The thought is that Beane and McDermott might feel they can find and coach talent in rounds 2-7 that is good enough to win with at CB. CB is the one position I have little concern Beane and McDermott will get right.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
KC saw the writing on the wall with Hill. I said it in one of the threads a month or so ago that Hill's only asset is his speed. He does not have great hands or a diverse route tree. He also does not strike me as the kind of player to work hard at developing other aspects of his game. His body already started showing signs of wear and tear last year. Good move for KC in the long run, Miami will appear to get the better end of the deal for the first half of 2022. I always trust a well-run organization over one that hasn't been run competently for years. -
Armstead signs with Dolphins

Well if the Phins are even with the Pats then they are leaving them behind. Belichick is a below average drafter. Wheels come off in NE for good next year. -
McKissinc changes mind, returning to Washington
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, and what bothers Beane is the personal relationships he has with the people at Washington. I am getting the picture that Beane is a very genuine person. I don’t think you can ever grow past feeling hurt when someone you like and trust does something unethical. -
Yep, the year after the Panther’s Super Bowl visit they let both corners leave in FA. Carolina then drafted three corners (2,3,5 rounds). I expect something similar this year for the Bills. McDermott has proven he can coach up the defensive backfield. The Bills might sign a vet or two but will happen after draft and/or will not be players we get excited about.

This is exactly the type of guy needed to split reps with McKenzie. Perfect replacement by Beane. The contract is amazing. One year deal, see what happens.

Von Miller's First 24 Hours as a Buffalo Bill

Do you have a case of the Mondays? -
Yea, hopefully Moss gets on the Singletary off-season routine and comes in looking ready to go. Hopefully this will allow Beane to take a smaller quick back in the later rounds.

Joe Haden… I think he’s our guy at CB2
atlbillsfan1975 replied to GolfandBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea, and it is the one position on the entire team that I think McD, Beane, and the rest of the staff can find and coach up a player through the draft. They will have the rookie ready. Look at White, Jackson, and Wallace. All played their rookie year and played pretty good. Jackson and Wallace were not high draft picks. I expect at least a first or second on CB. -
So whats left to do to free up cap?

If McDermott is then I am. -

In the draft right after their Super Bowl, the Panthers drafted 3 corner backs (2nd, 3rd, 5th rounds). I will not be surprised if Beane and McDermott don’t sign a vet and take a similar approach this draft. -

I won’t be surprised when Beasley ends up there. -
OT: The sudden existential crisis in New England

Yep, they have already started with the “we got six rings”. The present and future looks bleak for them. -
Von Miller $17.5M Compared To Past Bills Pass Rushers
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Settle and Jones have already proven they are NFL legitimate players. Jones isn’t a pass rusher he is your prototypical run stuffing DT. He may tie some guys up but he won’t get a ton a pressure. Settle, Phillips, and Oliver can get after the QB for the DT position. I agree we need the young DE’s to take a step forward, and I think they will be given every opportunity to, that’s why Hughes and Addison weren’t brought back. Von Miller has historically played 80% of the snaps, I bet the rotation the Bills implement will help his longevity and effectiveness. There will probably be a bit of a gelling period in the beginning, but I expect the young guys to fall in line behind Von’s example of how to practice and prepare. The dline went from a big question to a much smaller one, if at all. Lawson is really an insurance piece. -
A poor man's Patterson (Laviska Shenault Jr.)
atlbillsfan1975 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
Considering Shenault’s stats and Davis’ stats are almost identical with Davis having over twice as many TD’s, maybe a 5th? -
I know you are kidding to some degree, but think we see them double up on IOL and WR in the draft. I agree CB and WR will be the first two picks most likely.

OT: The sudden existential crisis in New England
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seriously. The longer Bill sticks around the more apparent it will become he wouldn’t have won a single SB w/o Brady. -
Yea, maybe it’s his first name being something I don’t hear often, but it seemed like he was a few years older than that. Definitely would be nice to find someone with his type of production a couple of rounds later in the draft. From the stats Gio’s best season was his rookie year in regards to receiving. He was a second round pick, not something I want the Bills to spend on a RB this draft. I would like Beane and the scouts to find a guy from a smaller school who could give that production. To me, running backs is one of the few positions you can take from a small school and get immediate impact. If a player can run it shows, if a player will hit the hole and go, it shows.
-
Why does it seem like Gio Bernard is 102 years old? I am going to now look up his actual age. Ok, he will be 31 mid season next year. He has had solid production as a receiving back. Last year with Tampa was his worst season as a pro and lowest yards per reception.
-
I like Bates a lot, but the fact the Pats are looking to replace Mason with him is another indication of how poorly Belichick is running that team w/o Brady there to cover up his mistakes.
-
No thanks, when you factor cost of salary and the pick the Rams will want it isn’t worth it. Bill can find immediate help at WR in the draft. Expect them to double up on picks at the position.

Bills inquired on LB Alex Singleton
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
This sounds like a possible Matakevich replacement if the money is right. A special team player who can play backup at LB. Beane never fails to shock me, so anything is possible regarding Edmunds.
