I think the scheme for at least the next two year sin Miami will be to Mario's liking, that is why he signed there. Good for him. He says he isn't feeling it and wants to take a year off to be with his mom and aunt who have health issues. Raji has afforded himself that luxury by what he has made so far. Mario can still play and he will be good for the Phins. He will also play the Bills extremely tough. Mario seems like he has an up and down personality when it comes to the game. I apologize if I sounded like you only need 2 corners in Rex's D. I understand you need good talent in any scheme at as many positions possible. I also agree with the talent that was on the roster being suited for the 4-3. Rex even said he was trying to do what you suggested and he didn't get the job done. Here is the thing, Schwartzs D was good for the Bills personnel 2 yeas ago. That D needs a dominant front 4. It relies more on talent and less on scheme. This is good. The front 4 have the autonomy to usually just control their had with either a rush of clog for the run. Problem with this is cost. In Scwartzs D you have to pay 4 maybe 4 guys premium dollars. Of course you still have to have good corner play, which will come at a price as well. Now Rex's D is more scheme based less individual talent based. Rex's D is based off the unit working together as 1. Rex's D relies on outstanding corner play, leaving them on an island so the other 9 guys can attack. 2 vs 4 premium paid . My thought at least.

The 'lost' guys were for the most part later round draft picks OR guys signed late in FA, except Mario and McKelvin.My point is while all were contributors on some level, that talent can be replaced and doesn't need to be replaced early in FA while teams our over paying. It's up to Whaley and his guys to find the next Rambo's and Boobie's.

Gilmore is good. Can you give me 5 plays he has made that stand out? I mean over his career to date? I think Gilmore will get paid like he is a top 5 CB because the Bills have very little money tied up in the defensive backfield now. I don't want to lose him. I think they make it a contract that the Bills can void after 3 years with minimal hit. Make the cap hit decent sized for the next three years while Darby is on his rookie deal . Gilmore will only be 28 in three years. If he plays good, he will get another big payday.

This is shaping up to be like a Steelers off season. Lock up your guys. Wait for the second or third round of signings to find some Vets for a reasonable rate. I don't think the Bills will be big players . I can see them making a signing in the secondary or LB area.

It may be system fit but it may also be that some of these guys just can not learn a new system quickly. From all accounts Rex's D was not easy to decipher. If a player has a difficult time learning new schemes he will struggle with the change. Nigel can hit like a Mac Truck and always liked the way he played. Too bad it could not work out.

I am glad he is back I wonder if he really did take a discount...i mean there are so many variables to these deals. One team may have offered more overall money but less guaranteed. Or maybe vice versa. Richie signed with the Bills because the money was right and so was the fit. 3 years $15+mil not to bad for a guy who was begging teams for a job a year ago.
