  1. Always enjoy reading your posts, but I just have a little alternative thought about Milano and Bernard. It’s a well-known medical fact that muscle tears or strains can be either traumatic in nature or they can be overuse injuries. One of the more common overuse mechanisms that can lead to pectoralis, biceps, and triceps injuries are doing bench presses. So it’s interesting that Most of our injuries are occurring on defense, where we have undersize DTs, undersized linebackers, who are bulking up, and our nickel cornerback, who is more like a linebacker and therefore also is somewhat undersize for his position. Organizationally, we have to realize that this is where injuries are happening, and it could be the downfall of the team late in the year. We already have experience with this in the prior year. This team really seems to have a great philosophy/ strong cohesiveness this year and for the first time with this regime, outside the perfect game and 13 seconds, I actually feel they have a legitimate shot at aSuper Bowl run. They have talent plus EXPERIENCE and the scars to learn from. If you notice there’s a consistent theme that comes out from team when they interviewed, and that’s that they “ all can eat” and they all seem genuinely not jealous and mentioned that there is no diva like mentality this year on the team. Obviously they’re talking about a certain player that’s gone now and it’s resulted in an offense that is clicking, despite no star and , it’s clicking on many cylinders with creativity, great o line play, and use of the run game along wit a spattering of tight ends and wide receivers, but it is not dependent on wide receivers predominantly like it was in previous years. So I really feel this team has a shot, but of course like Parcells used to say to Belichick ., it’s not the best team. It’s the team who’s playing best in January and February. It’s a long season and we have a long way to go, and now we already have our starting linebackers and starting nickel cornerback out and this is with the history of having had a specific muscle injury to our defensive tackle last year. So we have a history of muscle tears at undersize positions, including our linebacker, nickel corner and defensive tackles and now we’re already relying on second or third string guys to come in and fill positions early and we are hoping that they make it through a whole season or hoping the other guys can come back and somehow recover to pre-injury performance status. Tonight , we exposed a dysfunctional Miami team ; I mean Poyer , who we all respect but knew he was slowing , was exposed several times tonight , and then without Tua , they were done We will be running into much better coached teams quickly and our injuries WILL be an issue that can be targeted. If I was the owner, I would be looking at getting a consult from a training group and making sure with the consultation that we’re not over training guys or look at the possibility that this regime needs to consider a different type of linebacker rather than small speedy guys who can t seem to remain on the field for the majority if a season. I would be looking for the best sport science guys because the muscles that they’re injuring are muscles that are susceptible to overtrain injuries, and this is NOT TO REPLACE THE COACHING / GM staff , but to have another expert ( like they hired the ex.NFL REF) evaluate our training as it’s now a trend with two seasons of specific sports injuries possibly risking our growth mindset process. The final thing that I would be concerned about if I was, the owner would be the field goal kicker. His performance deteriorated from middle of last year and finally hurt the team at the end of the season . It doesn’t help to bury your head and pretend that problem doesn’t exist and here it was again tonight in a game where there was no pressure. Past certain yardages , He just can’t be trusted. any longer. If this team is actually looking like it has a chance at the playoffs and Super Bowl, I think if Beane doesn’t bring in a kicker to at least have on the practice squad to possibly substitute or for competition, they are setting themselves up again to either fail before or not make the playoffs. That doesn’t seem fair to the other two phases of the team. I really understand your point and I hope Buffalo Joe does a great job. I’m just wondering if it’s a training, issue or philosophy type issue with going with these undersized guys , and if so , it’s gonna be hard for them to make it an entire season. It is possible that we may only be able to get so far before the injuries expose a limited talent level despite having an absolute superstar franchise quarterback. Just my thoughts and I’m certainly not an expert in sports medicine, but I do know overuse injuries are common things and I’m just wondering, based on these past two years and seeing certain repetitive injurues on the defensive side of the ball, .if a sports medicine expert might weigh in to help educate Bills mafia if this might be a preventable situation. Again, always enjoy your posts. Hope the season continues to go great after an almost perfect start!
  2. Not trying to argue , but do you live in Florida or practice law in Florida ? I have lived here in Ponte Vedra , a suburb of Jax, since 1985. THERE is indeed a law in Florida regarding window tint and you can get a ticket , cited , for your tint being too dark. I own a sports car type vehicle , I only mention this as I have owned simple sedan type cars as well, and like it or not , sports car type vehicles draw more “ scrutiny “ , than other suv/ sedan type cars. Just saying , practically , that’s a real part of life in Florida. To even get your windows tinted in Florida ( almost everyone does it to protect the dash and other leather/ plastic from the damaging rays j down here all year long. To even get the next level just slightly darker than what is legal , I went to a shop and I had to specify, by saying the exact words , that I wanted the next level of tint and that I did know I was asking for an ILLEGAL tint to be applied , or the owner of the shop would NOT EVEN touch the car. He would not even say the words next level or illegal etc,,,he waited until I came across with the right phrase ( which included using the illegal next level ) of tint. I didn’t know I had to request this as this was the first sports car type I thought was worth protecting from the sun as I planned on keeping the vehicle for quite a while. The guy owns a shop right next to an exotic car dealer /repair shop in Jax called OMEGA motiorspotrs. I mention this cuz the owner and his wife have been patients in my practice for over 20 years and he told me he sends all his customers to this tint shop to get the windows done as he won’t do it in his dealership. He is a certified master technician for Porsche and was the manager of the garage of the largest Porsche dealer in Florida before he left to open his shop. He only works on exotic cars and he is well known in the area. He only works with very qualified other car technicians. My tint is no where near the darkness of the tint on hills car. You can still see the driver in my car , but it’s darker than what is LEGAL IN FLORIDA, , and I did it to help protect the dash as stated. So how do I know it’s illegal , besides having to ask for illegal tint to be applied.? I was driving home one early evening after seeing a patient in the er who I admitted. I live 20 min from the hospital , and on the way home I was honestly deep in thought about the case and I didn’t know I was being followed for at least 10 min by a trooper. When I finally noticed , it was too late as the guy had his lights on and pulled me over. He came up and asked me to roll my window down. Luckily I still had my white coat on and a stethoscope around my neck. He explained he was following me for ten min , trying to give me a chance to slow down before pulling me over ! I was honest and said I really didn’t notice him and I was apologetic for speeding ( I was about 15 mph over the limit) and I was just not paying attention as I was thinking about the person I just admitted. He appreciated the honesty, and also at that time put some instrument on my window and also told me my tint exceeded the legal level of tint allowed in Florida. I told him I had just purchased the car ( true., I got it from a close friend with only 100 miles on the car) and I bought it that way. So def a little white lie there as I had only owned the car a week and I did get the tint installed. Again , shen I did it . I had no idea it was a big deal and too dark was illegal. The trooper was amazingly nice , because I had been honest about not intentionally speeding , just not paying attention, and he gave me a warning only. He told me he could have given me a ticket for the tint , but because I was in a service industry like him , he wasn’t going to even put that on the warning because that meant I had to have it replaced within a certain time, 2 weeks I believe. The point is tho , there is a LEGAL AND HENCE , ILLEGAL LEVEL of window tint on Florida and he informed me you can be pulled over just for having too dark a tint on your windows in Florida. I have no reason to believe he or the shop that installed mine would lie to me. . I watched the police cam from HILLS CASE , ON FOX TONIGHT , and I can tell you that tint is way darker than what is on my car , so there is an ILLEGAL level of tint. As they said on Fox, when they pull over the car , there is NO WAY TO TELL RACE OR WHATEVER IS GOING ON.Behind THAT LEVEL OF TINT. All he had to do was comply. Of course the officer escalated things inappropriately, but if HILL had just not been breaking the law , and then acted like an entitled a hole , he would have had a simple ticket to fight in court. So, yes , there is a legal / illegal tint level in Florida and they carry an instrument to measure that in their cars. Hope that helps from a long time Florida resident. HE WAS VIOLATING THE LAW( speeding and above 10 mph above the limit , it is a criminal infraction in Florida that I have officers tell me then requires a court appearance , not just a ticket you can pay online). So if pulled over , comply , and realize the fact that with a tint that dark , they are pulling over a CAR ONLY, there is NO WAY TO SEE RACE , OR A GUN in a car and for officer safety they can legally ask you to roll down the window. I know if I’m pulled over , I’m being compliant and nice to avoid tickets, but also to avoid some crazy macho ,bad apple people you run into in any profession! . 😊✌️🥼
  3. Didnt need any , don’t think they got hit in that 56-0 drubbing. Wow, they are loaded with talent at the skill positions and that o line has all 6’5”:, 300 lb plus guys. They were just toying yesterday. Great to see. If Day doesn’t bring home that title now, not sure he will ever have a getter chance. Smith looks like quite the talent and those backs were fast but running thru huge holes. How nice was it to see the team from up north get hammered? I think the Bucks beat either of those teams yesterday. Just enjoyable/ relaxing to watch. Have no idea about the two mouth pieces ,, but they really looked dominant.
  4. Really admire him , but ( who could ever blame him) he seems to rely more on reaching/ arm tackling. and while he is not bad in coverage , sure not going to likely see Hyde/ Poyer type hits in the run game or denying YAC. Just thoughts on first glance. I don’t know how mentally a person ever really overcomes that ; I sure know I couldn’t . Now with another hard hitter in Johnson possibly , based on his inability to return today , out for a few games , the d looks more vulnerable to the run and tight ends or larger receivers. But Edward’s has to be getting closer to returning , as does the. Rookie safety , so that’s a help. Not sure they will make any change tho. Plus Lewis actually played well today. So with Lewis, and maybe Edward’s getting healthy, things could be ok until taron returns. They have some options, however, maybe they are happy with Hamlin after watching film. Hey the d kept them out of the end zone on a final drive with no dumb penalties, even after Bass gave them a great start. We got lucky Murray missed seeing a wide open MHJ! So we got a break there! It was special team and offensive line penalty issues that they managed to overcome today! Clean that up and this could be an offensive team that keeps improving! Lots of good things,,,,Groot looked good, von at least wasn’t a statue. The run game could be really good. Lots to look forward too, just a short week could be rough. Pretty great win tho! Overall got to be happy as this was type of game we often lost before. 😊
  5. Marvin Harrison Jr. becomes the fourth rookie in NFL history to put up 150-plus receiving yards in Week 1, with former Cardinals legend Anquan Boldin (217 yards in Week 1, 2003) being the only other rookie to do it over the past 40 seasons. With the Bills losing multiple key pieces on defense this offseason, Kyler Murrayshines while connecting with Harrison Jr. on multiple deep balls in Buffalo this OMG! Did anyone see this prediction for week one by one of the NFL NETWORK EXPERTS? I didn’t recognize her name but this was the first EXPERT PREDICTION posted on NFL.com. Guess not too many outsiders trust our safties, and being a long time buckeye fan , I have to admit this is my only legit concern as MHJ IS truly a stud and I don’t think his NFL debut will be too big for him. I just hope Mcd has them prepared enough to not allow this to happen and somehow let him run free by allowing MHJ to not be bracketed . I can live with other guys beating us , but please Mcd , don’t allow something everyone is warning / talking about to happen. Please don’t allow another SIGNATURE type loss is all I ask. Anything can happen in a season opener but that would be a pretty depressing start at a home opener. BTW, watching the Buckeyes up 56 -0 in the 4 th over western Michigan. Man, this is the most loaded buckeye team I have seen under Day! It’s amazing what 20 mil$ , and a portal can get you in college football! The freshman receiver Smith, was the #1 listed recruit in the country , actually is living up to his status as a dominant WR , and he looks to be just as good as MHJ right out of the gate ; dude can catch and has amazing speed. The buckeyes toyed with winning 56-0, having over 680 yards of offense and they just seemed to be running vanilla stuff. That o line is huge and looks like an NFL team. College football is now changed forever, and the Bucks look like they could beat any xfl/ufl type team. 683 total yards against a team that gave Wisconsin trouble last week !! Man I wish we could snag that receiver Smith somehow! I haven’t seen GEORGIA play yet , but it’s hard to fathom any other teams being as loaded as the bucks appear to be. Have to say I loved watching that team up north get wasted by Texas , but imo, the bucks would have laid waste to even the longhorns as the bucks just go 2-3 deeo at every offensive premiere position. Its just star after star. If Day doesn’t win a;national title with this roster , he will be unemployed! Anyhow , Mcd please don’t allow Murray to add another horrible memory to Bills mafias trauma bank, and for goodness sake , don’t let some NFL network “EXPERT” chick actually correctly predict that you allowed your team to be abused by a rookie at your home opener !! Go BILLS!
  6. Just wanted to wish you and all your usual tailgating friends a wonderful and a safe day and hoping it’s the start of a memorable season that ends with Bills loyalty finally being the lone group of satisfied fans at the end of February 9 th , 2025 !! Honestly, as it really is almost the ACTUAL time to start playing games that matter, here’s hoping the BILLS win that home opener so you go home happy, because those first 4 games are really a challenge to even begin thinking about January / February ! Heck yeah, just enjoy September 8 th ! In Mcd fashion , enjoy the process one game at time , and from one really old Bills fan , wishing you the best , which means finally hoisting that d@#n Lombardi trophy! 😊✌️
  7. Yeah , looked pretty painful as his ankle was forced down/ inward in a eversion or outward motion of his foot from the one look I saw. At first with that much pain , a fracture looked possible. But he was weight bearing walking off the field at the end , limping but mostly unassisted. That’s a great sign , but wont know fully till X-rays prove no fractures ( he could still have a fractured fibula on the outside of the ankle as it’s a non weight bearing bone ) , but seeing him be weight bearing is really the best news in that scenario. Plus the ligaments on the side that were most likely injured on the inside are thicker ligaments and less likely to tear. X-rays will be important and I don’t know if the NFL does an mri on every injury , but they probably will do one to assess the ligaments between the tib/ fib to search for high ankle injury damage you mentioned. Once the Adrenalin wears off and he flies, he may be seen in a non weight bearing situation for 1, maybe two weeks. He could be luckily with it just being a simple sprain ( could even play next week) , or if it’s fractured or high ankle , he could be out 4-6 weeks. Just ballpark. Main thing is seeing him weight bearing was a good prognosticator and hope the other diagnostic things turn out good. Packers lost but could have lost their season with under 10 seconds left to play. I’m glad beane brought in some insurance with white cus look at how close to disaster the pack came tonight. ( I am in no way diagnosing or giving med advice, just for educational purposes only for interested fans as a convenience to avoid time consuming searches. Just an opinion based on extensive experience 😊✌️
  8. Could do without the soccer like announcements after every play , and sorry but the play by play guys still sound like they belong calling a week one big 10 cupcake type game. The play isn’t bad but blackledge has the enthusiasm of someone dealing with travelers diarrhea! This just feels so forced by the NFL. Compare this to the excitement of last nights game.
  9. I pretty much agree with your thoughts , but that KC D LOOKED pretty darn good at times. Let’s see the bills finally get some strip sacks , and not get beat on the final snap, losing a lead , which we all know has happened too many times under mcd. I do think you have to have a good , top 10 ish D TO win it all. I agree our offensive support has been substandard supporting a talent like Josh. Really, it comes down to poor or failed drafting over the years as we still lack a talented , reliable rusher/ finisher, and we still have not drafted a proven star receiver to augment Josh. That could change this year, but I still think we can’t ignore the d,,,,,we’ve just missed on the d line. Again, I understand your point and it does have validity. ✌️😊
  10. Great points and analysis. The thing that continues to add context to how the BILLS ARE LOOKED AT WITH moves like this , and an inescapable fact is the way mcd / beane have managed this franchise has not only resulted in mahomes , worthy, even araiza , and also KC jumpimg beane in a draft forcing us to end up with Elam ,,,,, is the KC regime Has 3 Lombardi trophies , working on possibly an unprecedented 3 peat ! Meanwhile our vaunted braintrust , who I think are honorable, kind, reverent men , have continued to add to this franchises legacy of being one of the few franchises left in the entire NFL to have ZERO Lombardi trophies , and their moves certainly on draft day have AT LEAST NOT HURT , IF NOT POSSIBLY EVEN ENHANCED KC’s run as an elite team. They may be mentioned with teams like the 49’ ers, the Steelers, the Cowboys, and the old time Packers . When hired , they stated as their mission to bring a Lombardi to Buffalo, and while questionable drafting ( other than Allen ) and free agent moves having unfortunately turned into large sums of lost $ , and we have trended in the wrong direction having never even gotten back to the afc championship game. Meanwhile, the chiefs braintrust seems to continue separating themselves not just from the bills , who have the most visible 3 playoff losses to their recent “trading partner” , lol , the CHIEFS keep separating themselves from the other 30 teams as well. My point is if BILLS fans don’t want to hear , or feel it’s fair to be associated with the KC / worthy success and associated trades, then actually DO SOMETHING FINALLY; FINALLY WIN AT LEAST one championship , and build a legacy to talk about rather that being the poster franchise for futility! We are still the only afc east team without that trophy; heck even the former creamsickle BUCS who McKay wished famously to execute, have eventually won a Lombardi. Yes a once laughable franchise somehow found success! The worthy trade, deserved or not being laid at Beanes feet, plus all the other mahomes stuff etc , ALL GOES AWAY FOREVER if mcd/ beane finally deliver what they promised. JUST ONCE! Until that happens , even as a devout fan since ‘63, I can’t help but still see this braintrust as continuing to make questionable, and even at times , laughable moves that fuels the criticism they are getting. Heck , even the pats guy with the ridiculous haircut on the macafee show, stopped the show today, to loudly say every franchise should hate the BILLS right now. lol, man , macafee rarely allows his guys to be that outrageously negative about another franchise , cuz it like your dog crapping where he sleeps or eats; it just doesn’t happen when your livelihood depends on staying in the good graces of all franchises. Bills bring it on themselves and only they can stop it. 😂😁🤣🤡 Look prepared , start with a home opener win, let’s see the new progression Brady is preaching, how bout outcoaching a new head coach , and is it too much to hope to not be run over , get a sack or two , and not see MHJ out duel our Hyde/ Poyer replacements? And maybe we could even show off Coleman’s value in the redzone , and just that type of start will shut down most of the chatter! Let’s see some action , anything but a post game presser filled with “ I’m sure ______________ wants a few plays back”! ✌️😊
  11. Yet see the post/ poster immediately above yours who doesn’t understand how the stupid injection of politics into a shooting in San Francisco can be possible! Hmmmm ,,, I guess for some life exists in a bubble and every incident is totally unrelated to anything else . Must be amazing to live in a utopian world , kind of like back in kindergarten during story time. Maybe just pour some fairy dust on the bullelt wound or kiss it and it will all be black to normal! The P word influences everything , while family vacations are supposedly an escape from all that reality,,,but now we can see how once great cities now have apps / maps of areas to avoid ! Something changed all that over time,,,,I wonder what? Anyhow , hope he has an uncomplicated recovery and his lung function returns quickly enough for him return this year. He is really fortunate to survive a chest wound given all that could have been damaged. Best wishes to him and his physical and emotional recovery; ; sadly these cities are becoming places to avoid. Culture has changed so much from when I was a kid and we took a family vacation every summer to see different parts of the country and different cultures. Sadly, those days are almost completely gone. Safety is something you can’t take for granted any longer , and honesty, it never used to be that way. I’m just an old guy now so what do I know ?✌️😊. At least BILLS football is only a week away!
  12. Sorry , but looking at that as a final 5 and , if you don’t include the tight ends and what appears to be a better running game with Davis as a rising talent , and that’s a pretty unimpressive group to start a season with. 😳🙃. Mostly because of inexperience, injuries lingering, and just lack of time to develop chemistry against a team game planning , and again just on its own disregarding the tight ends , and at first glance that’s one of the least impressive wr groups they’ve asked Josh to work with!?! Not really a group that strikes fear into defensive coordinators , yet. I know it will get better , but honestly, the early games could be a struggle. Just watching the local buzz down here around the jags ( throw in their history of playing us tough , Davis and Morse ) and that game really looks like one that could slip away as an early game like last year. Preseason doesn’t mean much , but it doesn’t mean nothing either, and many times it can be an indicator of depth or possible chemistry if for example , like Jax , you beat an Atlanta team 31-0 with both QBs and both sides of the ball looking good. I mean , who would have bet serious $ at the end of last year and the way it ended , that this is the best staring 5 wr’s Beane could come up with? I’m a little shocked there are just no dominant names on that list and I hope it works out , yet once again it feels like Beane neglects to really work toward helping Josh reach his full potential . Maybe he will have a great year , it just seems hard to envision looking at that wr room. Was watching macafee a little today , and Lombardo made an interesting point. He’d said if a team reaches the number 52, which is the number of combined rushes and completed passes in an early season game , they tend to have more early success as that combination in his experience is indicative of a team that has had more success and hard work together at camp. Don’t shoot the.messenger; he was on with Pat talking about how hard it is to get a grasp on the early season contests , the first 4-5 weeks, and he came up with this combination as something to look for ( such as betting Trends) and said in his experience around the NFL for many years , this combo was an indicator of a team having worked harder or showing evidence of a better work load / “ harder camp” as he put it , and correlated with better early success in the very difficult to predict early games. Just something to watch with the bills the first couple of games perhaps? Well, looking forward to real games, but this just has enough questions and somewhat of a weird start with all the changes, that it seems like a very unpredictable season staring us in the face! ✌️🙃
  13. Lamb may not be “ the reason “ they flop in the playoffs , but what has he done to propel them on exactly , not much or if he was that dominant they wouldn’t be failing every year. I do see your point but I think you’re missing mine ,, belichicks , and possibly the only argument beane can fallback on,,,it’s not about superstars other than the qb position in a qb driven league . It’s incontrovertible that this is a qb driven league , or we wouldn’t be seeing KC looking to three peat despite their lack of star receivers. They have two other stars , kelce ( and it took until the playoffs for him to be impactful last year ) , and jones on defense. Most of their success is related to mahomes efficiency and Reid’s creativity , and they aren’t loaded with superstars , but like Belichick said , they plan to and do peak AS A TEAM in December and Janurary. They play well in all three phases including their kicking game ( another fact as we lost to them twice as our kicker was out performed by theirs). It’s hard to argue with BELICHICK ( 8 lombardies earned ) and another coach who has obviously had more success than any BUFFALO COACH , and that’s parcells. That’s who Belichick learned this philosophy from and was successful with , getting one of his lombardis at Buffalos expense in SB25 ( wide right!) It’s not about having superstars ( we should hope this is true as just like you stated , we don’t have stars yet on this roster other than the critical qb spot with Allen , and we might have one budding at the tight end position. BUT, we have had pro bowl players at safety , white, “ Edmund’s” , who were deemed by most on here as critical pieces to run Mcd’s scheme , and even they found out Beane had a cap for their perceived value ( so many argued on here that Edmund’s was a “ superstar “ with his supporters even threatening to fight if he was criticized ) , YET BEANE stayed true to his valuation of Edmund’s and bingo, guess who is in Chicago and not being paid HERE any outrageous sum?! Suddenly he was replaced by a more IMPACTFUL PLAYER, and all the fervor for Edmund calmed. Beanes drafting success is another topic, but he arguably has had chances to overpay , and other than free agents, he has been fairly consistent in setting limits. Jones has never been known for much restraint as a gm. So let’s see this year and next , when I believe their star LB’s contract is also due, if paying lamb that much actually results in some unusual ROI, like his best season to date associated w a SB appearance. In this one instance I am in agreement with Belichick; it’s not about superstars , it’s about which TEAM plays best in dec/ Jan, and I don’t think any NON QB touches the ball enough individually to be the noticeable difference that results in a bringing home a Lombardi. Let’s see if paying him like that helps bring home a title to Dallas; it’s just a difference in philosophy and I tend to agree with beane’s approach more; he just needs to add some more dependable talent for Josh to throw to fulfill his full potential, and not keep surrounding him with the majority of his receivers being guys that would be marginal starters on other clubs, like the two fins WRs last year. We don’t need 4 diggs types, and we also don’t need 4 Davis types. Beane hasn’t hit a good balance of talent regarding the wr corp for the majority of Allen’s 6-7 years here.
  14. Jones has truly lost his mind and obviously is desperate. Let’s be frank, biologically his time to get another title is running out. If you want to see a very interesting talk about paying players , check out belichicks video just posted on YouTube on the macafee show which is 35 min long. It’s a great insight into contracts and how to look at the early season and even his analysis of this ridiculous dynamic kickoff situation. Belichicks insight on contracts and preseason evaluations is really interesting , like paying a db too much in Atlanta. He believed you prioritize your best player , usually your qb , and you can’t create problems by overpaying others who might have good stats , but perhaps aren’t really true game impacting players. IMO, the COWBOYS have done nothing special with CeeDee , and without researching it , I think he tends to play soft and can miss time and it’s very hard to justify he is worth 34 mil a year. Bill quoted parcells saying “ it’s not about who has the best team , it’s about which team is playing the best “ , referring to December and the playoffs. You don’t need superstars , you need a TEAM , playing its best football in DECEMBER AND JANUARY.. I think this type of contract is an indicator of why the boys have continued to fall short of expectations. Jones wants to find his” aikman , smith , Irvin “ past and I guess he thinks by just paying his qb/ wr like those HOF’s, they will somehow play up to that type of worth. It’s become laughable, but at the same time a kick in the nuts to fans who are asked to support ridiculous ticket increases / psl’s etc , as it’s obvious these owners now are capable of printing money and it seems limitless when more of these insane contracts like we are seeing keep popping up. Atlanta and Dallas look like they have lost touch with reality, compared to Beane ( outside of the miller debacle ), even despite things like paying Bass perhaps too early and the diggs questionable ROI, he at least seems to have an equitable pay structure in place and you don’t see many holdouts or contract squabbles affecting the franchise. Bill also stated how the first few weeks of the season mean very little as you don’t really even know your own team yet , and I think this is really going to come into play with the BILLS. It takes time to learn your players and team, and he stated the preseason itself means nothing regarding really evaluating a players value to the team , as it takes 3-4 weeks of evaluation when teams actually are game planning and trying to attack certain players. That’s when good players show up in those 5 weeks early in the season. It’s after those weeks when you see which teams / players are really prepared to play. It’s an interesting 35 min with Bill , title on YouTube is BILL BELICHICKS BRUTALLY HONEST ASSESSMENT OF THE KICKOFF, CEEDEE CONTRACT , and its cool to see him relaxed, not hooded , actually sharing honest thoughts for once as it’s such a contrast from his usual pressers. Again tho , imo , these contracts are ridiculous ( Bill pointed out the Atlanta db HASN’T had an Int in 2 years! Yes he has pbu’s , but to BILL, that’s not as impacting as int’s.). Remind you of anything like those who valued Edmund’s so much for pbu’s or he “ prevented teams “ from throwing in an area ; yet tfl’s , sacks, ints and tangible impact plays were not his strength. Anyhow , I’ve Hated the boys since sb 27/28 , so hoping this is another flop move by Jerry and the boys keep proving he has lost his football mind! For us , no need to panic early , just keep figuring it out and be the best team ( including the kicking game ) in late December and January just one time! Go Bills!
  15. We lost Super Bowl 25 to sims backup. It could happen. Why settle for this terrible back up where you could lose a game if Allen just misses a few series , which has happened. Iwoulnt trust Mitch for even a couple if series. Ask bill polian how nit having a backup for manning worked out for him. He was fired. Backups do matter.
  16. Watching the KC / lions game with worthy , araiza , mahomes all looking good , with great Bills ties , and I think it can clarify your thought process , and throw bean in there too ! I can accept the qb , worthy things , but caving to the me too pc crap on araiza, really grates me as he boomed a 62 yarder and they are commenting his his hang time will be a big plus. Only good thing is with the qb, worthy , and their place kicker , araiza may not ever be used. Maybe we could trade for him!? 😁😇✌️
  17. Yeah but dreams don’t count! lol. When I was his age I was having vivid dreams , but none of them ended with a parade! I still seemed to be happy tho ! 😁😈
  18. QUIETLY IS THE OPERATIVE WORD! lol. , yep , people like mvs, claypool , cook have all been really quiet and one , if not the first two , won’t be hear so that’s about as quiet as it gets. 😊. Just kidding a little , but I called the claypool thing from day one if his signing. Bean has made some terrible calls/ chances , but this guy was a clown and never really was known for work ethic , just being a narcissist and diva. Mvs looking to be the second bad choice. Then adding these last two bodies , whivh I get are supposed to be camp guys , but if there are any injuries , who is Allen supposed to throw to or elevate? As the season gets closer , bean is looking like once again he refuses to take real steps to acquire more than just one actually good guy a year for Allen to throw to. Maybe Brady will be a genius play caller and creator , but will hold y praise till I see something actually look good against another team. 😊😎
  19. Ariza just kicked a 62 yard bomb , Meanwhile our punter keeps shanking balls and his holds add to bass becoming unreliable. ( man , I wish we had enough courage to stand behind a kid who had a great family , squeaky clean rep , at least until he was proven to have done something. This is why running a corp to be pc can backfire, just ask bud lite!).
  20. And so it begins. Worthy already with his first td reception for the chiefs who lead 13-0 against the lions. Can’t help but wait for our receiver to catch his first pass even. lol, the chiefs look good tho. Maybe we can make a deal to get ariza back as it looks like they won’t punt often between the o looking good and having a great fg kicker. Sorry , but it sure is a different vibe betwwn us and KC. We just lost Milano , not sure which wrs will actually step up, and they are talking three peat ! Has to make you question why we can’t turn the corner , why we traded w these guys , and If we have the right coaching regime. If we don’t compete for at least an afc championship this year, I think we have to consider fresh ideas as it sure looks like other franchises aren’t afraid to seek the best and don’t just stay in place. Araiza just hit a 62 yard corner placed kick with just a 19 yard return. Sure does make me ill that we gave up on him and folded to the me too movement. Another bills/ chiefs tie that binds us, in a bad way. 😏. Doesn’t help that the broadcast crew is singing his praises bout hang time , while we talk about hanging our punter and place kicker!😄😎. Just kidding ,,,, somewhat!
  21. Just a couple thoughts , but I bet there are studies available to answer this. Educated guesses : D players are running backwards or being pushed backwards which is not regular kinesiology, so you are stressing muscle groups in different directions than they were developed for against large resistences. Many of these injuries are non contact, like Achilles injuries and torn tendons from their attachments. Perhaps those chronic micro injuries take a toll Offensive players know the directions they want to go , are not reacting , and reacting causes greater strains on muscle groups / tendons with huge forces generated from suddenly slowing or changing directions or suddenly stopping against an opposing force hitting you. Again, reacting and sudden deceleration or acceleration puts tremendous stress on ligaments and tendons. You may be right about our scheme using smaller lbs and more dbs against large o lineman , large backs running you over and basic physics regarding force comes into play. Mass , acceleration or speed results in forces acting on you, and I’m sure smaller guys tend to lose those battles more than the smaller guy comes out on top. Offensive players have a warning many times they are going to be hit , so they can go down , slow down, change their body Angle to avoid full impact. D players do none of that. They keep going full speed , they try to hit with maximum impact , many times they get blindsided by blockers or they may have already made impact only to have one of their own fully hit them from behind , adding yet more force that comes w no warning. We all have seen d players miss hitting the offensive player who ducks , only to hit his fellow team mate and cause a broken long bone or head injury. Plus , it’s only been recently that spearing or using the head / helmet as a weapon has been outlawed and many times those spearing hits could end up hitting a teammate in a pile etc. D is about hitting to cause fumbles , knock players back to stop forward momemtum etc, you just don’t usually see d players slow down before hitting someone. The o guys can try to adjust impact by going down , going out of bounds , twisting to avoid impact. It just seems like basic physics regarding impacts that d players take puts them more at risk. I agree , luck is an issue. But overtraining plays a role. Both tre and Matt were recovering from serious injuries that required surgery and immobility of the injured limb. They still continue to train tho , and being very competitive, they may overtrain the other functional grouos and both interestingly were tendon ruptures on other prior healthy limbs. Matt was a safety turned into a lb. He has huge biceps and they didn’t get that way by not stressing against resistance , lifting large weights over time , and finally those tendons can tear as they don’t enlarge where they attach to bone while the muscles are enlarging much more His biceps probably doubled or tripled in size / force it was capable of compared to no tendon enlargement , and finally all that added strength ( force) of that growing biceps tears the tendon holding it to forearm. I’m not a sports med specialist or orthopedist but get some training in sports injuries in family practice. It would make sense that tre had modified or altered the use of his prior non injured limb. So his Achilles attaches two muscle groups to the back of the heel and bottom of the foot as the plantar fascia. He had a non contact injury or tesr, but this was at least a year of altered use as his other limb was the one with the torn ACL. Obviously he used the other limb more while rehabbing , and prob developed micro tears in his Achilles and it finally snapped. So training , altered use prob plays a role in these non contact injuries In addition , who really knows what these guys are willing to use , take , inject to keep earning huge $. I’m sure some guys know how to cycle to minimize detection and things like creatine that bulk muscles or increase training capacity may also play a role in injuries. Not accusing tre of using anything illegal , but I am sure some in the league have , as alzedo for example died from complications of years of anabolic steroid use. It’s been mostly eliminated but still every year someone’s urine has a banned substance. That’s prob an anomaly , but these are huge men with low percentages of body fat hitting each other, so it’s just natural to wonder ! lol! Just some educated guesses why the d may be more at risk. If I find time ( unfortunately I’m dealing with an undisclosed / unduagnised abdominal situation right now and just had two cat scans. Still looks like I need colonoscopy and may need surgery , so not feeling great and it’s hard to read a lot when you feel lousy. It’s so true , if you have your health , you have everything. 😊) I could see if a literature search has definitive answers because there has to have been some long term studies done!
  22. Look, don’t let these w rose colored glasses get to you. These are legit issues , and throw in guys underperforming like cook, bass , mvs,etc , and after that first game last week , 33-6 , you have to have some questions or it’s just burying your head. I don’t think we’ll know till final roster is settled , and we get 4 games under our belt. By then we will know if Brady , Allen and the o can operate with one really skilled tight end and a bunch of journeymen wr ‘s If some break out , we may have a good 10-11 win season. This d is a real question mark. They always underperform in clutch games , regardless of their stats that so many rely on to argue how great they are. But the fact is this regime has made just one afc championship game , and regressed to losing their last playoff game AT HOME! All the injuries were cited as the reason , and that was a factor.. Yet now many more guys are permanently gone and somebody has to prove they can step up at the safety positions, plus stay healthy now at the lb position as depth took a huge hit. , and even the dl has to stay healthy as they have had injury issues every year and they need to finally see if they can ever turn pressures into sacks! They are in this position of question because many if beans moves have not worked like he expected, and he complicated things by giving out huge contracts to aging players or to bass before he proved he was indeed the guy. Now he can’t be depended on and they can’t afford to cut or move on from him despite obvious struggles. So I don’t know how anyone can be totally confident ; the odds are against us as they have not even made a SB yet under mcd , and they have underperformed in all but one postseason where they blew their best chance in 13 seconds. Could they have a good year ? Yes. But now it’s results time , show me you can at least get to a SB, overcoming the d always choking when Josh left the field with the lead. I’m only stating facts,,,,,not opinion or arguments based on a team / roster that has yet to play a full real game together with two newish coordinators , and a real SOS that has better qbs than they often faced last year. Hoping they will be great ,,, but prove it for once! ( bears looking good , they have a vibe I would love to start seeing from the Bills ! That’s not hating on the Bills , just want to see them play w confidence and not play down to lesser talented teams as they have a habit of doing ). Go BILLS ,,,, LETS start having potential turn into results!
  23. Hope you have a great day. I’m originally from Ohio but right across the border from Pittsburgh. I grew up with all my friends loving the Steelers and the steel curtain. It was prime Steelers time and I was the lone Bills fan in my area. But I loved the area in the fall and around football season thru new years. Beatiful fall skies and trees and in winter the hills woul be covered w pristine snow and high lighted with beautiful decorations from Halloween thru Christmas with beautiful colored lights reflecting off the snow. I miss that so musc breung inn Florida , but it was the rust belt for a reason as the dying coal and steel industries killed gynecologists growth : just no jobs and hospitals were closing except right in Pittsburgh! But driving in that snow on those hills was no fun ; beautiful to look at but miserable to work or drive in. No better people tho or fans than in that area , just like BUFFALO , I would imagine as I have never been lucky enough to visit b- lo. So hoping you have a wonderful day, be safe driving , hope the bills start to answer some questions w some decent performance because another week like last week , and I think there are legitimate concerns popping up. ( watching the bears now and that qb Williams is for real, , dropping dimes and bombs on the run. Nowonder they so easily got rid of fields ! Guy is really accurate and Odunze is the real deal as well ). Just hope the d steps up a little agaist Wilson , as they need an emotional boost after losing Milano. I don’t care what the denial is goin on with posters who stated that he’s easily replaced, just listen to the players and guys who make a living following the bills ,,,that’s a big loss given All the positions in flux! This team ends some positives to temper all the news w Milano , cook, bass , mvs, claypool etc. Have a great day , go bills , I’m jealous but will be watching ! How do we pick you out? 😊👍👍👍✌️
  24. I agree. Some of this is just a lot of rationalizing just to make themselves feel better and thinking any player can just Be replaced because “ we won games without him”. Sure but football is still a team sport where chemistry and experience actually do count. If an injury was just in isolation , sure it’s easier to help cover the drop off of the 1/11 th of the guys who started. These guys become pro bowl players for reasons : first is raw talent and football intelligence. There’s a reason certain guys are pro bowl players or make the HOF. Denying there is a difference is irrational , these are guys who stand out and more often than others make plays that actually affect game outcomes. It’s pretty unusual to plug in a second year guy who has had little experience at critical times and not see some drop off. I don’t accept the Benard / Edmund’s analogy as emunds was way overhyped , rarely made any game changing plays , often made tackles trailing and never shot gaps or consistent with sacks. Bernard played well , but honestly , Edmund’s set a low bar. How great was Chicago last year with him ; easiest guy to replace on that defense. But the real issue is just as you pointed out. Football season is about attrition, the teams that are fortunate enough to be healthy come playoff time tend to be successful. Just look at us last year, or the BENGALS without BURROWS, Or the fins with Hill playing injured. It’s not just that Milano is down , it’s. Another blow to depth before anything even counts. You made a great point about Bernard and our other Lbs like Spector. . So far they also have not proven they can or will stay healthy. You’re right , they are under sized and I would bet none of them goes without missing at least a couple of games this year. So now we are dropping further down the depth , experience, talent pool. Pretty soon you are playing with guys off the street ,,,,hmm ,,, we’ve seen how well that goes. Not a single defenesive stop till almost the end of that KC game. But hey, we can just plug in the next guy ! The larger issue , trying not to miss the forest for the trees, is that this D roster has already taken huge hits in talent and leadership ; guys who have playoff experience runs in their past. Ok so now Milano , a pro bowler , get replaced by an athletic guy who couldn’t prove yet he was better than Milano. But this year we’re already missing White( luckily we picked up a VET, who is more physical than white , but he’s older as well and depended on the experienced safety duo to know how to play in this scheme. He has 1/2 year in this scheme , and has had injuries as he didn’t play well in the KC LOSS. Now throw in the loss of two 7 year starters , who also has pro bowl talent. Our current senior guy, rapp, was mostly a backup last year. Edward’s ,, expected to fill the experience gap, has been totally gone with injury issues. The talented rookie also. Is missing critical reps with injury and most reports from podcasters like Shout, reported he was still struggling Leaning the scheme , just as you would expect with a rookie. But Who now replaces Poyer ? Hamlin and Cam Lewis have both been on the field and looked terrible at times. Try telling me with a straight face that there will be no drop off in performance regarding the safety position , a position mcd has always stated is critical in his scheme. The losses of experience are adding up., the reality is this is a unique year and It’s no longer just about an isolated loss of Milano. Just looking at his injury is being beyond simplistic and disregards all the time these teams spend on effective communication! Our corners and nickel back have always missed some time as well , because they have more run support responsibilities in this scheme that rarely uses three LBS simultaneously on the field. Our #2 cb , also has had injury issues. Looks great while on the field , but I would bet he misses at least two games based on his past injury history. Suddenly , we are down to Elam , who may be better this year but still hasn’t earned a starting spot. Again , my point is in the ultimate team sport , our cumulative experience level keeps dripping or at least never rises to the level it had been at for years , and we have never made it to the SB, EVEN with our #2 ranked offense. Defense matters more in the.playoffs; it always has and it’s why usually the better defensive team wins SB’s. I learned that at a dinner before SB 27 in Pasadena , where Hank Stram ( previous KC sb winning coach famous for stating on NFL FILMS, keep matriculating the ball down the field , Lenny) He was a real interesting speaker but he won me over that year by predicting the upstart cowboys would dominate the bills in SB 27 based on a formula he developed that was heavy on defensive stats. Before the game I thought the game might have bypassed him , but nope , he was confident in predicting the bills would lose by more than two tds and he turned out to be right , much to my dismay! True story! So we have only touched on some of the legit concerns. . My point tho is offense can be good and win reg season games games , yet ours has many times failed to ne consistent. We have always had periods of the offense stalling , esp in the third quarter. Other than the year of the perfect game against the pats, ending with 13 seconds ( the one year I was really positive we were playing the best and peaking at the right time and we would win the SB , but then mcd took over!)., our O has commonly underperformed in the playoffs compared to their reg season success. Heck , last year we beat a bad Steelers team before our offense failed at home, needing a td ( rather than missed fg attempt) to beat KC and how did that work OUT ? So I don’t buy the statements that I don’t worry about the d, the offense will just win the games. We’ve had good reg season o, but still not even a SB appearance. Hard to win with just one functional unit playing well. I don’t even want to get into the issues with the offense. Almost a whole new receiving crew , and Knox being hurt already, and it takes time to develop timing and for the oc to know players talents enough to be creative designing plays. I trust josh but chemistry takes time , and injuries ( claypool) along with poor performance ( MVS , COOK STILL dropping passes) means this might be several games for that o to be efficient and effective. No guarantees there.! But Josh is great so they could be a surprise but I won’t believe it until I see some results and consistency with this group of wr’s. Back to the D. All these changes have to have some effect. I guess I could be wrong , but the BILLS cherished that stability and they didn’t just give out starting spots. I think we can all agree McD expects players to earn playing time, so guys are NOT starters for some performance reason. So lots of stuff going on in the back 7 , and now we also have a new defensive play caller / coordinator. It’s.a new challenge in Bobbie’s first year calling plays. Hey, even FRASIER had his play calling yanked at times so it’s just one more variable. Our DL has been consistently bad at finishing off sacks , especially against KC. WILL VON be an effective sack artist again? Epenesa has been progressing, but he’s another guy who can’t stay healthy. Groot is good , certainly not a premier pash rusher. We need more from him than just being good against the run. We have so many legitimate questions , I think is just looking thru rose colored glasses to think losing ANOTHER EXPERIENCED PRO BOWL PLAYER in not a big deal. The talent and experience considered as a WORKING UNIT that depends on effective communication to be a top unit has to be less effective with less experienced decision making on the field. That just seems like common sense. Just because we won prior games without him is irrelevant because we did not have all those other changes and losses all at one time in prior years and we mostly had healthy guys who were experienced playing together. Your point is the most important ; it’s another blow to depth and its unlikely we don’t experience more injures during the season. Pretty soon we are calling AJ BACK because there is a limitation to who you can plug in. Williams may have a bright future but it’s naive to think he could create the plays a healthy Milano did on his way to some calling him one of the best lbs in football. I get wanting to think that Josh is so good , he’ll turn new receivers into a scoring machine , but it’s a big ask against a tough schedule and I’m sorry , they have to prove they can be an effective o to me now. I guess it’s ok to say Milanos injury is not a big concern because he’s just a WLB, and that position isn’t important. Well, I saw him take over games at times , and no one I ever talked too thought Edmund’s was a better player than Milano. Saying Milanos injury means very little , everything is still the same , is just wishful thinking and it refuses to look at the loss of more experience without regard to context of where THIS TEAM IS NOW AT THIS POINT IN TIME ! If mcd can pull this off with a 11-12 win season, he could be a candidate for coach of the year! I wish we could look as Milanos injury as an isolated issue , but Bernard has said how important Matt was in helping see the d , and Milano has still seen more than Bernard and that can make a difference in getting off the field earlier on a couple of series. That spills over to getting Josh more possessions. He is an elite playmaker and even if we lost with him on the field , who knows if that loss was because of offensive turnovers , offensive periods of stalling out, and frankly many times watching the o play without urgency esp facing lower talent opponents. We can agree to disagree , but I think it’s akin to the straw that broke the camels back ,,,,,,it’ MIGHT BE too much loss of talent and experience to amount to a null effect. I wish he was there to help stabilize this d.
