It’s Here! The Long and Winding road has brought us to the Divisional Playoffs at Home in a quasi-rematch with the reigning AFC Champion, Cincinnati Bengals. The teams QBs are among a small handful of the best players at the position and both feature additional star players throughout their rosters. 20 games in from the start of preseason have taken a toll on the rosters and only the healthiest players remain. But it’s at Home! In the waning days of the House that Ralph built. (Ok, WE did..) Another rare opportunity to be in the Conference Championship Game next weekend. Even with Locker cleaning day looming for the vanquished, We really couldn’t ask for more. It’s been a team goal from the very beginning and pursued with great effort. This includes the weight of a forlorned, 63 year franchise in a city that has never won a major Title and their ever faithful fans. Whether we Want to be or not, we’re ALL IN TODAY!

Good luck today   We’re all linked and this feels more invested as a season as I ever remember.  We’ve followed along with the whole “ process” , each year getting better , closer , until  Beane made a huge move to bring it home. This is supposed to be the final piece , but we’re still undermanned on the D side with Hyde/ Von sidelined today. But the game / chance to move on IS in Buffalo. It feels strange because even tho Vegas has us favored, every analyst is picking Cincy , probably based on that prior  first quarter and also our flaws last week. But they forget, we still keep winning as  has Cincy,   But things set up even better for us to advance to a neutral site for the opportunity to get back to the SB. It’s just one good hour of football to get that chance and today, emotions will be filling the stadium like the days of the 90’s

I remember those days and the feeling of anxiety before each of those playoff games.  It feels that way when you know you have paid the dues as a team to get there ,  to keep advancing.   This team has paid the dues and never skipped the step of experiencing that pain of a loss on the way there. Cincy hasn’t paid that price yet. They skipped that step getting in last year and missed us by 13 seconds. Today those 13 seconds come due , it’s time to pay it in Buffalo. Today the process pays off and we take one more step to the SB. .  I’m nervous, but this is in Buffalo, and it’s where we don’t lose.    “ what’s more , we gotta it done! “     Yep, it’s time we have to do it.  Hope today is a great day , Go Bills!

Cool hype video for the Bills Bengals w Fitzmagic

Make sure this not only plays pregame but have it ready to go for replay at the half with 30 min left to bury Cincy.  No mercy , put any doubts to rest !  Been a long season , a death defying season , historical winter storms season.  .   No time to be nice to the “GALS”. !    Only one chance to keep moving on this year.  Win this and Kc is literally limping into the AFC championship;  We can’t waste this opportunity!  Why so serious?   Why not!?  It’s our time!   Go Buffalo !

I didn't see this posted anywhere but how is this even possible?

According to Jensen himself he had a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, plus a bone chip and a meniscus injury and he "healed" on his own with no surgery in 5 months?

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/17/ryan-jensen-im-proud-of-myself-for-being-out-there-after-a-severe-knee-injury/#comments

Well , you can function without those ligaments , but it’s not going to be or feel the same. Plus long term I am sure he will have limited function and may end up in the future with a total knee replacement.  Short term is much different than long term prognosis ; hey look at guys who have hands with angled and broken fingers ( McFarland) who didn’t get fractures repaired correctly or at all.  Pain tolerance, other supporting muscle groups and individual anatomy play a role for each individual.
But you don’t have to have intact ligaments to walk. Would love to see how he feels about this decision in a few years and also look at post injury mri proof of the joint before and after “ healing”.  Making it back for a game is different than extending a career.  Everbody is different ; I’ve seen smokers live long lives but most don’t lead quality lives and one anecdotal case is just that , not a proven trend that leads to great future  outcomes.

Leftwich should have been made the HC last offseason and now they fire him as OC. Tampa will quickly flush back down into the bowl of anonymity.

Well , having followed Leftwich from Marshall to Jax , he was overrated as a qb and it shows he depended on TB for success as an OC. TB was not as good and it’s not some mystery that Leftwich can’t sustain success?  Belicheck dropped off without TB as well.  Leftwich is not some great communicator ; he needs experience and polish before he can lead a franchise.

It took years fir Daboll to be  prepared and Leftwich and Dorsey should pay attention to that.  Why be in a hurry to get a position few hold onto for more than a couple of years ; wait to optimize your limited chances of. success. Reputations are hard to repair , if ever, and it takes great change.  Leftwich has plenty of time to get to be a head coach.  Ask McDaniels  who still is struggling with the raiders and he is running out of opportunities.   Chose your path carefully as you have limited chances to be seen as a success and it’s much easier to fail.  Daboll did it right and look at his chance to stick with the Giants; his maturity and the Giants success is no coincidence.

Find a way to keep him.  I have faith in Beane on this.  The Bills are a better team and the D is a lot more steady when he's in.  His presence allows the DBs to swing for the fences more, and has the passion that the D seems to otherwise lack in his absence.  Git r done Beane!

I really think underlying injuries which I think will require off season surgery may hinder resigning him , esp with his age.  I hate the idea of losing him, but it sure looks unlikely the Bills retain him.  Sad as this last season Hyde / poyer only got a couple of games together. Maybe Hamlins situation plays a role if he has any ongoing issues.  Why turnover more than needed but it’s about poyers demands as well.  He has been a great Bill and one of my fav safeties like Leonard Smith , Kelso , Hyde , poyer.  I would even prefer him over Oliver for resigning.  The line has proven to be interchangeable or rotatable; the defensive backfield not so much.

    I Don't Think So

    That said....

I had the impression McDermott is nonplussed and a bit at his wit's end with some of Josh's decision making the last couple weeks, and that if he had hair left, he'd be pulling it out.  He said there's a balance there, you prepare, you put the work in, and there's calculated risk, calculated being the operative, the key word.  He was asked if he felt the Bills had dodged a bullet there with the turnovers, and he said "Yeah.  I mean, that's not the way you want to live your life, if you want to win games.  That's proven, in the NFL.  I trust our players, though, that they're going to take great ownership of it, and get it corrected."

Later, he said "it's something that's been addressed, directly, indirectly and will continue to be addressed, one way or the other, as we continue down the road here."

Not quite sure what "one way or the other" could mean, LOL.

On the other hand, going back up to @Bocephuz OP, on his Tuesday appearance on Kyle Brandt's Basement, Josh said that he felt he only made one really bad decision in the Dolphins game, and that was the deep throw to Brown.

I don't know if I agree with that; I think on 2nd down, a decision to throw to a tightly covered Beasley with 2 other defenders in the vicinity, vs Diggs short of the chains but very wide open, really ought to be considered.

I saw Josh on that show and it seems he is not being as accountable this year as in the past.  He is not stopping the unnecessary fumbles , carrying the ball recklessly as he scrambles and even in the pocket.  The red zone ints speak for themselves and while he keeps repeating “ I can’t do that “ , or “ I wish I had that one back” , the same turnover issues are ongoing. Seems like an issue where he is not afraid of accountability like he was in the past under Daboll and I think Dorsey enables him.
Listening to Dorsey never really gives me any glimmer he is actually pushing Josh as his coach  , but seems more like a colleague or peer.  Josh is still young , and I think this year he is just not adjusting after less than great performances as long as they are winning.  I say this as I am watching Daboll convert Daniel jones into a qb who is performing well in the system and not turning the ball over like he did before.

There are options available to Josh to avoid all the ints , he is just not taking them and several content providers have shown that. The fumbles had been addressed before but have returned and you can bet Cincy will be having guys swiping at Josh if he keeps carrying the ball like Shady.  Maybe it will take them losing and getting sent home before he decides to accept this could cost them a chance at the title. By asking him to have Better ball security, think about situations a little more , you are not ruining his talent but giving him a chance to win it all.

Mcd and dorsey need to be forceful in not accepting this as ok; they have won and overcome the turnovers so far but it’s playing with fire.  I mean Mcd is stating as much.   Josh also had more than one bad throw, heck even tasker pointed out he is missing easy slants if he has to come off his first read as he is not moving his feet to reset and just flips it using his arm.  He is missing placement which adds to drops.  Fina agreed on his show / podcast.

Dorsey needs to quit being a peer and be a coach as statistically teams losing the turnover battle don’t usually keep winning. I just don’t understand how a guy keeps repeating “ I can’t do that” , but then doesn’t change. Feels a bit arrogant and insincere which seems the antithesis of Josh , yet that’s reality.  The numbers of ints / fumbles are not fictitious.  Zero turnovers and that Miami game is never close. Losing the turnover battle cost the Bills their SB blowout losses; they won’t even get there if they don’t clean this up.

addendum ; watch Ross  Tucker with Mike Catalana on Buffalo plus YouTube podcast about the issue with Josh fumbling “ he just doesn't seen to get it “,   “ I’ve been in meetings where it’s talked about how loose a guy is with the ball “.   It’s coming from a pro about the issue of Josh resistance to deal with the high levels of turnovers.  This is a real thing , regardless of pff grade etc.  Hopefully our star qb doesn’t have to lose to learn or just change being loose with the ball.  It’s a good listen from an insider. Also listen to his analysis if the o line compared to others that are still playing.  Just an fyi.

a lot of the time these are superficial zoom meetings to see if they should go into the multiple day interviews, ( as is my understanding).  this happens every year.  i don't think there's much concern there.

Weren’t the pegulas against allowing interviews before playoff games before?  Even if it’s by zoom , Dorsey still is not just going in unprepared and winging it.  Doing a possible career changing interview a day or two prior to playing against a team whose staff is fully preparing , seems unfair to all involved. Honestly , if I was seriously considering hiring someone , I want their undivided attention , not someone distracted.
This is a joke , and if I was dorsey , I would not interview at this time. It’s not like the Carolina brain trust could not shift until at least Monday , and it’s not a high profile job right now.  It’s only his first year as an OC, both parties should see if he stands the test of time regarding success as next years competition in the division will  be improving.
There is no advantage to doing an interview while a guy is actively working on an upcoming game and the NFL should not allow this.  So if the Bills O comes out and lays an egg , loses , do you still want that candidate ? How will the players feel if the game plan falls flat ; I would be pissed if a business partner blew off a big meeting that cost me an opportunity and income.   All these coaches talk about how time consuming preparation is, sleeping at the office , etc and then you allow hours to be spent prepping under less than ideal circumstances for what is likely a long shot chance ?
What does this say about how dorsey is viewed in the organization; if valued I would just give him the assistant coach title , a raise , knock off the interview and not allow this distraction.  If they lose , this is not going to go over well.

    and we didn't?

Everyone assumes the Bengals were just gonna wipe the floor with us 7-minutes into the game.  Bills moved the ball just as easy against their defense too.

Yeah but game was moved to Buffalo , so it’s still like having the 1 seed until possibly playing KC, right?  If the Gals had won , we drop to the three and playing in cincy this week or kc if kc had lost.  We were down Hamlin , and #7 , the best nickel back / quasi LB in the league. Who knows how the remainder goes tho, as this Bills team continues to just win ( gals on a 10 game streak too tho )?

They did have some bad luck injury wise , losing 3 starting ol since then perhaps for this game , but hey, Hamlin is out, all pro Hyde and HOF von miller is out, so they can cry me an Ohio river injury wise !  Lol!  My issues are we just need Josh to be the best Josh , not shady carrying the ball in one hand , and maybe 11 deep balls ( connecting on 3-4) is not great statistical strategy, esp when backs were open as way to beat the cover 0 ?  Not getting to Diggs for stretches is as bad as taking the ball away from someone like Thurman or Reed back in the day.   This o line is avg at pass pro , teams are not rushing ends past Josh and also spying him , so Dorsey Needs some anticipation and solutions.  Teams will copy that d look.    We will need to prob score in the 35 area , so at home our Wr can’t be dropping balls or  making route errors.   Dorsey tho can’t fall into another 7 sack , def scoring , short field donating O show up.  Fingers crossed.

Burrows does scare me because he is just very accurate if you’re not hitting him. We have not been getting home well with 4 dl.  Frazier will prob have to send Milano / Edmunds at times.  .  We don’t match up well with their receivers, but Tre may be feeling more confident , Taron had an amazing game against Hill and Waddell, and hopefully the staff puts Elam out there as he played well and athletically can hang with those gals wrs.  I just don’t get their hesitation at this point , he is your #1 pick , rookie  time is over and he saved the end game against Miami. What more can you ask while Jackson has had a rough year and now possible knee issues?
Hyde would be huge but medically I think it’s hard seeing  him returning for contact this year (if cleared medically tho ,  hope he does  make it back) so I hope Marlowe / poyer are in sync.  Little concerned as fins were running free early and they had many critical drops too.   Milano is critical stopping Mixon running and hitting Joe cool a couple of hard times, and Edmunds needs to cover the rbs / tight ends well.   Would love to see Edmunds get Sticky hands on a couple of those balls he gets too ! ( po has disappeared with ints with arm issues, so maybe Elam can grab or tip one for an int)

Should we get behind , more than 10 , or two full possessions at any point at home , I think odds go to 70-30 cincy as I don’t think Josh has a great record from that far back ( don’t have stats in front of me).  But if we can remain ahead until late in the 4 th ( like 4 min time) by 7 or 8 , or keep  within one possession, I think it flips to 80% BILLS WIN.  0-1 turnovers or we win the turnover margin and  I think it’s a win , like 38-31.
Lose the turnover margin by more than 1 and I don’t see how we escape again.  I don’t terribly mind the ints too much, but there is no excuse for Josh to keep carrying the ball  Shady style, one handed scrambling and certainly not in between the tackles.  if Daboll has Daniel  jones playing  error free, well That speaks volumes about our coaching if the Turnovers continue.  Should we still be hearing  “ I can’t do that” next week from Josh ,most likely he will be right, he “ can’t “because they won’t be playing.  I struggle  understanding  those type of preventable mental  mistakes. Josh will keep a great year going avoiding those.    😀

Josh has a combined 32 INTs and fumbles on the year (including playoffs) most in the NFL. He always says “I’ve gotta do a better job protecting the ball,” but then the game starts and well…

The offense often feels like it has ADHD and can’t have that surgical focus for an entire 60 mins. How much more dangerous would the Bills be if they seldom turned the ball over? Hopefully those gaffes won’t be our undoing. Beane did say the playoffs are often a microcosm of the season, exposing what ails the team the most.

Perfect summary of the situation.   Many posters , in the chats during the  game , anywhere on the planet will condemn you if as just a football fan , even as an avid Josh and Bills fan for decades , you commit the horrible crime of stating an opinion that Josh can at times make mistakes. 😉. This despite Mcd saying clearly we played poor complimentary football and we must take care of the ball and both Josh and Dorsey “ wished “ they had a play or series of called plays back in his post game presser.   Again , even being a supporter for years doesn’t seem to permit mentioning you should not expect certain types of  errors from a 5 th year qb / 6 th year head coach  .  I think your ideas are spot on.  ! 😀 It’s crazy , Dan Fetes, a good natured guy,  just put up a YouTube on Buffalo plus apologizing for saying Josh could have done better!  It’s crazy he felt compelled to defend such a harmless statement!  Certain elements of the fan community needs to get help, stay off social media, take a walk!

One enjoyable experience is hearing the same , mob like mentality statement, “nothing matters but the W and nothing carry’s through to the next game “ , as if that’s the only thing or end result that is allowed to be learned or gained from participating in watching and discussing an event that lasted over  4 hours  of your life, and a hobby most on here  have spent years  enjoying and learning about.
There is unfortunately a DARK Tetrad  ( well researched and published data about anonymous online behavior or online trolls ) of traits  of anonymous DENOUNCERS  , being they tend  to be narcissistic ( people who believe they deserve social status having never actually earned it  ), Machiavellian ( manipulate others to get what they want, regardless of outcome to others ) , psychopathic ( parasitic and predatory and willing to exploit people ), and sadistic ( taking a delight in seeing others fail ) , and that TETRAD  of traits will be brought to bare against anyone being even mildly  critical of 17 in any way , even tho we all have progressed in our lives and careers experiencing CONSTRUCTIVE ( very key word , done in a positive manner , not destructive) criticism.
His coaches are supposed to be critical and he seems to expect some Job critique, but  offering an opinion even agreeing with his own REPETITION of issues is akin to kicking a puppy, a 6’5”, 245 LBish puppy who leaps tall men to protect himself!  Just watch the response tho, as mentioning such admitted errors is evil !🤪 !  Lol!  Terrible, right?

I really respect/ enjoyed  your thoughts on how MUCH MORE dangerous we COULD be, and hopefully these gaffes won’t be the Bills undoing against better teams. The pattern of INTS & FUMBLES  ( we have heard dbs knowing Josh will put the ball up in danger in situations, and you can bet they noticed how often he is exposing the ball in the pocket scrambling or out running  and fumbling , just as they did for backs like Tiki Barber in the past) DOES CARRY Over or the numbers wouldn’t be building and teams wouldn’t watch film looking for ways to get an edge against an upcoming opponent.
Them’s FACTS!  🤔. So , while the ultimate goal is  easily stated to WIN & ADVANCE , to just simplify things to the point of believing Josh or the Bills have no influence over that process based on PRIOR GAME  performance seems short sighted. Coaching staffs matter, better ones win in the NFL  by adapting and based on the last 3 turnover , 17 point blown lead game, this staff needs to provide strategy to overcome some clear flaws across the o line, Josh’s decisions , etc.

I think Dorsey has NOT been as influential or demanding ( like Daboll who has influenced Allen and now Jones with a 0 TO  playoff win)  and that’s possibly why we have not seen the ball security issues reigned in.  Ultimately it comes back to SEAN’s  responsibility and his level of tolerance of issues that hurt team performance.  Dorsey will improve with time , but if they don’t want to waste a great year of resilience and success so far , Mcd needs to stand by his press statements & enforce while practicing that the level  of performance against Miami  is NOT LIKELY CHAMPIONSHIP quality. I mean, it could be adequate, but seems unlikely doesn’t it?
There is no time left  to HOPE they don’t keep turning the ball over just because they keep promising they won’t keep shooting themselves is an actual solution. I think Mcd / Dorsey need to step up and actually perform well situationally and get Josh on board ; they won’t ruin his instincts by demanding things like he quit carrying the football like Shady!  😉. I do hope they treat these guys, while playing , as serious enemies and don’t let down because that might be human nature after going thru the Hamlin situation together. It’s great they were compassionate, but not they need an a$$ kicking!

I don’t know , but most owners / bosses I have worked under actually expect accountability and the GREAT ones give you tools to keep advancing against adversity and struggles. Now is the point where don’t want to  get eliminated based on ignoring simple errors you have identified and promised won’t keep recurring; the Bills have not been able to even compete for their ultimate goal since the 90’s and I think solving the turnover issue can get them there.  Could be an insightful time regarding certain coaching careers;  Marv at least got there 4 x!  And hey, it’s just words and an opinion; I wouldn’t even treat a sore throat without discussing options for the best outcome.  People have to be allowed to talk, throw out opinions safely or the community becomes a dogma mafia !  👍😊 Go Bills!

His offense scored 34 points despite having 3 turnovers.

    Solid.

Yet we  were one drive from possibly losing to third string Qb , on a team with a depleted o line , depleted running backs , coached by a ROOKIE head coach as Mcd is entering his 6 th year.  You can chose to just look at the final point total , but our o also gave them six points on a strip sack / fumble recovery and we lost other points because of the ints and Josh fumbling before before getting a first down on the initial drive.

We played a supposedly vastly inferior opponent ( just looking at records alone , not to mention how depleted their roster was ) so actually 34 points IN THAT CONTEXT, is not that solid. I think teams like KC , San Fran would have easily hung a fifty burger on that team playing them in their home stadiums.   I love the w and obviously it’s about moving on. Followed the Bills since ‘63, went to two of the superbowls , and todays quality of win could be an issue if like past seasons , trends matter.

it’s funny , Before Super Bowl 27 in Pasadena against the cowboys , I got to attend a dinner with Hank Stram speaking.  To my dismay and complete disbelief in the BS I thought he was spouting , he predicted the cowboys would win , easily , based on a formula he used that included a teams turnover history/ ratio.  There was no way I thought the Bills could lose three in a row , that’s why I went !  Lol! Damn Stram was right !  Trends and quality of play prior to a given game can  matter.  Vegas counts on that type of stuff right?

Watching this season I wonder if Dorsey is a little too forgiving or too lenient with Josh. It’s not been a great year of ball security by him. Just a thought; yet hard to ignore  Dabolls success with turning the Giants around and Jones committing no turnovers in the win today.  Dabolls offenses struggled at times last year but he sure turned things up for the playoffs and got the most out of Josh.  Dorsey has done a remarkable job but it sure has been a struggle at times. The turnovers just keep coming ( don’t we have the most of the teams in the playoffs ?) and it’s hard to overcome that predisposition moving up the competition tree. It was great to not lose tho and this team is definitely getting good at that ! 👍😀

Man , that is so fluid and effortless for him.  It looks like he barely moves and the ball is going 30-40 yards (?) or more defying gravity. That much talent must feel different , invincible like.  So happy for once all this talent is piloting the Bills; if they can just reach the SB once , no telling what the confidence of a win could unleash.  Took some time for Kelly & all to get there , but then 4 in a row was set free. We need that final step ; why not ? Looking back on those old Bills teams , the only area they really were consistently better was their o line , with greats like Hull, Ballard, Fina, etc.  Give Josh a stable line and one more consistent wr , and it might be Pats like dynasty in the making.

This needs to be the end of including Herbert in the same conversation as Allen, Mahomes and even Burrow.  He’s a good kid and a good QB but we can’t pretend he’s on the level of those other dudes.

I would wait to see if a coach really unleashes more of his abilities.  I really blame this loss on coaching decisions as Herbert looked very good in the first half. Look how bad Lawrence was looking , like a deer in the headlights bust under Urbans influence the prior season!

( actually coming from a long time Buckeye fan.  I Thought Urban was not the mess as a person like he turned out to be and he was an atrocious NFL coach. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Day  has inherited some  of his arrogance but not continuing to beat Michigan two years in a row and blowing the lead in the Georgia game will prob get him one more year to flip things back , yet losing a heisman candidate qb is going to prove challenging. The Bucks have been atrocious on d under Day , who is an offensively minded coach. I think Harbaugh has his number tho and it was exactly opposite with Urban there. Sorry for getting off target with buckeye talk!)

Pederson has literally done a 180 with Lawrence and the jags, so I think seeing Herbert under a coach like Peyton might really untapped Herbert’s full potential.  Look what Daboll has accomplished with the Giants qb and Allens development. Arguably , Allen has not had quite the same progression this year with the change to Dorsey. He is still right there with Mahomes, yet he has not  read defenses or game situations quite as well.   ( only basing this on his red zone issues and giving away certain points at times , even tho the team record has improved but I think Mcd has improved and Miller / great d was there for early season).  Allen didn’t really drop back as much if Dorsey hadn’t stayed, I just think his decision making can still progress, as it just may take  another year together to stabilize things and a year of experience for Dorsey to further develop imo. Coaching does influence production at the qb position watching as Tua progressed this year under a new head coach.  Hard to argue against coaching effects.

Take away the unstable coaching for Herbert , place him with an experienced offensively minded quality head coach , and then I would be ready to see where Herbert finally fits, I suspect he will be right there with Mahomes , Allen, Burrows, Hurts , ( Purdy ?) , but above Tua because of versatility and durability.   I think he will still improve.

Turns out the Jags started Peterman so...no problem.

Tried telling people this is not a “ weak” Jags team, but it comes down to good coaching at critical times.  Jags personnel won’t match up well against KC and Reid is as good or better than the Jags head coach , so I think KC gets a pretty easy win.  But this game it came down to the head coach overcoming his qb throwing 4 first half picks.

Peterson made critical choices ; he went up tempo to give them enough possession time to come back , he went for 2, not 1, when Bosa was stupid enough to throw his helmet prior to the post td conversion ( he stated post game he would not have gone for two if not for bosa!) and pm 4 th and a foot they run a wide toss with etienne instead of the qb sneak and puts them in winning fg position.  Huge calls and meanwhile under the great coaching on the Bolts sideline they melted down blowing at one point a 27-0 lead.  That head coach acts like he is on stimulants or has adult adhd ; watch his interview coming oit at half and he is talking so fast it’s like a flight of ideas. If this disaster piled on top of last week doesn’t get this freak fired, I don’t know what would. That roster is loaded with talent and you have a premiere qb and looks like this would be the most desirable job  in the NFL.

Once again tho this proves in the NFL you need a really good qb, a very good head coach , and I think the gm is proving to be critical as well in keeping a franchise relevant and in playoff contention regularly.   We have all that in Buffalo , now Mcd has to prove he can get to that final step in coaching and at least get to the Super Bowl. There is no one better as a team builder or culture creator than Sean and this has been his best coaching year by far.  I think he deserves coach of the year by a wide margin, but the teams playoff performance may decide that as people outside of Buffalo may not appreciate all he has negotiated this year.

Hopefully the Bills don’t take the fins lightly tomorrow and get out with  a w and injury free. Hamlins stop by today I’m sure will have them relaxed and it’s up to the leaders and coaching to come out sharp early. . The Bolts proved tonight there is never a sure thing and you have to keep the gas pedal down  in the playoffs.  If we get out healthy and if Hyde somehow got back for the following game , that would be a great chance to keep advancing giving Mcd a chance to finally put last year way behind him.

Staley is the biggest problem in that building. He’s lucky he’s playing a pretty weak opponent this week

They won’t be that weak at home in Jax , with a better head coach.   The Bills have usually struggled here against lesser talented teams , like last year and with Blake Bortles at Qb in the Bills playoff loss here. Just saying , at home they can be a tough out. With all the charger injuries, a Jax win wouldn’t be a huge shock.  ( not a big jags fan as it’s a franchise that just put crappy products on the field after Coughlin left and Wayne Weaver sold the team to this guy bent on fostering his London obsession).
Have always been a Bills fan but I was an original club STH for the jags as my first office was below the original group of cardiologists and city financial guys who were instrumental in the early bids moving forward before they needed a huge money guy in Weaver.   Met him and his wife and they were very genuinely kind people interested in Jax.   Current owner does a lot IN Jax , but is more a globalist, and I am not sure he ever understood the NFL and actual American football.

I think Tua is the better qb at this point….but his future seems to be in doubt. Might be a good move for a year maybe 2.

I don’t see any world, ever , where Tua is better than Brady. Give Brady some protection, that O with that speed, and he will get the ball out quickly to those guys and it’s a challenge beating them.   That coach will actually work with and listen to Brady.  He turned Tua around, imagine what he could do with Brady’s cerebral  talent and accuracy. You don’t compare Tua to a guy with 6 SB wins and put Brady with a guy who can get the best out of him!  I am sick of dealing with Brady, they almost took two from us with Tua, let the other conference deal with him. Why chance another year or two off Josh’s career ; we are not dominating the conference as it is if you hadn’t noticed with mahomes, burrows , and the jags and chargers seem on the way up too.  Please go away, Tom, the AFC is already loaded.

I think you will see the Bills stack the box, take away the short to intermediate routes and dare them to let him throw it over their heads.  Miami is hoping we play the stupid soft zone and let Waddle, Hill, Gesecki all have uncontested 6 yard catches. If we do, they will eventually break a couple tackles and take it to the house on a slant.  Leslie needs to make them beat us, not just let the rookie have a bunch of easy completions to the most dangerous group of skill position players in the league.

Really great points.  Watching the second game now on NFL network.  We were down 29-21 at one point until it started to snow. But the thing that was striking was all the mistakes the secondary made.

One play Edmunds is gesturing to poyer to get deep and poyer stood there as Waddell ran right past him and Tua just dropped it in to a WIDE open Waddell for an easy 6.
On another play , Tre tried to jam Hill , missed completely with hand check / fighting and Hill ran easily past Tre. To top it off , Hamlin again took a terrible angle helping Tre ( not piling on Hamlin when he is down , happy he will be fine obviously, but man he took terrible angles or just got beaten on many plays this year in coverage) and Hill was wide open for an easy pass any NFL  qb should be able to hit.
There were several other passes the Fins receivers  took short balls or won with 50/50 balls and got great yac as our defensive backfield  did not look good. The run game wasn’t overwhelming and with Mostert with a fractured thumb , I don’t think they will be able to run at all in this game, so defending those slants and not missing tackles is crucial in this first playoff game.  Elam actually looked ok with good anticipation the second game and we prob need his speed out there.

If we play that soft D like you described , even a third string qb can hit short passes  , wide open receivers and these guys have shown they can burn this defensive backfield taking short balls and going the distance.   We had issues both times we played the fins and the only difference will be Tua not being there. We blew coverages , lost one on ones , got beat for contested balls so if they are not careful the fins could hang around again until the 4 th and then the Bills could feel the pressure and Josh might feel like he has to be super Josh and we have seen that result in poor choices at times.    I am hoping Frazier plays tighter press coverage to mess up their timing , yet keeps two safeties deep if the corners miss jamming at the line.

The other thing I wouldn’t do is leave a single  safety alone and bring one up closer to the line.  We miss  too many tackles and we have not shown we can have one guy deep like we could with hyde playing  and make up ground or take good angles to help the corners.  They have to keep things in front of them and not give up huge yardage or scoring  plays like they have in both prior games. .  I think Frazier and the d is the key to this first game and these guys have dangerous weapons who can and have beat our coverages. I think Elam should be in with his speed this game and they can’t get caught in formations where Tre has no help.

I just hope they don’t play down to the fins as they have  a good d ,  can hang around, esp if Josh try’s to do too much and fumbles  or turns  the ball over in the red zone. Most fans are predicting a blowout, but it’s a divisional opponent for a third game, and this is not the same old fins as they have a clever coach that is .500 against Mcd.  Tackling that speed and having to defend with at least one inexperienced safety against this Fins team is not an easy blowout imo. We should win, but so far in the prior two games we have made bad coverage mistakes.  Hopefully the coaching staff steps it up for playoff time and has these guys prepped well.  They have some confidence coming to Buffalo as they were up by 8 late in the game here; hopefully our O starts fast and doesn’t allow them to stay close.

Right.  While I think it's awesome he's made this kind of recovery, people need to pump the breaks a bit and realize this doesn't mean he will play for us in the playoffs.  To go through what he's gone through and come back in the same season maybe unprecedented.  Even if he is able to play, how effective would he be?  We definitely need to temper expectations.

Really great points.( unless he discloses his exact procedure  or releases the op report , I’m not sure how anyone would really know what procedure he had ). He obviously has been cleared by his surgeon to be running out on the field and how do you clear him, even if wearing a non contact jersey, that no one touches him or or he wouldn’t slip or fall.   Hyde & the surgeon must be extremely confident he has completely healed.

As you stated, seems unprecedented from a time standpoint ( it’s possible he had minimal work needed , the bad disc may have been the only issue, probably only compromising one opening or just herniating  in one direction, and  that probably meant minimal drilling or work to decompress any compromise of ligaments or his spinal cord,  which is fantastic)   I just think if he is on the practice field now, unless he has some setback AFTER contact, they must be expecting him to be able to get game ready.  If you’re not expecting to actually use him , then there’s no justification for him practicing.

This could be a huge lift, back playing in less than 6 months and when needed with Hamlins situation;  must really feel so happy as it could have been a career threatening situation. If Hamlin makes it to the stadium and Hyde is active, what a boost for the team to start the game!  If Hyde plays 1/3-1/2 the snaps, that actually gives the Bills a shot because without him , watching the Pats carve the d up at times, it just seemed like asking them to stop Burrows or Mahomes might finally have been to much, especially with Miller out who was Beanes big move to get further than before.  . With Hyde, they may get one or two more series stops which is putting the ball back in Josh’s hands, and that extra possession or two might be the difference in getting to the Super Bowl. Really is hard to believe this could work out for the Bills.

I would want nothing to do with that job.  Watt leaving, Murray is a man-child with a dumb contract, just a team built for one goal that will pry need to be torn down to make room for any other system.  They really put all their eggs in the Kingsbury/Murray basket

Cliff walks away with 30 mil$ , so someone will grab their shot at the lottery.   Unbelievable how much money losing coaches walk away with !  I wonder if any  owner ever has the Ba$$s to go back in time with a new or young coach , and offer them the chance to earn that type of money based on winning and culture development. What incentive do these young coaches have to actual,y develop a long term strategy when example after example  has losing coaches walking away with guaranteed generational wealth. Another example of how rare Mcd / Beane are and how fortunate Buffalo is to have found a true gem.   Cliffy will be partying in the pool now , free of the drama he created, and posting his sorrows on Instagram !

The owners I guess don’t worry as the NFL keeps printing money , but it sure would be a story to follow if they reset this ridiculous coaching market.  All that money; Cliffy, Murray, oft injured wr man hopkins, steroid bro JJ watt , all.for how many wins?  Seems ridiculous when you look at it from the outside. 😊. It’s fun watching the old NFL days on YouTube when teams like the Steelers were assembled in the 60’s/ 70’s and it seemed like they played because they enjoyed football in those days ; not to collect their “ bag”.

  19.      This is an example of how medicine and great medical professionals are supposed to work ,,why they “ lift all those books, spend  all those years in school ,  do all that scenario training “  ( to steal from Bill Parcells ) ;   how a team  of medical professionals from EMT’s , to respiratory therapists , to drs, to speech therapists , to critical care nurses, to rehab specialists, and more  all work in concert using the latest, best evidence medical protocols, while combining the art of medicine and the power of prayer to get a result where a young man can now  fulfill his promise in life along with enjoying his family !

This is why the medical profession needs an influx of great young  people as shortages are on the horizon with the last of the baby boomers reaching retirement age and the cost of education acting as a deterrent.  Not everyone can be an NFL athlete , but look at the joy and pride those who were on the “ medical team”  felt as they transferred Damar to his next level of care at Buffalo General. If you have kids or family  who maybe aren’t headed to be NFL level athletes or don’t yet have a career in mind , think about encouraging them toward the medical field by using this example to serve others and help save medical science in its pure goal to seek the truth. There is already a high career demand and almost endless opportunities to chose where to live with great lifestyles available.

This almost tragic event did a complete turnaround where something as simple , yet as vital as AEDs , might be seen as a future project  to be made more accessible at sporting events , public places and schools, any place where large groups of people gather, and it may serve a purpose helping more people become aware how early intervention can lead fo better outcomes like Damar’s.   Maybe Damar with this extraordinary experience  will spur others on, and  in addition to his current foundations work,  use his social platform in conjunction  with some health companies to once again help reinvigorate making  AEDs  available in communities that might not otherwise have the resources to attain them.  8 million $ for toys shows the possible good when people are moved to act together.   It’s just a “little thinking out loud” as we all witnessed this human event turn into an quick reminder about what  is really important in life and how when politics are removed from science , as the UC Drs said , “ with science there is hope” !

Go Bills and here’s hoping this is a sign of good things for the coming year for the great Buffalo community. It’s a relief hearing  Damar is back in his home community,  one step closer to being around his teammates, and able to watch the Bills “ squish the fish”!  👍😊

It ain't getting the job done. Too late now though most likely. Cinci was about to carve us up too so maybe it's better that game got cancelled. This team has some warts. I dont think this junk gets its done vs cinci or the chiefs.

Have to say those two offenses , esp kc , are really playing well and Reid with one less game to prep for , is seasoned, creative , and they look more diverse than they were when they had Hill.  Mahomes even stated he felt he was forcing things to Hill & Kelce esp in the Bengals game where they blew the lead last year.

They dominated the Raiders this week and that game was never in doubt. I know Beane hoped Miller was the answer and hitting Mahomes was how to get past them.  Reid still looks slightly ahead , as he diversified the o even more , and put  more weapons around Mahomes. They are so diverse, it’s not just about stopping mahomes now.  We won’t see this year with Miller hurt , but I hope we figure them out and Dorsey gets more speed and a dependable group of supportive receivers with Diggs, or we may not catch up to kc.  We beat them early the past two years , but as the year goes on that KC O evolves.

Time will tell , but it looks like you will have to outproduce them on offense to get beyond them. They appear to have options if you try rushing Mahomes more. Their run game is impressive with their diverse backs. We have a D really compromised with injuries so it’s hard to judge this year, but the Raiders rush never seemed to matter. Reid is just a really creative coach with a qb who can execute just about anything.  May have to win shootouts later in the year to get past them; it was the raiders tho so will see how we do. Going to be a real challenge.

Won’t matter, Tua will be playing scared knowing full well his career is just one hit from being over.

Sorry , no disrespect intended , but you don’t know how Tua will be playing ; why would he go out if he is “ scared”.?   Thats just speculation/ fan speak  and if he is out there , with all the focus specifically directed toward him ,,he does not play without clearance so it’s out of his hands.  Usually you expect a guy with three documented concussions in one year to be shut down, but if he has no symptoms and clears the protocol, I bet this coach goes with him with so much at stake.
Even our own  pro bowl center has SIX concussions, at least two within this year , and I have not heard  he is playing scared (he  has never said so ) and obviously he has not been “one hit” from “ his career being over “ ( related to his concussion history , yet EVERY player is ONE HIT from their career being over as  Hamlin nearly or possibly demonstrated a week ago ) , ao speculating about  Tua   because you are a good Bills fan is being a little biased.
It’s been a great year to be a fan of this team as they seem to keep winning despite making several mistakes that somehow they find ways to recover from ( another red zone int by Josh, lost fumble by motor , touching a punt and turning it over to the Pats , allowing Jones, who everyone on here describes as average at best , to go 17/17 in three TD drives as our d faced an 8-8, now 8-9 team), and truthfully  we were behind by three to this bad offensive team on our home field at one point, so who knows what to predict?

Despite the mistakes, they keep making spectacular things happen that they pull out wins with, like two kickoff returns for Tds , Tre making a key drive stopping int , and while Gabe seems to be  dropping balls more than expected or not getting two feet down more than once , in comes Smoke from the past with a great Td catch, or  Allen makes up for the red zone int with a perfect bomb to Diggs and extends another play finding Dawson in the endzone!   Here’s hoping Dorsey will roll out some new wrinkles , like Beasley, Smoke , throwing downfield to Cook, running Josh inside the ten, using Shakir more etc.
Predicting anything about Tua and the Fins just seems impossible this year and I personally hope he is out.  ( alls fair in the playoffs cuz it’s one and done !)   It’s a little concerning as he did lead them to one of the wins against us and they played well against us  in cold weather: it probably will be another one possession game ( we won the last one here in the cold 32-29, they beat us by two in Miami, so seems it will be very competitive).
We played at a different level last year in the playoffs, but injuries have really taken a toll this year.  Hyde is out , Hamlin is out , Poyer and Tre are not 100% , and the guy Beane thought was critical to advance , Miller , is out.  Throw in an OC in his first playoff game and it might make things a lot more even or unpredictable than we expected. Vegas tho must think Tua is not playing with that line, and any advantage to overcome the gift KC got having to play only two games to get to the SB,  after losing head to head to both us and Cincy, is something I’m all for.

    Gronk donated $6900 🙄🤯😂😂

Seemed weird as he asked Kay adams as she interviewed him how much he should donate.LIVE; it was HERV choice for the 6900$ as he said from some minimum number up to. 15k$.  She said that number as she was winking , smiling at gronk who continued to suggest he was bored and still might have “5 years “ left. It was perhaps tongue in cheek with Kay suggesting that number, but it seemed weird and awkward to me as it was her podcast / YouTube UP & ADAMS  show.  May have meant nothing more than a multiple of 3 but it was Kay who  made up that # to donate.  Why not choose 15 k as it was an option/ multiple of 3, or 8 $k , somewhere in the middle but more than 1/2 of the range Gronk offered to donate live BASED on Kates decision ? It’s Not gronks jersey or area code etc.  ; anybody else see that cheeky , weird interaction , and know why Kay chose that figure ? ( I could see Gronk joking with the “69”00 $ contribution , but it was Kay’s choice and she had even earlier asked about Gronks Christmas gift for  his girlfriend, so I just don’t get why that number ?  Just joking or something else I’m not aware of ?).

I was wondering about Hamlin’s feasibility to play again even if cleared. Right now I believe work comp law means any medical issues he has the remainder of His life related to this injury are by law covered by either the Bills or NFL. Does that remain in place if he goes back to THIS work specifically, and suffers another injury ?  Any attorneys who know work comp law have a full understanding?
I am not 100 % positive but I thought he was also being assured he would be getting a financial package from the NFL to help cover his financial future as well given this unique situation, considering he is on a lower tiered contract now and there apparently was to be some discussion about the 8 mil donated and how it’s all used in addition. Some undoubtedly will wish  to be sure Hamlin received some contributions just to protect his future financial security  should he not be cleared or he chooses to never take that risk again regardless of medical clearance ( I am no pro athlete , but if I had a unique arrest like that and walked away with my brain intact , not much chance I PERSONALLY would risk my heart/ brain again as there is no way any dr signs  off saying there is 0 % chance of recurrence or some other related injury couldn’t happen in this violent , collision sport).  Would you take a chance on a new contract even if “ CLEARED TO PLAY AGAIN”?  😊

How does one fumble it forward, with velocity, 12 yards, in the direction he was intending to throw it?

Have seen this many times over this year and prior years.  He did not have control of the ball in his hand after he was being hit from behind. If it’s not a fumble , explain how he had control of a ball and threw it forward END OVER END.   Have to have control with ball fully in your hand as arm moves forward.  It was agreed by the on air ref to be a clear fumble , and it was reviewed quickly and confirmed.   If you have control and throw it forward the ball is rotating and not driven forward end over end by the hit.  Try throwing one end over end with the ball still fully in your hand on the laces.   Pretty simple call, took seconds to confirm.  And I’m not a jags fan.  Just straight forward call imo, and it stood. 🍸
