Did the Seahawks spy on the Broncos?
John in Jax replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thinking along these same lines, I'm wondering why Seattles' defense seemed to be so much better than anything I'v seen all year? I mean, the physical talent level between teams isn't THAT different, is it? Are they just "smarter" at guessing & covering routes? Sure, some teams DO indeed have less talent....take for example Denver's tackling efforts during the SB, LOL....but I'm talking about the top defenses. Shouldn't they be pretty close to what Seattle has been able to do? I watched a lot of games last year, and I rarely saw any defense even come close to that level of dominance, AND that was against the very best offense too. -
Just took the 15 mins. to watch the video....was very interesting. There's only 2 conclusions that can be proffered. That game was either 1) Fixed by the Refs, or 2) the Refs are incredibly incompetent. The fumble/takeaway at the goal line was the biggest one, in my mind. It's not like he was in a scrum, and you couldn't see what happened. It was as plain as can be, with a Side Judge looking right at it, yet it wasn't called.

Got a question here....in the Stadium they had two huge tv screens hanging around the bowl (might have even been 4), but it looked like those screens would have surely blocked out the view from some fans. Did they, or were those seats just not sold, or maybe security personnel sat behind those screens? Just curious....

Denver by 10....too much offense. 31-21.

OK, I've often wondered about the subjective judging of how they determine if a wing is "fully" eaten. It just seems impossible to me that someone.....anyone....can eat 12 wings a minute, FOR 30 MINUTES, let alone a 125 lb. woman! LOL How much meat/skin/breading can be left on a wing, and it's still considered "eaten?" Maybe someone who's been in a wing eating contest can help me out here? Please? LOL

Saw it...saw both Polian & Kelly. Polian specifically referenced the game in Pasadena, said they changed hotels on Friday night, and that was a mistake. He didn't really give any specific things they did in the other games though. And re this point about "relaxing" and "just play your game": I've caught just a bit of ex-athletes & coaches this week, all they all say "relax and try to just play it like another game." Then a couple of breaths later, they readily acknowledge that since it's the SB, it's a LOT different than any other game! LOL Kelly didn't really get a lot of time, and didn't seem to say much. The bit about FedExing all the stuff from their "lucky charm" restaurant was indeed weird. I think he said it was from a TGIFriday's, and the ship location was for the game in Minneapolis.

Super Bowl tickets still available
John in Jax replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously, there's only so many suites available. -
Was going to start a new thread, but I think my content will fit well here. For YEARS now, I think the only people who pay any attention to all the SB pre-game hype & coverage are fans of the 2 teams involved, and gamblers. LOL If you're not in one of the latter groups, the coverage truly is nauseating. Yeah, of course I'll watch the game, but the overload of pre-game hype is just really unnecessary.

Nice work, but I would disagree that a victory of more than 8 points is always "decisive." Seems like a lot of times a game is very close at the end, and then the team that is ahead gets a pick 6, or a late TD off a turnover, or just a late running TD when the defense is stuffing the line, and a RB breaks through and takes it the distance (New England comes to mind).

Yeah, wonder if he'll be his Minister of Kwan now. LOL -
Just watched the video linked in the OP. Heartbreaking to know that fine young man is dead. This world can suck sometimes, as there is no such as fairness.

A guy holding up a LARGE bag of popcorn. Down here in FL, if you toss that in someone's face in a dark movie theatre, it just might get you shot. LOL -

Umm, yeah. I think we all know the reason for Andrews' bewilderment. She didn't get to where she is today by toiling for years in lower markets in the sports journalism career field, gaining experience, then moving up the ranks. LOL -

Good post. Agree 100%. It was also very interesting to see Russell Wilson asking Terry Bradshaw for advice on how to win the Super Bowl. -

OK, just watched it. He appears to be outside the norm, with all of the extra film study he does, but I don't really know that for sure....IOW, I don't know how many other DBs/Safeties in the NFL study film like he does. What's funny is in the first minute of the piece, he utters some words which I have on MY resume, pertaining to me in my career field....those words are "meticulous" and "attention to detail." LOL But of course, you still have to have the SIZE, strength, & speed, to do what he does; I DON'T have any of those. Again, millions of males who just watch football games (and the various highlight/analysis shows) closely every week could know exactly what he knows about certain tendencies of QBs, receivers, etc. I get that he's a great player, and like I said, he appears to go above and beyond to be good at his craft...that's great. But even HE AGREES WITH ME in that he said in the piece that some guys just get by, or play the game, on their athleticism ALONE. Another funny thing was when they showed from scenes during training camp, when he was mic'ed up, and he was trying to teach some teammates a thing or two....it was pretty obvious that HIS knowledge of what was going on was WAY above those other guys, as the other guys didn't seem to even know what he was talking about! Finally, regarding the user in here who said he's 6'3" & 225: I am curious if he started playing organized football when he was little (around age 10, like I did), then continued on in middle school, and then HS? And was he 6'3" & 225 in HS? And in HS, did he hit the weight room, to tone up and get strong? Did he have a DESIRE to play football at a higher level (college & beyond)? My point is that size ALONE will normally not bring you success in any sport, but it IS a requirement for many sports. An example is if you're 6'5" and weigh 395 lbs., and you're not fat, but you are muscular, you'd have a real good head start on being a defensive lineman then 99% of the people out in public. -

Still LMAO. The OVERRIDING factors are size, speed, strength, & agility, with SIZE being the MOST IMPORTANT of those four; there's really no logical argument against that. QBs who come out of HS with absolutely great, record breaking careers (in HS) get passed over by major colleges 99% of the time, because they are "too small." I know this firsthand, as it happened to a relative of mine. There are millions and millions of people who would be able to develop the "football smarts" and "instincts" that you mention (for most positions). Those are learned with just a little bit of experience. Virtually all males who start playing football from an early age develop those skills, but they don't develop the size and strength needed to play at the top levels. Now, I will say that there are certain positions in football that require more practice and more "work" than others, and those are pretty obvious (QBs, Kickers, receivers who need to catch the football). Pretty much everyone else is successful because of their size or speed or strength or agility or some combination of those. DBs and Safeties definitely fall into the latter category. -

I'm LMAO too....at you.....because you did NOTHING to refute what I said. I guess you think that if you really want to play in the NFL, and you "work" really hard, you'll get there! I really wanted to play left tackle in the NFL, but even though I'm only 5'9' and 175, I guess I just didn't put in enough "work." LOL -

John in Jax replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, there's an awful lot of "work" and practice involved with running with, and staying as close as you can, to another guy running down the field. And it really takes a lot of deep thinking to determine when to turn your head back and look for the ball. *Rolls Eyes* Or maybe, just like a lot of positions In the NFL, the overriding factor is purely physical. The average size guy in this country is 5'9".....how many 5'9" guys are there in the NFL? -
Belichick: Welker tried to 'take out' Talib
John in Jax replied to angryfan62's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saw Bellicheat live this morning when he made this idiotic claim. So Welker, who has missed some games this year, and who was wearing a "Kelso-like" helmet, would risk hurting himself.....risk putting himself out of the game.....for a short over the middle pass in the 1st Qtr?! Uh huh, rrrriiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhttttt! Bellicheat may be showing early signs of Alzheimer's. -
