On the second day of practice, EJ Manuel got his turn with the first-team offense and had a blatantly average session. The good part for Manuel, though, is that average was good enough to put him ahead of the player that took Friday’s first team snaps: Matt Cassel. Manuel displayed a good zip on the ball in routes versus air, but then in team drills, showed the inaccuracy that has plagued him, as well as a hesitance to pull the trigger on a deep throw. Cassel, quite honestly, has been a very big disappointment two days into camp.

He still has the time to turn it around, but he’s missing throws at an alarming rate in a practice setting.
