  1. Congrats! That was an amazing and thorough analysis and was one of the best predictions I have seen or can remember on this board ! Really appreciate the highlights you provided and this guy looks exciting and should have a good shot at making the roster. Really , really good job and demonstration of your football knowledge and original thought process. Lots of opinions and “ experts “ on here , but not many back up their thoughts with facts and then putting all that together to actually get both the player and value / round to fall in line with the teams own thought process and analysis. Great job and you have earned the credibility title up until the 2022 draft! Really nice job ! 👏👍👌
  2. I respect your knowledge and know you have been a long time fan as I have ( myself from the 60’s) and I admire this front office so far. However , there is no way to compare them to a front office that placed 4 players in the HOF ( and I think Tasker and Bisquit deserve to be there as well) , had a HOF coach in two different leagues , placed the Gm himself in the HOF, won 4 straight AFC TITLES going to an unprecedented 4 straight Superbowls, managed to keep those teams driven despite their success and brought a sense of pride to Western New York that didn’t reappear ( related to the Bills) until last year. Yes , there was no free agency but for the Bills still to be the only team to go to 4 straight Superbowls and watching the Pats own the division for 20 years with their core intact yet could not repeat that accomplishment, speaks volumes of that front office and organization while dealing with a known frugal owner by many accounts. Polian also repeated his success in Carolina and Indy, so in my eyes Beane is just starting out and still has much to prove. The d line failures and lack of a run game that kept us a significant step behind both KC and Tampa are errors that you just can’t chose to be in denial of and say there were no issues with this roster and team building. Are they headed in the right direction ; it certainly looks that way but let’s see how we do next year with both KC and Tampa to play during the regular season. In the playoffs we could have easily lost to the Colts , got a key interception to turn the Ravens game around when it looked like they would tie us , and KC throttled us in both games last year. So this roster needs work. Polian Et.al. Built the roster and despite drafting 31 st all those years, kept the roster on top of the AFC. One AFC East title does not make a dynasty and let’s see how we do fixing that d and getting a decent run game as teams are drafting to combat our passing game while loading up on tight end talent as they have seen us get burned time and time again by TE’s in the seams and with a power running attack (the Browns may have beaten us had they gotten the chance with their run game which I believe they beat us with at our last meeting and now their defensive draft class looks outstanding ). We got fortunate with a Cam fumble as we were going to lose that game and by the time we played them the second time the wheels had come off as that game was finally us beating them soundly. This off season they loaded up on tight ends , backs , future Qb, and beefed up their pass rush thru the draft, free agency , and got back guys who opted out. Just saying we are in for a battle to retain the East as most people are stating both the Fins and Jets had good drafts and I think the Pats will be a very tough defensive unit compared to last year. We need to at least get to one Super Bowl before any claim this office is better than the one our legacy was built by. I like and respect Mcbeane and the future LOOKS bright ; let’s just see if they can actually make that promise into reality and then I am willing to consider your premise. Just thinking it doesn’t make it so. I will say Beane bringing in Diggs reminds me of Polian swinging the deal for Bennett and both produced major results on their respective sides of the ball. You may be on to something and all I am saying with all due respect is it’s early and time will tell! It’s going to be an entertaining ride no matter what! 😊😉
  3. You might be a little closer to delirium than being in a “ funny mood”! Might be time to put the draft guides away and try to catch a little sleep! Maybe this was already conjured up under the influence of Ambien! Lol,,,, tomorrow will be a fresh new start! 😀😊
  4. Yep, I think melifonwu ( sp, cuse cb) may have actually seen more snaps this year and given us a little hope in solving our long standing issue covering tight ends , but they decided a backup swing tackle prospect was more pressing. I think it’s their order of filling needs that is raising questions so far in this draft. Still 4 picks to go so hopefully Beane will find more answers.
  5. Great points and I appreciate the stats you provided. D line needed work, my only issue is was this the draft with actual talent at edge to truly make a difference THIS YEAR. We had a shot at JOK ( 15 th ranked player overall by many) who can blitz, cover tight ends , and actually had production last year. We may have stood still a little too long allowing Cleveland, a conference and probable playoff foe, to jump up and grab him. I like McBeane addressing our d issues , I just wonder if taking two edge guys was the best option for getting the needed production this season. I hope so!
  6. I will forever have distasteful visions of macho fan from the Browns dancing around on the stage and Cleveland jumping ahead of us to draft JOK just a few spots ahead of us sitting at 61. I was hoping after he made it that long that we had a great shot at him and I envisioned us finally having an answer to tight ends like Kelce, the Pats running 12 personnel, and the fins tight ends also abusing us! I thought Beane sat still a little too long with JOK within reach at a reasonable price , and Cleveland was aggressive knowing they needed an answer for Kelce as well after addressing edge with Clowney and Garrett. We still have no answer for covering tight ends but maybe we can get some actual sacks rather than just pressures that don’t seem to bother Mahomes or Brady. We still need to hope we develop a run game and we still have to see if we can get production from our tight ends down the seams. Still more draft to go but Beane was not leaving without ramping up pressure from our d lines!
  7. What were the issues with his workout, and do you think they are a red flag or warning of any significance, or was it just a bad day? Trust your opinion and am curious given he was not coming off any injuries and should have been in his best shape/ preparation given he took 2020 off. Thx for taking the time if you feel like replying,,,,no harm tho if you have other things more important going on! 😀
  8. It’s a great point Yolo. How much has to be invested , esp in the d line , before we get production or enough is enough? Yet people were complaining we should not use a pick to get adequate talent in our backfield just because we spent two prior third round picks on RBs with moderate production. Pittsburgh and even The Jags realized the two talented backs in yesterday’s first round, and despite holes in their lines they still saw the need to have speed and someone with good hands out of the backfield. Rather than take the 5 th rated project edge rusher with only one productive season ( and many pointed out his sacks were bolstered with coverage sacks and against inferior interior lineman he won’t see in the NFL; epenesa overpowered people in college too only to get a wake up call last year against NFL talent), why not try going up a few spots to add to Allen’s weapons and help protect him from being our leading rusher ? Maybe Williams will still be possible but I would think he will be gone by 61 as many are predicting the Fins to take him early in the second round. Our backs were third round picks for a reason, and even Jenkins was available when we picked to help bolster the O line, yet we once again go d lineman with a first round pick! We still have no one who can cover Kelce , Tampa’s gronk, and the Pats are loading up on Tight ends as well , so if we insisted on drafting d, why not take the BPA like Beane insists he does; try to be creative with JOK for example ( ranked 15 th overall by most draft gurus, and admittedly wanted to be a Bill) who can cover tight ends, can blitz, could play as a third safety in a look that Tampa used successfully ( casserly’s analysis) and was still available? . Beane went with a position of perceived need which may eventually catch up with us as we pass over better athletes. I hope I’m wrong, and he produces this year but McD has a tendency to not give a lot of snaps to rookies ( see epenesa), plus we have a known d line rotation inherently limiting his snaps. I would argue an O lineman, someone like JOK, or even a back Williams would all play more snaps with larger benefit NOW as we push for a run at the SB. Value wise I think we could have gotten a similarly productive edge with our second pick given how likely a rookie edge is to get significant snaps. Most analysts suggest there is still a significant gap between us, KC , and Tampa. Given last year’s production, we may still struggle to stop either with our D , so why not try to put pressure on them by enhancing our O (maybe we are a little better with Sanders)? With an off season to analyze our trends and a one dimensional O that struggles to run the ball, we won’t be harder to stop than we were when it counted last year. ( our O struggled in the playoffs the past two years). Dabol deserves more talent in the backfield where we lack speed and consistency ( brieda is possible fix but real competition would help. It seems important to give Dabol options to take carries from Allen to keep him healthy! Even if we didn’t go with an RB, I would argue there were better players on the board than an edge with one year production two seasons ago. Beane has been great but not perfect as evidenced by last years additions on d line. I just think this was a time to bolster production and taking perceived “ boom/bust project” with that first pick may not pan out this year and was a questionable use of the one pick you expect to get good production from immediately. Hopefully the rest of the draft will look more beneficial. 😊
  9. I was an original club member that bought season tickets to the Jags BEFORE they started playing. Had to make that commitment two years ahead. Of the team starting. Had two club seats on the 35 yard line , 8 rows behind the visitors bench. It was a great experience and I was able to take my Father , who passed away in 2002, to his first pro football game on a Monday night against the Steelers. The season ticket holder next to us got arrested and taken out in handcuffs for fighting and being drunk that night , promoting my dad to ask “ how much are you paying for this?!” Lol! Kept the seats up until the Bills lost the music city miracle and had they won they would have come to Jax the next week for the AFC championship game. The next week the Titans crushed the jags to go to the SB and the Titans lost on the one yard line. I even got to see Marino’s last game as the fins were destroyed by the Iags and Jimmy Johnson pulled Marino in that game. So I had some interesting memories. However, I hated the jags games interfering with my ability to watch the Bills so I gave up my club seats after that year. The jags have been terrible and frankly , boring to follow and I have attended just a couple of games since that time. I am originally from Ohio, a big buckeye fan and so now starting the Urban Myer era is interesting and I hope will breathe some life back into the franchise. Interesting fact; I did my family practice residency for 3 years in an inner city hospital in Toledo, Ohio called Mercy Hospital. Also did my Med school before that in Toledo so I was up there 6 years before coming to Jax for good. BOTH Urban and Harbaugh ( Michigan coach) were BORN in that hospital and ai delivered about 50 babies there and attended many more deliveries as the lead resident in Peds responsible for newborn resuscitation! I am 63 , was in Toledo between ages 21-27 , so I don’t think I was there for those two deliveries. However, Jax is a small town really so maybe I will run into Urban someday and kid him that I was there for his first breaths so that qualifies me as one of his early fans! It’s a small world, and while nothing will ever come between myself and my loyalty to the Bills, tonight we may see Urban begin to start making Jax relevant again. I can’t remember if the Bills come down here this year but if they do , I might finally go back to see our great Bills team down here on our way to the Super Bowl! Maybe I can finally meet some of you great people after all these years. Enjoy the draft tonight ,, I would love to see us draft a playmaker like Harris or Etienne just to make our O that much more unstoppable. Here’s hoping Beane keeps up his magic and we have a good night. Will also be interesting to see Urbans first draft and the beginning of his NFL era as I already was at least in the delivery suite where it all started for him ! 😀😊😎
  10. Please don’t let them swing getting Aaron Rodgers! They have a lot of draft capital. What a nightmare! One yea without Brady and then RODGERS SHOWS UP!? Lol. If there is a football God, don’t let this happen!
  11. I get your point and it may amount to just getting used to the change. However , Brady is a pretty cerebral guy so if he is seeing* potential problems, there may be something to his concern. For example, many Lb’s and safety’s are fairly close to each other in size or at quick glance. Now throw something in like Belicheck running that amoeba front that Josh actually had trouble with up until this past season. Even the first game was close and came down to the fumble covered by zimmerman. So all the guys are upright and shifting positions before the snap; I could easily see thinking a guy is a LB who looks like he is coming , but instead it’s a more sure handed safety who unexpectedly drops with the TE and Josh was thinking the TE was an open hot read and throws where a more mobile safety can react and pick it off. Josh went that way thinking he had a favorable matchup against a LB based on traditional uni numbers before the number changes , but now that guy is a safety , more agile in coverage , and I could at least fathom how this MIGHTbe an issue. Habit is a real thing, especially when you have had a certain system your entire career and you have 2 seconds to read and react. All I’m saying is if the most successful QB in NFL history sees potential issues, it probably has some validity and I imagine younger QBs and certainly rookies might struggle with it until they get games under their belt. Maybe they do identify players more by number and not just where they line up and I envision defensive coaches will try to use this in their favor somehow; hell once a year Belicheck pulls some obscure rule out to gain an advantage in a game! Just thinking it.might actually be an issue if Brady is concerned, and it just seems with all the issues in the NFL( making wrong calls, still making errors with replay, shaky definitions about what constitutes a catch etc), this just seems like they created a problem where there was no pressing need to do so! Lol! After 50 plus years of seasons, all the issues with COVID and attendance etc, this was an issue that HAD to be adresssed? A cynic might think it’s a way to generate jersey sales coming off a lower revenue season, and now some fans fav player whose jersey they own decides to change to his old high school number ! Guess we won’t know till we see what happens. 😊🧐
  12. I believe Beane just said they will address the Allen situation AFTER the draft, so not sure how that fits in with 5 th year option. Given the dates involved.
  13. That’s because they CUT BOTH starting tackles. So they add Thuney, Brown ,and Long comes back after a year off. They are set on the o line ; we couldn’t get to mahomes with the two guys they cut , we have added little to bolster our rush with hughes, Addison each a year older, so they address Their main weakness and Reid et al continue to be front runners easily in the AFC. I don’t get how we could not have addressed our rush in more productive way; heck even the Browns with a premier rusher like Garret added Clowney. We won’t significantly bolster our rush with edge guys available at 30 in the draft, so this doesn’t seem like much progress for our chances to be more competitive with the Chiefs or Tampa Bay. That’s why IMHO at 30 you add another offensive weapon ( one of the two top backs) because we better be able to avg 33-35 pts a game because nothing so far about our D makes me think we can stop top tier offenses. Signing our own FA was great, but we didn’t beat KC or the Titans last year and I doubt we could stop Cleveland’s run oriented offens( it’s better than Baltimore because they at least have a capable QB with play action), so I think we need to put pressure on teams by scoring because we have done nothing impressive with our D and are depending on Star to be a stabilizing factor. That doesn’t put pressure on Mahomes, esp with their new line. KC always seems to be a step ahead of us and they are not afraid to go after impact players every year. Beane has been very good, but has made little progress creating a D line that can impact games.
  14. Maybe a missed opportunity for us, certainly a decent signing for the Browns who have a very good roster and direction now. I think they will be right there with the Bills and Chiefs in the battle for the AFC and we are getting thin on options to bolster our pass rush. A little puzzling given we have known since the AFC championship game that this is our major defensive weakness and gap separating us from the Chiefs.
  15. On Bills live Tasker and Brown stated there are only three people in both Canadian and American HoFS. Marv was on live and it was a little dull rehashing the past for the millionth time so I switched to something else rather than waiting the entire show to get the other two names. Definitely sure in the numbers tho.
  16. Not sure where you got that breakdown from, but seems 180 degrees from most I am seeing. Suggest checking out Chris Simms analysis, who was spot on about Allen , as he has Wilson rated above lawerence and called him a potential superstar! He is great moving, great off platform , very accurate, ran a pro system with progression reads in college, has a precise rocket arm, hits tight windows, had an absolutely great pro day, and NO EXPERTS HAVE FIELDS ANYWHERE close to Wilson talent wise as most have Fields behind even Mac Jones at 4 th or even 5 th best QB prospect. SF looks to have moved up to take Jones and not Fields! I am an avid Ohio State fan , watched Fields every game the past two years, and while he is very good, he holds the ball too long, threw to mostly wide open receivers and did struggle at times with tight windows, actually regressed in performance from the prior year with the one exception being against Clemson. He was terrible in the second half against Indiana as the Bucks luckily held on to win. He was again bad against Alabama, as was the whole buckeye team. He has 4.4 speed , but he was injured for games this year in college which he played thru, but his pocket awareness needs work and we all know even a guy with Allen’s size can get hurt running in the NFL, so that speed won’t necessarily offset lack of awareness or quick feet in the pocket. No way is Fields ready to play in the NFL this year, whereas Trevor, Wilson , Jones may all be day one starters. You are way off in your info on how almost everyone sees Wilson and Fields; let’s see how draft day goes !
  17. Chris Simms, who is a pretty good Qb evaluator, and a pretty good NFL insider /trend and talent evaluator with stated aspirations to become a GM, believes Wilson is the most talented QB this year ( superstar talent) and feels like the Jets will “ run to the podium picking Wilson” if the Jags stick with Trevor. That makes sense, and I can’t think of another strong reason to stay at 2 unless it is to be certain they get the QB they want as they are starting a new Era with a new coaching staff who has zero ties to Darnold. Btw, who knows what Darnold is after three years as he has more turnovers than tds. It’s also being reported that SF didnt even try talking to the Jets as apparently it’s well known their intentions are to draft a QB. The Jets are sticking for the one position, QB, that changes a franchises future and the one position you most likely need to be in the top 5 ( we got very lucky at 7 as Allen was under valued and subsequently has over achieved) to land that type of talent in today’s draft. If the Jets are looking for a different position, like tackle etc, yet turned down multiple future first round picks to just drop to 12, where they coukd still get an extremely good line prospect, it would be pretty surprising. Only the QB positional talent changes, or drops off so quickly to warrant a team sticking or not moving a few spots despite being getting fairly compensated to move. Time will tell, but the Jets sticking at 2 really seems like strong circumstantial evidence they are going QB with their pick and Wilson seems like the obvious choice.
  18. Cris Sims agrees and sees Wilson as the clear best qb in this class, and said he has superstar talent. Sees Jets running to the podium if Jags stick w Trevor.
  19. Just an interesting thought; was watching Chris Sims regarding his qb draft evaluations and he put Zack Wilson above Trevor, and said he was on a tier by himself. Said he is a superstar who places the ball where it should be consistently with about the same arm velocity as Josh ( close w Josh still slightly better). Sims said he can make all same throws as mahomes , off platform, sidearm, overhead, etc , but unlike Trevor who “ can be all over the place at times, with some balls coming out funny ,and needs some mechanical tweaks” ,Wilson is “ a throwing machine” and Sims had nothing but effusive praise for him. Remember, Cris has always been a Josh backer , and I think he was one of very few who had Josh as the best Qb in that draft. Guy does his work, film study, and said he would take Wilson before lawerence easily. He stated if the Jags stick with Trevor , the Jets will run to the podium and take Wilson. Jets will PROBABLY still take Trevor if Wilson goes to the jags first , but he wasn’t as certain as he was about them doing that as he was them taking Wilson. So with a new staff, possibly the best qb in the draft who Sims sees like Rodgers, Mahomes, there may not be a huge gap between the Bills and jests about play, esp as time goes on. So that leaves Darnold going elsewhere , and who knows, maybe with all the draft capital the pats have, it might be a place for Darnold to actually compete for a starting job. Hopefully, the Jets wouldn’t trade within the division, but if the price is right, who knows? Sims does feel like the pats will take a qb at some point and he mentioned the BAMA qb as a great fit for someone like the Pats ( btw he had that qb as his 3 rd best , Fields was 5 th , and I forget who had had 4 th). Sims just did his qb draft review last week on YouTube so it’s current. I disagree with the OP s point that the Bills stood still. We signed quality guys, they were just our own and we improved at th #2 wr with Sanders over Brown, and I like Hollister who replaces lee smith and this guy is quick and has prior chemistry with Josh. We can improve the run game thru the draft ( kiper has us on Harris at 30) , and there will be lots of unexpected releases after the draft that may allow us some improvement in our pass rush , or even a better option at cb2. I think we will repeat but I think the pats will be right there , and it’s not 100% Cam will be the Qb. I think Darnold would flourish in that system, so let’s see what happens. If Wilson is the pending superstar Sims thinks he is, and the Jets land him,,,,things in the East will be a tight race.
  20. Pretty sure guy is trolling for fun now when reading his posts below this. Statements get more nonsensical and doubles Down despite several pages of facts, not opinions, disproving his OP. PLUS has been on here awhile with many posts. No one actually thinking that way would stay here or last that long on this board where it’s hard to get away with even simple mistakes at times! 😀😂. We have been had. Lamp stuff; time to shut it down and use life’s precious time becoming more educated, not lobotomized.
  21. Don’t see them letting him go until next year. Never can tell, maybe he becomes happier as a backup on a WINNING team! Depends on Fromms development as well. I am not even sure Beane will trade him next year since he’s on a one year deal and can probably just walk unless we get huge cap relief to somehow extend him first, as a backup. The one grace saving scenario regarding paying for our backup more than expected would be if a certain Qb sustained an acl injury running, fighting instead of going down , the whole season might remain viable. TB12 had one bad season like that, ***** happens. But on topic, no way I see them let him go this year for anything reasonable cuz he was brought here for one reason only , keep hopes of SB alive should our starter be out 3-4 weeks. You don’t trade that away before the trade deadline as playoff scenarios won’t be set by then. However , if a starter elsewhere goes down and they offer us an edge like jj watt, plus a tackle or elite rb, and next years first,,,,,thanks for your service Mitch ! Fromm, you can stand on the sideline this year as well! 😀👍😈. More it sinks in, the more I see it as another slick Beane move. Man, that guy is hard to not love; transparent as much as possible, empathetic ( made sure to call Matt and explain whole scenario BEFORE THEY DID IT ), is very open and affable with the press Corp ( compare a presser with him compared to the B###hy Belicheck) is available to fans, is available to players according to J po ( Hyde’s nickname for poyer) as he is down on the practice field all the time, set out his franchise building plan and stuck to it , looks good in sunglasses and a suit, etc! Also of great importance is he gets along well with Mcd with a shared vision of team and culture. Was even open about trade value ( both need to feel a little uncomfortable) , and did mention they talked to gronks people. NO OFFER was ever made tho as he said “it would be an upset for gronk to leave Tom”! Wonder if wifey TB12 fits same odds category!? So obviously things with Eagles are not fair yet in Beanes eyes for ertz. If you didn’t catch the Beane / Mcd presser on YouTube , it is worth 25 min with great insight.
  22. Thx for great post! Also Tasker mentioned on Buffalo fanatics YouTube show ( Rico host) this week how much Barkley’s wife did for the other players wives /so’s) during their time in Buffalo. She made them feel cared about and helped them adjust to the NFL/ Buffalo. So loss goes beyond Matt and affects culture here. Plus / minus on this move for just a one year stay will be determined, esp if ( hopefully) he doesn’t have to see the field. Tribusky with 29 NFL wins under his belt so that is something Matt didn’t have. Beane stressed we were a game away from SB , but hey if Barkley was good for last year , I find it hard to believe an insurance policy , no matter how good ( hey he will never be josh) gets you closer. Esp with d line not better with exception of star a year older. Beane did say they believe in our capacity to run with our guys but they will still look in draft at line, rb options and made a point lots of vets will be cut later as teams drafts come into play etc. Also thought same about pats going back to future of offense with gronk / Hernandez type 12 personel use. Said Frazier will need to Solve that! ( good luck cuz our D response to kc twice was not Einstein like !)
  23. All I know is I am taking these jet sightings much more seriously now! Cab driver / boomer= pegulas jet/ Beane free agency ! Does ertz or his wife have anything going on down there ( up there for me from Jax,fl)? I know the whole Carolina roster is always in play but anyone you think they might have an eye on since you are in the area ? 👍
  24. Props to you for being on top of this. Surprise get with tribusky , but at least we know to take the Pegulas jet seriously. Akin to the cab driver in the days of Boomer on espn! Well done! 😀
  25. Can’t forget the pats d will improve. Brought van noy back, judon, plus guys that opted out were good. Also added at least three other guys I believe. One thing we have seen is our o struggle against BB defenses. If we don’t get better running the ball , and that includes devin learning how to stop dropping critical screens or wheel routes, moss getting better vision as an nfl back , we become so one dimensional that our o can be neutralized much like it was in the playoffs. We scored 27, 17, 24 points , so hanging 40 is not some given thing. An o with two TES, and a power run game will limit possessions appears to be the pats plan as they know they can’t air it out with us. This is where Frazier needs to be better. Maybe go 4-3 with Klein coming in and get away from soft , off coverage zone , or bring in thick nickel package with 3 rd safety or perhaps large cb (6’2” etc from draft ) to help support run and help with TE coverage. Pats will make huge roster improvement this year , whereas so far we are locked in because of lack of cap space. Hope somehow we get ertz or if somehow etienne fell , we learned watching kc last year add with CEH, giving josh more dynamic weapons trumps picking up some much lower rated edge guy who won’t immediately produce much. I think scheme is our path to limiting pats and I hope we keep improving our strength, the o, so that 40 point total gets close to consistently being possible. If we can avg 33 points ( up from 29), this d may still be enough to get us back to afc championship game and beyond.
