Sorry krazykat, but I have NO idea what you meant and/or were trying to say. You see, I could give a rip what Jones did in college as a QB, or how highly touted he was as a WR prospect in the NFL, when he\'d never played WR in college or even high school. You see, he couldn't even have been considered as good a prospect as Mike Mamula, because Mamula at least played DE in college before wowing scouts at the Combine and tricking the Eagles into drafting him in the 1st round. The Jags took a gamble and lose-out big-time, because among other things, Jones doesn't have the skills to play WR, and doesn't have the heart or desire to excel in the pros. His situation has no similarity to Hardy's, except for his height. I'd say that "simple" is the key word here. The percentages in and of themselves mean nothing. For the Chiefs last year, the percentages were 100% with Bowe when all was said and done. Same for a bunch of other teams, depending on what you consider "succeeding" as a #2 rookie WR. Had I been here last year, I would have said that failing to address the #2 WR spot was a mistake. And it was. Price was on his last legs in 2006, although he was still the best #2 WR on the team, and then he got hurt. Reed, Parrish, an the rest are not #2 WR\'s. I\'d bet good money on Hardy getting 500 yards and 5 TD's this year. But since I doubt anyone will take my bet, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oh, the irony. Well at least most of them would know it's "they're 12" and not "their 12." -
Okay, since you allege that Jones "did more in college" than Hardy, please post Jones' WR stats at Arkansas and compare them to Hardy's stats at IU, and then you'll know what you were thinking. Or more precisely, that you weren't.
-
Well since you know so much about IU football, tell me about Hardy's O-line, QB, fellow offensive weapons, and OC? A WR relies on a lot more than just himself to "dominate." And Corner "totally made Hardy disappear" with 4 catches for 65 yards and a TD? You realize that the Hoosiers won 41-24 and that Hardy's 65 yards were almost half of the total passing yards (137) that day, while the offense rushed for 338 net yards, right?
-
What do you think the average height for an NFL CB is? I'll give you a hint: it's 5'11". That's a half-foot shorter than Hardy. And most of the taller/more physical CB's aren't as fast as the shorter ones. If you're expecting Hardy to never get off the LOS and never get open, you're going to be pleasantly surprised, or disappointed, as the case may be.

He had 2 sacks last year and 4.5 TFL's.

There will be no designation of NT because all 4 DT's are able to play 1- and 3-tech, and will switch-off so as to confuse the opposing OL. Both DT's will not be shooting the gaps. -
I'm sure his agent has been angling for a new deal for awhile and used sitting out the OTA's and the mini-camp as a warning that he's serious. It will be up to the Bills to make the next move, but not giving him a new deal would be a serious mistake.

And as a result of blowing his assignment, AKC now considers McCargo a scumbag. -

Take a look at the Tampa-2 teams. None have a guy who weighs more than 310#. The point being that Stroud is a great player, no matter what weight, and if he stays healthy, will improve the DL a lot. -
If he holdsout for half a season, he'll ruin Edwards' career as well. And he's in-line for a $5M/year pay raise whereas in 2 years, it won't be even $1M/year.

The hypocrisy continues! So Lynch shouldn't receive special treatment because he's a star athlete, but you're defending the right of bar owners to "promote the liberal use of comps for customers deemed beneficial to their business?" Are you for real? I was going to mention this before and am glad you brought it up, but WHAT exactly do you think Lynch is? Given that he's a multi-millionaire star RB for the local PROFESSIONAL football team, I'd say he's a "customer deemed beneficial to their business." That's why I LMMFAO when I heard about 2 bars tossing him out for bringing his own stuff when they could and SHOULD have been comping him and/or ignored it and THEN comped him. Because his presence attracts other people. And tossing him out means he'll trash those bars to his teammates, who are also star athletes and "customers deemed..." Idiotic. And since it's been a few days, any progress on finding people who saw Lynch drinking, much less drunk when he made his way to his car that night? Surely with all the bartenders (and obviously wait staff who also were getting ripped-off by him) hating him for bringing his own alcohol, SOMEBODY must be willing to come forward. Yet all I hear is the sounds of crickets. What does that tell you? -
He'll make a maximum of $14.4 (or $14.5 depending on which source you read) over the next 5 years with $5.7M in guaranteed money.

Let me ask you, who was the nose tackle the past 2 years for the Bills? What was his weight? How was that working out? Yeah, and who wants 4-3 technique guys...in a 4-3? -
And since he'll be the #2 WR, he won't be going against an opponent's best CB. The stuff about beating the jam is hogwash. Receivers much smaller than Hardy have learned to beat it. And again if Hardy allegedly couldn't get separation in college, how'd he catch 191 passes? The opposing DB falling down all the time?

Rookies who must report to camp on time
VOR replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having McKelvin in there and competing from the start is what you want. But if he doesn't start, it's not the end of the world. The Bills need Hardy to be a starter. Which he will. -
Just like I said. I knew I remember reading that somewhere.

Let's have a lesson in numbers, obie wan. Is 310 greater or less than 307, 306, and 286? Anyone, anyone? Oh yeah, and at his weight, Stroud sucked. -

Ah, I see. Since the last 2 years were spent rebuilding the team, and last year the team suffered a load of injuries, the Bills are destined to fail again? That's some sound reasoning. But hey, pessimism is a wonderful defense mechanism. That way you can never be disappointed, right? But what about the Fins? Their coaching staff is entirely new and their coach is a rookie head coach who was last a head coach at University of New Haven, and was most recently coaching O-lines? You DO realize that Parcells won't be coaching the team, right? And Torbor, Starks, Smiley, heck even throw in Wilford and Ricky Williams? Are you for real? And did that first season under Mangini impress you? Apparently it did. Well last year did as much to unimpress me, as well as almost everyone else. I'd call 2006 not even as good as Jauron's COTY season in 2001. By your own admission, the trade for Thomas Jones was a bust and they don't have good WR's. Their QB situation is no better than the Bills'. They're playing a 3-4, to which they're ill-suited personnel-wise, and their big-name additions to it have only played in a 4-3 (Jenkins, Pace), while losing the all-important Jonathan Vilma. But at least on ST's, they'll get Justin Miller back, and that should be good for the 6 win discrepancy between 2006 and 2007. Did I talk about Viti? No. He was a rookie UDFA from Army (wow!). The most I talked about him was that hopefully he'd make the PS, so he wouldn't have to fulfill his military commitment and have to fight in the latter-day Vietnam. And as I said in the other thread, I believe the Bills will use a FB mostly on short-yardage/goal-line situations, for both the run AND pass. Not every down. I look at teams in their entirety. And I'm not perfect and neither are you. But no one is, not even the so-called "experts." I see nothing objectively that says the Fins and Jets improved more than the Bills did. Not that you're one to talk of objectivity. If the Bills sweep those teams again, yet it will be obvious that they're a better team than them. What else do you fancy it will mean? You realize that I responded to you WRT "the Fins have improved more than the Bills," right? And what if the Bills make the playoffs? Will you (expectedly) be "pleasantly surprised?" Admit you were wrong? Or say "they got lucky?" -

I can't imagine when he would have been. Futile was the man after the 1998 season. After 1999 and the Music City Mistake, it wasn't like RJ was considered a great QB. Same after the 2000 season. So I'm calling BS unless you can provide a link. -

LOL! That's not Dee Snyder in his avatar. It's his namesake "Elegant" Elliott Offen. I had the misfortune of clicking on a YouTube link and seeing him in person. You think that Peter Pan guy is bad...
