Now that the Olympics are every 2 years - does anyone else think they really dampened the excitement? When it was every 4 years - everyone was pumped. I don't sense that much excitement anymore....

QB Update- 1st Rd drafted QBs wins at typical rate

Well, Rivers is out too then... There probably is a pony in there somewhere. I think the real analysis is the % of cap money going to your starting QB position - regardless of draft position or how they were acquired. That may be worthwhile because there is a cause and effect there. -

Does Jim McMahon or Phil Simms mean anything to you? Are you going to throw in the John Elway minor technicality that he was drafted then immediately traded? Because somehow, someone thinks that drafting a guy is different then trading for him a week after the draft... -

Not really. Toilet humor is what you get when you set up a self-serving proposition and you get called on it. Year after year after year. Since we are using simple statistical analysis to prove our opinions One fact that I know, and you can't tell me otherwise - churches cause crime. Look it up if you doubt me. As the density of churches increases in an area, so does the crime. I will not listen to, nor accept any explanation of this data point, since it is an observable fact. Lotsa churches. Lotsa crime. Direct correlation. -

when you pull out ridiculous scenarios filled with all sorts of caveats - then expect to catch some crap. You narrowly specify one way to obtain a QB and say that isn't as successful as the other 100 ways combined and yet you want some sort of credibility? Any meaningful analysis of this tripe is dismissed in some robot like fashion that doesn't allow for the digestion of data because it shoots all kinds of holes in your theory. You take this weeks games as some sort testament to your theory despite the fact that matchups forced a certain outcome. You say "17 years worth of data" when it is well known that expecting Alex Smith to lead the 49ers to a SB championship in 2005 is an asinine data point to include. The exclusion of Elway, Simms, etc... just goes to show how far you will manipulate and stipulate your theory to arrive at your preconceived outcome. -

<flush> yes. -
What is MV's accuracy outside and in cold weather? If it is as good as his performance in the dome, then it is better to have someone clutch during the regular season who may choke in the playoffs, than to have someone you can never rely on.

I think he is #1 material.... He is noted as having better hands than Harrison on the Colts.

Deadfish added: "I think MS is is very well organized, so he always has his team prepared. I also think he is fair with his players and therefore has their respect. I don't know if he makes the greatest game day decisions, but I think this is more of a cases where he's taken chances and things haven't worked out."

TEA wrote over at packerchatters.com: "I think Sherman might be a good fit for the Bills. He certainly has demonstrated his ability to put together a decent staff of assistants, manage the heck out of practice schedules and players, and inspire them enough at just the right time to pull out play-off experiences. I have to be honest that letting Sherman go at this time was the right thing for the Packers to do. Not having any inside sources, I speculate that Sherman had created such a close, comfortable "family" atmosphere amongst his loyal players that he just couldn't come down hard on ones who were continually making the same mistakes over and over, leading to declining success. I think Sherman the GM left Sherman the HC with too many holes and not enough quality depth and when we suffered all those injuries, our season spiraled downward to the 4-12 mess we got this year. I have no way of knowing what sort of conditioning program Rubin designed and Sherman approved, but for years we have suffered multiple nagging injuries like pulled groins and hamstrings, leaving several players unable to practice from early in TC to the start of the regular season. Sherman always "erred on the side of caution" leaving the players and units with lack of reps to be sharp until 4-6 games into the season. Our new coaching staff must see a problem too as they have fired our strength and conditioning coach Sherman has a great December record but needed to after getting off to several sluggish starts. Several on this board have been critical of Sherman's game time decisions and lack of ability to make adjustments, as well as not having his teams ready to match the intensity of their opponents. I agree with those views. Sherman is a high character guy, a great citizen and public figure for your community, but I just lost confidence that he could ever out coach his opponents and win the big games with the chips on the table. Apparantly Ted Thompson thought the same thing, at least at this time in Packer history. I hope Sherman gets a new start somewhere so we can see if we were right or wrong. Best of luck with whoever your new coach is."

well, that is a tad off the mark. If anything, it is the complete opposite. JP has struggled while in the pocket, but has made plays on the run with his arm and his feet nearly every game.

they need to employ the "pornography" rule... You don't know what the definition is, but you know it when you see it. That was an INT and any rule that states otherwise is a bad one.

actually, they have the technology now. Remember the "3D" view of the game that CBS displayed a couple of years ago? They could have swung the angle around and showed the ball's trajectory going out of bounds.

It is also a "fact" that winning the Lotto is a 50/50 proposition. Either you win it or you don't... Think about that for awhile and maybe the truth will hit you and we can put this tired thread out of its misery. -
Bzzzzt. He was drafted in 2003.
