  1. Mark me down as someone who thinks Mahomes was hurt some time in the game which were the cause of his second half throws to be all in the dirt
  2. The Titans were a much better team at the end of the year than when we played them. it’s only stupid coaching when it doesn’t work. Jimmy was like 18 for 22 at one point, any pass play at any time could have gashed them for big yards.
  3. it would have been worse. A lot worse.
  4. yeah. I really don’t get the criticism. It’s one thing to play every game like youre Tim Tebow and it’s another thing to crush everybody and then have an off game and still put up 31 points.
  5. our offensive line would not have withstood that pass rush.
  6. It looks like you have some different issues than I do. Right now I am down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out how to approach this. I wish I had just a simple single level herniation, but the amount of jelly that is the doubt the side of my spine could cause complications according to the one surgeon I saw. Someone off-line suggested that I go to the hospital for special surgeries in New York City which seems to be a spectacularly awesome place to be treated. Right now I have had some mild numbness/tingling in my left arm for the past month. I don’t know how long that can go before I risk damaging the nerve.
  7. so, this was very helpful because I kept seeing references to disc replacement surgery, but the vast majority of information had to do with fusion. It turned out the FDA approved an artificial disc (M6-C) for the US last February and it’s just starting to be performed in various hospitals around the country. This explains why so many surgeons still just do the fusion procedure. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I figured I’d find some cervical spine peeps here, but maybe not. I have a ***massively*** herniated cervical disc - the herniation originated from c6/c7 and extends all the way down the vertebrae past the c7/t1 disc. While the last 7 weeks have been extremely complicated to explain, parts of my left arm went numb almost a month ago. An MRI confirmed the herniation and the pressure on the C8 nerve root. Conservative therapies aren’t really going to fix anything like this. Depending on how difficult it is to clear the goop that escaped, I may be looking at a 1 or 2 level disc removal or a complete removal of the vertebrae. As mentioned above, I’m concerned about a traditional fusion that stresses the adjacent segments and causes wide spread deterioration of the spine. Newer techniques have a replacement disc with no fusion, but they are.... newer. ? And lack longitudinal studies. So, first hand experience is what I am seeking.
  9. The other option is to keep it closed to everyone and not offer any after-hours activities. Then no one pays a permit fee. ?
  10. It's not, but then again you feel comfortable using the Gateway Pundit as a source so there's that frame of reference to consider.
  11. You will have to ask the permit buyers why they want to be in the park. I offered a common explanation for why someone would seek a non-residential area to look at the sky.
  12. The commentary though, is crap and that is the best you can say about it. It's an after-hours permit, most likely to be used to escape light pollution in densely populated areas. It basically just means, "I'm here to use the the park, when it is closed to general use, for the purposes of stargazing. A park ranger would naturally approach anyone present in a closed park, if they weren't aware that they had a legitimate use of the park at that time of day.
  13. What a dumb write up. The Gateway Pundit? Jesus. Don't you have a screwdriver you can jam in your ear? https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-gateway-pundit/
  14. Who has had discs removed and vertebrae fused? What were your experiences?
  15. There are 7 billion people in the world. I’ll leave it at that.
  16. You know what I meant. Clearly there are people who were close to him that are affected. But there is the vast majority that never met the guy, who play another sport, never really followed his career, yet went to Instagram and Twitter today and posted about it. Most of them post out of obligation because their own followers expect them to say something. I try not to confuse obligation with heartfelt sincerity.
  17. perhaps I’m a cynic, but I find the athlete responses are more out of perceived obligation than out of true emotion. regardless, 9 people died in that crash.
  18. The *entire world* is not mourning. This is exactly what I just posted about - you are projecting your feelings on to everyone else. Believe it or not, the vast vast vast majority of the world doesn’t give a ***** about the NBA.
  19. I can come up with a few reasons... For instance, everyone assumes their world view of a person should be reflected by others. Clearly this isn’t the case. I have never followed basketball. I have zero reverence for Kobe and his career. I quite simply just don’t care for the sport nor anything done inside of it. I bet there are lots of people who may only know him from that incident long ago. Keep in mind that the resolution of that incident was close in time to OJ. There are a lot of people who are resentful towards the rich and powerful buying justice and that feeling may overshadow whatever he did in his career. Listening to others lionize him in death may conflict with their differing view of the player. No one has the full story of who he was at all times.
  20. Confidence. It’s the food of the wise man but the liquor of the fool…
  21. [This is an automated response] As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive topic titles. A single name if far too vague to post as a title and provides little insight into what specifically the post is talking about. The topic starter can edit the topic title line to make it more appropriate. Thank you.
  22. Oh, it's disputed: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/11/01/democrats-far-more-likely-than-republicans-to-see-discrimination-against-blacks-not-whites/ This poll is fascinating. Of special note, look at the party results for Evangelical Christian vs Blacks. lol
  23. But this issue is like smoking cigarettes. Smoking causes cancer... we know this, but not everyone who smokes gets cancer. It's probabilistic causation vs. deterministic causation. As you alluded to, not every black person experiences life the same way... but there is a damn good chance there will be more obstacles in the way and smaller margins of error.
  24. I'm guessing that is upper middle class adult. Unfortunately, the data the times presented only looked at the extremes.
