I was astonished at how good his natural pocket presence was his rookie year after expecting the worst from a supposed raw prospect. The difference now is that he looks to pass instead of run as the first option when the pocket collapses.
He is actually dynamic as a receiver as far as running backs go but not very good as a runner (indecisive and easy to tackle and fumbles a lot) His receiving ability probably kept him on the roster, but due to his deficiencies as a runner it’s difficult to get him on the field.
As gross as the fake crowd noise is it is slightly better than silence which is what the NHL has come up with (with break music added in). I agree it would be simple to add some kind of online Home team fan control of the fake crowd to give it some legitimacy.
There was obviously a great deal of trust between Roberts and the Bills for them to go through the waive and re-sign. Still I can’t believe they exposed him, and thankful no one parked the Brinks truck on his driveway which was certainly possible.
When you hear “raw prospect” QB one thing you expect is that they will have horrible pocket presence. If you can’t learn pocket awareness you will not make it in the NFL. I was shocked his rookie year at how good Josh was for a supposed raw talent at sensing when the pocket is going to break down. He continues to grow in that important skill, now he spots the open man instead of running. It’s one of the reasons he is on the fast track to being among the league’s best.
I agree that the jury is still out on Daboll, though it’s fair to say that when Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones are your 1 and 2, you have been given little to work with. I actually think Allen has carried Daboll to this point.
I may be the only one but I enjoy preseason football, particularly the aspect of no names doing whatever they can to make a roster. It was a great warmup to real football. I also liked the Pro Bowl a week after the Super Bowl as a weaning mechanism.
I agree that Diggs Brown are an attempted emulation of Hill Watkins. Pair of short-statured deep threat wideouts who can easily beat single coverage working with rocket arm QB.
I think the NBA got it right. Get some kind of virtual fans there but don’t pretend you are something you are not. Fanless NHL puts me to sleep instantly.
The Colts have 54 man roster with Chad. They clearly like him as an insurance policy but he’s so toxic there is no incentive to use up the roster spot.
