No judgment, but that’s an awesome phrase. Lol

well, just to warn you. I think this is a great bet. But given that I lose every bet I am sure of this is horrible news for anyone else who agrees with me.

Comfort is what got us here today. If you are uncomfortable, then maybe ask yourself why.

How would you like me to answer that? Composition of votes? Party registration? One example would be the presidential election in 2016. Trump received an astounding 62% of the white male vote (64% of which had a high school education or less). https://www.people-press.org/2018/08/09/an-examination-of-the-2016-electorate-based-on-validated-voters/ Demographics of conservative talk radio (where white men listen to other white men discuss what is wrong with everyone else not like them) is overwhelmingly middle-age white men. Anything else?
-
They are both messages. What is for the social good the other is to get you drunk. Why is one offensive and one not noticed?
-
Have you thought about sitting around a table with other middle-aged white men, who vote other middle-age white men into office, where you all belong to a party with single-digit black people in it and discuss how unfairly you are being treated when you are trying to explain to black people how wrong they are, how this is all their fault and if you blame discrimination on white people they are cowards? It might make you feel better. It also could be that your opinion is just racist. Occam‘s razor.

1. You are giving unequal importance to the messenger over the message. Colin Kaepernick was not elected nor vetted to be the face of any movement. It is something he decided to do on his own. Maybe he felt that something is up, but he got some things wrong. Maybe he showed bad taste in socks and T-shirts. The question isn’t if he is the best spokesperson for the situation, it is if there is a situation at all. If you agree that there is a situation to be addressed then Colin Kaepernick’s role recedes to the back, as the larger issue comes to the front. Attacking the messenger seems to be missing the point by a fair amount. 2. Why are you speaking against someone else’s individual employment situation and making a negative comparison to other peoples? It’s not the same job. People don’t have the same rules. Maybe you’re not allowed to do something similar, but maybe I am. Maybe he is. It seems to me pretty much between him and his employer.

it also could be the fact that ignorant racist views are just in fact racist. Occam’s razor.

You should find a group of black people and other minorities and share your wisdom. Let them know you figured it out and tell them what the real problem is. And then make sure to let them know how cowardly they are.

That might be helpful if lack of training is determined to the root cause. Something tells me that it isn’t.

Buffalo PD assault older gentleman, leave him to bleed
SDS replied to Reed83HOF's topic in Off the Wall Archives
the part that felt funny to me was when he decided to approach as they started marching. My gut says there may have been some baiting there and it went south. Of course, they didn’t and shouldn’t have taken the bait (if that was intended). -

it seems to me you have this completely backwards. We do not exist to serve the police. -
Ours told us 10%.

I had to learn all that stuff on my own. However, that’s exactly what I do, but I do that for a different reason. I don’t worry about being shot, I am looking to be overly polite and hope to get off with a warning.

How’s this… If Drew Brees doesn’t want people to respond at what an asshat he is then he should phrase things differently or keep things to himself. He has a right to his opinion. When he shares his opinion because he wants other people to hear said opinion then other people have the right to respond. Colin Kaepernick used to sit. Then a member of the military told him that kneeling would be more respectful, while honoring his protest. Again, a member of the military told him this. Could you point to another situation in life where kneeling is considered disrespectful? He literally says he doesn’t mean to be disrespectful and changed his action not to be disrespectful. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/06/01/colin-kaepernick-kneeling-history/%3foutputType=amp

[paywall] Athletic 2020 draft class rank by team - Bills #2
SDS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Classifieds first... Recently, the dropping of more subscriptions in favor of The Athletic, has accelerated the decline. Many parts subsidize the news room. Or used to. -

Big picture. People pulling out content from local news companies have hastened the death of local news companies. You may be happy with the QBs analysis, but really pissed off that the local comptroller was embezzling funds or the mayor has neo-nazi roots and no one was around to tell you about it. -

and the Layoffs begin @ Pegula Sports
SDS replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He gets credit for marketing. The problem is once he got his nose under the performance side of the tent, it did not stop until McDermitt was hired. And then Brandon was gone. His name could be under the Peter principle entry in Wikipedia. -

Also, unless we have vision into their severance packages, if any, we really don’t know if they did the right thing by the person or not. -

Some of this does not jive. The bills turned around when Russ Brandon stopped calling the shots and was eventually removed. Then he came in towards the end of his tenure with the Sabres but they were already in a bad situation and he did not help. He appear to make a bad organization move to just below 500 and nothing more and sell tickets.
