Atlanta tabs Quinn as HC, Shanahan has OC.
atlbillsfan1975 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the Quinn hire. On the fence as far as Shanny goes. He will have a real QB here so it will be interesting to see what he can do with Ryan and Jones. IF Pioli and Dimitrof can get on the same page and draft some guys on D they could turn things around in Atl pretty quick. -
Fellas, do we not ALL want our qb to succeed? Gailey was a good OC I wonder how good he would of been if that was his main charge and not HC. Let's hope Romain will be as good if not better at OC as Gailey would have been if not for HC duties. If so I think we are onto something!

Aaron Kromer : O Line coach
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you would agree there is a physicality in the NFL that takes a moment to adjust to. This is part of what Rex was talking about in his presser. CK and CR need to get stronger and also learn where they need to be. On the line a split second means who gets better leverage. If you hesitate because you are trying to remember who or where to block you are going to get whipped more times then win. Unfortunately i remember hearing a few singing Marrones. -
This is too funny.... Marrone trys for Jax OC

I agree 100% with this. -
Aaron Kromer : O Line coach
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. I was focusing on line but there are examples all over the Offense where Marrone played 'favorites'. -
Hughes is gone unless they franchise him. Someone like Atl will gladly pay the salary of 12 mil a year. They will have buyers remorse just like they did with Peerless Price. Some teams never learn. I like Hughes but no way is he worth 12 mil. Save the money and give it to other guys. Dareus and the Williams boys made Hughes go from average to a standout.

Aaron Kromer : O Line coach

I like this hire a lot after doing a little research on him. Bills have a couple of projects that Whaley drafted last year in CK and CR. I would like to see if Kromer can help develop these guys while getting more out of the other starters like Glenn, Wood, and Henderson. I have to hope that Kromer/Roamn is not a 'i will play guys i like' coach like Marrone was. There is very little to explain why Marrone sat Urbik and played Pears or Williams. As anyone knows in managing people you do not always like someone you work with, but if they do the best job you learn how to motivate and get production from them. Marrone strikes me as the guy that if he didn't like you personally for some reason he wouldn't play you. The talent is here for the line. I really believe that. Oline is all about trust and assignments. You have to work together as a unit and trust that you know your assignment on each play and the guy next to you knows his. Coaching is a huge part at getting each player to feel comfortable on their assignments. When a player is not comfortable with his assignment is when you begin to see the fundamentals break down. As guys become less comfortable the trust less. i really hope Kromer can rebuild this unit with the help of Roman. -
Bears to hire John Fox; Broncos interview Kubiak
atlbillsfan1975 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is not all about the money. If it was about the money, think about how much a Cord or position coach gets. Marrone will have to work 10 years to make what he would of working one more season. Sorry just like when he was coaching Marrone made a bonehead move. It is turning out that owners are more clued in then Marrone thought. Marrone wants to be a coach, he is not going to ever get another shot at it most likely due to his actions. -

Atlanta is going to Quinn i gotta believe with Gase as the OC. Basically leaves Denver. I am glad these other franchises are smart enough not to buy the Marrone hype. -

The other question i have for you is what makes you think Marrone can make good financial decisions? It is looking more and more like he made a huge blunder by leaving the Bills. He made numerous poor decisions while a HC. Just saying i doubt Marrone has 'changed the destiny of his bloodlines for generations'. Marrone strikes me as the kind of guy to tell you how to do your job. He will be telling his Charles Scwabb planner to put it all on icebergs being converted to drinking water in the middle east. -
Is the o-line talent already on the roster?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have stated this in a few threads. Whaley drafted the last draft. he feels those guys can play. They do need some coaching up. Marrone was too arrogant to realize he was not able to do all the tasks he wanted to perform at a high level. I think oline play struggled a lot due to coaching not talent. IF given proper coaching and motivation i really believe Richardson and Kuoandjio can play in this league. -
Dennis Thurman & Donnie Henderson

Take a deep breath and think about who you are getting as the HC. His defenses have always been among the best in the league. There is some room for improvement and remember this D got better under Schwartz, it can get better under Ryan. I think Ryan will have the talent in Buffalo he has not had since his days in Baltimore. I can not wait to see what he cooks up. -
Schwartz may remain DC...
atlbillsfan1975 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure if Schwartz stays or goes, but you sold me on why it is a good reason for him to stay. IF Rex and Schwartz feel they can work together i am all for it. They also seem like two guys who are not going to bs one another. They will state expectations and roles and if they match up Schwartz stays. -
I like the hire. I think Rex gets out of Romans way and lets him call the game he wants. Roman will flourish here. I bet he is gone in a few years as a HC(hopefully after Bills win a SB). Great article.

Gurley would be amazing, i think he will be ready to play at some point during this next season. I will say he was oft injured at UGA. He is a big powerful back with great hands and very agile. That combo does not come around often. Best thing for him could be getting hurt. Maybe he slips to the second half of the first round and goes to a more complete team. If i was Detroit i would be looking to wheel and deal up some.

Chan Gailey to Cleveland Browns?

If true horrible. Chan to Cleveland makes some sense. he would get the most out of Johnny. He did with Fitz. -
SF FA guard Mike Iupati (update: going to Cardinals)

I think we will find out more and more how bad Marrone was as a coach. How in over his head he was and his micro management style was not conducive for younger guys who needed time and growth. Marrone couldn't spend enough time with the kids developing them. Whaley drafted those kids last year. It is difficult for any olinemen to step right in and be successful from college to pro. There is a learning curve. I would not be surprised to see one of the guys besides Sentrel step up and be a starter. -
Rex and Hackett walk into a bar...

Well to this I say I will take trying it with an OC with a proven track record of developing a pro qb over the two morons we had here. -

I really think the Bills are going to try to use the guys they have already. Another year and maybe Kujo and Cyril are ready. Let's see what a new and hopefully more competent staff can do with the talent here. -
I do not see too many there that would be an upgrade on the D side. Maybe some depth rotational guys?

Funny. you almost got me! -
I am not sure how i feel about this hire if it happens. I would prefer a proven OC with HC experience. I think this would help REX be a success. The OC with HC experience is key because he understands the job of HC. Imagine what we had this year in reverse. BUT the HC could actually coach his side of the ball!

makes sense for Ty. Goes back to Michigan where he is respected and revered by the fans and people in Ann Arbor. Doubt it is a huge pay cut. Ty was a better college RB by far than in the NFL. Wish him all the luck! Blaming the RB coach for what happened this year in the rushing attack is silly. Injuries and play calling, pass to rush ratio dictated a lot of that.
