NFC Playoff: Seattle at Carolina
John in Jax replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally, they have the top turf experts in the world work the fields to ensure it's in top shape before a big game like this. WTF, NFL? Also, on 1st play: horsecollar tackle. -
NFC Playoff: Packers at Cardinals
John in Jax replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm old. LOL I couldn't even stay up to watch the end. I just watched the highlights a minute ago, and now I'm going to go watch the 4th quarter since I recorded it on my DVR. That Hail Mary by GB though.....WTF was Arizona doing? The defense on that play was horrendous. Only 2 guys back there? ETA: Re the Hail Mary. OK, I see now. Arizona had the blitz on. Idiots. Rodgers is just sick. And by sick, I mean absolutely amazing. -

The Chiefs 10-game win streak was way overrated. Did they even beat any good teams during that streak? -
Prior to just now, I have never heard anyone call Katie Couric "hot." Never. Lol

I also agree with the above. Watson, IMHO, was just absolutely amazing in that game. -

Great game! Clemson just made too many mistakes to win though. And if they didn't have their QB (Deshaun..sp?), they probably would have lost by about 30. But they really need to think about starting this game earlier (East coast should rule!....LOL). The game ended at 12:18am.....that is ridiculous. ETA: Oh, and like I said in the Shout Box last night, I had no idea who Ciara was/is, but I thoroughly enjoyed eyeballing her rack, and all these do-gooders are probably just jealous! ;-) -

Yeah, why they're not making the live action the largest PIP screen is pretty dumb. Instead, they're making the guys siting around the table the largest "window" on the screen. -

Just checked out the Film Room on ESPN2...that looks pretty intriguing...I just may watch the whole game there...we shall see. -
You've already been proven wrong on this point, as a court has decided that they were essentially working for the Bills, and that is why the lawsuit is being allowed to move forward.

As a person who works in the safety career field, and is very familiar with OSHA rules, as well as most DOL rules/laws, came here to say something like this, but you beat me to it. Thanks for posting up. As for the Jills, I hope they take the Bills to the cleaners. For as much money as the Bills (and the NFL) bring in, there is absolutely no reason for them to treat these women like 3rd world slave laborers.....and if you've read into the details of this case.....that's pretty much how they were treated.

AFC Wildcard game 2: Steelers at Bengals

@dave mcbride: There's a misunderstanding here. I'm NOT talking about the Burfict hit in my posts above, I'm talking about a hit earlier in the game....I thought that was pretty clear. You & I are on the same page re Burfict. -

Wut? Are you for real, or are you just trolling? LOL It's pro football, a violent game, with many jaw-dropping, violent collisions. When a receiver is coming across the middle to make a catch, the goal STILL is to hit the guy at the perfect time (as soon as he touches the ball) and cause him to drop the ball and/or not make the catch. In the old days, the DBs could pretty much do whatever they wanted, including maiming a guy for life (Jack "The Assasin" Tatum comes to mind), going to the head, throwing a forearm, etc. BUT NOWADAYS, under the new "safety conscious" rules of the NFL, many restrictions have been put in place, ostensibly to protect the players, but it also surely makes the job harder for the defensive secondary. In this case, the Cincy DB did exactly what he needed to do, and he followed the new rules to the letter....he hit with his shoulder first & he did not hit the WR's head...yet I guess because it happened so fast, the zebras BLEW the call. Might I ask if you think what he did was a PF, how could he (the Cincy DB who made the hit) have defended the play any differently? Should he have just stopped & waited until the Steeler caught the ball, waited for him to take a few steps, then attempt a tackle!? How about maybe he should have gone real low, for his knees, and possibly end the Steeler's career that way!? I can't even believe I'm sitting here explaining this. Did you just start watching NFL football last year? -

John in Jax replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a great article. The only thing he left out was when the Cincy DB was flagged for hitting a defenseless Steelers receiver because it looked really bad, but the reality was that it was a very clean, shoulder-leading, non helmet-to-helmet hit. -
NFC wildcard game 2: Green Bay at Washington
John in Jax replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really, because he made an even LONGER kick earlier in the game with the laces in the exact same position (facing him). And if you watch kicks closely, the ball is ALWAYS tilted slightly, for every kicker. -

Looking like all 4 road teams are going to win. Yeah, I know it's early in this one, but I got a good feeling about Rogers getting hot (er). Also, no way should the Vikings have lost....CHOKE by the kicker. -

And y'all thought yesterday's Texans/Chiefs game was a snoozefest! Lol This thing could very easily end with No TDs being scored. -

Just curious, I'm at work this morning, and not able to see ESPN, but are they now reporting that the Shazier hit was totally illegal (because last night, most of their coverage, along with the dolts calling the game, and even that NFL Ref sycophant Mike Carey, were not pointing this out)? -

The flag actually should have been thrown on Porter, for being where he shouldn't have been, and "taunting" the Bungle players. But I guess there's a limit of one PF per game, per coaching staff. LOL -
There needs to be a new NFL rule
John in Jax replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I forgot about this one from earlier in the game. But you are correct...THAT was a gift to the Steelers, and another INCORRECT call. Loka did EVERYTHING right on that hit...he used his shoulder to make contact, and he bent over a bit to purposefully NOT go for Wheaton's head....yet he still got flagged. -

OMG. NO, the Shazier hit was NOT a legal hit. Go read post #483, and several posts after that too. -

John in Jax replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you sure about that? If it's true, then they should change that too. They are currently in the mode of "we want to get it right", so I would think if they're doing a review, and see a Personal Foul, it should be called. -

John in Jax replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There already is a rule, implemented in Sept. 2013. The link is posted up in the main game thread (Post #483). Leading with the crown (other than on a running play within the tackles, near the line) is illegal, and is a PF. You don't even have to go helmet-to-helmet either, and that's to protect the player from himself. How they missed this is a head scratcher. And then how they missed it AGAIN while doing the challenge review (for the fumble call), is astounding. -

John in Jax replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huh? Are you reading all the posts in this thread? Go back and look at post #483. There is a CLEAR NFL rule that says leading with the crown of your helmet to make a tackle is a PF. And it doesn't even have to be a "helmet-to-helmet" hit. The more you know. -

Post #483 above makes it crystal clear that Shazier should have been flagged for a PF. Unless the NFL has changed the rule cited in that post (which was implemented in Sept. 2013), then there really is NO question about it. In fact, reading that rule, the player does NOT even have to go "helmet-to-helmet", and that's to protect the player from himself. The bigger question is how 6 officials blew the call, and then doubly blew it after the challenge by Tomlin (for the fumble).....at that point, they should have for sure called the PF, marked off the penalty, and given the Bungles back the ball.
