  1. Good points and analysis. So far this looks like a slight improvement with saffold gone. ( Edwards looks very round faced , somewhat plethoric , didn’t have great recent stats , so I don’t see him as anything but a backup. McGovern , looks athletic on the other hand ). So people are ignoring Hyde had a CERVICAL FUSION, as stated on if the walls could talk , spielman had the same surgery and did not play the same or overcome it. Having had much more extensive fusions at 4 levels , 5th needed, I just can’t imagine feeling the same despite, it being only a single level for Hyde. Love the guy , really hope it works but no guarantees he is the same great safety. Poyer also coming off a rough year , so hope this is not a warning sign. We wont have Miller until who knows, and our lack of sacks has not been upgraded. Expecting expenesa to Be different is , imho, wishful thinking. Basham could improve but again, odds seem against him. I do have HIGH HOPES , we get a Young LB, and we will learn we can indeed be ok or better against the run and get more impact plays than BILS fans accepted as good production, IF they draft one of a few good lbs that’s could be available. That leaves a legit competitor wr for the wr 2 spot. Without that in FA/ or draft , we are left hoping Gabe and guys with potential break out. Finally , i agree with greggtx, RB is prob improved in the goal line /short yardage area ,but how great would it be to get a difference making back on a 5 year deal , like BIJON. If not available , the tall wr suggested by Jeremiah / and others , who wins contested balls would also be a good move and get a lb in round 2. But so far it is a lot of lateral moves that could prove better If they pan out. Beane has been very average with his success at FA signings after DIGGS ( cant judge miller fairly as he was hurt before playofff competition ever began). Certainly , it doesn’t look like anything resembling any huge gain in talent so far. Hopkins becoming a BILL , would actually be that edge that MILLER was supposed to add to the d last year and did for a short period , but that’s the rub, the trophy is handed out in feb so you cant just ignore injuries, surgeries, aging , and what your competitors are adding. It’s a long process , very far away yet, but at this point there is no great addition ( well, if Sean calls the d that could be huge vs more Frazier) , just seems like hoping guys will finallly break out and produce , so lets see how the draft goes. Have to admit tho, the way our 1st round pick and cook were used last year , who can be certain what the draft results will really mean? Drafting , then barely playing those rookies like last year, to me , means i will hold off judgement / hopes until i see the end result of them actually being active and playing. I would love Campbell , but they need to solidify talent for josh to throw too , and two slot type guys , imo , is not solving the issue yet. Rich Eisen agrees, suggesting Hopkins should be a goal ( funny he suggested getting Henry as well, seriously, and dealing with cap issues like LA later, AFTER you finally have your SB ring!
  2. It means the coaching was not acceptable, going with someone they felt comfortable with vs trying something new. Don’t throw out ypg crap which means nothing situationally , this was by the eye test a very average back who couldn’t catch dependably and fumbled. He had 13 career fumbles compared to the newly signed backs 3. He was not dependable AT CRITICAL TIMES INCLUDING PLAYOFF GAMES , yet this staff chose to keep cook and Hines on the bench predominantly, or weren’t creative enough to find ways to use them regularly. . We know little about the guys we still have and that’s the coaching staffs fault , Dorsey or whomever was responsible. What’s wrong with being ok with them moving on and not bringing back an OK back that ran his course for 4 years , knowing he lacked speed ( 4.6 40 ) and was not a consistent back in making impact plays or in most ways despite whatever they kindly say about him in the press, which is a classy thing , BUT does not mean that’s how he was viewed behind closed doors. If he does turn into some pro bowl talent, it’s just further evidence that issues are this staff. Doubt that happens, zebras rarely change their stripes. People might attack me , insult me with crap statements like “no disrespect” , which is just a guise for being disrespectful as they mean their OPINION is obviously the correct one and they have a need to make it known rather than just politely moving on, ( like opinionated , alphawuss, and not you in anyway ngbills ! ) , but i stand by my opinions i posted. I think i have been validated with my OPINIONS, about edmunds /motor/McKenzie, being expendable and not likely coming back. Not saying that to be a wise a$$ but just that so many BILLS fans turn into such blind fans, they cant listen to any reason ; despite having a unicorn qb who has sniffed the afc championship 1 x compared to mahomes, who is just a year older but with 2 SB wins, we should have been more accomplished than we are. This has to raise concerns about the process and its implementation. Younger staffs on Cincy, eagles, and MAYBE the fins & jets , have or are poised to bypass mcd in his 6th year. I am encouraged slightly by all the staff changes. We have had reg season success, but post season spectacular failings ( Houston , 13 seconds, Cincy game) are examples during mcd’s 4-5 postseason. My largest concern /issue with this staff is the concept of so much rotation in many aspects , which ends up with less talented players playing much higher snaps than they should. McD is a Great human being, but honestly, it is time he has post season success as a true measurement of progress and the learning he repeatedly talks about. That CINCY game was another spectacular failure , and its time for those spectacular losses to just not keep happening IN THE POSTSEASON . Along that line, despite how impressive the new back signing looks, it is still a slight red flag for me about this staff , esp with a very inexperienced oc in Dorsey. Really good teams usually are able to chose a bell cow/ # 1 Back whose traits they chose to depend on. The 90’s teams relied on thurm mostly and Davis who was not extremely diff, just not the receiver thurm was. So , here we go once again with 3 backs of supposedly different traits, and it is dependent on Dorsey to find how to best use them while not giving away tendencies with his packages. I think it might work better than w/ motor but why wont this staff just buy into getting/drafting a 3 down , dependable , back who is THE go to guy , and sub when he needs a blow. That’s different that rotating packages. So while better and perhaps cap concerns dictate everything, i am not sure this staffs rotation emphasis is as successful as we are seeing other organizations having success sticking with less rotations of personnel. KC seems to win without that same rotational dependency. I just wish they would go all in and try to get a talent like BIJON ( many analysts are saying the pats will take him so we may have no real shot), or the second overall rated back for example. Sorry, but once again , we are apparently rotating people , and it could work with different talent , but it could also be a repeat with Harris who is a slight improvement , but he is not a 1st/2nd round talent. He only did 21 pass pro reps in a season, so hopefully he is just running: but isn’t that a tendency give away yet again? Harris’s and motor stats were almost identical except Harris was better in the afc east , which included the bills and we don’t play ourselves ! Maybe they turn COOK loose and use his speed ; maybe Harris is the goal line /short yardage guy only. My issue is why cant they find or commit to getting a true game changing back? We still can with the approaching draft , this signing excludes nothing. I hope they keep adding offensive talent. We can win a SB , but our route there is doing everything we can to support Josh in all offensive facets. Like i think ngbills is addressing; we may have more coaching issues than prior talent issues, but imo , moving on from motor was inevitable as we didn’t achieve the ultimate goal with him.
  3. Yeah, i bet he is confused. He also did nothing to get thrown off the plane; always totally innocent. He put that out there knowing how to manipulate the media, now acting. “Confused” as in all reality only one guy is willing to throw that type of money his way, JERRY JONES. Yesterday on Sirius KIRWIN said he personally would only do an incentive laden deal with him after two acl injuries making him a very high risk signing. HOWEVER, kirwin said jerry has been talking to him and has been enamored with him a long time. If anyone would or could throw that type of cash to OBJ, kirwin said it would be jerry and he felt the cow fools are not far from closing a deal with him., but it could be a problem the following year when they have to pay jeudy, who is not going to settle for 8 mil a year with obj getting 20 ( jones has worked this type of deal before with huge signing bonus spread out over many years to soften cap blow. KIRWIN said Jerry’s son should talk his dad down from obj, and mention the issues they will have to face the following year. Don’t shoot the messenger. Was just driving and listening to kirwin/miller for a couple hours late yesterday afternoon , and that’s when Pat said how much JERRY wants OBJ , and said he didn’t believe a deal was that far off OBJ prob heard the show or reports about it ,, so now comes the denial about 20 mil year,,,and kirwin believed obj was the guy leaking that number to the press, so todays claim of innocence is not surprising. He is truly an angel ; players like him so this is just like the giving girl on prom night trying to recoup her reputation the next day as the prom guy is filling in all his buddies,,,,lol,,,,yeah nothing happened cuz certain things don’t really count as sex, right? 😀,,,,,,,obj just got home from his prom in the Dallas area!
  4. Didn’t we do that with edmunds? Wagner cant cover if they plan on same D. Draft looking more likely, Dodson isn’t bad, plus we have last years 3 rd round pick as well with experience,,,,,not playing experience but those mental reps are part of the process! Besides, this is the year of the O everybody called for since the CINCY loss! PO is back and confident , feels great which is good to hear. He and Hyde will be there unlike last year when both could be considered in all practicality, missing in action due to injury. With them back , no matter who is inserted , the d will be better than last year , or at worst pretty equivalent. If they could somehow luck into Jack Campbell , was listening to kirwin on Sirius , and he believes he is great athlete , plug and play and will be a starting iLB/MLB for a team like the bills this year. There is also the 2nd ratedLB in the draft , name escaping me , but the film room guys from cover one are very high on him so no need to panic. The board , podcasts, all requesting o line, another receiver, and weapons for ALLEN, so it’s going according to form so far…... It’s just early FA time, sit back and chill till preseason. Still haven’t even hit trade deadline, so this is the time to relax as no pressure and nothing fans can do anyhow. ENJOY MARCH MADNESS, at least as good as any SB without the bills playing! 😁
  5. It’s gotten ridiculous hasn’t it? I didn’t see the thing censored but i grew up very close to the area , tri state area of Ohio/ w.va/ pa. Area along the Ohio area., so i know the very common, innocuous probable short term for a really common food in that area. It’s not hate speech, every person w common sense knows that. Man, there are some great cooks/ cooking in that area. And absolutely so many great people who take care of their neighbors.. MISS the area now being in Florida . ESP the pristine snow around Christmas as i lived in the country between farms. Grandparents were directly from Czechoslovakia, and they had a tradition of dumplings w sauerkraut on New Year’s Day,,,,was great stuff to grow up on, no fast food or Uber eats in those days. Yeah, I’m sure everybody jumps to slurs immediately when talking about food. 😄. My grandfather who was a coal miner, became mayor of his small town , never missed work, must be rolling over in his grave seeing how soft the country has become. There were so many ethnic communities , and the nicknames and jokes were common and funny and everybody still got along. Miss those days! May Mackenzie enjoy the area if he lands there! Thx for the memories!
  6. Great point, It’s a true fact but heaven forbid you ( or Beas In this case) have your own opinion about anything; unless you fAll in line with all the “ real fans”, saying anything critical in any way about a Bills player, even as constructive criticism is just going to draw attacks and negative responses. If you don’t agree exactly with their OPINION, EVEN THO ITS JUST A DISCUSSION AND NOT SOMETHING TANGIBLE SUPPORTED BY EVIDENCE , you will immediately be attacked , insulted rather than just have a polite discussion and your opinion is then something THAT HAS TO SOMEHOW BE PROVEN WRONG to satisfy some need by some anonymous troll. I’m not sure how an opinion , which is just how another views some subjective situation , your opinion MUST be proven as something factually wrong which is wasted energy. . Then rather than just move on because you had a differing opinion, they are driven to somehow either belittle you or just manipulate things by assaulting your character or ultimately say you are lying rather than defend their point of view. Beas offering his different opinion is just free speech apparently in support of a colleague or friend. ( he didn’t attack or insult Josh and if you are so sure he did , please ask Josh and have him confirm if he was truthfully insulted.) If you can’t offer that to back up your argument or claims to the “ truth” , then you are trying to fabricate things as being facts, and just being manipulative to gain some form of weird satisfaction or just trying to hurt someone like BEAS just for speaking up. Any tolerance or empathy seems beyond some people , which is a common trait of sociopaths and/ or narcissists. BEFORE you attack me for supporting free speech , ( and offering an opinion that I believe Beas had no Ill intent , and it’s further my opinion having listened to JOSH for years now, that he is very emotionally mature , and unless I heard it come out of his mouth , I would never believe he felt insulted by Beas in any way ) please go watch a great psychologist, author, valued lecturer , Jordan PETERSON, in a youtube podcast discussing the dark tetrad (used to be dark triad ) that has become pervasive on the internet and forums like this and twitter. . The recurrent and prominent personality traits common in so many trolls are narcissism, sociopathy, Sadism , and Machiavellianism and these traits can be measured by reproducible tools and supported by extensive research. It’s easy to find on you tube so take a look , it’s a great discussion given the internet and so many posting anonymously. . Unfortunately people have lost civility behind their anonymity while posting , so rather than just kindly moving on , they are driven to be sure their OPINION is valued above others even when it was never asked for in the first place. But that’s the problem with these traits , the trolls can’t control them or recognize them in their behavior to begin with. Hey , it’s just an opinion , backed up by offering a highly educated professional who has years of experience recognizing and treating the consequences associated with those traits and I think once you are educated about the prevalence of these traits , it becomes easier to enjoy things and protect yourself emotionally from this disturbing trend. Probably not a bad thing to be aware of as certain fan bases are very toxic. So before attacking Beas for just having an opinion which causes no one any tangible harm , consider if you may be allowing these negative traits to come thru in posting or arguing about something as harmless as a guy offering an opinion about his friend.. Maybe people can make progress and realize attacking him ( again) is wasted energy , pointless as there is always more than one side to any issue , with many shades of grey and you can argue that your opinion is the RIGHT ONE till the cows come home , but it loses support and value if guised in name calling , manipulation, attacking people just to do it rather than genuinely discuss something. ALSO , IMO , posting blanket lazy statements that that the other person is “ wrong , exaggerating , lying “ without offering anything substantial to the discussion is worthless. If you cant be civil , why not just politely move on , that’s always a simple move here and no one “ needs “ to hear your deflecting and name calling,,,,besides you! PERSONALLY, in my opinion BEAS is a great guy and has always given everything he had to support JOSH , he has been a valued BILL, and it seems he was just supporting an apparent friend in RODGERS, and there is no question who beas would prefer to have throwing to him. No harm in just sticking up a for an apparent friend , seems like a good trait. Trolls want to put words in his mouth tho so he got stuck defending himSelf when he shouldn’t have to waste energy doing that. He could prob benefit as well by just avoiding those situations. Hey , I don’t get Rodgers or care for his persona either, but no harm done , so attacking Beas is just carrying on from prior issues and it’s time to let it go, as we don’t know him or Rodgers personally. There is no win here like playing a game , there is no objective score keeping. Just offered as an opinion ; not meant to offend anyone , hopefully gave some useful factual support from a third party and that’s the end of it for me. Have a great weekend enjoying some incredible basketball! March madness has already been fantastic. 😊👍
  7. Stats mean little as they dont reflect play at critical times, drops that kill drives, big runs in a game or two that boost the stats, fumbles that are recovered Burt still halted a drive, how is your performance around the goal line, how dependable are you in short yardage , do you have enough burst to break off long runs, can you add more to the passing game like being more than a receiver in the flats, can you run a circle route and create mismatches , are you consistent from game to game, can you be depended on to actually score tds , can you break tackles after first contact. Just throwing up a ypc number adds almost no insight compared to watching an entire season of plays. Plus comparing him to a much older rib in gore who was at the very end of his career is ridiculous. Can you be depended on to convert third down runs so Allen doesn’t have to be the leading rusher as a franchise qb? Again, do you do all that weekly , consistently, or is your performance spotty or hot and cold. Very little of that is answered by ypc. I know its terrible and blasphemy to be constructively critical of a bills player on this site and it leads to personal attacks because its a simple, lazy way to just try to negate an argument 0r discredit a poster. Not in any way saying you do that at all or ever , but i can give examples of people who will attack ones opinion, as if their view is more valid or carries more weight , even tho its just another opinion or their INTERPRETATION of stats or games. Somehow, lost in their narcissism, they are obviously correct and so rather than just move on, they feel obligated to be dismissive or qualify their attacks with blatant bs like ‘ no disrespect, but”, rather than just moving on which is simple and is actually respectful. If you dont think its an issue , look up the dark triad or tetrad now as described by Jordan Peterson , who is a brilliant psychologist , author , speaker and the dark tetrad relates to anonymous keyboard warriors so prevalent now who have to be dismissive or machiavellian in their unrequested responses. I appreciate your opinion and work in your post. It is certainly one type of valued option or thought. . As a bills and NFL fan since ‘63 , having grown up watching two hof bills backs in OJ and THURMAN, in my opinion devin is a very avg and somewhat limited RB. He is not a good pass catcher or running screens. . There have been quite a few drive killing drops in his career. He can at times be a good runner but imo, compared to very good backs, he has games where he goes down with light contact , and he still is a fumble risk despite us recovering some of them. He is very avg IMO with the eye test compared to hard runners like we have seen in kc, Cincy, and the jets prior to the injury, and in CONTRAST, in a passing offense like the k gun was , Thurman was excellent as a receiver and lead the league in total yards from scrimmage for 3 years in a row. Devin is just not a complete threat in that sane way. That’s just my opinion having watched each for at least 4 years. So while his ypc is above avg, i still see him as a very avg back. The key question is could we do better or should we settle for this known situation “ at the right price” , whatever that means. Just like my opinion i posted about letting edmunds go as i feel we can at least match his production , but expect to even be better as the BILLS apparently agreed, , i feel its a mistake to bring Devin back only because we wouldn’t have to spend much on him, Let’s see how the bills decide; there is no right answer as it depends on the eye of the beholder. I hope they move on , try to find those traits I mentioned esp as there is no shortage of available backs. We know what he does, and this O has not been described by any analysts as being a good running team , in fact they say the opposite and need to find a back to take the leading rusher role away from josh. It’s just an opinion , not looking to get in any debate as i formed my opinion after watching every game he played. People got mad when i opined i believe the fins, jets may overtake the bills this year depending on the off-season and draft and Dorsey’s development. It was happening last year. Split games with fins/jets/ almost blew the playoff game to fins with a 3rd string qb. They are making impressive moves so far. Cincy and kc are currently better than us until mcd proves he can beat them in the playoffs. We struggled in bad weather as it affects our pass dominant game and josh didn’t play great in games like the Cincy game , so developing an effective run game to augment the offense , allow josh to perhaps not make as many mental errors ( all the red zone ints were a problem and in lower possession games , it can be a big issue.) and perhaps we can advance in the high pressure playoff games. There is no time to learn from losing in the playoffs , correct? Sorry but you dont see mahomes make as many mental errors, as he has a running game and receivers who make plays for him. Hey , fact is he has lead his team to 2 sb victories, while we played in one afc championship game, and lost 2 divisional games with a supposed strong roster. Despite the easily visible trend of the offense struggling the later part of the season , i was told trends mean nothing from week to week and constantly heard we were guaranteed to win the SB. Those are facts that can be proven by looking at last years posts ,,,,it was a guaranteed win and if anyone felt differently, they were attacked and they were told they were not good fans and worse. It is analogous to bringing up data about a certain disease or ‘prevention’ , mob mentality wouldn’t allow even simple discussion and time has not been kind to that thinking. Well, easy to see trends did matter and we have catching up to do if we are to be a real SB contender. Again, just an opinion, there is no absolute right or wrong. WITH that premise , I would look for a better back than devin despite your well written post; If we dont run more efficiently and diversify the offense , Dorsey’s true test, i dont think we will win a SB , not until we can consistently convert short yardage runs , and have a back as the leading rusher , not josh. Should be interesting to see beanes actions and if it works. I appreciate your points on Devin, i just believe we can do better regardless of how cheap he may sign for , and if he returns , i expect approximately the same production. Not bad, but bot great and who knows, maybe the grass is greener as we have no SB wins/ appearances and I thought that was the goal and why McD was hired. Best wishes! 😊👍 ’
  8. Interestingly i have plaques of those team pics hanging in my den. I started following the bills in ‘63 as a kid (just hit 65 years old ). One of the plaques is autographed by one of the wrs as a pharmaceutical rep saw all the bills stuff in my office and knew the player , so got it autographed for me. I may be the only guy living with plaques of those old , but good afl teams still hanging up ! Lol! Been a fan all these years and despite all the trauma emotionally , still hanging i waiting for that SB win. If i remember right , KC beat the BILLS to advance to the first SB EVER, and GREEN BAY of course won the first two SB’s. Pretty sure that’s right , but going from memory as i am watching w va play Maryland in the first cbs ncaa tournament basketball game and i am too lazy to look it up. lol. I am from originally from Ohio , close to border about 45 min from Pittsburgh. Born tho in wheeling , wva, and i went to HS. Tournament games where i watched bob huggins ( WVA HEAD COACH, now active coach with most college wins still coaching since Jim Boeheim of Syracuse retired ! How time flies; Huggins was a great HS/college player coached by his dad. Funny watching him coach on. Tv now. It’s like being a BILLS fan all these years. Have never been to Buffalo or seen a game there but made it live to SB’S 27 and 28. So i know great BILLS teams , but also 4 SB Losses, wide right, music city miracle crap, hail Murray, and 13 seconds. Watched greatest comeback ever on tv, then went to sb 27 cuz i knew destiny said we couldn’t lose 3 in a row! Then watched the Vikings game where i commented in shout box if Vikings came back it would take over as greatest comeback,,,sure enough it happened. Bills sb era was the best times . Best teams until josh finally surpassed.Kelly as he is just so gifted athletically. I thought we finally were there after perfect game against PAts, , and then 13 seconds changed everything. I’m not sure this team recovers from that , they were peaking, josh looked fabulous. That 13 sec may be like wide right if Beane cant tweak the roster . Afc is loaded now just as we got our qb I am a little concerned we missed our chance as now the fins , jets are not as good at qb ( tho Rodgers w jets is an issue) , but they are perhaps w more rounded rosters and our d has failed terribly at playoff time or against better teams. Time is flying ,,,Beane needs to help josh and we need a run game. Pretty big season , crossroads for us. But yep , i still celebrated the 63/64 bills great teams. ! Lots of great memories, just as i am running ou of memory! Hard getting old,,,,enjoy theses josh years, they go by quickly!
  9. He is so good teams are just fighting to get him. Need to quit the bias ; he is very avg and has bad hands for a back. Nice guy, ok blocker , but on this team that’s not saying much with the accepted bull fighting cape style of blocking. If he is that good, why no offers as we have seen teams not being hesitant to sign backs at pretty good $ as they know the importance of the running game. But BILLS fans don’t want to draft a good one early , and they complain about paying one. So just keep letting josh feel the pressure to make plays as the talent around him is now below that of kc, fins, jets, bengals who all have good backs. Let’s keep struggling with short yardage and goal line situations. Let’s just keep running it back with same guys , yet now motor would not be on a rookie deal. Want to keep losing in the playoffs, or watch, the east is much tougher this year already seeing roster changes, so without improvement i think the fins , maybe the jets take the division.as they keep improving. Motor was terrible with screens. Still had some fumble issues. We already have cook who is shifty but undersized. This team will not win a SB without a tough back, see kc with their back , tough , hard to tackle runner. Beane has missed on almost every back he has brought in,, moss being the glaring example.and he luckily didn’t land mckitrick (sorry sp),,,,,cook may yet develop tho. The k gun passing attack was so good because thurm could catch and he was a great runner. We need talent, not same mediocre small back. Thurm could run between the tackles. Ask him and tasker about it. Get a legitimate powerful , aggressive back and suddenly the lbs cant drop and our passing opens up. Devin is a great kid , overachievedvfor his size, but he was not powerful enough . Help josh, get a legit back Beane. Keep being cheap , then accept the results like the feeling after last years Cincy game when we struggle passing in snow or cold. Yeah, just keep the offense that scored 10 at home in the playoffs intact cuz we liked an underrated guy! Lol! How bout get a guy who is not underrated, but actually produces and can catch a simple pass in the flats or more? We just cant keep settling on such inadequate production from the backs. Josh is good but he has proven he needs support or he starts pressing and sorry , but at this point he is no Mahomes ,,,,but even he has a good running game when called on. No shame in that, whatever it takes, Kelly had thurm, Josh needs a quality back. Beane is fixing o line, d help will be limited, so outscore , out possession teams. Win that way , josh plays longer, its a win -win!
  10. Boy this draft diamonds is some groundbreaking, new wave , analytics based , out of the box way of thinking ! Wow, “ the BILLS are keeping it quiet that they “SEEM TO BE LOOKING FOR A GUY THAT CAN GET DOWN THE FIELD IN A HURRY!” That’s the type of stuff i am sure the Bills were hoping would never get out or occur to other football teams ; imagine , looking at SPEEDY (AS OPPOSED TO THE USUAL SLOW GUYS I GUESS WE LOOKED FOR in prior drafts?) ROOKIE WIDE RECEIVERS! Not only speedy but they can get DOWN the field in a HURRY TOO; so not just fast but they have a sense of urgency, like if someone was chasing them ! This is why the BILLS SCOUTS are playing chess and teams like Miami , CINCY, & KC are playing dominoes,,,or maybe checkers ! Sounds like we are in good hands and ahead of the curve this year. Wont be seeing the Bills wr’s running merry go round crap like REID AND KC, cuz who got time for that when we are now looking to get down the field in a hurry! Sounds like Dorsey has already begun to use all that they ‘learned from this loss” and now it’s about WR’S who are in a hurry , pressed for time GOING to the private workouts! Or maybe coming FROM the private workouts, I’m not sure as they weren’t exactly clear about direction, except they will be headed DOWN somewhere in a HURRY; probably tough to get precise clarification when these guys they’re talking about seem to be in a hurry to get going fast! Well, this is a great, comforting start to free agency as now we know we are headed DOWN , FAST, AND IN A HURRY! I sensed that new direction after the CINCY game. Good to get confirmation from a professional publication like DRAFT DIAMONDS, and they sure dropped a diamond in the rough with this tweet, a real gem ! This is the type of publication that the subscription price might be going DOWNhill , fast, in a hurry if they keep dropping rare forms of analysis like this little nugget ! Hey, I’m sure they will get better as they feel the PRESSURE of fast approaching deadlines and keep getting these deep analytical tweets out rapidly,,,,,,in a hurry,,,with urgency ! Good luck and keep up the hard,,,,work! 😊
  11. Really,,,,lol,,,,are you paying his salary? Just kidding ,,,, but this is more important i think than having brought edmunds back. Gee , Greg ( what’s his last name , rosenthal or whatever, the guy who is with nfl films and does the weekly show on fridays with brown /tasker) ,thought getting Poyer back was more important because of how the d was run than getting Edmunds back. I agree , and while I’m not worried about money , i am worried about his injuries from last year I hope we are not seeing the beginning of him starting to deteriorate , and I'm thinking that is part of why he found out he didn’t have the market he expected. Really like him and Hyde together as we saw our d backfield get torched against Miami, the Vikings, Cincy , and now Rodgers will be playing tho he has not been great against the BILLS with the packers , but with a running game and better d and New York already bringing in guys he wants like lazaar, Our def backfield will be under fire. I hope physically Hyde, Poyer, white are back to levels we will need. Pretty sure the $ will not be an issue like the edmunds $, but i think that was a mutual parting of the ways as Tre never said much that i saw about appreciating Buffalo or thanking the fans etc who endured his growing up and very average play until his best year finally happened in his contract year. Poyer has always been a class act , but i bet felt a little upset that nothing got done until now. I am glad he’s back, i just hope he holds up and last year was an anomaly with all the team injuries.
  12. Was just kidding ! Lol,,,,honestly tho having owned businesses, I’ve experienced hiring friends , or close relatives ( not mine, but the employees being related ) was not good in the long term. Not in the nfl , but in the real world you can easily lose two employees if you have something happen where you have to get rid of one of them. I made the mistake of hiring my office managers daughter as my receptionist early in my career; first practice i owned. Daughter turned out to be terrible at the front desk , had to let her go myself ( couldn’t ask the mom to do it! Lol!) . My relationship with the office manager never was the same , never recovered , and actually had to mutually part ways within the same year. So , i did “learn from this” , as McD would say so often. Lol ! Was just kidding about things but i do think bringing in the older cook who is high priced, on the backside of his career , doesn’t bring much style difference from his brother and i think there will be cheaper , more physical backs available. It’s like the miller move , seems ok on the surface , but lots of risk with age and i cant see them tying up much money in a position they just don’t seem to value or know how to use consistently. But , was just kidding so hope you forgive me ! Lol! 😊
  13. Still doesn’t explain how giving him away to the giants resolves anything in the NFL where what players think or want rarely matters! Lol! This is a new twist!
  14. And screw RODGERS! Hated Brady,,,,now hate this arrogant dark retreating fool who wants to come rain on JOSH’s parade; just because he beat him in golf his new psychotropically ( yes, creating a new word for this clown) affected cns thinks it’s better to compete against the BILLS , than the weaker NFC. Did not think it was possible to dislike this guy more , but i was very , very wrong and not ashamed to admit it!
  15. You are delusional ! First rule of any well run business, never hire relatives because if you piss one off , you now have two pissed off employees to scheme for revenge against you. ! How do you split plays peacefully in that situation? Plus the older guy is getting ready to hit the proverbial wall most RB’s do at some point suddenly, without warning. There are too many FA backs available cheaper, who are more different in running style which is desirable, and you should see how the draft plays out unless you are already in on a guy like the former Lions RB , as has been floated in the rumor mill. But really, see rule #! , NEVER hire two family members as it’s a disaster waiting to happen. For example , if they argue off the field like one gets paid more, they fight over a video game, they share a house but one doesn’t pay their share of utility bills, one doesn’t do dishes or tidy up etc, as the list is endless , it leaks into work and suddenly one guy misses a block getting his brother creamed! Heck , most places i have worked have strict policies about even dating someone you work with. Lol! So most organizations frown on you even flirting at work, and you want to bring in two brothers competing for touching a football? Suddenly on game day we see across the bottom of the TV screen, “certain COOK BROTHER’’ , scheduled to start today listed as inactive after mysterious fall down stadium steps apparently “slipping “ on black ice, opening up an unexpected opportunity for “CERTAIN OTHER COOK BROTHER” to start even after being benched by McD the prior week for fumbling inexplicably after tripping while running near the Bills sideline when no opponent had any realistic chance to make the tackle ! And that’s just the first two weeks before it’s even gotten cold in Buffalo yet! NEVER HIRE FAMILY , HUSBAND/WIFE, BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND, COUSINS ETC to work together in your business unless you crave and enjoy drama! So , NO! 😁. We are facing enough drama now that the idiot RODGERS, has committed to play for the jets! WHY cant this franchise ever get a break,,,BRADY FOR 20 YEARS, NOW THIS DARK RETREAT , PSYCHOACTIVE DRUG PROPONENT , HOT INDY DRIVER DATING & FAILING FOOL , has to end his career in our division just as we finally become competitive! AFC east teams will cannibalize each other and KC will win 5 more SB’S as Buffalo continues its long history of futility. UNBELEVABLE! 🤨🤮
  16. So how does a player being upset with a head coach ( and in this case it seems pretty petty, I didn’t read the article but what is so terrible about letting that slip out unless Waller was worried she might say no and he would be embarrassed, or it would interfere with Waller still being a “player” off the field too if news got out he was no longer a “free agent” ! Lol !) dictate what they would accept in a trade for him? If he is so pissed he is threatening to sit out etc, then let him do it rather than get ripped off in a trade. If he IS actually getting married , those bills will start rolling in as his fiancé, I am sure , expects a certain NFL life style ( no one marries just because they love someone , right?😂). The pressure on Waller would keep mounting , as she would prob be withholding certain assets as well, and seems to me he would eventually cave and play! Guess i need to read about it , but how does the “player” have any control or leverage in this situation, enough so to influence trade value? Someone is “ whipped” in this scenario , and I’m not sure who is really the “ whipee” , Waller or McDaniels ! one thing seems sure, Daboll didn’t get his COTY award by being the guy whipped , and is starting his second year being “ dominant” in improving his roster! 😁 Good for Dabs; no wonder he is always smiling and laughing. I bet he was miserable at times under Mr always so serious , Mr never say anything that could give an edge to the opponent, Mr process himself , but #1 in our hearts , coach McD !
  17. Ask polian, you don’t want to lose your job being unprepared. But the real issue is you don’t want to lose the whole season if Allen is out a half or a game. You owe it to the entire team to be prepared for short term issues with josh. Every team goes down without your 1, except for the amazing 49ers last year with mr irrelevant at qb. Home field can come down to one game , so if josh is out for just a game or two, your gm better be prepared or you waste another year, millions of $, and its an inexcusable mistake as a gm to think a qb will play every down, every year. You are paying miller 120 mil $, to win now, not be set up to just blow a year off. Man, the AFC is murder this year. Mahomes, Burrows,Allen, Rodgers probably (He is stupid coming to this conference), Watson, Jackson, Tua, jimmy G in Los Vegas, Herbert, Russel Wilson in Denver. This conference is absolutely loaded with qb talent. Beane cant ignore the backup qb position , again ask polianm who lost his job when manning was out unexpectedly. I would try to get someone like jocoby brisett if he is free. He can at least win a couple of games. Mitch looked really much worse than i ever expected and lost his job to a rookie from PITT! That’s bad! Has to be someone , dalton is going to the Panthers , but I don’t think Barkley is enough and if Beane ignores it , you just know it will bite us! Hey, maybe bring in the qb from the winning team in the xfl, or something creative. Maybe Matt Ryan would humble himself which might be a decent guy on the sideline as well since the colts cut him.
  18. I guess I don’t totally understand the issue. I think the OP did a nice job of compiling all that information in the post. But i thought we are looking at adding another stud type receiver to diversify the offense and give JOSH more weapons. So isn’t the reason to mention Hopkins at all is to think about him as a legit #2 at this point (And hey, i resent and resemble that crap about AARP ! So to the wise guy that said the aarp team stuff, WAIT TILL YOU GET THERE! LOL! They start sending card apps out when you turn 50 so it’s going to sneak up a lot quicker than you think !). 😊 So wouldn’t the goal be to still have Gabe , but allow him to return to his #3 role so he doesn’t have to face #1 corners when teams double Diggs and roll their 1 to cover Gabe? It’s not supposed to be an either or situation, its about ADDING weapons for Josh , and even at 31, Hopkins would be aa great addition as we need more guys on the field who can reliably catch but also make it difficult to take Diggs away as teams did. In the latter part oft the the season… The goal is to bring in another weapon , not to subtract Gabe , and see if he improves and then is worth a second contract., while also adding youth via the draft and let it play out. Gabe will have to improve, as I don’t care what those year end stats say, he dropped too many balls at critical times and he killed drives. He was too hot and cold and if that continues , he cant be relied upon regardless of his stats. The Bills cant keep having Josh and Diggs as their only dependable talents, its a recipe for losing against good teams as it becomes easy to limit at least one of them in critical times. I know some drops were not his fault, but he failed to make noticeable catches when the ball was dropped right where a WR has to make that type of reception. ( deep balls that could have been scores or put us in fg range). It’s like edmunds, don’t let the stats deceive your eyes or gut feeling about things. Stats can be deceiving, film and your eyes are believable. Gabe has to improve his reliability or the BILLS just won’t keep him. Doing great against 2-3 weaker teams and then disappearing is a sure way to lose trust from Josh, or get him hurt as he has to drop back again and teams are sending the house knowing the line is avg at best. . Hopkins has been a legit 1 receiver and Gabe probably will just never be that so presenting all those stats , while being a GREAT job on the OP’s part, was driven by a bias that doesn’t fit the situation the Bills are in; they need a quality, ADDITIONAL reliable guy with an ability to create separation. Last year Gabe was too inconsistent , regardless of his year end totals . I bet even the QP remembers more than a handful of bad , drive hampering or killing muffs by Gabe. When you watch KC, it’s the opposite as his WR’s make drive sustaining catches, and surprisingly didn’t miss HILL, who lead the league in receiving yards i believe. Gabe can be a part of a great offense , he just needs to be in a situation facing the #2 or 3 corners and adding someone like Hopkins, would help Gabe in that way and he would be single covered much more. Then add some speed or a RAC type wr thru the draft to sustain things for the future and as insurance against injury. We are creating cap room hopefully to add talent , not keep SUBTRACTING and staying on the current PLATEAU of divisional losses.. Having both WR’s for a year is one way to actually have a shot at the SB. IF you didn’t see it , RODGERS gave a FA wish list to the jets, and they already signed one of the guys he asked for.(lazaar i think , so the jets are serious). Other teams are improving and aren’t standing still ; they are close to overtaking the Bills. . If we don’t make the right moves, it’s like being the same old Bills; having a generational talent at QB and letting him stagnate. We are letting prime years starting to drift by while its NOW more obvious to everyone, this wr corp lacks consistent pass CATCHERS and we are lacking innovation in our passing attack. Trends are being set by likely SB contenders ( KC, CINCY, MIAMI , JETS , CHARGERS, maybe the BROWNS too, seem able to RUN in addition to their prime passing focus which depends on a FEW dependable RAC capable wrs , not just one lone star like Diggs ). GABE is still a vital cog, as your hard work proved in your post , and I don’t get discussions advocating just letting him go or replacing him as we should be looking to add another, possibly more consistent option (see Cincy), so he can face corners he is more likely to beat, and he could probably match this years totals in yardage/ TD’s but with less attempts and being more efficient on offense. McD needs to let his REID come out, not be afraid to change the roster and his approach or we will be out of the playoffs as we face a very tough schedule and a very improved afc conference, We split withe the FINS & JETS last year with head coaches less tenured than McD, and who last year had less overall talent. That gap will be gone, so mcd must improve along with DORSEY, or we will very likely take a step backward.
  19. Yeah all those game changing ints, forced fumbles, sacks , and tackles for loss he had leading us to 2 consecutive divisional playoff losses are really going to be missed! 49 mil $ guaranteed would have been reasonable for all that production, passes avoided like crossing routes into the middle of the field , and all those tackles he made 9 yards down the field on third and 8 , but when the guaranteed money hit 50 mil $, it just didn’t make sense any longer. Feels bad after paying him so little for 5 years especially because he was so NFL ready to lead the D at age 19 ! So , what are you saying; this means we are no longer automatically in the playoffs without Tre, because we can now afford to pay and field 53 players each week? You would think Beane would have thought of that before not doing a contract a year before or something similar when Tre was not such a superstar , like before he exploded this year with 1 sack and 1 int ! But in Beanes defense, who expected both Tre AND Saffold to be voted into the prestigious pro bowl the same year ; i mean we usually pride ourself on our roster lacking pro bowl talent! So we probably have to give Beane a pass when he accidentally loaded the roster with 2 or 3 of those talented guys all in the same year. That sure screwed the PROCESS of drafting, growing, retaining your own guys, especially when drafting a guy so young we were assured to have him anchor the D for at least a good 10-15 years. I guess despite all their regular season success, McD , Beane may have to take a step back , re-evaluate their philosophy just like KC has done for 5 years after being forced to play so many extra games and then draft from a limited pool of talent as they seem to always be picking in the 30-32nd spots ( well, excluding that one year when Mcd felt bad and gave them the 10th spot just so they could have a shot at the limited QB talent that year; funny how our success has been so intertwined with KC! Sure has been a good thing McD learned so much while with Andy!) LOL, just kidding around! Tre may become good if used appropriately, which I don’t thin was ever the case here , and I think it showed in how edmunds seemed to be very eager to get out of Buffalo. Sure he wanted to test the market, but he never talked enthusiastically about wanting to continue here, just threw out an occasional cliche or platitude about the NFL being a business, and he would be happy staying but always cut that subject off quickly. This was the only year I saw him ACT like a leader showing enthusiasm , and being a contract year, that’s pretty self explanatory. I think we will be better , certainly hard to be any worse as we lost when it really mattered after all , and we all know this teams success is based on JOSH, not an ILB in a soft zone D. Tre and Chicago are both going to find out he is no URLACHER , BUTKUS, SINGLETARY, SMITH type LB, who is intense , hard hitting , and a game changer, and TRE is ok regardless being 50 mil$ happier. He is a good person, i just think he was completely miscast in Buffalo. Chicago is banking on that thought, literally. My predictions are Bills fans will finally see true impact performances when Milano plays alongside someone with football instincts and aggression who likes contact , and the Bears fans , who are used to exceptional lb play ( they just had roquan right, and URLACHER was fast but nasty with his tackling and was a playmaker) will be seeing a soft, more gentler style MLB ( unless they use him differently )and they can talk about all the things that didn’t happen because of TRE or discuss all the times he is “around” the play after someone else made the tackle ! Things probably worked out for both sides. I wish him good health, but wont miss him as a bills player i enjoyed watching play.
  20. Hope not! Thank God we no longer have to hear how great he is because “teams don’t throw in his area, he prevents so many passes”! All those guys who kept telling us how great he was , how most of us could never grasp all he did for us , can STFU as the great Brandon Beane (who “we all trust in”) didn’t even see the value to resign this defensive “leader”! Finally the eye test meets up actually how valued he was. Of course they will still argue he was so great he just out priced what we could afford ,,,even tho we know he could have been resigned earlier if the Bills brain trust had believed the hype we all had to endure. So the Bears get their next star LB , their next BUTKUS, their next BRIAN URLACHER, their next MIKE SINGLETARY! Yep, TRE always came to mind as well when those names were mentioned, and now he can take his one standout , highlight tackle in the flat against the Fins , and become the next monster of the midway! No doubt, the Bears are all set as TRE will get them from having had the overall #1 pick , to dominating the NFC ( despite the Eagles, 49ers , cowgirls, and even Giants and Vikings still on the move).! Good luck w that BEARS,,,you just got the antithesis of the aforementioned great , intense, HOF linebackers , with his charmin-like hard hitting , tackle from behind, pile on, arm tackling , he’s so young , stud that will lead your D in playoff time where his play level rises, to a SB run for the life of his contract! Personally, I would be happier to see Shaq back than relive the Tremaine tenure as we all can forever remember the great defensive results of the past two divisional playoff LOSSES ! The point being , you play to win the SB, and we barely sniffed a chance with one AFC championship appearance with our great statistical defense. I’m excited to see what happens if they add a real productive LB with the super talented Milano ! ( would love to see the bills load up with someone like Jack Campbell behind a vet, add a legit rb like dijon, get a true #2 wr as a vet FA addition plus draft a young wr and tackle / guard in addition to McGovern , and i would not regret losing TRE, and I bet you guys will end up happier as well). It’s a new part of the process, and it should be better with experience, and all the “learning” opportunities. ( look , I think Tre is a great, standout young man who was probably used in a way that limited his visible impact in the big picture and maybe his best football is ahead of him. But its time to quit throwing money at the D yearly, and time to stick by a firm limit to spend on certain positions, and support the best player , Josh , as the AFC is becoming loaded. Just the afc east is going to b a dog fight so it’s time to maximize your best asset and best chance to make it to the SB and that means not spending 50 mil$ guaranteed on a better than avg ILB. Hopefully money gets shifted to making our O better , as like the chiefs, a great offense is our best shot to compete) ’
  21. This is sad news; i grew up developing my love for football and the NFL watching and listening to coaches like Bud. Guys were great leaders of men, back when men were men with no “toxic masculinity” , just great husbands and fathers with work ethics that were examples of how to succeed in all phases of life. We’ve lost strong role models as we’ve seen the breakdown of traditional families and Bud Grant was by all accounts a good role model and was an example of the great that the NFL was part of as the league grew around legends of the time. Landry was a man like that as well, with a larger than life persona. Lombardi , Hank Stram, Madden , and of course Marv Levy are all examples of what i remembered to be good about the NFL and were some of the great coaches i grew up watching as the NFL blossomed over the years. I don’t mean to leave other great coaches or owners out , i just mentioned a few i remember seeing as a kid /teenager with limited games to watch as i became a fan and got hooked on the NFL as a great hobby and interest for most of my life. Those were some great Sundays watching games with my father, who was a Joe Namath fan, but still was such a great father that he went with me to SB28 in Atlanta because i was an obsessed Bills fan and he went with me hoping the Bills would finally win it all as I had followed them starting way back in ‘63. Losing a guy like Grant , even tho I was never a Vikings fan, feels like losing another small piece of the carefree time as a kid when sports seemed so important because life’s realities hadn’t started to hit very hard yet and it was usually just about having fun! It will really mark the end of that time for me when Marv passes as it will mark the end of a great era and time in my life when the NFL really began to become more of a business as free agency came in and players rarely stayed with one team for a career. RIP Bud, and thanks for being a part of my growing up and growing into a lifelong NFL and Bills fan , and thanks for being a part of the GOOD nostalgia the NFL was built on before it became largely “ me” oriented, where now hours are devoted to hearing about guys getting their bag and we are focused more on cap space than following a guys career development with our favorite team. Losing a guy like Grant is losing a great coach and great man, but for me it also signals another small piece passing of a simpler time as a fan when you knew every guy on the roster of your team for several years, a coach was around long enough to lose 4 super bowls, and talk was about football and not contracts and cap space. It’s another part of the “sucks to get old” reality that football provided a great escape from !
  22. Maybe you missed some things. Their first year coach won coty while our 6th year HC has never won that honor and is famous for defensive debacles like 13 seconds. They got just as far in the playoffs in that coaches 1st year with supposedly a lessor talented QB and overall roster. They can run the ball while the Bills struggle to have a run game unless you include josh as our leading runner. A player they took from our PS, since our wr corp was so dynamic , became their best wr and signed a new contract while we held on to a wr for his special teams prowess yet he rarely played due to injury and probably has little future value to the BILLS. While we barely beat a fins team playing a 3rd string qb in the playoffs on our home field, the Giants went into Minnesota and beat the Vikings , a team that managed to perform the greatest comeback in football to beat us on our home field. Like the BILLS , the Giants got throttled in the next playoff game , but the BILLS were playing at home as favorites. You didn’t finish your other thought “Daniel jones could never “,,,,,could never what ? Lead the league in red zone ints? Just being a little sarcastic , but I don’t get blind faith as so far this staff has drafted a true superstar qb, but what else have they done, while Daboll proved coaching matters in the NFL , and no matter how good your qb is, he cant win games without surrounding quality support. McD has tremendously underperformed in the playoffs with a 4-5 record and has lost 2 consecutive years in the divisional round despite being 6 years into his “process”. He has had multiple drafts and offseasons to improve things like the DL,OL. RUN GAME, WR CORP, , achieving a plateau it seems, while Daboll took Daniel Jones,an inferior roster, and made it much further than expected in his first year . So, maybe they wont be “the BILLS WITHOUT JOSH ALLEN”, but maybe you don’t have to be to win in this league if you can adapt with coaching and actually use players creatively rather than finding ways to keep highly drafted rookies on the bench or losing players you drafted to other franchises who went on to prove them to be capable players. ( 0ne time ,the o lineman to Cleveland was perhaps luck, having it happen again losing a wr when our wr corp was bringing back guys they had cut, is either arrogance or stupidity regarding your ability to find roles for talent you have). Time to look in the mirror rather than belittle or minimize other franchises when our staff is living on past achievements and has blown opportunities in epic fashion. The well coached 49ers made it to the NFC championship behind mr irrelevant at QB, so the Bills staff is hardly some great role model. The Giants are just beginning their process , while we are now going to face losing integral parts we were told were here to grow, be resigned, and win a championship with. To top it off , the DC steps down without prior hint or much notice and it just gives the appearance of turbulence or chaos as other franchises with less tenured staffs are noticeably on the upswing ( eagles, jets, fins, 49ers,giants,Cincy, and lets not forget the champs ,KC, who never seem stagnant). Just saying, be careful holding this staff /franchise as some best standard; while having overcome the ineptitude of the drought years, they have made their share of blunders and still haven’t delivered what they promised or were hired to do, actually win a SB! Maybe they should try to get to one first and apply all that “ we’ll learn from this” knowledge! At this rate, the Giants may get to one before the Bills!
  23. I agree that was amazing fun. Still, quality means something regarding wins and it provides clues to post season success as trends develop. Despite the wins, if we are willing to be honest, we could see the quality of play deteriorating at seasons end. Struggling and then losing at home in the playoffs didn’t used to be the Bills way. They used to play their best, highest intensity games then, and rarely if ever came out flat like that Cincy game. It was a crazy , injury plagued , and I hope , an aberrant season leading up to the playoffs. My only concern is it is three playoff disappointments without one SB appearance and each year has ended with some form of coaching gaff or appearance of being out smarted. He has to clear that playoff plateau , as newer staffs ( Cincy, Philly, Miami & the jets beat us with less talented qb play under younger HC’s) are showing rapid progression. The 4-5 playoff record is a monkey on his back , and is tarnishing his stellar reg season success. He is great for the culture and city, but marv at least managed to get 4 shots at the prize, so fans shouldn’t be content with less now, having a gifted franchise qb; one they patiently waited 17 years for. I hope he is the coach to finally win it all, but his margin for error keeps getting thinner. With Frazier bowing out , it’s like a noose tightening. Let’s hope its a slip knot and he doesn’t hang himself but instead, crafts a bow around that Lombardi to give to the Bills mafia.
  24. Sorry , but when your d collapses in 3 playoff losses , two of which you blew leads in, the grass wasn’t all that green to begin with. Again , in 3 losses , the great D gave up 107 points, 1403 yards , and lost one lead with only 13 seconds left to protect . When it couldn’t do that , it promptly let the Chiefs march down the field as an encore for a game wining TD. To make matters more understandable , each of the teams that beat us with our vaunted D, promptly lost the following week and didn’t look like the same efficient offenses the Bills lost to. I remember wide right, and that great Bills team never recovered in playoff performances after that loss. Wins just don’t happen because fans expect the team to keep progressing. Blowing that 13 second game, when Allen had two historic playoff performances , is something that could be analogous to wide right ; Allen and the team actually regressed in the playoffs this year , barely beating the fins behind a 3rd string qb , and then never being a threat to Cincy. Many analysts who were staunch supporters , are suggesting the team is at a crossroad and may regress. That includes Greg cosell, Bucky brooks, florio and sims, so they don’t seem all that optimistic with the current talent. I wouldn’t call our situation currently green grass , more like weeds that needed a cleanup and pruning. Regardless of what happens now as Frazier rests, you can’t get back those lost opportunities. Even if the D is worse , and the record is worse ( which i expect given the strength of schedule and teams like Cincy, kc, Miami , and even the jets improving as they nearly beat us twice despite their terrible qb play ), it seems like a change in a positive direction to be competitive with teams like San Fran and Philly. We didn’t belong in the SB this past year after watching the caliber of play in that game. I don’t see how the grass was so green ; beating lower tier competition , yet losing to playoff caliber play a third year in a row seems more like the color of fertilizer than a green pasture. 13-3 was very enjoyable, but having never won a SB and watching teams like CINCY & PHILLY,with less tenured staffs leap frog us, dampens all that great regular season success. I think it’s fair to feel it’s possible to be better, especially having probably the best qb in franchise history playing in his prime. Change helps clarify if you have the right HC at the helm or are you just wasting Allens prime years. Maybe the grass can be greener on this side of the fence if McD has better support. Remember , the fans didn’t make Frazier take time off; that either came from him , mcd, or above, so maybe lecture them about expectations !
  25. Great point and way to cut thru the BS ( forgive the pun!). The big issue is most of those HC’s talked about , did not have a unicorn , star athlete the size of a lineman with the quick twitch of a RB/TE type player , who happens to be able to throw a ball 80 yards in the air and drop it in the wr hands , and also has proven to be very durable as he didn’t miss a single game this year. ( all other afc east teams started at least 3 qbs during this past season). 6 years of mcd and this year he suffered losses to Miami and the jets ( with a rookie ad 2nd year hc), and squeaked out a wild card game AT HOME against the fins prior to seeing some of the least inspiring play in a playoff home loss the following week. His playoff record stands now at 4-5 , hardly inspiring confidence for the future. Two of those playoff losses he squandered leads , with the all time debacle being 13 seconds. Just take a look at the still pics of how the D was set up at critical times in those games, it is inexcusable and unexplainable. In the Cincy 3rd and 4 yards play , tre is 8 yards off the wr , and with wr’s in trips to the right , not a single Bills defender is even in the frame! Look at a still pic of the D in the final 13 seconds game and it was even worse. In his last 3 playoff losses the d gave up 107 points and 1403 yards , and each team that beat us was promptly defeated in the next game. McD touted how much they learned from the KC game , yet we saw the D fail at PLAYOFF time again. I admire Sean as a man , but his playoff performance has suffered from coaching gaffs! Kelly was a hof QB, and having watched his entire career even attending SB’S 27&28 , without a doubt Jim had no where near the all around talent Allen has, and it’s not even close. We saw what 17 years were like without a true franchise QB. To not even make a single SB appearance at this point with a true FRANCHISE QB, while watching Mahomes ‘who has only been in the league 1 more year than Josh already win 2 , is a red flag concerning this coaching regime. As you stated, other coaches have won with less talent, and it should be a warning losing to Miami and the jets this past year. Arguably Philly , Cincy, ( with less tenured coaches) look more advanced , and the 49ers , and KC aren’t going away either. The Bills went from preseason SB favs, favored in every game this year , to now having a DC “take a year off” , while possibly facing losing edmunds & Poyer , with Hyde and Tre aging and a d line rotation that has failed to develop impact players. Meanwhile, our 120 mil$ star is coming off an ACL ( and frankly seems more interested in his future social media career on instagram, twitch etc , than being around Buffalo & was the only player i saw not visibly all that disturbed by the Cincy loss ). Additionally Beane supposedly can make limited moves because of the cap. Analysts like Bucky Brooks have stated this team is at a cross roads and may be regressing with no offensive identity, and Florio & Sims echoed the same. Something is wrong with the process; while personally I’m not disappointed by Frazier taking a sabbatical, it comes at a strange time out of the blue, and it just seems like organizationally something is amiss. Like the old saying, where there’s smoke , there is usually fire. All those stats posted about prior coaches trying to justify Mcd’s performance, ring hollow if he has another similar failure in the playoffs, or possibly given all the positional coaching changes, failing to even make the playoffs. Perhaps all the changes are for the good , but I’m at the “show me” point with this staff.. It’s even hard to really feel enthused about the draft because we have seen mcd’S reluctance to use rookies , even as we witnessed rookies for KC contribute to a SB , and all around the league we watched as rookies contributed on other teams. Mcd is looking somewhat dated regarding his philosophy with rookies, and while he has created a good team culture, that alone has proven to not be the main ingredient leading to a championship. Greg Cosell of NFL films and a weekly guest/ supporter on the show with Brown & Tasker, called the offense “josh & Diggs , an average at best o line, with no commitment to a run game, and a bunch of other guys at wr”. Many are recognizing this roster is lacking talent and lacks offensive creativity compared TO TEAMS WHO HAVE PLAYOFF SUCCESS. This is shaping up to be a critical year for Mcd; without Frazier , it’s Sean’s D and I believe his seat is getting very warm. Unfortunately the schedule looks rough, even losing a home game to London. You are right, this HC ‘s success is now only fairly measured by his ability to get beyond the plateau, and win a championship. He can’t continue failing that next step while having the benefit of a true , unicorn franchise QB, as that type of unique athlete remains around for a very limited time. Regardless of all the rationalizations, most of those coaches didn’t have a Josh Allen , and that may actually shorten Seans time to be seen being successful, as without that SB win he is wasting career years of a phenomenal QB. (best wishes Mr Weo, stay healthy , wishing you joy with every case as time flies too fast, T’s & P’s for your continued success!)
