I was wondering your opinion on whether you think some of the penalties are occurring as josh sits quite awhile at the LOS, trying to use his hard count several times, and it seems to interfere with the lineman coming off at the snap aggressively and also sets them up for false starts. Seems like he uses this tactic much more now with no crowd present. Just a thought and value your observations. I also think Brown, who has more experience in this offense than everyone except Beasley, being absent is a huge detriment to this offense being run effectively. Perhaps when he returns at full health , the offense will approach what it was the first four weeks. I also think incorporating more running plays would effectively simplify things without limiting the type of formations and plays to draw from. What do you think?

I don’t think it’s sound strategy when you give 32 plus min in time of possession to the other team and never have the ball long enough to get into any offensive rhythm. Also those who keep saying this was successful because the Chiefs didn’t get their usual act plus 30 have flawed logic. The Chiefs TOOK what they NEEDED TO WIN , and they were never seriously challenged. They successfully passed when THEY NEEDED TO or WANTED TOO, and at the end they just passed for the game clinching fg with never any serious doubt that they couldn’t score almost on command. How many 4 th downs did our vaulted strategy force them into,,,,, oh yeah ,,,, one on 4 th and inches which they converted with blowing the line off on a 9 yard TD run. This was never close to being a sound strategy. They took what they wanted to WIN,,and Reid was way ahead of McDermott. Mcd is not a good big game coach. He is a perfectionist, and perfectionist’s flaws lie with needing to change just for the sake of change/ adjusting , they have to always tinker, adjust , and over and over Mcd over analyzes and these ever changing game plans keep his team from playing fast, aggressive football. They had 4 good games as a passing team, spreading the ball around. The change in D caused a huge TOP deficit that carried over and ruined the offense. Mcd has 3 plus years of a record now and it’s around .500 as he beats bad teams and loses playoffs, majority of games against winning record teams, zero wins against the Pats, loses home games more than he should, tinkers with both lines just to tinker it seems ( after seeing tonight I can’t imagine what Murphy / Harry did to deserved being inactive given these results. who sends messages like this ? Perfectionists) He was completely out coached and no one will be crediting him with some amazing strategy, they are laughing at the moment just as the Chiefs were post game. We were never really in this game; the chiefs controlled the game as there are no moral victories because they scored less than usual. I love mc d as a culture / process guy. Good for human growth , yet he so far is an average game day coach. These are just the FACTS based on results up till this moment. Josh changed his game/ accuracy, maybe Mc D will become a better big game / playoff success type coach in time. FAILED STRATEGY TODAY ! 😉😀😊🍺

These two weeks and the four prior are about coaching. First month we dictated all offensive play with good gsme plans and execution. Then we play two legit contenders with good coaching and instead of sticking with what we are , we change coaching, game plans offensively, to react to them instead of playing like we had. The d also goes to deep drops, Lbs 8 yards off LOS, with no pressure , no spy’s on mobile qbs. No adjustments at half. Still no offensive plans in third quarter to allow us to score (. Maybe no huddle?) Finally late , down two possessions we speed up tempo , score but cow has left the barn. We all knew we wouldn’t get the ball back before they were up by 9 or more. No adjustment by Frazier/ Mcd REID DICTATED THE GAME. Never felt we were in it and announcers pointed it out. Mcd is looking like a 500 coach , he has NO playoff wins ( one was a bad blown lead) , NO win against the PATS. SO FAR, , NO wins against AFC contenders. ( raiders would beat us right now ) as Mcds schemes on d have been figured and countered. This is becoming a hard to deny pattern. Mcd goes conservative in bigger games and heis always out coached. Just the facts. A win against the Jets won’t fix this. Concerning history is developing. Hard to fully embrace our early success. imho.

You actually nailed it on the head. Was going to post similar but you are spot on. I don’t get the sudden urgency at the end when it was missing all game. This staff is always a day late and dime ( spy, run blitzes, cbs creeping in late etc, ) short. Fanboys will be we are 4-2 , be happy. Big issue is we will not challenge for SB like this and Pats or fins may take division. Not impossible against team that can’t stop run or scheme well.

Didn’t see anything on Knox regarding practice but just saw on NFL network that he is listed as out with a calf injury. Is that true? If so this continues to be. a frustrating season from him / for him. Lots of nagging injury issues this year. Not feeling great about our o line with all the shuffling and seeing the run blocking looking quite bad; just saw Cynthia has us losing 27-25. After Tuesday it’s difficult seeing how we keep it that close as we let Tenn score 6/6 in the red zone, which is horrid even given short field etc Also since Frazier is ok with Edmunds playing hurt, I could see Mahomes dropping dimes to his TE all day after play action right around, behind, in front of, and over our LBS. 5 games with the D regressing reminds me of our backing into the playoffs last year. I don’t think we can have any confidence our d will keep it reasonably close enough to allow Allen to pull it out in the 4 th ; hope I’m wrong. Our only chance lies in no turnovers and grabbing a couple from them. Let’s see how we respond.

Looking at his choice if the Chiefs says a lot. He wants a shot at a ring WITHOUT beingThe primary back. Fits with his present performance, he didn’t want to be THE guy or Miami would probably have been very attractive. I think he knows he is not the same back that was in Pittsburgh ; if he was still confident there is no way he would settle ,given his ego, to just be a role player getting 8-10 touches a game which is the likely scenario in KC. The big concern in my eyes is what does this say about Moss’s health. Why go after Bell ,who would have had to be released.? Jones, Yeldon, or is Moss close to IR with a nagging injury? I see this as concern because if they have faith in Moss, why go after a struggling vet back who has.not produced in three years? We all see the glaring CB , LB DL issues that if not addressed or miraculously improve will drag this team down, so it does raise a red flag perhaps about Moss that Mcbean felt they had to kick the tires on Bell. I think Bills being first out says they were looking for possible insurance if Moss’s injury drags on.

Relax. They can’t even get in their building until at least Saturday. So it’s one day and they have 4-5 and perhaps more players who may be out because of COVID. Hardly any advantage. If any more people test positive , for example on Saturday or Sunday after they have been allowed back in the facility, they may lose even more practice time as the place is disinfected. Also it’s early In the season and the titans are missing valuable reps and a week of actual game play that can’t be simulated. The Bills , who need to sharpens their defensive schemes get an extra week of competition to prepare for he titans run game. So other than routine risk of injury , the Bills actually are in a better place and this FSU be seen as a positive for the Bills. No big advantage for the Titans ( plus it’s possible even the bills titans game could be postponed if more titans test positive ) , so just take a deep breath , wear a mask as they work, and worry about the Raiders which is a much more realistic competitive issue than any competitive perceived advantage for the titans. The titans have beaten up , barely, on weak teams and Having watched our offense , I am pretty certain we will go in as a favorite and I see them as much less of a threat now than what I was expecting prior to the season . Friendly PSA as a dr with 40 plus years of clinical practice , look up the math plus protocol from eastern Virginia Med school and dr Marin. Very good advice from a great clinician (. Check his lecture on YouTube ) who published a well documented and received protocol for prevention and treatment, which myself and many colleagues are following as ONE method to reduce risk of getting and treating COVID. ( I am at risk being 63 and a PCP) THIS is a terrible virus that I would wish on. No one and I just mention the math plus protocol to look at because I hope all Bills mafia stay healthy and not everyone has time to keep up with all the studies and current therapies. Ferreira in the booth as prior head of officials said it was an erroneous call. No other Option. He hit the ground with his butt as he had the ball. Cstch with possible offensive interference is only correct call. And offensive pi was a hard sell imho.

This is a good point and shows a trend. How many blowouts have we seen mcds defense give up over the years. And all the times it has been horrible run defense with our middle being gashed. How many times have we had to bring in players to help stop the horrific run defense!? I know we have seen this at least twice in mcds tenure. This time we fortunately didn’t lose because of such an improved offense but this is not a consistent way to win Needing 4 th quarter comebacks weekly. Let’s hope this is not another 3 game stretch to get the run d corrected. Edmunds , if he was hurt should have been subbed. He was awful other than one hit. Trey also looked lost at times. Something is wrong with the scheme or communication. Rams are good but they came back from 28-3 and once again we should have easily cruised from that point. The terrible interception changed momentum but we still had an 11 point lead after that. Hard to explain that collapse but we have seen this too many times with this D. Remember Houston? No lead is safe with this situation. Is it Frazier , Mcd, or lack of leadership by vets? Not sure but this takes the luster from an amazing offensive performance. Maybe just an aberration,,,,but if it persists I bring up Zimmer , love, and consider more Dodson. Doubt we have cap space to add from outside. Great win but definite red flags. Btw, Wallace did have a nice pick in first half. Our d line was getting some pressure early but that disappeared in second half.

I have to admit I am a little skeptical that McD has addressed the O enough to keep up with KC , RAVENS, and even the Titans who also got aggressive with their D by adding Clowney. New O additions of Diggs , and three rookies ( Moss, Davis, Gilliam ) , with a tight end room with Knox being the only one with much upside and an o line basically unchanged, does not show a great deal of change that will guarantee , IMHO, a vastly improved offense that can score more than 19 points a game. McD , who has had great success with his D, continued to bring in more support with adding several proven defensive veterans and even opted to take Epenesa when JK Dobbins had fallen into our lap (a 2000 yard proven rusher from a major conference who was immediately nabbed by the Ravens to bolster their already impressive rushing attack), appears to keep his emphasis on defense even after we are seeing the leagues more successful franchises featuring very productive offenses. We can’t ignore KC’s ability to score and they added even more fire power to their O. The road to the SB will most likely go thru KC or Baltimore for the AFC teams as I see the Bills as a 10/11 win team given the schedule. We still have zero playoff wins with McD ( love the guy and love his culture, but he needs improvement as losing a 16 point lead in the wild card game reflects on a need for game management improvement ), and I am not sure just adding Diggs and three rookies ( 4 if we include Bass) in a COVID shortened season translates to more offensive success on the road against already proven offensive juggernaut franchises. We did also lose to Baltimore at home last year so we can’t just downplay them either as I routinely see little mention of them as a team we might have to go thru to get to the SB. So, did we do enough on O? Not sure until we see if Allen can progress as I am hoping he does , and I also have to see if Daboll can use Diggs and Moss creatively in a way that matches all the preseason hype. So far McD continues to be very aggressive with addressing his D, but I am not sure he has done enough to get the offense up around 24/25 points a game where we can actually be a bona fide Super Bowl contender. Peter King suggesting the fins take the division is ludicrous, but we are not locks to knock off KC, TITANS , RAVENS , and the SB is really the ultimate goal. It’s about to get real!

Wow thanks for posting that. It’s absolutely startling to see those strung together from supposedly “professional “ receivers! I don’t know how Josh could ever trust throwing to Zay or Foster any longer, except he was not provided with any other options! It still amazes me how long jones was kept on and it certainly makes me think after foster disappearing as a receiver last year that if any of the draft picks can be an effective gunner ( not difficult imho), he will be off the roster. We didn’t miss him in the playoff game ( I don’t think he was active was he? ) so I don’t see how he makes the roster if any of these new guys can catch ( not becoming Zayisms themselves) . It sounds like McBean will no longer tolerate that type of ineptitude and rightfully so when this is a critical year to determine if Josh will be our long term franchise Qb, which I firmly believe he prove himself to be with a true #1 receiver In addition to cutting his fumbles. After seeing a video like that it’s no wonder we can’t score points effectively. Pretty revealing video and point by OP documenting how badly Allen has been hurt by drops.

Hope he stays away from Pats, we need a break. Dalton would be instant starter in Jacksonville, should easily beat out Minshew the mustache! Odd that they didn’t draft a qb, doubt they will stick with a 6 th round pick long term with no competition. Hope this happens just to keep him out of our division and away from pats. No way is he coming to B lo after we used a 5 th for a long term back up solution.

Hey Joe, post draft Beane admitted he tried to trade up in 3 rd round as much as 7 spots. However, the other gm procrastinated until 2 min left on the clock and Beane pressed him because if clock ran out another team cold have jumped them for moss defeating the. Trade. So the trade fell thru, not because of Beanes restraint. He talked with others who also delayed and stood on their pics. Actually Beane admirer he got lucky moss was there or as he said “ I would not have been in the same mood I am now “. I am in minority I know, but this is why I didn’t like the espensa pick that much. Dobbins was right there for the taking , a 2000 yd, 3 down back who is a good receiver. ESpenesa fell because of lack of quickness , 31 other teams who also love edge rushers and no one pulled the trigger. He may turn out ok but we have other edge guys from free agency and last years pics so I am not sure we will see the same production from espensa he had in college. Maybe, but dobbins was rated the # 1 back on many boards including the ravens asmststed by Harbaugh who was relieved to get him. He was good enough for the ravens who had the #1 rushing attack last year as having watched himthe past two years, imho he is a special talent. On the other hand moss is a change of pace, bruiser those unlikely to break long runs but does break many tackles. He is a good addition , but not as good as dobbins , and should motor go down , I am not sure moss is a 3 down back and Beane said this much. He was very honest in post draft interviews. I love Beanes work here and really like most of his pics and he is very good at free agency. I just wonder if this may come back to haunt us similar to passing on mahomes ( trust me I do love Allen here now tho, but mahomes I’d very special), as we may have to go thri the ravens for the SB, and I dread thinking of Dobbins running thru us for a win. Only time will tell. But Beane admittedly got lucky with moss being there and if we w didnt land moss, espensa and not having an adequate 2nd rib ( also Beane said we will always be a RB by committee and “ clubs usually don’t have workhorse backs any longer” ) would have made this an average draft imho. Love the rest of the pics with exception of fromm only because I thought it was too early for a definite backup qb whose strength is on the meeting room and not necessarily on the field with a noticeable weak delivery as stated by several draft analysts watching him at the combine. Great wr pics, and kicker looks solid. My thinking on JK was bring him in and see who wins starting job as it not like Singletary is firmly entrenched for years as the starter. But Beane was not showing restraint as he tried to trade up and then maybe we don’t get Fromm, a kicker or secoond wr this in the draft as he was offering a 6 th or 7 th pic as he vaguely admitted too. And this is proof why we need professionals sometimes having to dictate behavior for their will always be those who because they can’t see it , don’t believe it is there or will ever affect them. We have very little ides of who has had it , who may be asymptomatic carriers are this point ( may be as high as 14-15% in some communities ), and therefore one has little knowledge who to avoid or who should still be in quarantine still to avoid endangering elderly , those with hypertension , diabetes etc. One player lost his grandfather 2 weeks prior to the draft to covid 19, and we are just beginning to see new infections level off ( not disappear!) so having these groups of people MAY indeed cause some to lose more if some at risk people get unknowingly exposed. I hope it doesn’t happen, but hoping will not prevent it and people should not drop their guards as this virus will be around in waves over the next year. And I know you are thinking, well it’s all young people at these gatherings, and covid is no big deal for the young. Unless you happen to be one of the 20 , or 30 year olds that did die, and realize that 55% of hospitalizations are in the age group from 20-50. My point is don’t feel sorry for what little “ has been taken “ from these players as they can still lose much more valuable things ( like grandparents ) by making seemingly harmless decisions to group together before wide testing or a vaccine is available. No time to let your guard down, it is still dangerous for many people. Hope your family is well and safe tho!

Pretty sure OP meant last year. He is correct as Williams gave up 12 sacks last year which was the worst of all guards. His best year was 2017 where he rated out as a top 5 RT. Had injuries and moved to guard which apparently didn’t turn out well. Perhaps he will compete for backup at RT as I doubt he will beat out Ford unless he returns to his 2017 form.

It’s still playoff football in the best league available so I will always take that over a substandard product trying to compete or mimic it. One thing will always be certain, viewers will always be in control of their own tv and viewing habits. So if someone is that concerned over one more playoff game, don’t watch it. I did that with the xfl crap before our unfortunate novel virus epidemic and I haven’t lost any sleep over not watching it. Hoping this improves the Bills chances next year with what looks like a challenging schedule. ?

Still had double teams in prior games and his performance tapered off. Ok , maybe disappear was not good word choice for Clemson , but while credited with pressure in stats , he did not make impact plays relative to all the hype. Clemson qb ran in areas he vacated with his speed rush outside. He made a couple of good plays in that game but I don’t think he is the best or second best player coming out. Heck LSU’s d line making more plays tonight. Bosa seemed to make plays more often and he drew attention away from Chase when he played for the buckeyes. The Ohio state d had an unimpressive final two games ( saying this as a buckeye fan, from Ohio , did all my college in Ohio etc so biased toward them ) and the results spoke for themselves. He did make a lot of plays early In the year and was dominating games with strip sacks etc but his production tailed off. I’m not looking up stats but watched every Ohio state game for years, and his play was not the same after the suspension. Despite the “ pressures” , I’m sorry , but the Clemson qb did whatever he wanted and I can’t remember any momentum changing plays from the d line in that game. I see him as a good pro but I still think bosa will be better. Time will tell. Being from Ohio , I would have to think you were unimpressed with chase and the d in that game , no? ?

Chase young. Watched all his games for two years. Good end. Don’t know why he disappeared the last few games after his suspension. Was also absent in Clemson game. Speed rusher. Don’t see lots of other counters. I am a Ohio State fan and honestly he no where near bosa ( 49 ers edition) just based on later part 2019 season. Maybe he will blossom in the nfl but I think he is overrated. Saw him neutralized quite often last season. Would take him at 22 tho!

Interesting debate thread; I just wonder how most people will feel IF Mcd sticks with the same roster ( no duke , Yeldon , Sweeney as Foster, L Smith , and DiMarco stay active ) and we happen to lose 18+ vs our 17 point production that we have even struggled to produce the final month of the season. Yes , imo it is a successful season overall with team , roster improvement etc, but is a one and done playoff appearance acceptable for a Staff with its second playoff appearance in a season where the AFC title is not a forgone Pats certainty ? We all now expect to keep making the playoffs in the future but why let an opportunity go by when just perhaps taking some roster “ risks” could have a huge payoff given our D consistency? Many have advanced the argument about not losing special team efficiency by removing a gunner , Foster, who we might all agree has had little to zero offensive impact. I think his role is being overstated. I have watched every game , play , and Imo our field position battle is mostly dependent on our punters effectiveness. Rarely has the gunner determined the outcome of field position. I would argue if we are so concerned about returns that we have to keep a roster spot just for Foster, why not take the returns out of the equation and punt directionally to eliminate returns? Other teams do this and if there is a chance we can add one more weapon for our anemic pass production ( we are what 24, 25 th in the nfl ?) in a one game win or go home scenario, I would favor that. How about some creative special teams coaching, and do something the Texans don’t expect. Do I think Mcd will “ stay in the foxhole “ as another poster coined an analogy, unfortunately yes. I hope I am wrong and Mcd has the courage to take a small risk for a possible large return. One and done with no attempt to help this offensive lack of production would feel like a let down and would raise some concern about if our staff can adjust to produce a super bowl winner, contender consistently as is their mission statement. So I don’t see adding Duke at the expense of Foster or a safety as scrapping our prior whole season of special team or defensive game plan. What I am suggesting is that this offense, based on the last month, is not capable of winning without a stellar defensive game, and now we face teams who have shown they are capable of easily putting 20 plus up even despite the best defenses. I don’t see us winning in the playoffs with less than 20 points. I would love to see us take a chance to jump start this offense with more creative play calling ( how bout another Smoke td pass), some unexpected personnel moves ( Duke , Yeldon to active squad ) , urgency to score ( only one td on our opening drive in 2019, can’t we script more effectively early to help Josh?), go deep more like the 2 successful plays against the pats, be willing to throw some 50/50 balls if we get in the red zone because fgs aren’t going to cut it, knock off the predictable first down handoffs to Singletary plunging into the line, etc. One person I wouldn’t mess with is Roberts ; he may not have returned any for tds yet but the guy is money on punts and he never lets the ball hit the ground. That alone always helps us win the field position battle and he has been close to breaking it in several punt returns. So, we all saw what Yeldon , Sweeney, Williams did against a good jets D. Williams caught the game winning td against the Titans yet has barely seen the field since. It’s all on the line this Saturday and if Mcd sticks with keeping all those options off the table and we should lose because our O fails to produce again, will you be satisfied that “we showed we could play with them and it came down to that last drive”? Hey , a loss is a loss and you still go home for a long off season. I think this is a winnable game IF we step up to “ championship caliber “ coaching and chance to win , not to just not lose. Willing to be humble, rejoice if the process stays the same and we win a low scoring ( offense scores less than 20) game, but I think a few tweaks and we end up in the AFC championship!

Not trying to be difficult but ; giving a running back who is avg. over 5 yds a carry 8 touches is by definition bad play calling ! 0 targets for your highly paid free agent TE is by definition bad play calling or bad game planning and speaks to a lack of identity for the offense playing foster over Williams and then targeting him once or twice is again bad game planning. Having your kick returner suddenly getting more targets than foster and expecting him to suddenly be comfortable catching the ball under game pressure is bad game planning and bad play calling. never scoring points in the third quarter speaks to bad game planning, again what is this offenses identifying principle? Can you define it ? When your slot receiver is the sole deep target on a critical down, game planning is questionable and again what is the philosophy of the passing game plan? It’s not productive and scoring 14 points is not GOOD or acceptable and the OC is responsible for the game plan. When your offense is confused and huddling as the clock runs down in the game defining drive , that is poor preparation and speaks to poor coaching. Isn’t Daboll responsible for the offense in that situation ? The product speaks for itself. If you think it’s just on Josh , isn’t it the OC s job to design an offense around the capabilities of your given talent ? I agree Josh is a work in progress. Daboll has a history of poor performing offenses and this is just another notch in his belt, by now he is what he is. Josh at least has a chance to develop. There is something wrong with the chemistry between daboll and Josh as the product now doesn’t work. Much easier to try a new OC than draft a new QB. Just like whisenhunt was responsible and dismissed its time for Mcd to salvage this situation imho.

This was a horrible loss and continues the trend of inexplicably poor offensive production. The playcalling is abysmal and we have no identity from game to game. How do you explain not using your very productive young back more than 8-10 carries ? How do you keep having a TE (Smith ) playing who commits more penalties than times he has touched the ball? How do you explain a free agent TE ( Kroft) who is a ghost in the offense? How do you keep an OC where the offense can’t score in the third quarter; keeps going to empty sets on critical downs when the line is not holding up; keeps placing the o in situations where they commit holding penalties that either stop drives or knock you out of or into poor fg position; keeps being so situationally unaware that you waste time on a final drive where you should be trying to win rather than go to OT, and the list could go on. Unfortunately the d also has issues when we start games slowly, still struggle with the run , and they failed to generate any pressure on the game deciding drive allowing mayfield to drive them easily down the field for the winning score. This really has the look of a “ bad” 6-3 team and it’s going to be hard to stop this season from falling apart. Looking at the schedule, the fins look better offensively than when we last played them, , and who has faith in the stretch of games involving the Cowboys, Ravens ,Steelers , and Pats? It hurts to think this but if they don’t make some drastic change with the O, I could easily envision this team only beating the Broncos and Jets on route to a very depressing 8-8 season. For all the good McD did with getting us to the playoffs in season one, he maybe seen as just another Bills coach who blew a good start unless he can get a handle on this offensive debacle. I hope I’m wrong about my outlook but today’s game proved its not only about the W-L record as many only chose to look at , but also how you played en route to that record and what is the true identity of the team as you progress thru the season. This loss identifies us as a pretender with no unified offensive scheme and it will be interesting to see what direction McD chooses. Critical stretch for the franchise is upon us with no easy answers. Just a terrible loss today.imho.

I really liked Allen’s play today. No big issues BUT two things. One was taking an unnecessary sack in red zone that killed a drive. Easily could have thrown it away but just froze and took a bad sack. However , no throws stood out being a bad throw into traffic etc. Two, he has to get this ball security issue behind him, or under control. It cost us dearly against the eagles and almost did today. He did juggle the qb sneak he scored on but made a nice recovery before it squirted out. I only mention it because he did fumble carrying the ball later and while we recovered it, it easily could have turned momentum again in a game that was a one possession game deep into the fourth quarter. He has to be cognizant now that teams will try to hold him up on first contact as they wait for a second guy to come in attempting to strip the ball. It is what it is once you get a rep for fumbling. Tiki Barber struggled with fumbling at one point in his career and Coughlin was close to benching him if my memory serves me. Coughlin really had him work on three point contact security and it turned his fumbling around. This issue is just as important as not making hero throws on plays that are dead. He has shown he is coachable and can change his tendencies so hopefully coaching solves this. I really love the guys competitiveness and his love of his team, leadership qualities while being humble and never throwing teammates under a bus as they continue to drop a Significant rate of passes he rockets into their hands. Get this fumble thing under control, get the o line settled and stable , give him a legit deep threat with an O coordinator who doesn’t keep being cute at wrong times , and Allen will be a consistent winner. I think he is a great fit for Buffalo; he is a good guy you can be proud to be a fan of and I hope he doesn’t let the fumble issue hold him back. Good win today despite run d issues; looks like we have our RB , QB for near future and need a young talented ANDRE REED type guy to grow with, and the Bills will be back in the Super Bowl hunt.

I think this is the most comfortable I can remember feeling about a Bills win in quite some time. I am an Ohio state follower/ fan and watched Haskins every snap the year he played for the bucks. Here are a couple observations ( also it is the worst time to be playing the Bills after that debacle last week, they will be focused on correcting things and they know they need to win these home games if they really believe the playoffs are possible ) ; Haskins is a very accurate passer in a clean pocket. However, with people around him he rushes throws and I think he will continue to get rid of the ball early as he has done previously because he plays very “ soft”. This guy doesn’t like contact at all. He was easily rattled after early pressures in games for the Bucks. He had a good record because his receivers were very good and for the most part the bucks did keep pressure away from him. The Bills should not just let him sit back and only rush 4 playing conservatively because if given time he can make all the throws and that’s the scenario that he might be able to hurt us in. . I hope they take a page from Beli chick and send guys often. They don’t have to sack him but just get close and his contact adverse nature will result in opportunities for 2-3 picks. Haskins is not a really fast guy and he doesn’t have great elusiveness. They did run RPO ‘s at Ohio State with him but he was reticent to carry the ball. Finally close to the end of the year Urban had to emphasize he really needed more production running from Haskins and he had one productive game but quickly reverted back to avoiding running if possible. This is important for our d, as we won’t have to worry about Haskins taking off out of the pocket like Wentz did to us. I think this is even more reason to send blitzes more as even if we break gap integrity Haskins will pull up and throw even with clear space in front of him. I just doesn’t see him hurting us with his legs , so the bills DB’s do need to stick with their coverages if he manages to get outside of the pocket. I think this falls into our defensive scheme strength and is a great matchup for us this week. Haskins has one year at Ohio State and just that limited experience at a college level speaks to how unready I think he is for the pro level. I really liked him at Ohio State but it was obvious he needed to stay at least one more year to help his development. It’s a shame he couldn’t see that and went for the money so soon. He does have a very good arm but he lacks emotional maturity just because he is so young and he was not perceived as a strong leader compared to JT Barret who had preceded him. He was used to playing with the the lead and he did not project the feeling that he would bring the team back from early deficits. I think he had one or two really close games that year and I think there was just one situation where he helped lead the team to a win after they got behind ( I admit this is my overall impression as my memory is a little stale and I didn’t feel like going back to check all the box scores, but I think I have this right ?) Let’s hope the Bills and Daboll can finally jump on a team and make them play from behind. We haven’t done that much this year, so like others have written it would be a huge red flag concerning their playoff hopes if the Bills struggle offensively once more and continue with pre snap penalties and terrible game awareness playcalling. The only way I see the skins staying close is if Josh continues his fumbling and falls into lapses of hanging onto the ball Too long while standing flat footed in the Pocket in the face of unrecognized blitzing lbs or dbs. His pocket awareness needs to be good and if so I think he leads the Bills to an easy 24-7 victory. Let’s go Bills.
