  1. I think given his past history with this team and his lack of experience, it is more likely that we will stay put. I was just poiinting this out to those who want to wheel and deal like TD was still in control. Of course, ANYONE is capable of making a draft day trade. However, if you don't know what you are doing then you can get B word slapped real quick. I'm giving Marv credit for probably knowing that he may not be able to pull off a fair deal in 15minutes and that the safe play is just to draft at our current locations.
  2. that's true. I am only suggesting that the losses will be more acrimonious if his PCs are conducted like they were in Chicago. Remember, football isn't real life - it is just entertainment. Having a coach with likable personality would help get fans over the rough spots.
  3. if they didn't matter then why do they have them? They are sources of information and all the beat writers use them in their stories. Media coverage IS pretty important because they can influence the perception of the team by the fanbase.
  4. I guess a kick in the head is different than a kick in the balls, but in the end I think it really will be a wash. I'm just pointing out one of the aspects of his (lack of) personality that Bears fans grew to detest over their losing seasons. Considering he is coming in with less than little fanfare, look for the complaints about the lack of emotion, the lack of information, etc... to come sooner rather than later.
  5. That may not be more than wishful thinking. From what I read - the guy is an emotionless statue and his PCs are utterly useless. He is known for saying nothing... What may seem refreshing now will grow very, very old if this team hits a losing streak.
  6. Thank you... of course the ball washers don't remember such details - they expect someone to come in off the street, with no experience, and expect them to wheel and deal like Monty Hall.
  7. Jay should have been more concerned with his stone hands than TD.
  8. They installed new beer towers during the last renovation... although there have been complaints that beer appears to be watered down somewhat.
  9. that would have to be one HELL of a game...
  10. The question is - how is going to pull the trigger on those trades? It takes balls to make big trades like that and if you don't know what you are doing you will get taken to the cleaners.
  11. one factor is the labor costs - another factor could be that their products SUCK ASS. If those workers make that much, perhaps we could expect a better vehicle???
  12. Wow, did you guys see the rack on her!!!! me neither...
  13. It replaced Maize
  14. Nice take... I was playing off of "holier", but yours works too...
  15. so you DO have something in common with Paris Hilton.
  16. Color me confused...
  17. I think he agreed with me - no?
  18. We did the same thing in 5th grade. Our teacher had a blue eyes/brown eyes "experiment" where he declared that all blue-eyed students were to be beholdent to the demands of the brown eyed students. We (I have blue eyes - girls take note ) were to do as we were told - throw out their trash at lunch, sit quietly when told, etc... We were also treated (mistreated) by the teacher in the same way. In fact, during class the teacher made some reference that no one could list all the teams in the American League (I assume this was a setup). I had my hand raised for about 15 minutes before he would even acknowledge me - at which point he belittled my intelligence for having blue-eyes, etc... Bottom line is that I won an ice cream at lunch for naming all the AL teams. The whole point was to teach us about discrimination.
  19. one may also want to take into account season "1" for each new hire. There is something to be said for a team that needs a new coach and may be in a bit of disarray when the new guy comes in.
  20. Don't bother Tom... apparently this is just going over people's heads. I know what you are saying.
  21. how about it was just an asinine anectdote used to illustrate DJ's player's coach mentality?
  22. I thought the same thing. The way the story was going I thought FOR SURE he was going to float him the money...
  23. One slight caveat I would put in there is some sort of figure of merit for their performance as a coordinator. Shanahan and Belichek were lights out coordinators and to me - that skews things a little. Great write up though!
  24. I'm not sure if you are including me in that bunch, but I have not made any proclamations of guaranteed failure in the future. I have no idea what will happen. Hell, a team can go 13-3 by playing a schedule full of pussies. You never know how it will play out... I think this decision can be hammered today without having to know what is in store for the future. You can go over the falls in a barrel, survive, and it can still be a dumb ass thing to do. Just because a situation ultimately works out doesn't mean the decision making process was a good one. Today, I am hammering this decision because I think it was piss poor one by Marv Levy. I see precious few reasons why this guy gets a 2nd chance. It borders on the absurd. With that said - maybe we go 12-4 next season, but I doubt it. Most HC's fail, so I am no Kreskin by guessing DJ will fail too. I tend to think that most NFL cities are the same... Levy is the one who should be piled on, not DJ - unless pointing out his history of mediocrity is piling on. Sure he would. His history of dominating defenses followed him where ever he went. We was on 2 SB winning staffs, coached in a 3rd one. Almost took another team (Jets) to a 4th. He isn't on the same planet as DJ.
  25. So, in your estimation - Dick Jauron is on par with Bill Belichek?
