I have the guy watching the server tonight to see if anything shows. As Fezmid pointed out to me - the cookbook was getting hammered with comment spam and there is an outside chance that was the problem. We had 70,000 pieces of retatta in there... I disabled it and will monitor the situation. Please be patient as it is very hard to diagnose sporadic spikes when you aren't diagnosing within that 2 minute time frame.

FWIW, I'm on the phone now w/ support trying to figure this out...

Yes, I know. Something funky is going on. I'm putting in a support ticket now, but I'm fearful it will be one of those "I can't do anything if it isn't happening now" answers.

Ok, this is getting annoying. There is some MYSQL process (I believe) getting hung that causes the load to spike to 60. I rebooted yesterday, yet the problem reoccured today. I am not in swap space. The size of 450MB per mysql process seems terribly high considering just a few months ago it was 210MB (see "top" result at the start of the thread). I'm stumped on what to try next. Does anyone know a good way to diagnose what queries are being executed at any given moment?

for some reason, my mysql size has ballooned to 410MB. I think that is what has been causing unexplained board outages the last couple of days. I guess re-optimizing the tables tonight would help, but certainly after I take the board offline so I don't hose it again like last time.

Rob had enough faults w/o having to make stuff up about him. Someone who doesn't care doesn't get the stuff kicked out of him game after game and still try to play the next week. Hell, even after his arm was toast from an injury he STILL tried to make a comeback after being out of football for 2 years. That isn't the action of someone who has millions and millions of dollars, but doesn't care.

While this is not as criticism of JP - I sure as hell hope he wasn't going to checkdown w/ 15 seconds left. This was obvious - no?

if you think that 53 guys, whom you have never met (save for the occasional jock sniffing moment), determine whether you are a winner or a loser based upon what they do on any given Sunday then I suggest that determination was already made long ago. as for me, if the game isn't entertaining then what is the point of watching? The game is barely watchable now with the endless commercials breaking up the 11 minutes of action that is spread out over 3 hours.

I just want a gaming system for me and the boy. I don't do the fancy stuff and I don't care about the latest games. I would be happy playing Spy Hunter or Ms. Pacman for some family fun with the kids. I was thinking a PS2 would be the way to go, since I could free up my DVD player and move that to my bedroom. What would be a reasonable PS2 bundle to get? Controller types, number, accessories, etc... I'm also open to get a GameCube, but I don't think that plays DVD's, so it won't be able to pull double duty for me.
