This is how I read that- The GM had talks with teams about a possible trade. This is the GM's job on every other team. The GM then consulted with his coach before making a trade. The trade was then made. The HC led his team in the day to day preparation of getting ready for the season. The GM looked at the overall team structure and direction of the team now and in the future. Once the GM had an offer in place he thought was a good one the GM brought the offer to the HC and they BOTH decided to make the trade. This is how successful operations are designed to function effectively. The article was written to show how aligned the HC and GM are. It also shows respect by the GM for the job the HC has to do. The GM did not want to add to the HC already demanding responsibilities and areas of consideration. This is not what we have witnessed recently or have been told has occurred.

Jeesh. Poor guy was coming home from visiting his wives grave at the cemetery. Nothing good from this story.

Watkins and Zay Jones combine numbers
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WR is a very difficult position to come right In and put up big numbers. I like the numbers but I am expecting an up and down year from Zay. It's par for the course w rookies. DB's in the NFL are stronger and faster and Zay has to develop chemistry with TT. I do like the fact the no WR is a premadona on the staff now. They will all be working and not complaining(Robert I talking about you). -

No matter how many times I see these they always get me. Glad that young man got to forget about everything and have a great day with the Bills. -
Rams' fan reaction to Sammy trade

Did I miss something? The Fischer lost his job because he didn't want to play the rookie QB. The rookie QB looked about as good as EJ looked. I am a UGA fan so I can attest that Gurley is the real deal. Seems to me Watkins is going to a sunnier Buffalo. -
Good call

Welcome Aboard Jordan Matthews!

Welcome to the B-LO Jordan. I hope you have a long productive career with the Bills and become this generations Andre Reed! -
Are you going to sing the same tune if...

I see this so often these days. The OP glosses over the main point of why something occurred. Sammy was traded because the Bills didn't feel comfortable giving a $80 million dollar deal to a guy who can't consistently stay healthy. End of story. If we are going to play 'what if's'... What if the Bills instead of the Pats had hired Belichik and drafted Brady and Gronk and etc etc... My biggest issue with Sammy is I don't think he has either the same threshold for pain or desire for the game as someone like Julio Jones has. -
Sammy Darby Trade grades
atlbillsfan1975 replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Zay Jones could prove to be that deep threat. Gaines could rebound and look like Josh Norman from 2015. Matthews could catch 70 balls for 1200 yards and 10 TD. Not far off from 2 of his three seasons. Sammy could hurt his foot Again and never put together a solid career( I don't want this for him). Darby could regress or play at the same level as last year. The draft picks the Bills get could turn into pro bowlers and maybe help the Bills get the Franchise quarterback they need. Let's find out in 2 years. -
Am i missing something on why people are not liking this trade? The Bills needed a WR. Matthews has pretty much identical numbers as Watkins since coming into the league(avg wise). Matthews has been more durable. Matthews is a big body receiver who might do well in this offense. McDermott believes he can do more with less when it comes to CB's. McDermott's system i believe is not so CB driven as Rex's was. Bills get a third rounder back. These days starters or solid contributors are coming out of the third round a lot. Matthews is playing for his next deal, thus motivated. McD and Beane want to build their team. I like it.

Guys, Sammy was fast and had good hands. We always would see flashes of what we hoped would be the future. Sammy could not stay healthy. Maybe now he can, i do not know. I like this approach. Beane has surely had some preliminary talks with Sammy's agent, and concluded that a deal was not likely. I like the decisive approach taken.

The signing does help as insurance. I think your numbers are a little high 45 catches 300-400 yards and hopefully 5 TD's. I just don't see Boldin being a YAC guy right now, and I also don't see him being a deep seem route runner. Boldin will need to find spots in zone coverage where he can post up for Tyrod. Let's hope he gets 6 yards on third down with 5 yards to go a lot of times! This will be his value.

Let's hope this isn't Greggo II.

I think the OP is looking a similarities from 20,000 feet. Once you drill down and look at the men themselves you see differences. There is also a difference between structure and discipline. Players actually embrace structure from someone who is organized. -
Combo of two things for me. First for some reason the Bills more times than not have Tannehill's number. I'm not saying Cutler is awesome, I am saying Cutler has ability that Tannehill doesn't . And Eball as you know the Bills have a long storied history of helping opponents look good. Cutler will probably end up staying retired he displayed marginal passion for the game. If he comes back and plays w passion that concerns me.

Good call. Largent wasn't even drafted. Largent was the original 7/11.
-
Cutler has the talent just has not displayed the ability to consistently produce. It has been speculated that Cutlers lack of desire leads to his downfall. This scares me a little if he went to Miami. If Cutler decided to focus and become a good team mate and leader the Dolphins could be really scary. Miami is much like the Bills and a lot of other teams for that matter, good QB play away from being a great team.

Would you say R. Wilson for the Seabirds or R. Sherman?

they practice to get better. Give guys some time. I mean honestly how many of you changed jobs, maybe in the same field of work? Did you show up on day 1 being the best employee in the office ? Knowing everything there was to know about that office? The rookies are learning . Some will pan out and get better. Let's see if Dawkins is one of those.
