Would you watch a "bronze medal" game?
Charles Romes replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives

Granted brad smith LOOKS slow. That's why it looks wierd when he beats nfl defenses to the edge every single time on third and medium.

No one in this team even has good hands. Chandler may have the best and his are average. This is likely the most drop prone team in the league. Look at Haggans drop today. We don't even consider that a drop because by the standard that has been set it was an impossible catch.

NFLPA agree to new IR rule and Trade deadline
Charles Romes replied to Smiley Dear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The savvy vet came off the sideline cold and was our best corner for the few games he played last year. You bet he would be signed even for a few games of productivity by a playoff team with a corner injury or two. In particular Perry Fewell's D. -

Did the Bills really reach for T.J. Graham?
Charles Romes replied to Damond Talbot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Has anyone pointed out in this thread that in 2007 at this time of the year, the Bills looked like geniuses for drafting a relatively unheralded QB for great value in the third round who lit it up in preseason (completing 75.4 % of passes, 99.9 rating)? -
The problem with the building the lines up first model is that it's hard to suck enough to draft a franchise qb.

Did the Bills really reach for T.J. Graham?
Charles Romes replied to Damond Talbot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilson threw a lot of balls up for grabs in the game I saw and it's not clear he can make all the throws. Throws a lot of floaters into zone coverage. Could be a matter of tone before GE had a 4 pick performance. Graham has looked ever bit of a 3rd round pick in terms of polish. I gave been pleasantly surprised. -
Have you adjusted your expectations based on preseason?
Charles Romes replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This offseason is not nearly as bad as 09 when we dealt our starting LT and then fired our OC a week before the season started - that worked out okay, we put together a strong of road wins mid year to get into the playoff race and ended up with six big wins (so my expectations have become somewhat deflated). -
Vince Young Cut By Buffalo Bills
Charles Romes replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is it with competent often pro bowl QBs "hitting the wall" in the current NFL seemingly overnight with apparent years of shelf life left. Culpepper, Delhome, Mcnabb, Garrard, Young. In the old NFL it would take many years of steady decline for a vet signal caller to be rendered useless. -
Lankster looked good in preseason a few years ago and took up a roster spot for 2 or 3 years.

Roosevelt vs Martin (vs Easley)
Charles Romes replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see Roosevelt as the least likely to be signed by any other team. He's small and not fast. His major value to the Bills is that he has been in the system for years. He does not bring that value to any other team. The Pats like small guys but they are always fast. Roosevelt is also fairly redundant to Jones who is also smallish (but not as small) and is also not fast. Roosevelt essentially expands the Bills roster to 54 players since he is un-signable by any other GM. He can be (and has been over and over) exposed to free agency whenever convenient for the Bills. Easley and Aiken with substantial upsides as big physical targets are much more likely to be signed by other teams. -
Franchise QB History
Charles Romes replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unitus was the first franchise qb. His performance from the late 50s for more than a decade was remarkable. In some of those years his stats would have put him in the pro bowl in the receiver coddled era. Ha had a plus Td to interception ratio when his receivers were being clocked with the ball in the air. -
Um, the Giants.

John Potter - Why a kick-off specialist makes sense
Charles Romes replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sometimes its only a matter of time (and having the opportunity to do nothing but practice kicking for 10 hours a day) for a kicker to develop into an NFL ready FG kicker. Potter may not be ready to take over FG kicking right now. But another possible plus to keeping him is that we may be developing the team's FG kicker for the next decade. -

Nothing kills the momentum of having scored like a long return. Potter helps keep the momentum after a score. He also helps reduce injuries. -
My longshot Pick to make the Roster
Charles Romes replied to Trader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Potter makes it ahead of Ruvell Martin. Yes I know they play different positions. Martin made it as a special teamer last year. Not needed this year. Potter has kicked Martin off the team. -
I purchased the preseason game viewing package from NFL.com. I have to say its nice to buy software from a powerhouse like the NFL. Everything worked without any glitches. I think it cost me 20 bucks for all the games. I made my purchase like 5 minutes before kickoff when there had to be a million simultaneous hits on the server. Somehow my order was processed instantly and I was watching the feed within minutes.

Just remember that Trent Edwards and Spiller tore it up in preseason two years ago. If I remember, Fitz and the O could do nothing last year in preseason and started great. I look at the preseason as an opportunity for individuals to make plays. Unfortunately we do not have anyone to chuck it up to any one of our ten 6.2 230 receivers so that that they could distinguish themselves from one another.

How did Tank Carder look?
