  1. And what about the fans who subscribe to the Buffalo News? Should they not have their news aggregated? "99%"... Exaggeration doesn't help make your case. 99 articles out of 100 are not from the the Bills hometown newspaper. Telling me something that isn't true isn't the way to convince me of anything. I have clearly indicated which articles are from the News and which ones are not by the lock icon preceding the titles. If anything, you are getting some paid content for free in the quote we provide.
  2. You might want to indicate that for those who aren't involved in other threads, etc...
  3. Please refrain from commentary not pertaining to the information Josh has asked for. Thanks.
  4. I have already said multiple times that the purpose of those clubs would not be to do that.
  5. So, to wrap your mind around this feature - all it really is are user created forums arranged in a club directory as opposed to me creating them and slotting them in a rigid layout as we do now. And as I mentioned above - this wouldn't be for people to create their own little Bills discussion groups.
  6. I think my only initial objection would be sub groups to discuss the Bills. I wouldn't want any splintering of the larger discussion elsewhere.
  7. I'm not making any assumptions here. I'm wondering how people might see themselves using such a feature. Fantasy football discussion for TBD leagues. The Garbage Plate club Regular road trip travelers Etc...
  8. I more than likely will do something over the bye weekend. I'm either going to upgrade the front page or upgrade the forums. The front page needs the most help to be honest but this is a close second.
  9. So, in taking a fresh look at the latest release of our current software, a new feature caught my eye: Clubs This is the IPB answer to Facebook groups. It would allow the creation of user created clubs/groups within the community. https://invisioncommunity.com/news/new-clubs-r1017 There is a lot to digest in that article about the feature. It is VERY intriguing. I'd like to hear some feedback on this and if anyone could see a use for them.
  10. I was just responding to the assertion that there are members in there that don't post nor read and would leave if the shoutbox were removed. Needless to say, I never made a suggestion that I was purposefully removing it - I was just unaware if a third-party module have been written for the version of the software I have been looking at.
  11. Again, I was playing devils advocate here. The point being we have two large categories of customers here. Content creators (who also read) and content readers (who don't create). We cater to them both. I'm told this third group doesn't fall into either category. How much concern should I have for them then?
  12. To play devil's advocate - why should this make my priority list if members have checked out of the community and just hide in the corner using a web based texting feature?
  13. Odds are I will keep all of the content. But that's just my current preference. It looks like there is a shout box add-on already developed so hopefully it has the proper functionality that everyone wants to see.
  14. These suggestions are not practical. I'm not fielding requests to import individual threads.
  15. yeah, that might not be back for awhile. Someone would have to write an add-on for that. I don't know if/when it would be available. We have never allowed images in signatures. The text one will probably go too. People upload stuff all the time.
  16. Basically, the thought process behind NOT bringing over 4.5M posts is: 1. Linking structure. Converting old links to new links may be just a rewrite of the URLs but it gets messy. 2. An empty database means the new code should be lightning fast. And fast for a very long time.
  17. Despite the inevitable STD, what is unusable about them? Because I am almost certain to use the same software. (It almost appears as though they are using the beta-software that is out now. I'm not sure.)
  18. That site will give you herpes. You should be talking about the Sabres on SabreSpace.
  19. We have 4.5 Million posts, but for the most part it is a slow moving chat room. I'm not sure many threads are revisited after a couple weeks have past. If/when I migrate the forum to a contemporary software package - should I just leave the 4.5M posts behind and just transfer the structure and user accounts over? That would mean every forum would start fresh, but there would be a link to the old archives. Any opinions?
  20. These tomatoes are sort of a big thing so it won't be hidden on the label. It will say in big bold letters on them. Just do a Google search and you can see the different types of brands and packaging out there. I get them at my local grocery store which is nothing special.
  21. We get the pre-formed ones. I tried the dough balls and there isn't enough flour or cornmeal in the world to get me to do that again. Could not manage getting it off my peel without making the kitchen a disaster. The pre-made ones we have in our store are fine with the family and they come with a parchment incorporated. Easy peezy.
  22. It has to be San Marzano tomatoes. Read up on them. http://www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-deal-14-16365
  23. Has that thing landed yet? It floated like a dandelion seed.
