  1. Do the Bills have any non-Bills players who are over 30?
  2. If not at the start, he'll report at the latest by August 5th. Players under contract lose an accrued season if they don't report 30 days before the start of the season. I just read something about this on ProFootballTalk.com, in regards to Devin Hester holding out. I was always under the impression that a player could sit-out the first 8 games and still get an accrued season, but I guess that only applies to a player who has been tagged or tendered.
  3. And the Lions get screwed out of a draft pick. At least Viti was an UDFA.

  5. Yes Novak should be your hero because he talked to the cops immediately...and lied.
  6. There was no error on Lynch's part. That actually turned out to be the smart thing to do. No way the DA gives him the traffic violation deal, which he ultimately got, in the beginning anyway, so why talk and risk incriminating yourself? Sure he took a hit in the court of public opinion, but most people made up their minds from the start to excuse or convict him, and nothing was going to change their belief. And in this case, great for Novak that he talked to police! He basically lied to them and will get his ass fried, since there's a witness who said the victim was on his windshield, which is almost impossible to miss, considering it was during broad daylight and on a clear day.
  7. When was the last time he "whined" about it?
  8. It was actually more of a stiff-arm. And yeah, the witness saying the victim was "splayed onto the windshield" kind of destroys the "I didn't know I hit him" defense.
  9. It was less a matter of DJ "not producing" than it was a ton of injuries in 2002, not to mention having to play "home" games an hour away in Champlain, Ill, and then Angelo giving away some of DJ's best defensive players (and the team was successful in 2001 mostly because of their defense) prior to the 2003 season, without making any additions to the team.
  10. I worked with a guy who married some millionaire's daughter, and he said the same thing (in terms of not caring if his credit card/number were to be stolen). And meant it.
  11. The Bills should have held out for a 1st rounder for him.
  12. But he'll be adding twice as many to his career TD record.
  13. Mark my words (!), but the Packers will regret not bringing Favre back. The only reason they don't want to is because Aaron Rodgers was drafted by Thompson and McCarthy and they want their guy starting. All this talk of "we changed the offense" is bunk. All they had was OTA's and a minicamp. They can easily go back to the old offense and "re-learn" it in training camp.
  14. Sorry but this situation isn't even comparable to McGahee's. And McGahee's price wasn't going to go up because no important RB got hurt prior to the season.
  15. And count on another sweep for the Bills this year.
  16. JP will be ready to play if he gets a chance, just like last year when he came off the bench against the Jets, after he'd lost his job for the first time. He's definitely gone after the season and will be looking to show teams what he can do. I doubt he'll play loose though, since he'll want to make a good impression. It will be interesting though to see if the changes on offense help him like they seemingly should help Trent.
  17. Miami should have the 1st overall pick again next year.
  18. Fair enough. I'm done.
  19. When you get a brain, maybe you'll understand the farcical hypocrite you are. Maybe you've gone braindead from the Bills missing the playoffs all these years. To which I say, step away from the game, for your own good. But if you want to keep getting kicked in the head, please explain again how the Fins "improved more than" the Bills. Or how Jake Long, according to those same scouts you used to bash Hardy, won't be a huge bust as an NFL OT. Or how the Jets have definitely improved their team.
  20. Not exactly. Say for example a play calls for a 5- or 7-step drop and you see a free blitzer coming from one side or another. There's no time for the play to be executed properly. You either need to get someone to block that blitzer or go to a quicker-developing play. Not having an audible system is idiotic, regardless of whether the Rams in 1999 truly didn't have audibles or not. Schonert is a former 10-year NFL QB who played with 3 different teams. He was a backup, but those are the types of guys who know the systems the best, but don't have the talent to do it. Fairchild had only played QB at community college. Given the choice between the two, and since there are no Shanahan-type offensive geniuses lying around, I feel better knowing the Bills' OC actually played in the NFL and has an idea what to expect. And Fairchild was a RB's coach fr 2 years with the Bills before being promoted to OC with the Rams. How Martz tabbed him for that job I'll never understand, although Martz was apparently the real OC. But I'm sure Levy thought that Fairchild learned something from Martz that he could bring to Buffalo. He was wrong.
  21. So let me see if I have this correct. I believe the Bills' offense will improve and I'm "digging a hole for myself," whereas you believe it won't get better, if not get worse, and this is completely correct thinking, right? While on the other hand, you know the Jets and Fins will improve "more than" the Bills? Do you see the flaws inherent in this "logic?" What am I saying, of course you don't! So what can we say for sure? That every team will remain the same? That we'll have to wait and see? Because if it's the latter, the only one "digging himself a hole" is the one who thinks that what he believes is right, without any proof. But I believe I can reasonably say that the Bills' offense will be better this year than last year. Even if slightly. I can also say the same for the defense. Whether that's means they'll make the playoffs though remains to be seen.
  22. If that's true, then I'm surprised the offense wasn't almost as bad in 2006 as last year. And it's no wonder the Bills have struggled under Fairchild. You must be able to audible out of a bad play. He's a defensive guy. I was fine with him leaving the offense to his OC, provided the OC knows what he is doing. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Fairchild blamed a lot of his problems on a rookie QB.
  23. The biggest problem was the lack of a #2 WR. Without one and the defenses being able to key more onto Evans, the long passes, which are low percentage to begin with, become even lower. And after Edwards was the starter, again as I said, they tried to limit his exposure. As for whether Hardy WILL take attention away from Evans, I believe he will. I think you over-estimate just how much opposing DB's will be able to sit on him at the LOS.
  24. The offense was sputtering under JP for the first 2 games, when by all accounts it should have picked-up where it left off in 2006. After Edwards, a rookie, came in, I can understand why the greater importance was to protect him and take fewer chances. But what I was getting at is that the Bills didn't have a #2 WR last year, and I knew that would be a problem prior to the start of the season. In 2006, Price was the #2, and while he wasn't any great shakes, he was still the best the Bills had. But that was his last gasp as his performances before he got injured in the 4th game show. As I've said, if nothing else, I expect Hardy to take attention away from Evans like Price did in 2006. But as to Fairchild, why did he suddenly take away audibles from JP in 2007? Why did he have the team practice plays, only to not use them during games? I can't figure those out, and I don't know if Jauron could have been wise to them before it was too late.
  25. What about 2006? That seemed to work for Evans. And last year featured the same OC and personnel except for some upgrades on the O-line.
