Next time you get the urge to bash the Bills front office

Yes, I agree. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? -

So what changed between 2006 and 2007 on defense for the 49'ers, to make them worse and thus negate Clements' presence? How about the Bills? -

The Patriots are currently $10M under their adjusted cap. -

This past off-season: Asante Samuel. -
It's "at the root" in so far as the Bills haven't seen or heard from him since January, thus they have no idea what condition he's in, and want to see that he's back to his old form before giving him a huge new deal. I think that's totally logical and a plausible scenario.
-
Wouldn't the large $19.4M number represent the maximum value of the contract? And if not and there are bonuses that aren't accounted for, wouldn't him hitting them be a good thing? And maybe Mayo has more bonuses that aren't accounted for in the $18.9M number?
-
Who said anything about the first week, and who makes a deal within a week anyway? You need to spend at least several days investigating things before you know what might have happened versus what the accused is telling you. I'm talking about the first meeting after a week, when most of the facts were known and pointed to Lynch neither being impaired nor knowing he hit her. The DA claimed that Lynch's lawyer demanded a "precondition" that Lynch not be charged with a crime, and that he needed Lynch to admit he was the driver first before offering a deal. And them a month later offers a traffic violation (not a "crime" per se) deal made on the "assumption" that Lynch was the driver.

This is as silly as the "the Bills should have kept McGahee because they 'wasted' another 1st rounder on Lynch..." argument. McGahee was rightfully shown the door and Clements was NOT worth near the $9M a year he's getting, and the law of averages is creeping up on him where he's about due for a major injury. I just showed you that the effect that Clements' absence had on the Bills passing defense was negligible at best, and the same could be said for his presence on the 49'ers' defense. Unless there is some further breakdown that someone is willing to do, like passing offenses each team's defense faced in 2006 versus 2007, "it is what it is." Could his presence have meant the difference between the Bills going 7-9 and 10-6 and possibly making the playoffs? It never did in the past, and given the state of the Bills' offense, it's highly doubtful. As for the contention that the Bills spent 3 draft picks and signed an UFA just to replace Clements, please. The value was at CB, OL, and RB at their position, and given the money they spent on the OL (and there was no center worth near the 11th overall pick) and the pick they spent on Lynch the year before, they weren't going to take either of those. Not to mention Greer has 1 year left and James is on the wrong side of 30 and has an injury history. The other options would have been to trade down or reach for a player at another position (like WR, but that would have been dumb), but I doubt any team was offering anything for the 11th pick this year. -

The Bills being without Denney for half a season, Hargrove for 4 games, and losing guys like Simpson, Poz, and Kiwaukee Thomas, had an effect on the Bills' defense, whether you choose to believe it or not. But even still, the Bills surrendered ONE more TD in 2007 but had 5 more INT's compared to 2006. Conversely, the 49'ers surrendered 1 fewer TD but also got 2 fewer INT's last year compared to 2006. IOW, Clements' absence meant almost nothing. -

Unfortunately for the Fins, Clements' absence made no difference for them. They still got swept, and will again this year. -
Have you checked out the new search engine?

Down with Google! -
Not to mention AKC and Dwight Drane.
-
It wasn't his lawyer; it was the DA who was unwilling to deal initially.
-
Does it matter? He was a beast!!!!!!!
-
As a coach, he's an excellent motivator and gets results. However he's not the coach with the Fins. A guy who has only been a head coach at that college powerhouse University of New Haven and who has mostly been an OL coach will be coaching the team...and looking over his shoulder constantly. And Parcells needed someone else to help him "buy the groceries." Now he's the main one. We'll see how it works out.
-
Is this a surprise to anyone? Beck looked like garbage last year and Henne was a marginal college player. Not to mention McCown is an idiot. Hell Romo was an UDFA lucky strike (like Peters was for the Bills) for Parcells, who hasn't drafted a good QB since he had the 1st overall pick and used it on Bledsoe.

[closed]Assume that Peters doesn't play this year;

Goodell would have set a dangerous precedent by suspending a guy for not seeing, and hitting, someone, and getting a traffic violation, which isn't a crime. Unless any evidence comes to light that he was drinking that night, which amazingly so far hasn't happened despite more than a few people claiming that he "obviously" was drunk/impaired, it was a complete accident. Hopefully we can move on...until the civil case happens or there's a settlement.
-
What are the specs? How many yards/receptions/TD's does he need as a WR?
-
And I thought the Bills were supposedly cheap...
VOR replied to Chilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd have to see the specs of the contract. All I know is it's a 6-year deal with $1.75M guaranteed. It could be a 6-year $30M deal, meaning he'd (gasp) have to earn his money. But since I don't know the specs, I really can't comment further. -

He's got to prove himself. He started for less than half a season, and while it was really good, it was with Favre behind center. We'll see how much running room he has with Rodgers at QB, and thus if he's worth a huge contract, and if he can do it over the course of a full season. -
If you read his NFL.com draft analysis, this wouldn't have been hard to predict. He's best-served as a RT, if even.
-
He's a great punt returner seeing as he's scored 7 TD's on them in the past 2 years and his average is great (even though it's helped by those 7 long returns). But the answer to that is directional punting. Looking at his KO return average though, which is very pedestrian and even moreso when you factor-in that he's had 4 long KO returns for TD's, and the fact that he's largely unproven as a WR, I don't know if he's worth that kind of coin.

Henry's playing days are probably over, and NOT due to his on-field talent.
