  1. The "TO destroys QB's/teams/the ozone layer" lines are hackneyed at best at this point. Garcia is a CFL refugee who was made by Rice and TO and who has done little since leaving the 49'ers, a team which has sucked since TO left them. I guess you could (weakly) argue that TO "destroyed" that team so badly, that the effects are still felt to this day. As for the Eagles, they've done alright without him, although they haven't had a season like their 2004 season with him, and McNabb just signed an extension. And the Cowboys are being "destroyed" by Jerruh more than anything TO could do to them.
  2. While I agree that Cutler has a better arm and that Trent needs to prove himself, how you can claim that the Bills have "as good if not a better" running game as the Broncos is inexplicable. Not to mention the difference in quality of OC's. And the Bears don't even have close to what the Bills have offensively this year.
  3. Cutler is in for a rude awakening in Chicago. His record is 17-20 (should be 16-21, if not for Ed Hochuli's monumental screw-up last season) as a starter, hasn't taken his team to the playoffs, and with Shanahan as his OC and the talent around him last year, he had 27 TD's (2 rushing) but committed 20 turnovers (including 2 lost fumbles). In Chicago, his only decent receiving options will be Greg Olsen and Matt Forte.
  4. ESPN said that he could be back playing before the season is over? As in, the Commish won't suspend him? That would be unbelievable.
  5. Hull was the man, and probably should be in the HOF.
  6. Yeah, but who better than a guy who scored a 47 (out of 50) on the Wonderlic?
  7. Ashlee Palmer (OLB) is mine. And Hennessey got injured, and not minorly, from what I heard.
  8. Apparently his grandparents live in Pittsford (home of the Bills' training camp) and he knows the region well. He said he learned to ice skate at Manhattan Square Park. Nice to learn of players having local/regional ties.
  9. Saw this coming from a mile (high) away! And no way McDaniels trades him to the Jets.
  10. No need to get rid of Youboty or Florence at this time. They'll go into the season with 5 CB's, being McGee, McKelvin, Corner, Youboty, and Florence. They'll probably put Lankster on the PS.
  11. The Eagles ultimately gave up their 28th overall and a 4th rounder. The Cards could have offered the 31st and and a 3rd rounder. And they could have structured the contract to make the cap hit small this year.
  12. I'd take Jimbo in a dome with the rules that have pussifed the QB position and favored offenses.
  13. The joy has returned!
  14. Peters was available in trade.
  15. And what was with the Japanese dude screaming "Six flags. More flags, more fun?"
  16. Your insane love of Peters has clouded your ability to think clearly Thurm. And I was once like you, except I saw the lack of interest, much less offers, for Peters once the Bills traded him, and realized that maybe he's not all that. You're stuck on things like "there WAS a 3rd team, so you're completely wrong!" when the point is that AT BEST 3 teams showed interest in Peters, and the team that got him got him for just the 5th-to-last pick in the 1st round, a late 4th rounder, and a 6th rounder next year. Real "interest" would have been getting what Denver got for Cutler. But you don't want to admit it. Fine, we'll agree to disagree. Just like we'll do on the Bills' last contract offer.
  17. He's the #1 DE. Had he played in a 4-3 his entire career, he'd probably have had 250 sacks at least. I just wish the Bills had had a true NT, otherwise they'd have won at least a SB.
  18. They also needed to get the right players in the right positions, versus keeping bad players in the same positions.
  19. Actually going to OTA's, minicamp, and training camp, will help a lot.
  20. The Wings were off the whole game. I thought that being the most Stanley Cup tested team around would have made this a laugher, like game 5 was. But something was off.
  21. The owners opting-out had nothing to do with the economy, although that certainly hasn't helped. They have been looking to opt-out of the CBA from almost the beginning, but they had to wait two years before they could do it. And a lockout 2 years ago (which probably wouldn't have happened since the players had no incentive to do it) during a better economy and before giving the players a huge raise (to the owners' detriment, which is a mistake in ANY economy), would have been a lot better than one now. The NFLPA said they won't accept a pay cut and a cap. And that means lockout. And if there is a lockout, so much for labor peace and "the best labor situation in sports." These guys have been making money hand over fist for over a decade, thanks to TV revenue and unshared revenue like luxury boxes, PSL's, club seats, advertising, naming rights, etc, as well as the highest ticket prices in the NFL. Maybe Snyder hasn't fully paid-off his stadium, but Kraft had such a minimal investment in his, he surely has. LOL! Maybe he should have forced Erie County to build him a new stadium 10 years ago, like almost every owner has done, instead of asking for stadium improvements, which were much more palatable. And maybe he should plan on dying next year, when there's (currently) no estate tax. Hell if he'd sold 10 years ago, the team would no longer be in Buffalo. Yes, the owners realized too late that the CBA was junk. But hey, labor peace! I never said the "majority" of owners are old guard. But how much do you think Bud Adams has maximized his profitability? He moved his team and got a new stadium built. Same goes for Art Modell. What about Al Davis? The Browns? Irsays? Hunts? Maras? McCaskeys? Fords? Bidwells? Frontiere? They paid little for their teams and haven't spent a single dime on their stadiums either, many of them getting new stadiums paid-for by taxpayer money, which are used to jack-up prices even further. Yet Ralph "has maximized and continues to maximize his investment more than" any other owner and "[n]o one can dispute this?" From where do you pull such crap? A 10% raise (like prior to the 2008 season) is just $5. That's $20 more per a family of 4. Raising them $10 is a $40 increase. Raising them by $30 to even just average league prices is $120. Get the picture? And it still doesn't take into account the lack of luxury box sales. Nope, you've answered any questions I had about your grasp on things.
  22. Nobody saw the Pens winning. But the Wings looked off all game. I can only assume that the pressure got to them. And maybe the Sabres need to be the worst team in the league for several years running, so as to stock-up on players like Malkin, Crosby, and Fleury?
