Politics in Football, Sports in General
SDS replied to OutOfBubbleGum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have one kid who couldn't care less about professional sports and one who will go to Ravens games. I don't sense a strong bond between younger fans and the game. -

far too many people were willing to substitute their own misrepresentations for the explanations of the people involved, their change of behavior and why those changes occurred. -

it never was to them. It was a false narrative that disregarded the facts and explanations of the situation. -

It is not your protest and the protest is not arranged around your comfort or your hard day. -

With that said, the optics are bad and that will be fixed. Thanks for the head's up about a potential misinterpretation. -

This completely false and it isn't even close. Why would you say that? This board gets 7x the posting traffic over the course of a year and up to 10x during the season. This month is a little different for obvious reasons. -
it is optional for my highschooler, but it is said every day by those who wish to recite it.

there is a chart right below the bias line that indicates the veracity of the source in question. In this case, Slate is rated High. By contrast, if you look at the report regarding Fox News it says it has a right bias, but the factual reporting is two levels lower at Mixed. I think both measures are probably important.

What is your experience that you are so confident about this? -
one could also point out, if one believes their own statistics that regardless of it is perception or reality - perception IS reality in this case. A poll was released last year that found 78% of black people fear the police more than violent crime. That is a complicated stat to get to the bottom, but in the end - 3/4 reported they feared their government than the violent crime issue that keeps being referred to. It can be debated whether they should be afraid, the fact of the matter (if you trust the poll) is that the reality is that they are. So, either way - reality needs to fixed or the perception needs to be fixed because citizens in America should not fear their government.

how about this… How about actively organize the protests? Time place route? It’s hard to be violent at people who are enabling you to be heard.

That was sort of my point. That Fox news commentator is not discussing things in a serious manner. He’s just a guy manipulating things to appease the audience.

You didn’t vote the source of your numbers. It has been debunked. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/jun/05/larry-elder/larry-elder-mislabels-statistics-fatal-shootings-p/ I can not find a source that makes any of the claims you made. It also doesn’t address all those interactions that do not include death. This stuff has been studied to the moon and back. They have tried to compare outcomes of similar crimes between whites and minorities. I have yet to see a serious study, that takes an honest look at the situation, that suggests what you claim.

kudos on missing the sarcasm directed toward your poor math skills.

i’m guessing he is against COVID-19 testing because the infected numbers will go up.

Thank you for your parting ignorant thought. It was the cherry on top of a scrumptious dessert.

I am not going to keep doing this with you. Quite frankly, at this point you’re becoming an argumentative prick. This community does not have a separate NFL forum. We talk about the Bills and other topics related to the NFL. Drew Brees is an NFL quarterback. How ***** hard is this?
-
It is here because it is a topic where sports and politics intersect and it is of interest to the general football community.
-
Justified or cause?

You can make the rules whenever you get the $200/month sever bill and send the check.
-
Thanks for your observation. Drew’s comments are of a political nature related to sports. That’s on you.
