Coaching upgrades - Offensive Coordinator
atlbillsfan1975 replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was one of the first to say i did not think Hackett was ready for the NFL. I got scolded by many on here. And i also got fed a bunch of injuries/rook QB/ alternating qb excuses. Hackett is not ready to be QB coach and OC. Bring in a qualified QB coach. People are talking about how good Frank Reich has done out in S.D. helping Rivers. I would like very much to see a qualified proven OC brought in. Like many of us are now saying. Marrone needs to take the same approach with his staff he took with his players. Hackett needs more time in a lesser role. -
Aaron Williams message to Byrd
atlbillsfan1975 replied to qblax16's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And so it begins! Hopefully the Bills will resign him. I doubt highly though that Byrd is back with the Bills unless it is under the tag. Personally time to move on i think. If the Bills can not get a deal done, let him go. -
I have always tried to remain positive. i know the OP was a bit trollish, but he is on to something. I just saw a lot of moments this year where the team looked not ready and Marrone in particular looked out of his league during a game and how he managed EJ. I hope Marrone has learned a great deal this year and will grow from it. I do not really want to fire him. One of the things Marrone needed to learn was that Hackett can not be both QB coach and OC in the NFL. Marrone also needs to show his ST's coach the door. During the year Marrone showed he was not afraid to make player changes in hopes of improvement, he now needs to apply that philosophy to his staff. Address the SJ issue. Personally SJ to me is not a gamer. I am not talking about his character but about his inability to make plays when you need them. Please do not bring up the Carolina catch, even a broke clock is right twice a day and that was a catch anyone of us on here could have made. This type of person is not needed on this team. SJ needs to be traded for something while he has some value. Marrone makes some of these moves and he will show me he has learned something and i will buy back into him. IF Marrone comes back with the same staff then we should be prepaired for much of the same next year.

Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland
atlbillsfan1975 replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or could see him in Atlanta. I think Mike Smith gets one more season. if he does not get the Falcons back to this championship game next year, Smith is gone. -
Tannehill is an average QB. He remids me of the guy you keep thinking is going to be a star and just never does. He is a less talented less clutch Matt Ryan.

Alan Branch Signs Extension
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I 100% agree with this. I think the system took some time for the players to get more comfortable in it. I also think would like Carrington back, but i would be no means over pay for him. That is where the Bills F.O will have to look at the entire budget and figure out a suitable offer. I am sure he will get an offer from the Bills. I agree Carrington is a solid versatile back up in my opinion. A guy who can play all along the Dline it appears. Nose gaurd is a stretch but DT or DE is not. -
Alan Branch Signs Extension
atlbillsfan1975 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think people are more concerned with Parker as his agent. I am willing to bet the Bills will make Carrington and Parker an offer before FA begins. It will be contingent on Carrington signing before FA. Once FA starts the offer would be pulled. Parker then will have to decide what to do. I love Branch coming back. I would like Carrington too, but for FMV for a guy with very little resume. As others have stated a one year $2-3mil deal would be more then fair. Let Carrington show what he has. It would probably mean next offseason he signs a multi-year deal with someone else. -
Marrone's Rookie Mistakes as First Year Head Coach
atlbillsfan1975 replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So do you think Russell Wilson would be Russell Wilson had the Bills drafted him? heck even if Wilson was drafted this year by Marrone and Hackett? My point is coaching makes so much more of a difference in today's NFL then ever before. It is not just a 'X and O' or 'you are professionals so you play hard' league. Our society in general is much less mature then it was 20 years ago. People 'grow up' slower. You need a coach who can relate to HIS team. Not saying that there is only one style of coach that will work, but the coach needs to figure out how to motivate his team. Failure to be a good motivator in today's NFL is just as bad a not being a good schemer. I think your percentages are off. I personally think it is closer to 50/50. -
Marrone's Rookie Mistakes as First Year Head Coach
atlbillsfan1975 replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100% could not agree more with you. A lot of people here want to say injuries are the reason this team is 5-9. I think that plays some into it but just as much is poor O coaching. -
Can Thad Lewis be our Russell Wilson?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do think Marrone is half the coach Pete Carrol is? I do not. If he was EJ could be probably as good as Wilson. Look no further then your coaches. The Bills have terrible Offensive coaching, thus terrible offense. Say what you want, i have been calling Hackett brutal since the second game. The writing was on the wall. He is in over his head and so is Marrone. The best thing we can hope for is Marrone resigns. A new GOOD coach comes in and works well with EJ. I have noclue why i think this could occur. The Bills have not had a good coach in 15 years. -
Lewis to start / Manuel out
atlbillsfan1975 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OR EJ is frail. He has a long lengthy frame that can not stand the hits of the NFL. To me EJ appears to play best when he is able to be mobile, however his body can not take NFL hits. So where does that leave you? trying to turn a mobile QB into a pocket passer? That has trouble written all over it. Bills blew another first round pick, great! -
For those of you missing Levitre
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are missing the point. I am not sure anyone here is upset with Andy. The Bills would not pay an above average OG like one of the best. Levitre's best attribute was his ability to stay healthy. Honestly he was good, but not worth what Tenn. paid. No way no how. They will regret that signing. The Bills need to addres OG this offseason. The Bills chose to resign Wood over Levitre. I do not blame them. Wood is better at his position then Levitre. Wood has been healthy. -
For those of you missing Levitre
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Levitre did not deserve that money but Titans thought he did. Good for him. I also loved Fitz being Fitz yesterday! Hope they enjoy Fitz and Levitre for years! -
That is just way to early to declare. RGIII looked awesome last year. This year he can not hit the broadside of a barn. A lot of this has to do with his injury. But i would also contend a lot has to do with his relationship with his HC. My point is good coaching can make the world of difference. I contend that Hackett and Marrone are in way over their collective heads. They not only are realizing how much more stressful the NFL is but also they are lacking a coach. Either an OC or QB coach must be hired in the offseason. Personally i would go with both and let Hackett go. Marrone must admit his mistake and move on. He seems to have no problem doing so with players, he needs to show that same resolve with coaches!

I heard today on local radio one of the NFL guys, Steve Wyche , i believe giving Frank Reich credit for Phillip Rivers turn around. Whisenhunt and McCoy have worked really well together. I started to think i wonder if the Bills had hired McCoy and Whize and Reich what could our record be? 3 guys with all NFL experience. i got to believe the O would look so much better with proven NFL guys coaching. You guys who say 'Marrone and Hackett are learning how to coach in the NFL' are driving me nuts. You should not hire a coach who needs to learn how to be a NFL coach. The best we can hope for his Marrone realizes he is not cut out to be a HC and resigns. Lord knows the Bills will let him stick around for another 2 years.

Anyone else feeling like they just don't care?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to xsoldier54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am with you xsoldier. I am just over the crappy play the crappy coaching just the mess that it is. I think the biggest issue i am having right now is because i think Marrone was a bad hire. Thus we have at least 2 more years of this to watch. I have not seen much from Marrone or Hackett to give me a lot of faith that they will turn this team into winners. I think that is why i am so depressed right now when i think about the Bills. It is more about not just this year but the next two season's are probably going to be much of the same. -
he is not a gamer my friend. he is just an average guy who has barely got over 1000yds two season's in a row. I have no way to prove this but i wonder how many of his yards come in garbage time? When the game is on the line i would rather Stevie be on the bench. How many games does he have to blow??

What coaches should be let go?

DraftTek Positional Needs Due 8pm EST
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It appears marrone's philosophy to date is 'I can coach up guys'. To date he has failed at that. Brown and Legursky have stunk. The rest of the unit has played about the same or worse then last year. This fact leads me to believe the Bills will not go OL until at earliest last second(trade) or third round. -
I would say 6000 now. And in a few more years it will probably happen.
