuel is not one right now.
  20. No question Kiko is a better talent then Talley was but heck so is most everyone in 2013 vs the 80's and 90's. What i meant was we have not had a legit MLB in the prime of his career since Talley. Kiko is not in his prime yet. IF this kid stays healthy and keeps his game progressing, he is going to be a great one. Talley also held that D together and was the leader. Talley was the quiet one settling all the issues between the very big egos on the team.
  21. Add in McKelvin and A. Williams to that list too. Both of those guys have come a long way and have impact player ability. But i get your point. Kiko is what we have been waiting for since D.Talley. Give Kiko another year or two at this rate and he might be regarded as the next patrick willis.
  22. Sounds just ike this board. they seem pretty level headed. Whoever the dbag Bills fan was in there pissed me off. Lets hope our players work hard and the coaches come up with a good game plan. I forgot all about the Indians playing Weds night. the dog pound will be rocking a little more on Thursday if the Indians win Weds. The D needs to step up and Pettine needs to dial pressure up on Hoyer. Force him to give the Bills the ball. Sounds like Hoyer will take chances, lets hope our guys are in the right place to make him pay. on offense get Woods and Chandler involved EARLY. Mix in the run and later use play action with EJ under center. This sets up to be a good game against two evenly matched teams. To me it is a pick'em . The battle for Lake Erie is on. With Pitt being down the winner of this one claims the rust belt title! Ha
  23. I do not like the line moving in that direction.
  24. When i see your name i think of that NFL films special on the Ice Bowl. Sabol had the best voice "It was a cold winters day..." and que the music! And yes the Bills should win this game. But that is how i felt against the Jets too. The is a great game to get EJ and this young team/staff their first road win. IF the Bills play hard and disciplined they should walk away with a win. Also Hackett and Pettine must do a good job of disguising the weakness'. Pettine has shown he can do this. Jury out on Hackett.
