  1. One slight caveat I would put in there is some sort of figure of merit for their performance as a coordinator. Shanahan and Belichek were lights out coordinators and to me - that skews things a little. Great write up though!
  2. I'm not sure if you are including me in that bunch, but I have not made any proclamations of guaranteed failure in the future. I have no idea what will happen. Hell, a team can go 13-3 by playing a schedule full of pussies. You never know how it will play out... I think this decision can be hammered today without having to know what is in store for the future. You can go over the falls in a barrel, survive, and it can still be a dumb ass thing to do. Just because a situation ultimately works out doesn't mean the decision making process was a good one. Today, I am hammering this decision because I think it was piss poor one by Marv Levy. I see precious few reasons why this guy gets a 2nd chance. It borders on the absurd. With that said - maybe we go 12-4 next season, but I doubt it. Most HC's fail, so I am no Kreskin by guessing DJ will fail too. I tend to think that most NFL cities are the same... Levy is the one who should be piled on, not DJ - unless pointing out his history of mediocrity is piling on. Sure he would. His history of dominating defenses followed him where ever he went. We was on 2 SB winning staffs, coached in a 3rd one. Almost took another team (Jets) to a 4th. He isn't on the same planet as DJ.
  3. So, in your estimation - Dick Jauron is on par with Bill Belichek?
  4. well Chris, I guess we are all winners then, since apparently there are no losers in your world.
  5. basically, what you are saying is that the less our HC is involved with the team - the better chance we have? Nice... I love this hire more and more! It sounds like the old middle management joke. Clueless people get promoted, so that they are removed from the productive stream of the company.
  6. I'm going to fuggin' puke if another person pulls that 13-3 season out of their ass. They won how many miracle games because of Mike Brown? How many of thiose teams had winning records?
  7. I doubt that is the case. If a thorough analysis was done, I bet you will see that for the most part - losers are losers and every now and then someone starts slow and turns it on. BB is the exception. It reminds me of the Winfield argument when everyone pointed to Darryl Green as justification for drafting a 5'6" CB.
  8. well, your entire post is contradicted by your 1st assertion. GW is the ULTIMATE system's coach. He has his way of implementing a defense and he will pound the crap out of that square peg until it is crammed into that round hole. That is one of the reason's he is despised around here.
  9. apparently you are easily confused then.
  10. How do you figure? Throw Dick Jauron in that bunch and he fits tighter than an airbrushed bikini.
  11. but that argument suggests that past success is actually a poor indicator of future success. I never understood Mariucci's appeal, so that isn't a good anectdote with me.
  12. all kidding aside, in the world of active coaches, it is hard to find someone with a worse track record than Jauron.
  13. ONE report said "could"... that is it. I don't see how anyone draws any conclusion from that.
  14. who would we have chosen? Geez, it seems DJ would be on the short list of candidates - no?
  15. WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT GREG OLSON HAS BEEN HIRED!
  16. if this is accurate then I am officially freaked out.
  17. no where does it say "probably". They said "could". As in Marv COULD have hired a coach with some semblence of success, but he didn't...
  18. actually, they had two pro-bowl OL that year. Of course, it is not hard to look good when you play a JV schedule.
  19. wow. talk about your fantasies. So, it is actually a GOOD thing that Dick Jauron was a miserable, hated failure everywhere he went because that makes him more like Bill Belichek? The only thing DJ has on his resume that got him hired was the word "Chicago" and the fact that Hall of Fame Coach Marvelous Marv Levy, your General Manager and man guiding the ship, used to watch him coach on the sidelines during the years he was begging to get back into the NFL (pleads that fell on deaf ears). That is truly outstanding.... It's great to see that people can look at a pile of crap and see an image of the messiah in the twist and turns simply because that pile of crap has an ancient friend who wants to be comfortable and busy in his last years on earth.
  20. errrr... he described a recent GB/Det game and it reminded him of his bad sideline decisions in Chicago. Did you really miss that?
  21. Linky "He’s like a Texas Hold’em player who won’t bet big until he’s sure he has the best hand. The problem is, by that point, most of the players have left the pot, and your chance to score big winnings has gone out the window. Oh, sure, you’ll still win a little bit, but not nearly as much as if you’d decided up front that you were going to be aggressive. And it’s why he never was, and never will be, a big winner as a coach. "
  22. they beat one team with a winning record. they had the softest schedule EVER.
  23. Statements like mine? I have never put much stock in the HoF, the Oscars, or Miss America... I do not applaud them for their vision in selecting Levy and then hammer them for their lack of vision in not selecting Wilson. Peter King BRAGS about being able to keep Art Monk out. What are your thoughts about Mr. King? I've seen enough of Marv and I've seen enough evidence from the GM's of the NFL to draw my own conclusion. I may be in the minority around here and that is fine with me, but I bet in a few years we will be talking about how Marv got booted to the curb yet again in Buffalo. And like clockwork - the rest of the NFL will yawn. again.
  24. It's called a bird in the hand... Jim Fassel was THE coach of the day when he was booted from NY. Supposedly, he would have the choice of any job he wanted. The guy can't get a free cup of coffee from his mother these days...
  25. DJ had 5 years in Chicago.
