For those of you who gave up on EJ.....
John in Jax replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For whatever reason, the Jets play hot and cold week to week. They have gone W/L/W/L/W/L etc. all year long. They beat the Patriots then came back the very next week and lost by FORTY to the Bengals. Then they came back the week after taking that 40 point beatdown to win vs. Saints. Sssssoooo, this was their week for a loss. Look it up...tis true. LOL -
I really enjoyed the win, and it was fun to be a Bills fan! Hoorah! But OTOH, I'm a realist, and I came here to say that the Jets have been an enigma this season, so you have to consider that. They've gone win/loss/win/loss/win/loss etc all year. They beat the Patriots then came back to get blown out by the Bengals the next week (lost by FORTY point), then they come back the next week to beat the Saints! Again, I'm happy as hell for the "going away" win today, but obviously if the Bills could play like this every week, they'd be 11-0. LOL

HORRIBLE spot. Looked at least a FULL yard short. Seemed pretty obvious, as even the color guy said as much. ETA: For whatever reason, the Colts aren't nearly as impressive now, as they were earlier in the year. This Titans team was beat by the JAGS just 4 days ago.

Guess Indy isn't who we thought they were. LOL

Giving EJ that leeway sounds like a problem in and of itself. Seems to me, and to everybody else who actually watches him play, he's not experienced and/or not qualified enough to be making those decisions....sad, but true.

Getting in before the thread is locked. Dear EJ, You're not a child anymore. You're getting paid MILLIONS of $$$, and you were a 1st round pick, so of course a LOT is expected of you. Yes, by all means, all Bills fans want you to be the next "franchise" QB. But, if you don't turn it around very quickly, and at least show us some marked improvement very soon, we will be calling for your head. Step up, perform accordingly, or get treated the same way as any other pretender to the QB position. This is reality. Good Luck!

I still believe in EJ Manuel

Wow, I'm not sure whether to applaud the optimism or cry over the false hope. -

So what does everybody think about Incognito's interview today on Fox? I thought he came across well, and a lot better than I would have thought. Guess he's not the "racist" monster everybody is making him out to be. -

Every single ESPN expert is picking PIT

Three GREAT posts above! I wholeheartedly agree. But OTOH, there are tons of folks out in the world, and even in here, who think that this stuff is real complicated, and we need all these "experts" to tell us what's happening. These folks have virtually the same viewpoint about NFL coaching. My take is that it ain't brain surgery out there, and if you closely watch/follow the game for a few years, and you're reasonably intelligent, you will know as much as they know. And if you closely watch/follow the game for 20+ years, you probably will know MORE than they know. As for the weekly "picks", no one can truly be called an "expert", the games are too unpredictable......."On any given Sunday." If there were true any "experts", they'd move to Vegas, and get rich by working from Sept. through the end of Jan. Then for the rest of the year they'd just hang out and spend their millions. So the picks are just more "entertainment" to fill hours of pre-game "analysis." -

MY point was that Whitlock is saying "these black guys should think and act like me." Again, who the He!! is he to tell other black guys...or other any color people...how to think & act? Sure, he has an OPINION about it, just like millions of other folks WHO ARE NOT NFL LINEMEN, but it stinks & reeks of "this is how I think & act, so that is how you should think & act.....I know best and you don't!" And even his notion that it is "sad & self-destructive" is pure garbage. I DON'T seem to recall there being a big problem with "bullying" in NFL locker rooms, or with NFL linemen ruining their lives because they have "hazing" episodes. In fact, this incident with RI & JM is about as rare as a union worker staying awake for his full shift. LOL -

LOL....Love this post. The Whitlock "article"...eerrrr, I mean OPINION piece is garbage. Comparing the Fins locker room to a prison yard? Yeah, no sensationalism there. And then Whitlock has the audacity to mock & belittle other blacks (Dolphins) who are sticking up for Incognito. He (Whitlock) says that they're "stupid" and have "self-hatred." Yeah, right. Who the He!! is Whitlock to tell us WHY those teammates are backing RI, and not Martin!? Does Whitlock have some psychology/psychiatry degrees I don't know about!? And even if he did, aren't people FREE to do what they want? Incognito used the "N" word on black guys he works with, and THEY didn't think it was wrong or racist. An NFL locker room is very unique and very unlike your "normal" work setting. Of course, the violence on the field and the desire to win is also very unique. I've always thought Whitlock was just another useless "expert"/gasbag, who probably initially got to his position because of "affirmative action", and this drivel just proves it once again. -
Was the strip/fumble/pickup and run for TD Tuel's fault?

I didn't say we should believe them, I just said that THEY wanted to get their truth out there. It's like in that one episode of Seinfeld dealing with George wearing a rug....Jerry asks George if he told his blind date the truth that he was wearing a rug, and George replied, "I told her the truth as I see it." LOL I would assume that pro football locker rooms are akin to police precincts.....you DON'T rat out each other, no matter what! LOL So maybe these players are lying.....we shall see. -

Well, the fact of the matter is that right now, there's a bunch of Dolphins who think that this matter has been blown way out of proportion, and they want to get THEIR truth out there. As is with most everything nowadays, the media jumps all over an issue and spews out whatever THEY decide. We've seen it time & time again (not talking just about sports stories here), where the media "spins" an issue however THEY want to. I applaud the player's efforts to tell the "other side." All the indignant "experts" on ESPN sort of look like fools right now, because just like the mainstream media always does, THEY had only a FEW facts about the situation, yet they went full throttle into "he's guilty, he's a racist, throw him out forever." -

I just nearly spit my late afternoon beer all over my keyboard! LOL I guess the Chiefs were who we thought they were. That's why, in the prediction thread, I said Chiefs by 10. -
This why I like coming to TSW.....it's like taking a trip with Alice in Wonderland. LOL

LOL...there certainly is a culture of losing. You can easily see it HERE in these forums, such as when people predict/EXPECT the Bills to have turnovers and commit key mistakes. When those mistakes happen, many people just say, "we knew that was coming." And I have no doubt that this same defeatist attitude is in place for many of the Bills players. In reality, they would be even more likely than the fans to have this attitude because they get paid whether they win or lose. Do you find it odd how many times after a Bills' loss, players are laughing it up/joking around down on the field after the game. IOW, they don't seem to take a loss very hard....they really don't care too much. And one more thing, teams have actually WON the Super Bowl with less than pro-bowl QBs....does Trent Dilfer ring a bell? How about Jeff Hostetler?
-
Pretty much agree with the OP. The new regime has not shown me anything to make me think that the culture of losing is gone from the organization. Right now, it's still the same old Bills. And it is very hard to watch....it's also very frustrating and disappointing. The turnovers, the penalties, the drops, the unsuccessful play calling, the bad throws, the getting screwed by the refs, the horrible clock management, the bad special teams play, etc., etc....they never seem to end.

This x1000. Tony Dungy just said the same thing on NBC's "Football in America" pre-game show. The idiot Chief who got the pick-6 made a bonehead stumble at the LOS and left his man (Stevie) wide open, and then wound up getting a gift from Tuel.

The Chiefs Didn't Win Bills Gave IT To Them
John in Jax replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sometimes the buffonery isn't obvious til you slow it down & watch it closely. My personal opinion is that a LOT of these guys in the NFL just aren't that smart, and they make stupid plays because they're just not smart enough to think on their feet. Am just now rewatching the game on my DVR...specifically, just watching late in the 2nd qtr when the Bills had 1st & Goal at the 5 with about 3 mins. left til halftime. OK so, first play is an illegal motion ON THE CENTER...ugh, that hurt. Then it's 1st & goal at the 15. 1st down - Pass to Stevie crossing over the middle TWO YARDS from the line of scrimmage, 3 yard gain. The better choice (for Tuel) would have been Fred J. in the left flat. Also, Tuel had plenty of time, and seemed to get rid of it too quickly. 2nd down - Here's where the stupidity comes into play. The Bills lineup 1 wide left, TE on right side, as well as 2 more WRs wide right. KC rushes four, and the Bills right tackle inexplicably goes left to help the guard block a D lineman and totally allows the guy RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM to go at Tuel unabated. Tuel just has to throw it away quickly. WHY that right tackle didn't just block the guy in front of him is a mystery. Wonder how that guy feels when they sit & watch the film? 3rd & Goal from the 8. Tuel calls TO to regroup, then they come back with the pass to Woods deep in the middle endzone. The pass was right there on the money, and depending on how you look at things, it was either a great defensive play or Pass Interference. I have seen PI called on that exact type of contact virtually every NFL game I watch. Re the Goodwin catch mentioned in the OP: the ball was actually swatted away by a Chief AFTER he hit the ground, maintained possession, and rolled over. Should have been called a catch.
